Christmas Day and every BBQ place was busy. My dad wanted to grab the Peking duck but the wait time was too long so he tried the soy sauce braised duck on the suggestion of the store clerk. He should have just waited for the Peking as the tastier option. Please come and create your own adventure.

There are so many BBQ restaurants where should you go to? it depends on your situation, most if not everybody I know said Lien Hoa, in Little Saigon, they are the oldest one in Westminster but they are not for me. The taste of the BBQ duck was good but the duck was 100% not cooked long enough, it was chewy, as I said in my other reviews I do not have scissors teeth or even Fred Flinstone teeth!! so FUGGEDABOUDIT, end of story. I have come here since their grand opening, they used to be called DUONG SON located in the same mall 1 block away where my Doctor brother had his medical office so we used to dine there often. They used to have a full Chinese amazing food restaurant attached to the BBQ restaurant. They moved to this location years ago and morphed into NEW DUONG SON restaurant. They no longer have a restaurant but they had a fast food counter selling Chowfun, sauteed green beans, fried dough, etc.. I particularly love the pickles they sold, kim chee, I love their cabbage marinated in vinegar, excellent taste to go w the duck. A customer came to pick up a full roasted pig, heo quay, OMYGAWD, huge pig, it must be for a big party, I was told it was $200, enough to feed a village ! Their duck was always juicy and tender, you wont need to go to a dentist to repair damage from eating WALKING DUCKS! I'm tempted to rate them 5 stars but I was turned off by their constantly jacking up prices, it was $28 not that long ago, it was now $32 on 12-14-2024.

1/1/2025 $10.33 for this roasted pork plate

Service- ok Ambiance- can be hectic, order to go only Food- tastes good like how it should taste and prices are similar to any other establishment of this sort. This time, I ordered the roast pork with one choice of veggies over rice and it was only $10.33 after taxes. That is such a steal! I was surprised by how much meat was on the plate. Cash only

The food is good, but if you want your food being handled with the same gloved hands that was just sweeping one second before, go here. Guy didn't try to hide it or anything. Was sweeping floors and used same gloved hand to grab a piece of pork and chop it up for us. Disgusting. One of their violations posted here by the health dept was lack of handwashing stations. Yeah, a gloved hand doesn't equate to a clean hand.

combos w rice, bbq pork, & duck!!

Amazing!! On a whim I looked up duck bc I haven't had any in a while. I just moved & don't know where the best spots are yet. I found New Doung Son BBQ on yelp & decided to give it a try & i'm so happy I did!! They run out pretty early & it's cash only!! The roasted duck is sooo good & so is the bbq pork. We gave the roast pork a try as well & it was delicious. My bf loved the peanut sauce (I think it's peanut) that came with our combos. We're becoming regulars for sure!!

Honestly exceeded my expectations, I will be driving 30 mins to visit them often. I came at 10am on a weekday and I was the only customer, the 2 guys worked here were very nice and I had the best and freshest crispy pork! I even enjoyed the complementary soup that came with my food. Definitely a legit place, and thank you for open early at 9am everyday! It will be perfect for family get together :)

Lots of items to get for lunch

Came here for roast pork, duck and char siu, since again Maui no more. It's cash only, and love that they cut the box to allow steak out and not make everything soggy. We purchased by the pound, and noticed the guy behind us got the food with rice, love they provide a quick lunch and will try that next time. Flavor of everything was great as well. will be back.

Trying out this place for the first time. They have roast duck, soy sauce chicken, bbq pork, roast pork, fried noodle and other food item. The roast duck and roast pork were both very good. Good customer service. Hard to find parking.

This place is the #1 spot for this type of food. And prices are so cheap. These guys know their asian bbq cuisine. I've tried the rest, and it's no comparison! They take cash only. Very small shop located on 1st floor to the very left of the middle stairs if you're facing east. Their best seller is the bbq pork ribs that ALWAYS sell out after lunch. It is a rare occasion if they still sell it at 3-4 pm. But don't fret, their other items are just as good, like their roast duck, pork, & their honey flavor bbq xa xiu pork mmmhmm! Flavors are spot on, meats are tender juicy & not dry. Their side dishes are delicious too, I especially love their beef soup and stir fry chow fun. Weekends are very busy, come early!

Yummm! I love Cantonese bbq. I made a stop here on my foodie trip for some roast duck! I bought half a duck for $13.50. Very flavorful and not fatty. My friend got the roast pork- very good also! They have a lot of other cuts of meats as well and you can also order combo plates! Cash only establishment and the staff here is so kind!!

Excellent BBQ, I had duck and roasted pork. Both were authentic and tasty. The pork is perfect if you use the sauce that come with it.

Whenever I'm in Garden Grove, Korean and Vietnamese cuisine will always take precedence. However,…read moremy most recent trip pivoted from the norm, and Noodle Star became the destination. The end result? Reasonable prices, warm service, and very tasty food. Like so many Chinese restaurants, the name and theme is inherently confusing. Up until last year, the place was Harbor Garden and it's rebranded to Noodle Star ever since. The Chinese name ("川粵" aka "Chuan Yue") would imply there is a Sichuan + Cantonese component to the offerings, despite the words "teppanyaki" and handmade noodles (手工麵) noted on the exterior as well as on signs on the interior. Typically any restaurant that dabbles in multiple regional Chinese variations (Sichuan, Cantonese, Shanghainese, Lanzhou, etc.) is a huge flight risk. Surprisingly, it all worked out. All of my orders were from different regions of the country, starting with a Cantonese beef chow fun (乾炒牛河) that was delightfully smokey from the wok hei (#1) and the noodles and beef were silky and smooth. While the noodles aren't as wide as I would have liked, they were still 100% workable in the dish. The Taiwanese style popcorn chicken (鹽酥雞) was wonderfully fried and the chicken was still juicy on the inside. Their napa cabbage + shrimp + pork steamed dumplings (白菜豬肉蝦水餃) were pillowy soft and steamed perfectly. They were plump and not too doughy; which is very appropo for a northern Chinese dish. The biggest surprise may have come from the soup dumplings (小籠包), which had just the right amount of soup and a very delicate dumpling skin that was downright excellent. The service was kind, attentive, and very bilingual with Mandarin and English. Prices might feel high to non-Cali folks, but the spectrum is very much on the Socal average. (#2). Bathrooms were mostly clean and the seating options were plentiful; solid for large and small group action. Parking can be tough on the weekends since it's a strip mall. I already know that I'll be back. If I was able to order 4 regions and they all came out excellent (#3), I can only imagine how excellent the rest of the house special group of dishes will be. __________ (#1) "Essence of the wok" -- it's a thing. This helped us get a table much faster than we would have than if we had just shown up and waited. We ordered the large family meal, and there were 12 of us. We also ordered the Newport Lobster, fish fillet with black bean sauce, and an extra shrimp fried rice. Overall, I think the food was good, and the prices are reasonable (except the lobster, which was pricey, as you might expect from anything listed as "market price"). Most of us in the group thought the fish fillet with black bean sauce was the best. I thought it was very good, but not necessarily fantastic. (There are other Chinese restaurants that do it a little better.) The sauce was very good, but the fish wasn't quite as tender as it can be. Definitely a solid 4 stars. Other dishes were good. I think the scallop soup could have been great for some people, but my wife and I both hate cilantro, and there was a ton of cilantro. The pork was also good, and my friends thought the clams were also really good. I found the fried rice a bit bland. And for both the lobster and the crab, they could have made them a little easier to eat by cracking the shells a bit more for us. I hate fighting with my food ... And there was a fair amount of fighting on these 2 dishes. The lobster cost almost much as all the other dishes combined. It certainly looked amazing. And the sauce was very good. But I found most of it a bit overcooked. Maybe it was our fault for asking for a big one. Maybe a smaller lobster might have been cooked a little less. The great sauce (along with the fighting with the shell) might have covered up the fact that the meat was actually a bit tough and rubbery. I don't think I'd order this again. The service was very friendly and pretty fast. And, again, other than the lobster, the pieces were pretty reasonable.

Our family joked around and would say let's go to the travel agency restaurant when we had a craving for Chinese/Vietnamese type of food. I recall the food back then was extra tasty and memorable, leaving me wanting to return again and again. However, my recent lunch outing with my girlfriends changed my mind. Our servers were attentive and friendly. I think it helped that my friend was a familiar customer. We came on a Monday afternoon around 11:30 and It was early enough where parking was still available. We ordered the classic dishes, including salt and pepper fried pork chopsand salt and pepper fried shrimp, but the taste this time around left a lot to be desired. These two dishes lacked the crunchiness and flavors that these fried entrees are supposed to showcase. We found the pork chops to be dry and tough, as if it was prepared a while ago and sitting out for some time before it made its way to our table. The shrimp was not impressive either. At least the shaking beef or bo luc lac was good. The beef chunks were tender, and the flavors were on point. Bonus points for the broth that is complimentary during lunch. Also the complimentary orange slices were a nice touch to end our meal. We'd still return for the lobster and noodle when the occasion comes up.
