Still a legit place for Banh Mi, Vietnamese Iced coffee and Viet snacks. They have a variety of sandwiches to choose from. My favorite is the honey bbq pork. As always they add all the fixings to the sandwich, as well as the spicy pepper. It's quite spicy so you decide if you want it or not. Iced coffee is strong, but gets better after the ice melts a bit. Make this place your first stop before day trips and pack up for the day!

WTF is this? This is why the banh mi is so dry!!!! Does this look like EXTRA PATE & MAYO???
    cutestuff c.

I use to come here all the time but now I go to banh mi fresh in happy valley off 82nd! I stopped coming here because I would always order the number 1 with EXTRA PATE AND MAYO. When I go home to eat my sandwich there is NO EXTRA PATE OR MAYO! So therefore my sandwich is really really dry! Who wants to eat a dry ass sandwich when the bread is already toasted and dry already. Plus I'm paying extra for PATE & MAYO and they don't UNDERSTAND to put EXTRA in it. This happened so many times that I had to call or go inside to tell and show them. The owner really needs to TRAIN all the workers who makes the banh mi and tell them how to spread EXTRA PATE AND MAYO on the bread when a customer is requesting for EXTRA PATE & MAYO and is paying for extra. When you have extra pate and mayo it tastes better and not so dry! I go to Banh Mi Fresh their banh mi is not so dry and it's dripping with sauce that they put in. Tastes so much better! I do order and have them add extra pate and mayo too! Give them a try and you will taste the difference! People who come here and think it's the best it's NOT you must have not tried many banh mi sandwiches. This is not the "BEST BANH MI" sandwich in Portland!

    3. Grilled Chicken

Had people over to replace heat and AC. I ordered 5 sandwiches and an asian chicken salad. Sandwiches were great. The salad was sad. It was lettuce with 3 tablespoons of chicken on it and a side of dressing of teriyaki and sesame oil. No go on salad. But the sandwiches great. They put the veggies on the side when you order through I delivery service so the bread stays perfectly crisp. It was my first time ordering a salad and probably the last. Love love love the sandwiches. I didn't take a picture of the salad. It was bad.

Jet lagged and hungry, this place was open at 7:30am on a weekday when we were in search of sustenance. This isn't the baguette you'll find in Vietnam (oblong-ish, light, flaky and airy); this is Portland baguette and that's ok, because it is flaky, crunchy, delicious, and tasty in its own right. We ordered the special, pork skin and shredded pork, sardine, and pate sandwiches. The standouts for our group were the shredded pork and pork skin as well as the sardine sandwich- Yes, I Did say a sardine sandwich at 7:30 AM. Love that they also serve other Vietnamese light foods like flan, Cheng Bo Liang, Che, meat buns, and croissants. Place was clean when we stopped by and bustling with workers churning out hot baked goods. There was only one employee that spoke English, so it was difficult to get quick service since she was hopping from the front to taking drive-thru orders to helping out doing other things. If you love Banh mi, it is def worth a visit here

We have been long time customers and this is our spot for convenient sandwiches. We grabbed 3 kinds of sandwiches - veggies, special, and ham and cheese and a couple of drinks. I ordered no ice and I noticed they didn't fill it up to the top. Had there been ice, I'm sure it would be full. The drink was okay - a little sweet on my end without much tea flavor. I wouldnt order the hakkiado again. For 3 sandwiches, it didn't take too long. Asked for no jalapenos and they followed through! Yeah! It looks like they make their bread fresh too. It's not old or dried or too crusty that cuts into the roof of the mouth. There are seats if you wish to sit down. They have some pastries in the glass case. Some looked ok and some just looked like rejects (how have it in there?) Ordered steam bun for little one who ate it all. The veggie sandwich was just ok. I was disappointed that there were just a lot of carrots and not enough other veggies. I didn't see any cucumbers - a few sprigs of cilantro and noodles.

Great sandwiches and Vietnamese coffees (try the French coffee if you don't want condensed milk!) with a drive through option!

Normally i ordered the grilled pork and beef sandwich or the combination one was good but yesterday was no meat day for fasting. I ordered tofu sandwhich. They gave me like 3 small pieces for a whole sandwhich. It didnt taste good neither.

With that being said, I do think that the food could use a bit more work. The restaurant is called Luc Lac, and so naturally I ordered their namesake dish. The beef was not very tender or juicy and the flavors overall seemed to be lacking. Portion sizes, however, are very generous, so I'll give them that. I tried the Durian Horchata and sadly could not taste any durian flavor. I know that durian can be an acquired taste (and smell), but the drink just tasted like a regular horchata with some hints of pandan. Maybe I will return to try their cocktails.

The egg noodle bowl on the top with fried chicken and tofu was phenomenal. The chicken was similar to fish sauce wings and the tofu was very caramelized and had a nice salty coating of sauce. Downtown Portland's hidden gem for authentic Vietnamese!…read more I was walking around downtown Portland and stumbled upon Cuốn Vietnamese Street Food, and honestly, it was the best meal of my week . If you are looking for fresh, flavorful, and satisfying comfort food, do not walk--run to this spot. To get the full experience, we ordered a variety, and every single item was a hit. We started with the Beef Pho, and the broth was the absolute star. It was rich, aromatic, and deeply savory, clearly simmered for hours. It was the perfect dish on a sunny Portland day. We also grabbed a Chicken Banh Mi. The bread had that perfect crispy crust with a soft, airy crumb, and the chicken was grilled to perfection with fresh veggies and herbs. Of course, we had to wash it all down with a creamy, sweet Thai Tea--it was delicious and the perfect end to the meal. Beyond the food, the vibe is great. It's a super clean, casual spot with big windows letting in lots of natural light. It's set up for quick counter service, which makes it perfect for a fast lunch downtown, but the staff is so friendly and welcoming that you feel right at home. It's a family-run business, and you can taste the passion in the food. Highlights: · The Pho Broth: Seriously some of the best in the city. · The Banh Mi: Fresh bread, great fillings. · The Service: Fast, efficient, and incredibly kind. Pro Tip: Don't forget to grab your own utensils and sauces (the chili crisp is a must for the pho), and help yourself to the free self-serve hot tea. It's the little touches like that which make this place a winner. I am already planning my next trip back to try the Crispy Pork Belly. Highly recommend

Positives: fresh, well made, very flavorful proteins. Cons:…read morePrice I tried Cuon for the first time and enjoyed it. I went for a Vermicelli bowl where you get to pick 2 proteins. I selected Pork Belly (their specialty) and lemongrass chicken. The bowl itself is standard Vietnamese fare, nothing special, creative or exciting in that sense. That said, the ingredients tasted fresh and the proteins were very well seasoned and cooked. The pork belly skin had an awesome crunch and you can clearly taste the lemongrass in the chicken. The included spring roll had nice crunch but little flavor. Unfortunately, outside of Pho, Banh Mi and Noodle Bowls, there's sadly not much else to the menu. No Vietnamese salads, stir frys, etc. Either way, what they do make, they seem to make quite well. So, on to my main issue ie, that for a place thats only open for lunch, the prices are a bit too high. I noted about $16 for a Banh Mi sandwich, no sides. Pho was around $20 and my noodle bowl was about $20 as well. Weirdly, its about the same prices as eating lunch back home in Miami, a FAR more expensive city in general. In fact, I've often had more exciting Vietnamese in Manhattan for lower prices. So while its easy to recommend Cuon on quality, its not a top recommendation for lunch value in the PDX which is why Im docking 1 star.
