Came here today since my other sushi place didn't open until 12:30 and this place was open at noon. Service was just as bad as a year ago. The other two couples got their food and I was waiting over 30 mins for 2 orders of nigiri and a fried roll. Next time I will just wait the half hour until the other place opens. Will NOT return! Had to ask for ginger, wasabi and water since the waitress never checked on me. The saba did not taste fresh and the nigiri fell apart. I hoped the fly that joined me for lunch today enjoyed the left over rice I left. I burnt extra calories at lunch today by shooing it away. Yes... I tipped, but did NOT deserve it! read more

I really wished I could give this place a 5 Star but there were a few misses. We went at 2:30 on a Sunday so there was only one other couple in the restaurant who already had their food and drink. First thing I noticed is the main dining room floor is very sticky. You can hear your shoes making a detaching sound with each step. We were sat promptly. Took our drink order and left. Hot tea and water, it took 10 minutes to come back. Once again, only new customers in the restaurant. When she returned she took our order, my mom had a bento with beef teriyaki and tempura. I ordered the deluxe Sushi Nigiri. That took twenty minutes to come out. The tempura was very hot but the beef teriyaki was cold and undercooked. By this time mom was very hungry so she just ate a few pieces. They also had 3pieces of California roll on the plate. It was strange the crab mix had a weird texture and just tasted light mayo. As for my Deluxe Sushi, meh, nothing special. The fish was very thinly sliced just enough to cover the rice with some color. Lastly, once served, our waitress never returned to ask how everything was or even to refill my water. It looked as if she was behind the sushi bar arguing with a fellow employee. I got hungry while waiting to pick up my husband at Antioch bart station so decided to order a few items on a whim and boy oh boy, do I just regret it. First off, I walked in to pick up my order and restaurant was empty, and there was no one at the entrance. Walked over to the bar while a customer was being helped and the Asian lady was super rude -- basically gestured me with her fingers to tell me to go back to the door even though I explained I had a pick up order. A younger man later came and helped me. Now onto the food -- I'm from SF and have been to Japan multiple times, so I know what good Japanese food is. 1) ordered salmon teriyaki + spicy pork combo but they gave me spicy chicken in a styrofoam container so all the sauce spilled inside the bag. Salmon was dry and hard. 2) fried calamari rings. Disgusting. Soggy and cold. Not crispy at all. I didn't feel safe eating this. 3) lion king roll. Salty. 4) last but not least -- chicken udon. They mixed the noodles with the broth. Why???? I've always had noodles and broth packed separately from other restaurants. Now it will be soggy even before I start eating it. Taste wasn't good at all either - so bland and tasteless. For all those giving 5 stars and saying this place has the best sushi, I highly recommend trying Neko Sushi in Brentwood or venturing out to SF. I promise you that you have NOT tried enough Japanese restaurants to say this place is the best. Waste of money but all the food except the free miso soup will be thrown out. read more

Nice ambiance, clean environment, decent food, overall a nice place! I went against the grain when coming here for lunch and ordered the Spicy Pork instead of sushi (Everyone thought I was weird). I'm glad I did though as I was craving some comfort food (rice, meat, veggies and a little heat!). Well this place delivered what I was looking for. The veggies were al dente which was a nice touch and the jalapeno's delivered the kick I was looking for! I don't typically venture out into the Antioch area but if I'm ever in that neck of the woods again I'll definitely come back. I took two stars away because the caterpillar roll was an upcharge from the basic eel and cucumber I was originally ordering... There's barely any eel and just loaded with cucumbers. That tiny dark spot is the "eel". If I didn't want the eel, I would have ordered the cucumber roll. I was pretty hungry so I devoured the first roll - I was surprised how small the size of these rolls were because when I've ordered two different kinds, they've come in sleeves like this by themselves at other places. Both fit in here and I'm still hungry which doesn't happen. Might be worth trying the Buffett for this price. read more

Great service stopped in to place a to go order I haven't been here since maybe the late 90's early 2000's well I decided to try it after many years. The sushi was top notch packed with flavor and super fresh! It all went well together with the soy sauce, pickle ginger and wasabi! The staff is very friendly after I placed my to go order I decided to grab a soda while I waited and the lady at the front dropped a sushi roll keychain with my soda free on the house. That was a nice gesture and she offered to refill my drink right away as well. Overall the food was on point and I need to support local business more often so I will definitely be back! The ambiance was very quiet and calm perfect place to get a bite to eat solo or with a group of friends or family. This place is a hidden gem inside the Hillcrest crossroads shopping center at Larkspur and Hillcrest right behind the Antioch Tap house and next to County Market. Check it out! They did not disappoint me! I ordered to go the order took a little longer but it was packed nicely (perfect easy to pull knot!), fresh, hot and delicious! I also ordered a side of California rolls. Kabuki is really underrated!! Their fish is fresh and have good portions. We ordered the Hamachi Carpaccio and it was soo good, super flavorful and tangy, get it if you're looking to splurge! As for their rolls we enjoyed them as well especially for the price point, these days rolls are reaching or already $20 a roll. But kabuki has really realistic and affordable prices $10-16 a roll! Would come back here again! Staff were friendly and informative when asked questions! This time, my teriyaki salmon was like a hockey puck with sauce tossed on like an afterthought. And the shrimp tempura was rock hard and difficult to bite through. Another was the beef teriyaki plate. It was too thick, which must mean they use cheap meat!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't even get me started on the Tempura. The batter was too thick and pointy, so it hurt when we chewed it!!!!!!!!!!!! The people are nice but, they didn't give us any napkins in our to go order and most of the food was in cheap breakable styrofoam containers. This was by far the best sushi we've had locally. I haven't been in years, but we decided to give it a chance. We placed a pick up order through DoorDash. We ordered the following sushi an Antioch Roll, Lion King Roll, Spicy California Roll, and California Roll. The Antioch Roll was by far the best it is deep fried to perfection and the crunch isn't overwhelming. The sauces all really work great on the Antioch Roll it's our favorite now. The Lion King Roll was good, but I feel like it gets a little soggy because it is baked in foil. In my opinion it's best to get that one if you are eating at the restaurant. Both of the California rolls were delicious. The quality of the sushi and pricing were fantastic. We will definitely be stopping by again soon. read more
