The fries are usually $4.95 but I decided to spring for the seasoned fries and I failed to evaluate the price. The salt and parsley they added to the fries cost an additional 60%, for $7.95. I've been to Bonchon's all over from the South Bay to the Tri-City area to the East Bay and this is by the far the worst one I've ever been to. Whoever is running this location has no idea what they're doing and you can obviously tell from the cheap routes they're trying to take. They def made their chicken wings smaller than standard which is followed by their lack of flavor compared to the good Bonchons I've eaten at numerous times. Bulgogi was so salty that they shouldn't have names it bulgogi in the first place, those who know do know bulgogi should taste the opposite. Their Jhap Chae was mushy, greasy, and lacked of that infamous Bonchon jhap chae flavor. For First-Timers and Bonchon fans, do yourself a favor and go to the Pleasanton location instead. Their standards are leagues above this location. So disappointed. "Complimentary" sides are literally inside a to-go sauce container (you know, the ones that are about as wide as a quarter). The premium fries are $7 and would pass for a small at any fast food joint. Chicken tenders aren't tiny, but they are on the smaller side. There's not even a line in here. Literally we were the only ones aside from two other parties who also left because they heard it was a 2 hour wait. "Online orders are shut off." Ummm no they're not. If they were I wouldn't have been able to order. "We don't control those online services." You literally do. Restaurants choose which services they will work with. And you just told me you turned online orders off so you contradicted yourself. "We ran out." Of your primary item? CHICKEN? Literally the reason people come here is for chicken and you don't have that? That's not a way to run a business. Poor planning/staffing/trend analysis. "We don't have enough people." I can see like 8 people in back. That's a lot of people. And if you don't have enough people to run the business you're not ready to open. "We don't have a phone number or email you can call for complaints." Hmmm, funny I found one on the Bonchon website. And they take feedback for specific sites, complete with time and order number. The manager on duty was extremely RUDE. Never once apologized and just made excuses the whole time. He kept talking over me. He said he's "trying to do this with just one person" - I assume he meant one cashier. But the cashier doesn't make the chicken so that doesn't explain anything. "We're not fast food." Literally you have no tables and one chair inside. So your business model is pick up food, not dine in. But you expect people to wait 2 hours? Even a sit down restaurant doesn't make me wait 2 hours from ordering to get my food. I'd rather drive to Dublin for Bonchon that won't take the length of a feature film to make. I could even get to Berkeley with the 2.5 hours they were quoting people who walked in the door by the time we left. I was so excited for them to come to Brentwood. I think this place needs to settle their ticketing ordering system as I've had issues placing an order , receiving an email confirmation with a time to pick up the order then showing up an hour later at the expected time to hear an employee say they only just received my order I should wait another hour isn't really the response I was expecting. Listening to another customer around me it's happened to them, some were waiting longer than I did. I decided to cancel my order to which they said wait a few days to receive the cancellation verbally, that's it. It seems intermittent as other customers waited an hour and got their food within an hour. I wouldn't send an email confirmation to a customer with an expected time to be ready when it's a separate time when the store says they receive the order. Update: I tried this place again. I received a wait time of 2 hours ordering through their app. An hour into the wait I called to check the status. They did deliver my order on time (2 hours after placing the order). The food was crispy and flavorful. I ordered the Japchae, Fried Rice, seasoned fries, boneless chicken, wings and drum sticks. Soy flavor is our favorite. We were so excited this opened since we moved from the East bay where there are tons of Bonchons. This place is disappointing! Placed an order online, okay cool one hour wait. Ran errands and when I got there, order was not ready. When I got my order, thankfully I checked it in the car and soooo many pieces of chicken were missing including our side order of radish. I am happy a Bonchon location opened up near by where I live, I ordered through Yelp online grub hub. Getting there it was busy and my order wasn't done yet, but I got my order within a hour or so total from ordering it, and it was good. I do feel bad for the workers because of how much people would be upset over the wait times. I get it, no one wants to wait a hour for food but I grew used to this as I had experience with other Korean fried chicken places....food was good, coleslaw, kimchi, chicken. Everything was good. Tried them for the first time this week and it was outstanding!! The staff was friendly and extremely patient and helpful as it was our first time there. Wings were so crispy and had options for the sauces. The fried rice was so flavorful.. especially with the bulgogi addition. The street corn has a great twist on its Hispanic brother. If you're looking for less expensive fast food, this isn't it, not because it's over priced but because it's superior quality. sorry I was trying to give this spot the benefit of the doubt since it just opened. the cashier was rude in letting us know waiting for fried chicken would be an hour wait and they weren't even closed or near to closing. ordered two orders of fried rice - for $15 they didn't even bother to fill the containers. my sign should have been when another guy walked in and requested for a refund very angrily. management needs to help support their workers be more customer friendly bc that wasn't the way to treat customers who could potentially be your consistent customers. They're doing much much better on the wait time after ordering now It was an hour plus wait when they first opened, which I thought was Way too long, so I passed on it initially ..waited a few months for the hype to die down & door dashed it but it definitely would've been worth the wait!! It's a little on the pricey side, especially for the portion sizes, but could be worth it in my opinion bc it's unlike anything else we have around here. The only recommendations I'd make is: 1- fountain drinks!! 2- a little station with napkins, utensils, sauce packets, etc for their customer's convenience obviously, especially while dining in. The foods priced too high to not have those typical "amenities" available to everyone.
