We had the samosas, vindaloo chicken, kadhai paneer (really unique and savory), basmati rice, and the garlic naan. It was delicious with a friendly owner and staff. Food was served promptly and was on par with some of the best Indian food we have ever had. I highly recommend. We will be back with family soon. read more

Excellent Indian and Pakistani dishes. Paneer mahknai gravy was some of the best I've had (I've eaten at 50+ Indian restaurants around the world) and the shrimp dhaniya was also amazing. We went here years ago and had a pleasant experience. My kids enjoyed the food so when we got the chance to come back to Hawaii once things got better, it was one of their choice of places to eat. We knew that seating may be limited so as to not overwhelm them, we opted to just order to go. We called and was put on hold by a lady, then a gentleman picked up to take our order. We already knew what we wanted and ordered quickly. The gentleman then said he was confused and needed to seat some guests and told us to call back in 2 minutes and got off the phone. I could only eat half and saved the rest, and honestly it was about 5000% better the next day (I think that's normal for Indian food ) very authentic flavors, not too buttery, and tons of golden garlic on my naan. First time here. Ordered the Vegi Samosa, Chicken, Lamb, Mahimahi Curry, Vegi Riata, and Jasmine rice. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is also very authentic. The only one server did the best she could, and we appreciated her calm and sincere attitude to get us our food. Once the order was placed the food was served in 10 mins. I absolutely love indian food and this place is nearby me however I have hesitated for months to go by here simply because of seeing a few mediocre reviews. I got a vote of confidence from a nearby local so I finally wandered into here. The building is dated, decor is dated, and it looks to be more Pakistani than Indian. That being said the staff was very friendly and the food came out at a decent rate. The food itself though was underwhelming. I ordered a lamb vindaloo which apparently only comes at one level of spice for options...ok... It was decently spicy but could have used a bit more heat for my taste and the portion size was a bit small for the cost here but eh it's waikiki still. The lamb itself tasted like it came out of a bag and reheated rather then something fresher/tender. The naan that came out was a good size portion and was the best part of the meal. I have to say that the food was just okay, the service was great, and the location is good. Check it out if you want something in immediate walking distance. Went here with my husband again because we were craving Indian food. The food is still good but the service has really gone downhill since our last visit. I would give this visit 2.5 stars. The servers were friendly but we only saw them at the beginning, after our food was served, and at the end. Our water was never refilled. We were never asked if we wanted more rice or if everything was okay or even if we wanted dessert. Most of all they forgot our appetizer of samosas but by then I thought why bother. The restaurant was not even half full when we arrived. At the end we had to go up to the cashier to pay. This visit was completely opposite from our visit from last time when service was always on point. I'll probably go somewhere else next time for Indian food or until I hear that service improves. read more

Frankly I expected less from the one Indian place I was able to locate in this business-y area of Honolulu. However, they aren't just getting by. Their channa masala tasted exceptionally fresh, and delivered the heat I asked for. It was good for dinner and for breakfast the next day. The other dishes I shared came out well, and the place had an open kitchen, which always inspires confidence, and plenty of other guests. I would look for other things besides Indian in Hawaii, but if you want Indian, I can recommend this one. read more

One of the staff members there is a complete idiot. I placed an order on the phone, gave them my credit card info and they said it would be 45 mins to an hour. At least that is what I heard. I go there to pick up my order after waiting for 45 mins and they say they don't have my order. The girl who took my order shouts from the background that I hung up on her before she could place the order and that she told me my card was declined. (which is completely untrue) Whether she heard the card number wrong or I didn't hear her and did indeed hang up on her, I told her that this could be avoided if she had given me a call to confirm if I wanted to place the order if someone abruptly hung up. That way we the miscommunication could be avoided in the future. This immature woman thought I was blaming her for the mishap and proceeded to scream at me to not "put this on her face". An older woman later agreed that she would have called back to confirm and asked me if I wanted a drink. I declined, still flabbergasted at the indigence of the immature woman who despite making a mistake, decided to act unprofessionally and scream at me for giving her constructive feedback. My boss wanted to try Indian food for lunch and said she had food from this restaurant before. I called as soon as the restaurant opened at 11:30 for for pick up at 12:30. I was told to pay with credit card, but I said we will pay in cash when we pick up the order. The person spoke with the Manager and told me they will accept cash. Didn't ask for my name or ph #. Which was a bit strange. It 's was a bit pricey, but thought the food would be good. Disappointed that the portions were small for 3 people and the food was cold. I think they made the food when I called it in, and had it sitting until I picked them up. We ordered the Samosa that came with 2 pieces and it was tasty. We also ordered the Lamb Boti Kabab, which was okay, but the Tandoori Shrimp was way over cooked. The chicken biryani rice was a bit dry and cold. Bottom line, we won't be going back there again because of the price and the food was cold. read more

They have a wierd system for ordering the food where you first need to order the food and then you are seated in the restaurant. And this is not conveyed correctly by the person at the counter. That can cause unnecessary confusion and delay. And there this no AC, which is the case with a lot of restaurants in the area. Well at least the prices are not that high. Update: due to the quick, timely, kind response I received from the restaurant and the quality of the food we were served I'm updating to 5. Sometimes we all have bumps but their intentions are in the right place and the food is undeniably good. Only giving 3 stars because although the food was great and the restaurant itself was cute, the service wasn't up to par. Prices are too high for the portions you're given and if you don't mind waiting at least 15 minuets to even see your server or get a glass of water then this place is ideal. Only thing saving this place is the fact that the food is on point. Definitely need more/better waiting staff or a training class on time management. read more

They served our naan 15 minutes after serving our dishes when everything was either over or cold. The staff were arguing behind the kitchen counter and we had to remind them to bring the rice with the chicken tika masala we ordered. Also, I'm pretty sure they served us butter chicken and not chicken till masala but vehemently denied it when we questioned them. Also there is a mandatory 18% service charge. We are so happy Bombay Palace has survived the pandemic, they are still the best Indian food on the island. Familiar Northern Indian dishes and consistent quality. Better than Cafe Maharani, Kamana Kitchen, and Himalayan Kitchen. Maybe not as good as some of the best places I've eaten on the mainland, but for our island it's the best of the bunch. (And we've eaten in Indian restaurants all over the U.S.) although it still bugs me that I can't get them to do a mutter paneer. Worth a trip ! read more

This is only a wait time/service review. We walked in around 6pm on a Wednesday, there was maybe one party in the waitlist ahead of us. They gave us a 20-25m wait time. After 40m, no updates. When we went back in and took a look around, it seemed like they were short staffed and most tables were waiting for their food. The interior of the restaurant is not bad. However the baryani just made me speechless on the first look. Never in my life I have seen such badly cooked baryani. Initially I thought there is a misunderstanding and I am served daal (lentil) instead. Not judging the book by it's title, I tasted it and the taste did complete justice to the looks.
