This is a small mom and pop place. Looks kinda cozy but because of the tin on the ceiling it's really very noisy place when there aren't that many people in there. The menus have fancy names and prices but the food did not taste like it was freshly made. The sweet potato mash was good but it was cold. The jalapeño grits were cold and dry. The redfish was ok. The mango salsa was ok but tasted prepared and not fresh. The peach tea was sweet tea with peach flavor added. The shrimp and Tasso pasta was too salty and the lump crab cake was overdone on the outside and watery on the inside. We visited Bon Temps Grill about a month ago. We arrived for a very late lunch (about 3:30 pm) and one of the servers opened the door for us to welcome us. We were immediately seated near the only other couple dining. (More on them later)! Our server was very helpful and recommended the meatloaf and crawfish pie. I did get the crawfish pie and grits, but my husband got something else that wasn't memorable. However the crawfish pie was something to remember! It was full of crawfish and seasoned to perfection. The crust was so light and flaky I thought it might fly off the bowl. The meal was so yummy that two weeks later I went back alone to order the same thing. Again the pie was perfect. I had leftovers this time and our server boxed it up for me. The other couple was totally enjoying the alcoholic drinks. They were not obnoxious or over doing it, but just kept mentioning how good their drinks were and the drink specials. This is one local restaurant you don't want to miss. read more

One of the best dining experiences... Our waitress Amanda was the absolute best, she had jokes, my glass stayed filled and my food arrived quickly...she checked on us often... My Waitress Shawntell was beyond amazing and you can tell she have years of experience... Even tho i felt it was a tad bit over priced with the lunch feature... She assured quality. Went for dinner on a Wednesday night- it was busy but we only waited for 5 minutes. Had 2, tween boys with me who ordered the alligator over boudin and cheese and the chicken pasta ( Cajun Alfredo sauce?). I ordered the shrimp and grits and a cup of chicken & sausage gumbo. The main dishes were all good and the gumbo was worse than bad. It was lukewarm had the consistency and color of slightly dirty water. It appeared there was no roux to speak of - it was very disappointing. I mentioned that to the waiter who did not offer to comp it. Note I did not eat it. For dessert we had bananas foster bread pudding which was ok. Would have been a 4 star meal but I took another star off for the the bad gumbo and being changed for it. read more

We enjoyed the food and how our waitress and the manager treated us. They are absolutely friendly and caring. The food was very good too. We tried the "Stuffed Mushroom," "Bird and Andouille Gumbo," and "Shrimp & Grits." All delicious! We will definitely come back again. I visited Bon Temps Grill with Cajun Food Tours (which I highly recommend) where we got to taste alligator legs. If they would have told me what it was at first I probably would not have partaken, but they were marinated and then dipped in a homemade cajun BBQ sauce. They were so tender and good I ignored that they were alligator legs. We returned and got the Seafood stuffed mushrooms which were great. I also highly recommend the Crawfish Pot Pie. Must have been an off day for the chef. We had crab cakes, crawfish pot pie, grilled talapia and meatloaf. Very disappointed. Everything except the crawfish was way over seasoned. We are from southwest Louisiana and know our spice. The crab cakes had more filler then crab. The meatloaf was over fried but acceptable. The fish brought tears to your eyes from the spice. The crawfish etouffee pot pie was just the opposite. It was bland. I guess is we mixed everything together it would have been just right. The 2 stars are for the service. We eat at a lot of places in Lafayette but this one is now on our danger list. read more

We are glad we discovered this place. Thanks Yelp! We ate there Friday night and it was really busy. However, the hostess seated us right away. She was very polite and welcoming. Right away, the server was at the table to welcome us. She was super attentive and answered all our questions. I ordered a burger and my partner ordered the shrimp and Tasso pasta. Man they were good. The pasta was cooked perfectly and had an amazing cream sauce. My burger was amazing. Simple but really complex. Loved the flavor combinations. The bun had to have been made by baby angels...it was that good. We also tried the grits which were seasoned with jalapeño. Yum! You also have to try the fries. Kinda a cross between French fries and hash browns. Needless to say, we made two happy plates. I do want to mention the service. First all, the restaurant was well staffed. There were plenty of servers and support staff. Likewise, they worked well together. Our server, Amanda, was a pure delight. She seemed to really enjoy serving us...something that is hard to find. My first time trying them and I was not disappointed. Wished they gave us more bread to sop up the delish sauce that was left over. I felt that it was such a waste to see it go. I had the Grilled Chili Butter Shrimp for dinner. Everything was perfect. Not overcooked. Not too saucy. Not too spicy. The potato mash was heavenly. I cannot say enough good stuff about their food.
