My most favvvv brunch spot. Came here with bf's parents and they loved it as well. My fav is The Dao and the Banh Mi Chao. I personally liked the filet mignon more, but bf likes the beef belly more. They're both yum though! We always get extra bread with The Dao bc the slices they give are never enough! And we use the extra bread for the Banh Mi Chaos too. I'm usually not the biggest fan of asian fusion places, but Nep Cafe does it really well. For their other food, I've also had the Seafood Tom Kha Pasta which is incredible in flavor to Tom Kha. So if you don't like Tom Kha, then don't get this! We've had the crab toast which wasn't my favorite. I think their banh mi bread is tons better, so maybe have banh mi bread with the crab. The drinks are also delicious! I had the thai princess and it reminded me of the lychee martini at din tai fung, but better!! I loved the addition of lemongrass, it wasn't as alcohol forward like din tai fung's lychee martini. I also tried the beer that had a citrus flavor to it which is nice and a refreshing pairing to the creamy saucy food. Their coffees are also delicious, you can tell from looking around when you walk in bc everyone orders the drinks! On August 1st, at around 2 PM, my family and I stopped by Nếp for lunch. I ordered the fish noodle soup, and unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed with the noodles. The noodles in my bowl were incredibly soft and broken into very short pieces, almost like noodles prepared for a child. I'm quite certain they had been overcooked, as the noodles were so mushy and fragile that I couldn't even pick them up properly with chopsticks. I had to use a spoon just to scoop them up and eat. I've actually been to this restaurant many times because I really enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and the food is usually delicious. That's why this experience was especially disappointing. We loved the Nep Cafe in Irvine and had gone twice in one weekend, so we were excited to have the opportunity to dine at Nep again. When we approached the restaurant, the hostess was standing at the doorway, with the door open. The way she positioned herself made it seem like she was blocking the entrance, so I waited a moment thinking she was taking names down for the waiting list. However, she made it very clear to the party behind me that she was about to seat a party. I then realized the hostess stand was through the door and made my way in once she left the entrance. We were lucky to have no wait on this weekend brunch time. But perhaps this person should step out of the way instead of blocking the entrance. Once we were seated and menus were brought, we did a quick look over on the menu and noticed our favorites from the other location were not listed on this one. We did inquire about them nonetheless but was told they don't offer it anymore. (Vietnamese Pate Mousse was one of them.) We realized we should have looked at the menu ahead of time, as we didn't realize we would be a bit disappointed with their current offerings. (They also had a few other dishes we wanted but they were only available during dinner service.) This is what we ordered: * Banh Mi Chao - Beef Belly $22 * Curry Crab Omelet $26 * Crab Toast $21- It was okay. * Garlic Noodles with Charred Shrimp $21 - We had ordered this before and really enjoyed it. But their garlic noodles were spicy which we were not expecting. This made it difficult for the Little Gal to eat it. * Egg Coffee with Salted Egg Yolk $7.50 * Wildberry Matcha Latte $7 The four dishes we ordered were all pretty heavy and we weren't really wowed this time. Everything was fine, but not exceptional. I'm not sure if it was because we were blown away the first two times or what. Service was fine too. NEP Cafe! WOW! This might be one of my favorite Kei Concepts locations so far. It's up there with VOX kitchen, IMO. The location is a stand alone so parking isn't too difficult. We came here with our friend on a Sunday evening to grab lunch. To note, they also have a rewards app for Kei Concepts. The staff here were awesome. The hostess, our waiter and everyone else was top tier. The interior is spacious and can accommodate various party sizes. The decor is nice and modern. Parking is easy and plenty of spots as there are no other open establishments in the plaza. They have indoor and outdoor seating. So far the best Kei Concept restaurant! Appetizers: SEAFOOD CEVICHE - light, refreshing, with a hint of heat from the Thai chili and tropical flavor from the coconut and mango. It can be enjoyed on its own, but I recommend consuming this with the fish chips. It's a great starter! CHICKEN WINGS - the best wings ever! I've had something similar from Pok Pok Wing in Las Vegas (sadly, all their locations are closed). My husband and I have not found a spot that prepares wings with caramelized fish sauce and garlic until now. We were brought back to our happy memories of the sticky, sweet, and umami flavors. Don't skip out on this! Main dishes: CURRY CRAB OMELET - I really enjoyed this one. I don't normally have crab with an omelet. This was a great combo! There was a perfect amount of crab. It was simple, but it had a lasting impression. I was able to taste every ingredient in this dish. I kept coming back for more. SEAFOOD TOM KHA PASTA - another hit! It was creamy, savory and aromatic. A dish I also kept coming back for more. FILET MIGNON BÁNH MÌ CHẢO - I only ate a small portion of this because I got full from the other dishes. The medium-rare filet mignon blanketed under the black peppercorn sauce was a tasty bite! We took the left over home and the next day I devoured the rest. Made a quick stop at NEP Cafe while we were in Fountain Valley and it did not disappoint. NEP is part of Kei Concepts with a modern take on Vietnamese food. The menu takes familiar Vietnamese flavors then gets a little creative with them. The space itself has that same trendy Kei Concepts feel too. Cute, lively, but still casual enough to stop in for brunch or coffee. The workers here were super attentive and friendly throughout our visit. Everything on the menu sounded delicious, but we narrowed it down to the Seafood Ceviche, Matcha Cloud Latte, Egg Coffee, plus the Beef Belly Banh Mi Chao. The Seafood Ceviche comes with scallops, shrimp, calamari, mango, coconut, Thai chili, plus shrimp chips. This was such a clean and bright bite with a little tropical flavor from the mango and coconut. There was a nice kick of spice too. They gave a good amount of seafood, so you weren't just eating toppings and sauce. Scoop everything onto one of those crispy shrimp chips... so good. The Matcha Cloud Latte was dangerously easy to drink. I genuinely think I could take down three of these. It's made with oat milk then topped with matcha cheese foam. It was creamy with such a vibrant green matcha flavor. Slightly sweeter than I normally prefer, but I'm sure you could ask for less sweetness. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but the Egg Coffee surprised me. It's Vietnamese milk coffee topped with egg foam and cocoa powder. That cream was DELICIOUS. Last was the Beef Belly Banh Mi Chao. It comes with beef belly, black peppercorn sauce, sunny eggs, pork roll, pate, tomatoes. We added Chinese sausage since we were sharing, but honestly we didn't even need it. They give you a MOUNTAIN of beef belly. I loved being able to build each bite however I wanted with the bread, beef, egg, pate, plus everything else on the plate. Such a fun dish to share. My girls & I came on a Wednesday evening in a group of 4. Parking was easy in a big parking lot. We asked for a booth & were sat quick as it wasn't busy at all yet around 6pm! They have different brunch versus dinner menus & discontinued some popular dishes like bone marrow one. I love the decor with low lighting & plants all around but unfortunately there were so many tiny fruit flies flying around our food (might be from green bush middle of restaurant). I went to Nep for their happy hour at 3pm Friday and was seated pretty quickly. It wasn't super packed at the time but there were definitely a good amount of parties there. I've been here a couple times before and the service has always been really good and fast each time. Fortunately, this time was not any different :) Everything we ordered was plated so beautifully and tasted amazing. Additionally, each dish was only $10-$12 because of happy hour! My personal favorites were the banh mi chao, chicken wings, and seafood ceviche. It's obvious they put a lot of effort in these dishes in terms of presentation and flavor. The restaurant itself is also so beautiful and is a good reflection on the amount of effort they put in creating a good experience for customers. This is my 2nd time going to this Nep Cafe branch. Me and my bf decided to have an early brunch on a Saturday at 930am. It wasn't that busy yet but after a few minutes, large group of people started showing up. We did have a reservation prior. The cafe is really nice, pretty big and spacious. All of the staff are really nice. We ordered 3 appetizers and 1 main dish to share. I love getting their cloud matcha latte, it has this sweet and salty earthy taste that I love. My bf got the marble coffee, he said it was pretty good as well. Then we had calamari, spicy wontons and THE DAO. Calamari was plentiful in serving, comes with a sauce and I really liked their sauce, it has citrusy taste. The spicy wontons are a crowd favorite as well for me. It definitely puts it on the top spot of spicy wontons I've tried from other spots. THE DAO (yes, it needed the caps lock on the name), this is my top appetizer from this cafe. The first time I tried it, I was craving it for a while. Some people might say it's a simple appetizer, but for me it's the taste and flavor that put it on the top spot. For the main dish we had Xo Chien, it's a crispy rice with pork floss, egg, chinese sausage. It's a delightful dish, and the flavor and texture is pretty nice as well. My bf loves this dish. Back Again... and Somehow This Fusion Spot Still Hits! Came here for breakfast with my girlfriend, and this is one of those spots I somehow end up visiting about once a year. Usually, when you revisit a restaurant after some time, you start noticing the quality slipping a little... but nope. This place has officially hit FOUR times in a row! Dry Bun Bo Hue -- $21 | 8.8/10 Although it says "dry," there's actually about 2 tablespoons of broth hiding at the bottom, and LET ME TELL YOU... that sauce is where the magic happens! It has this amazing sweet, spicy, slightly sour aroma that coats every noodle and pairs so well with the chopped beef. The noodles were cooked perfectly, too. I haven't had this since last June, so I was definitely a happy girl. Just squeeze a whole lemon over the top and BOOM--perfection! Squid & Mango Salad -- $16 | 8.5/10 So fresh and refreshing! The squid wasn't overly cooked or rubbery, and the mango had just the right amount of sweetness. Add in the peanuts, pickled veggies, herbs, and that sesame cracker for some crunch... and YES PLEASE! Such a fun combination of flavors and textures. Bun Ca -- $17 | 7/10 My girlfriend ordered this one, and I had to sneak a bite, of course. It's a fish noodle dish that was good, but I felt like it was missing that extra flavor element to really make it pop. Since this is a newer dish, I can definitely see them tweaking it and making it even better! I got sticky rice and creme brûlée iced coffee along with the shrimp salad appetizer to try. Food came out relatively fast. The food presentation looked appealing. I have to say the shrimp salad was delicious, crunchy, cold, with robust flavor. I could eat that on my own! My friends really liked it too. I didn't try her fried rice, but she said it was tasty. The restaurant is modern and beautiful. I got the mango sticky rice matcha drink and the filet mignon banh mi chao. The drink was tasty. I think it tastes best if you mix the mango with the matcha. We had a reservation for a group of 4 early Sunday morning at 9am - there were maybe 2 other parties at the time, so there's likely no need to make a reservation if you'll be here at opening, though it got quite busy by the time we left around 10:30. The inside is nice and bright, with clean dark wood and faux greenery throughout, and high ceiling that make the space open despite the large number of tables available. We shared the Tom Kha Pasta, Bun Ca, Bun Boe Hue Dry Noodles and the Mango Squid Salad to start, and it came out to be about $30 a person. I had to get the Viet Egg Coffee - I typically get this hot but it was such a hot weekend I had to get it iced. I find that Nep Cafe is the only place where Egg Coffee is still good despite being iced and overall they have my favorite egg coffee anywhere, with the perfect match of a creamy eggy thick top and strong coffee underneath. Definitely get this if you're a fan of egg coffee. The mango squid salad was the perfect appetizer, slightly tangy, sweet and spicy, refreshing and the squid was a good texture - not chewy at all. Of the noodles, the Tom Kha was my favorite, super fragrant, creamy but not heavy, and flavorful - followed by the Bun Ca which was clean, comforting and filling, and the Dry Bun Boe Hue, which unfortunately wasn't too memorable. Always a pleasant experience dining at Nep Cafe. Overtime I do see that the restaurant had elevated every dish to a new level , more attention to detailed for each element on the plate. At first I was not used to the fusion flavor of their sister restaurant, Nep , however, had found the perfect balance between traditional vietnamese dishes ( like crispy pork with pickled carrot / daikon ) with adding some modern twist to it. Lots to like about the Nep Cafe. Yet another recommendation from a good friend who has yet to steer us wrong. It would have earned 4.5 stars because I did not care for the deconstructed Bahn Mi (my son however raved about it) but everything else was excellent so it was an easy round up. Clean modern interior with on point and friendly staff. We were off rush hour so there was parking but it looks to be tight if things are busy The Food Garlic Noddle with Shrimp: So good. Fresh tasty shrimp with a nice slight char on them paired with rich garlicky noodles. Each could have stood on their own but together they were magic broccolini: nicely cooked and the roasted? garlic added a nutty element to them. Just the right amount of chili added a nice heat to it as well Spicy Wontons: I did not taste but looked fantastic and the table loved them. Why did I not get to taste them? I was distracted by the garlic noodles and my family attacked it like a pack of hungry wolves. By the time I circled back to them I was staring at an empty dish lol Beef belly: This ribbon like strips of beef belly severed almost bento style on rice. Surrounded by a tasty and fresh arrangement of toppings that paired perfectly with the beef. We decided to try out this place after we were done fishing. It was lunch time and the place was packed. The restaurant is modern fancy with a comfortable homey feeling. There was also a bar area. Parking was ample and our server was quick and courteous. We tried the tiramisu latte, that's a must!! Everything that we tried was delicious, no leftover to take home. Had a party of 12 here the other day. Easy to make a reservation via phone call. We had the entire section to ourselves. Food comes out super quick. Everything here tastes unique and amazing. Colors and presentstion are amazing. Customer service is great. Drinks are strong and really good as well. We've been here so many times already and everything is really good. The only thing I wouldnt irder again is their new item, steak frites. The steak was stringy and bot that great. But everything else was amazing!! Some of my favorites were: Seafood tom kha pasta Calamari Crispy pork belly wrap Chicken wings Their drinks are esthetically pleasing and strong. Quality of food is just next level. Nep is honestly one of my favorite restaurants. I have to go here at least once a year! Haha. We went yesterday to celebrate my birthday. They had a cute card on the table that said happy birthday with my name on it. The staff are always attentive and so kind. We had Rachel yesterday and she was very nice and helpful. The food is always on point. I feel like you can't go wrong with anything you get on the menu. We got the beef carpaccio and Vietnamese shrimp salad for appetizers. For the entree, we got the pork tomahawk (my favorite), garlic noodle, fried rice with beef tongue, the boneless ribeye, and crab curry omelette. For dessert we got the banana bread pudding and mango sticky rice. The banana bread pudding is so good and flavorful. I love going to Nep and I look forward to going there every time. read more

Curry Crab Meat - Hands down one of the best dishes I've had recently. The omelet is pure perfection. Fluffy, pillowy eggs topped with sweet crab meat and creamy aromatic curry sauce. It's savory, slightly sweet and packed with flavor. Seafood Thom Kha pasta - incredible Thai fusion. If you love Thom Kha soup, you need to try this pasta dish. The seafood is fresh and pasta was perfectly cooked. A unique flavor bomb that completely blew me away. The Dao - I was intrigued by the potato espuma. It's is delightful. Potato is smooth, airy and cloud like. Perfect pair with rich, slow -poached egg. Break the yolk into that velvety potato mixture creates the ultimate dip, if you're a fan of poached egg this is a must try. Great late afternoon meal option, as it wasn't busy. The lemongrass tofu was flavorful, but a bit too sweet. The garlic noodles were saucy with a thicker noodle. Good flavor though. I've been a longtime fan of NEP Cafe, going back to when they combined with GEM for the night shift. Over the years, they've consistently exceeded my expectations, which is why today's experience was especially disappointing. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, so I'm not sure if it was simply an off day, but one of our dishes came out completely burnt to the point where it was not edible. We brought it to our waitress's attention, and unfortunately, the only resolution offered was 50% off that specific dish. For a meal that we couldn't even eat, I was honestly surprised it wasn't simply removed from the bill. It wasn't really about the cost, it was how the situation was handled, especially after being a loyal customer for so long. Unfortunately, this experience left a sour taste after so many great visits. I think it may finally be time to hang up my NEP jersey and start looking for another spot that makes a great bánh mì chảo. read more
