I spent $50 for boneless wings which would normally be pieces of chicken breast. I would have even been ok with dark meat. This is minced meat formed into a patty. Yes I enjoyed the glaze, but I could have gotten 60 pieces of McDonald's nuggets for 21ish dollars. I should have just gotten the drums, but at over $3 per leg, it can get pricey. Our Delicious Lunch Adventure at Bonchon We were in Elk Grove visiting family for lunch and decided to try something new. Bonchon came up as a good option. When we got there, the place was hopping, and there was a line for takeout! I viewed that as a good omen! Bonchon is located in the Laguna Gateway Center and has a big sign that can't be missed. Inside is a counter with more than half a dozen chairs and plenty of tables from which the customers can choose. The dining area's look and feel are trendy and seem to attract younger clients. The menu offers starters, main dishes, sides, soup, salads, and drinks. However, their fried chicken seems to have a special place and is very popular with clients. We ordered a few smaller plates to taste as many items as possible! The Shrimp Shumai was good. Pork Potstickers were even better, and their French Fries were just right, but the Korean Tacos were excellent! The young lady serving our table was very personable and good at her job. We were happy with the service and enjoyed our meals. If you wonder what we thought of the Korean Fried Chicken, I won't keep you waiting! It was delicious. We tried two different variations with different sauces and enjoyed it all! The drumsticks were not as enjoyable since the chicken meat has no taste. So definitely need some sauce when eating those. The fried rice was okay. They don't chop the veggies here well. This is just an update on my, still had to pay $14 "spoiled food/dirty hands experience" that I had here a few weeks ago, So I did end up getting food poisoning, not enough to put me in the hospital but enough to make me burn a sick day at work. So, if you've had similar experiences, I encourage one and all to file a complaint with the county health department. Because complaining to this company will get you nothing but an Ai generated, ("we're sorry, thank you for your assistance in bringing this to our attention") email. If they felt that way they would issue me back my measly $14 for a menu item that I only took two bites out of and sent back after instantly noticing the tenge of spoiled meat, you know they didn't even offer some sort of credit compensation. Coleslaw and their house sauce finished up this relatively "healthy" taco (soft flour tortilla not DF'd. Flavorful and filling dinner, along with the mixed drums/wings. Loved everything their offerings; only negative was several appetizers were crossed off their paper menu and online (fried zucchini, onion rings). Oh well, but one detailed item I must bring up...their plastic container that housed the 3 tacos. This nice and spacious restaurant has plenty of tables available to accommodate a large following of customers. My neighbor had a craving for their famous Korean fried chicken, specifically, a small order of 5 soy garlic drumsticks. Served with a complimentary side of pickled radish or coleslaw. My two friends also ordered a Sesame Ginger salad each. Spring mix, onions, sesame seeds, red bell peppers, and cucumbers topped with sesame ginger dressing. They also added in some tofu to the mix. I ordered a bowl of House Fried Rice: A traditional wok-prepared dish with your choice of their famous Soy Garlic chicken, Spicy chicken, or marinated ribeye with Jasmine rice, fresh vegetables, and fried egg topped with sesame seeds and a cucumber garnish. Since I prefer vegetarian dishes, I had my rice served plain without meat. The rice was good, but I got full fast and had to take the rest home. Came for dine in service. We were seated quickly and our server was very kind! We got the Seoul Sampler to share and I got a soy & garlic glazed Mopo corndog as well. Overall, the flavors were great! Really enjoyed how almost everything tasted. However I was disappointed in the temperature of some of the food itself. The Mopo corndog, Wings and Gyoza were hot!! But the sides for the Sampler were definitely not. The street corn was not hot, it was about room temp and the fries were the same. It was like the hot sides had been prepared first and sat while while chicken was cooked. Despite the bulgogi french fries lacking warmth, they were cispy and the bulgogi had good flavor and texture. They were still enjoyable! The street corn did not fair as well. It didn't have good flavor and I'd love to give it another chance, just actually hot/warmed up! Wasabi. The wings had the perfect crispy texture but they only offer two flavors. I wasn't too big a fan of either. The spicy one is pretty spicy. I ordered the Tteokbokki and it was such a disappointment. It lacked authenticity of what Tteokbokki should taste and look like. I believe it was made with hot sauce because that's what it looked and tasted like. Should be made with spicy Korean paste, but I did not taste that at all. The pork buns were delicious. We got the bulgogi fries also and it was alright. The fries were crispy and seasoned with garlic and parmesan cheese.
