I found this restaurant when I was in Northern California and last night I was craving wings so I searched all over to find some wings and everywhere is very expensive so my brain said what about that place called Bonchon that I had in Northern California and as well over by Magic Mountain. Well I was super happy to see that there was one near my hotel while I was staying in Orange County. I ordered it online and picked it up. When I walked into the restaurant, it seemed very clean very few customers, but overall the staff was friendly and I was in and out pretty quick. :-) Problem my head was when I got back to my hotel there was no napkins or fork. Otherwise, the food itself was delicious as always. You can get the mixed box like I do and be extremely full. Rating is not for the food (I've had bonchon at various other locations multiple times so I know they are usually consistent) but for the service. Called in for an order around 6:30 PM in the evening -- they took down my name and plan was for me to pay at the time of pick up. Got there an hour later (which should be plenty of time considering it was not super crowded) and I'm met with confusion -- apparently they didn't have my order ready so someone at the counter went to the back kitchen. 10 minutes later she comes back, my husband goes to pay and we are told by the young man at the register "oh you're good" as in it's already paid for (which we clearly had not). We looked through the receipt and realized the order they gave us was the wrong order but this other customer shared the same first name. Other locations have asked me for the last 4 of my phone at the time of confirmation to avoid this. It was close to 8 PM at this point and I was so fed up with having to potentially wait for another 20 minutes (assuming my order will not be mixed up again) for them to prepare the food again and being pregnant I just opted to cancel my order and take my business elsewhere because I was so hungry at that point I honestly would have not been able to tolerate another mix up with my food. They offered to take my husband's number to have their manager reach out to discuss the situation but we have yet to hear from them. read more

Ordered for superbowl more than 72 hours ahead for the superbowl and it's 40 mins after the time we requested and no explanation. I get that mistakes happen or orders are overlooked but there's a way to handle this with grace and that was not the case here. The two servers or counter folks just went to the back kitchen to hide. When other customers came they'd come out to give their orders but otherwise didn't make any attempt to explain or share the reason why my order wasn't ready. When I asked 40 minutes later they said they didn't see my ticket. Had they just told me that at the start and said they'd start the order and an actual estimate it would've been fine. But to dodge the whole issue and lie when I arrived by saying just 5 minutes is wrong. And no apology. No offer to make anything right. On this rainy day my youngest was craving Korean fried chicken so we decided to try this place out and take it to go. We ordered 30 pieces of spicy and soy garlic wings and an order of dukboki. The wings are fried crispy....this was a ! The spicy sauce was indeed spicy and not too overwhelming, soy garlic was not bad either- it was okay. I will say even after glazing it the sauces soaked in well to the chicken and wasn't soggy! Dukboki on the other hand....total miss! I'm sorry can we please go back to how dukboki is supposed to taste or at least keep close to how it should originally taste and keep it simple? Now if customers want to add cheese, make it an option, not a standard? Seaweed roll wrapped in noodles were added into this too...this too can be an option...it's really unnecessary! The soy garlic fried chicken is so addictive, and my dad calls the yangneom flavor, "candy apple chicken". The staff is always friendly and recently we dos get a chance to eat there and met a nice guy named Alex. Next time we went in to pick up food he remembered my dad and all of our names! So welcoming! I also enjoyed the history of Bonchon on the walls with maps, timelines, and pictures. DO NOT ORDER DRUMSTICKS HERE At first, you'd be pleasantly surprised because the drumsticks are huge. The skin of the fried chicken is crispy and moderately saucy. But the enjoyment stops there. The actual meat part is utterly bland and flavorless. It's overcooked (or over boiled?) Once you finish the skin, you're with a giant piece of tasteless meat. Ive been going here for the chicken many years. Decided to try their Bibimbap this past week and it was excellent. Hot plate came extra hot as it should and the meal was hot beginning to end. Every bite was amazing and this is a great spot for Bibimbap too. Hard not to fill up on the great chicken when Im there. Parking is fair, not always up front but the lot is huge and always spots to get. The guy who covers the floor is super nice and attentive. My friend and I came here and ordered the Seoul Sampler -- 15/10. The chicken was incredibly crisp and flavorful, the seasoning was mind-blowing. The bulgogi fries were also a 15/10, the fries could've been a bit crispier but i'll digress. We weren't fans of the coleslaw or the corn, but everything else was great. I'm giving it 4 stars mainly because the restaurant was empty and our server was pretty much MIA until it was time to pay. The ambiance, though, was really nice -- no heavy fried-food smell, and the music was at the perfect volume. The best Korean friend chicken spot. Their service is amazing everytime I come in or even order out and their workers are very attentive. Whenever I come in, they greet us and seat us right away. My wife and I ate here for the first time tonight, and needless to say, we will be back. Firstly, the service was superb. I ordered the food over the phone, and it was ready when I arrived 15 minutes later. My wife and I ordered the Seoul Sampler and the pork belly buns. And each dish was expertly cooked, prepared, and sauced. Good lord the SAWCE. We got the soy garlic sauce and the skin was SO crispy and the meat was moist and delicious. The pork belly buns were good, but after having such flavorful chicken, we agreed next time to get more wings. The bulgogi fries are fantastic. Meat was tender, fries were perfectly crispy. Can't say much about ambiance, as we had take out. However, from what I saw the draft beers look amazing, seating looks plentiful, and again, the service was great. This location has a lot of parking spaces but its also in a plaza with a lot of other popular restaurants so i'm sure it can get hectic sometimes. 6/1/23 - We ordered ahead for pick-up and sat outside to eat our food. I recommend ordering ahead for a bigger order because the online interface is easy to use and it minimizes wait time when you pick up. Both the interior and outdoor seating were clean. For the 3 of us, we ordered a family meal which includes 12 wings and 6 drums (we got the soy garlic flavor), fried rice, and 2 sides (fries and pickled radishes). I would recommend getting a family meal for a party of 3 or 4. The soy garlic chicken was good in flavor, but in my opinion, it got overwhelming eating too much saucy chicken in one meal. Next time, I will probably do half soy garlic and half no sauce to give the meal a texture change and not be so overwhelming. read more

Okay, this place is a chain, so I already knew had expectations for this place based on previous experiences at other locations. Sadly, this establishment was not consistent in terms of quality or service. First, the food. There were more options on the menu here than at other places I've been to! We ordered several dishes, and I'll briefly review each one. The onion rings were burnt to a crisp. The moment they came out, I knew they'd be, based on the dark brown coating. Very disappointed. Order the fries instead; they looked better. The chicken strips were just okay, but I'd recommend the actual wings and drumsticks instead because the strips seemed to be made of pressed chicken (of a patty-like quality). The spicy is super spicy!! The popcorn shrimp was a definite miss; the pieces were thickly coated in batter, and the shrimps were tiny enough already. Also, they were kind of unseasoned, but it does come with a sauce to help that. Finally, the kimchi bacon fried rice was the best thing we ordered. We were actually able to finish this plate. Second, the service. Honestly, I think this is an area for improvement. We asked for small plates to share the platter of chicken strips, and the waitress told us that they didn't have any more plates available because they were all in the dishwasher. What? I found this really odd...they didn't have any plates during dinner service?? And then, they didn't even offer any alternatives. I had the idea to ask for to-go containers to use as makeshift plates...Then I noticed that they started to do that for other tables as well. The kitchen also seemed to forget one of our dishes; everything else had came out, and we had to remind the waiter of the forgotten one. That being said, each table is equipped with buttons to page your waiter when you want to order, pay, or ask for their attention. I thought that was pretty cool! I really wish I had a better experience at this Bonchon because I know that the food and service can definitely be good at this chain. Arrived on a Friday night. There was a good amount of people but we did not have to wait to get seated. Ordered a small order of wings with half soy garlic & half spicy sauce and the bulgogi house fried rice. The sodas have unlimited refills if you dine in. The nutrition information for all of their menu items is available on their website as well. The wings were decent, they were very crispy and hot when they came out. They were a little dry but the sauce helped with that. The soy garlic did not have much garlic flavor, I could taste more sweetness than soy or garlic. The spicy sauce was pretty spicy, I had to take breaks in between wings otherwise it would be too much for me. The bulgogi fried rice was really good, I would come back just to eat that. There was a good amount of bulgogi meat in the rice, and I liked that they added bell peppers to it. We ordered the mochi for dessert and they have a large selection of mochi flavors to choose from. We got the salted caramel, strawberry and mango flavors. 100% recommend getting the salted caramel flavor, it tasted like buttery caramel. The mango flavor was pretty tart, like the mango was a bit too green. I was worried when our small order of wings came out that we did not order enough food but the wings plus the rice and mochi was a good amount of food for two people. read more

Service is good, we came a few times and seems most people are friendly and knowledgeable about all the items and what to try and how they taste. This helps out when we tried some flavors. Not thick like some other places. The wings came out hot, juicy & tender. Both the sauces were not drenched over the wings. I don't like overly saucy wings as it tastes soggy to me. These were lightly sauced which covered the entire wings so the wings stayed crispy! I appreciated the sauce ratio! The Soy Garlic sauce was a good balance of sweet & savory. The Spicy sauce was good but too SPICY for me. It was a good SPICY if you know what I mean. Looking to plumb your lips naturally, put a little of this sauce on it. I promise in 20 seconds, you'll have plumb lips! 02. Seasoned French Fries $7.35 - 5 Stars - No wonder it says "MUST TRY" on the menu! These fries were so darn GOOD! The batter was super crispy but yet light. Perfect seasoning so you don't even need any sauce to go with it. 03. Pickled Radish $2.15 - 5 Stars - Crunchy, lightly sweetened and REFRESHING! I liked that these were perfectly pickled and NOT too vinegary or too sweet. These are probably my favorite radishes from the local Korean Fried Chicken restaurants. This is a MUST HAVE if you are ordering the Spicy Wings. It really cuts thru the heat!!! CUSTOMER SERVICE - Friendly staff, very attentive and quick to serve. FOODS - The wings were really good, LOVE the batter and sauce flavors! One of the BEST Korean Fried Chicken in town. I love how simple they kept the wings, you have either the Spicy or the Soy Garlic sauce! LOCATION - Between KIN Ramen and The Vox Kitchen. After pulling up, she hands me a bag that belonged to Anton. My response was, "Did you even bother checking the confirmation? This is for Anton, and my name is Ana." Eventually, I did get my order, which I thanked her for, and received no response. Instead, just a shirk response of "get what you need over there (utinsels)" as she walked away.
