Our table of four had just received our drinks when the server tripped and dumped all four drinks across the table and onto three members of our party. The table was soaked, menus were ruined, and we all had to jump up immediately. Thankfully no glass broke. The issue wasn't the accident itself -- accidents happen. The issue was the complete lack of urgency, empathy, or professionalism afterward. The server ran off, and we were left standing there for quite a while before anyone came to help clean up. Nobody apologized. Nobody brought towels or napkins to help dry us off. We had to ask ourselves to be moved to another table. Then a manager came over and jokingly said, "I see you guys are spilling tea over there," which honestly felt bizarre considering three guests were covered in drinks. The food and service after we were reseated were good, but by the end of the meal we were shocked nobody had still apologized. When we finally asked to speak to the manager about some kind of accommodation, he acted inconvenienced, claimed he "didn't realize anyone got wet," and then later made another joke saying, "I covered the iced teas," after removing about $100 from our ~$250 bill. To be fair, the discount was appreciated and generous. But what stood out most was that at no point did anyone simply say, "We're sorry." Good food can't fully make up for poor hospitality and dismissive management. Unfortunately, after this experience, I wouldn't return. read more

This place definitely benefits from its location - right across the street from the Paramount Theatre and nearby the convention center. So it makes sense that the food doesn't need to be competitive. Fined here during Emerald City Comicon. They are located in the Summit Building of the Seattle Convention Center. While super busy they were quick to serve and the wait for a table was maybe 15 minutes. They had some drinks which played to their audience. Not sure if special for the event or just renamed. The Shadow Order was bourbon, all spice, orange, lemon, and tiki bitters. I loved the flavor combo on this and thankful I stopped at one. We had the margherita pizza. A more traditional cheese pizza with mozzarella and pecorino, tomato sauce and a few pieces of basil. What I enjoyed most was the well done thin crust. I was going to a show at the Paramount and wanted to grab a quick bite beforehand. Bombo is conveniently located across the street in the convention center, so I decided to try it out. We arrived during happy hour and there were a few small discounts off food and drink, so we ordered a variety of things to share. We ordered the focaccia bread (fluffy, well seasoned and lightly crispy on the outside), the calamari (fried well and with a little bit of spice - possibly from the aioli), the cacio e Pepe (richer and creamier than I expected but really flavorful and I loved the addition of mushrooms) the Bombo pizza. The pizza was probably my least favorite, only because the toppings would slide off if you tried to pick it up, and the crust was a little flimsy, so it was definitely a fork and knife situation. I went here with a few friends for happy hour to make use of the final days of InKind 2x referral bonus, as this is one of several restaurants that are in the network. It is overall not busy, with plenty of walk-in seating even at 7pm when we left. We got the Bombo pizza, Walla Walla pizza, Salame Piccante pizza, roasted beets, a glass of house red wine, and espresso cream cannoli dessert. Happy hour makes the pizza $18 which is a reasonable amount, since I would not find it worth paying $23-25 for a pizza during normal hours. The regular pizza dough is decent, and the gluten free pizza dough ($3 surcharge per pizza) is a bit crispy and chewy and it's a nice experience to try getting one with and without gluten free option. The Bombo reminds me of classic New York pizza where there's pepperoni and hot honey, but the hot honey misses the mark as it was not spicy. It's supposedly their signature pizza but while delicious, it did not stand out as I could just pay $4 for a generous slice of this type of pizza in NYC and would not notice a huge difference. Walla Walla is a nice mushroom pizza with egg though scrambled so it is not visible. I always love caramelized onion so I enjoyed this one. I'd say this is #1 given it is a bit more innovative than the Bombo pizza. Salame Piccante is quite peppery with the salami and pickled vegetables, and the pickled vegetables are not too sour to drown out the other flavors. My friend enjoyed it but I don't like pickled stuff so this ranks #3 for the pizza choices we got. Roasted beets were fresh, though I'm not a fan of beets so I cannot comment beyond that. Espresso cream cannoli was bad. The shell is stale and the espresso cream was not too strong in flavor. Service is pretty poor given they mandate a 20% gratuity on all checks. We have to flag and chase the server to put in the order especially when happy hour is approaching conclusion. There is not much checking up during the meal but at least they gave us water refills by the bottle. read more

This restaurant is located right at the main entrance to the Summit building of the Seattle Convention Center. It has a large patio that opens onto the entry courtyard. I had talked to several people who ate there prior to my visit, and they all said the food was excellent but was very expensive. Quite true. I feel like this isn't just an expense due to convenience, but because the food and service is very good. If you look at the fine print on the menu picture I uploaded, you'll see a statement about how they pay staff and that a 20% gratuity is included in all bills. I went with a friend. We sat at a cute two person table on the patio. The staff did a great job of accommodating for my friend's allergy. We shared an asparagus dip and house-made potato chip appetizer; it was incredibly delicious, but about half our chips were crumbs that were impossible to dip, but when we asked for more chips, the server had more brought out without quibbling. I had the Caesar salad, which was huge and very fresh. I had a local cider from Yonder along with it. My friend had the chicken parmigiana, which was huge. Let me start by saying we love ESR and Bombo. We come every time we're in town for a show and always tell friends to check it out. But this visit... something was just off, way off. We arrived early (around 11:30 AM) when only one other table was seated and were so excited to enjoy one of our favorite spots before a show. We started with wine and the calamari -- which was quite good. Then came the Caprese salad. It looked beautiful, but that's where it ended. The tomatoes were so mealy they were nearly inedible. We ate maybe a quarter of it. Unfortunately, our server never asked how it was, and when we mentioned it, she was already so busy it barely registered. Next up was the Salsiccia pizza to share. By that point, we were starving, and it came out within about four minutes -- which was telling. The crust wasn't fully cooked, and the heavy layer of cheese overwhelmed everything. They no longer provide scissors for slicing, and the kitchen hadn't cut it all the way through, making it awkward to eat. Service from there was pretty much nonexistent. Such a shame, because we've always raved about this place and have had so many great meals here in the past. We truly hope this was just an off day, but something has definitely changed. read more

No reservation needed on this Friday night, I walked in and was seated right away at a bar top looking straight at the theater. The low lighting and warm wood made it a cozy contemporary feel. Gigantic portions for one, the Italian Sub Salad would've been easily sharable. The Tagliatelle pasta combined interesting flavors of butter, balsamic vinegarette, and parmigiana reggiano. Robust flavors for sure! A couple glasses of an imported red recommended by the server was a great accompaniment. I appreciated the host explaining the auto gratuity of 22% while I was being seated. Went with my wife and daughter in the late afternoon. The layout is very nice with plenty of space for seating and all enclosed by large glass walls and a nice modern feel that's clean and subdued. There's also a cocktail lounge around the corner downstairs. This was a real treat for my wife and myself! We had so many food items. It's hard to remember all of them, but I will give it a try. We started with the beet salad with walnuts. We had focaccia with a garlic balsamic dressing. The Italian Grinder was excellent! The carpaccio with shaved fontina was awesome! Also had the Italian Sub salad. The Burrata had zucchini, pea shoots, pesto and sun dried tomatoes, loved it! Last but not least the Bombo Pizza with pepperoni, pecorino and hot honey glaze, also good. We had a couple of mocktails that were fantastic and delicious. The service was prompt and professional and no one rushed us in looking through the menu. We're from out of town so I may not be back for awhile, but will definitely go again when in town! So thankful there are late night food options around the Seattle Convention Center. Our flight got in late and our hotel restaurant didn't have any dinner after 10PM. This is a cute place with a lively bar crowd on a Friday night and open doors with some welcome fresh air. We were greeted within a few minutes by the bartender who also served the tables. He was friendly and helpful. We ordered a super nice rose wine and got a much needed pitcher of water to start. The appetizers came out in short order and were all tasty but just lukewarm. We loved the meatballs in sauce and the mushroom arancini in sauce. The beet and goat cheese salad was a nice tangy offset to the hearty meatballs. One thing we liked about the pizza was the vegetables were soft and was a mild flavored pizza, great combination. Good melt on the cheese and the crust wasnt hard. My friend liked the Tagliatelle because of the flavor of the pasta sauce. For drinks I ordered the Coffee Run, it was a strong whisky flavored drink with a good twist of bitters. A bit on the fence about this review. I feel like it's more of a 3.5 star experience but I'm rounding down to 3. Came for lunch with a couple of colleagues on a quiet Friday. The restaurant wasn't busy and we were seated promptly. I love the decor and can see it being a good spot to come in the evening. Both of my colleagues ordered the Caesar salad and were a bit disappointed to find that they don't offer much in the way of protein add ons. Seemed like a bit of a missed opportunity there. While I didn't try the salads myself, they seemed fine and my colleagues didn't mention any complaints. I went with a classic pepperoni pizza which was good, though not amazing. This is the second downtown restaurant that gives you scissors to cut the pizza yourself. I think it's an interesting novelty and can see why people would enjoy it, though I'd rather just have the pizza already cut. Overall, it was just an okay experience.
