The place is spacious with huge TVs on each corner of the room playing cooking videos, sports, etc... I used a tablet to order food and the options were clear, so ordering was smooth. The waiters are quick and responsive. Price is not extremely wild but it's reasonable for how much food I got. I was pretty hungry so I ate the whole thing, but could've split into two meals. Charbroiled pork was fatty and yummy. Paired well with the rice and really everything else. The egg roll was thick but I would rather get this as its own appetizer than part of the meal. Steamed egg meat loaf (cha trung hap) was also warm and tasty. Everything together is excellent. Parking is easy. Not congested like most westminister plazas. Food was 3 stars but I am bumping to 4 because of the service. We drove out of our way to dinner here and the server saw that we looked lost. He kindly explained how to order and checked on us frequently. We got the broken rice with the pork chop, steamed egg cake and fried chicken. The fried chicken was yummy and fried well. The pork chop was a step down from brodard's since brodard's has a smokey flavor that keeps me coming back. My wife got the bun bo hue which was okay. It was missing the pork feet that usually accompanies the dish. She appreciated that the broth was not spicy and that chili was offered on the side. We started with the thai basil clams and lemongrass clams. They were good, but we wished the flavors were stronger. For mains, we tried their com tam and their chicken curry. I usually never finish my com tam but this time I did! For my three toppings, I chose the tau hu ky, grilled pork, and steamed egg cake. Funny how the place is called HOT but despite being 1.6 miles away it was delivered to me cold. SMH Portion size is small (I'm talking half what it should be) compared to other Vietnamese places, but the nearby place I order bánh thịt nướng chả from in Westminster (LanAnh) closes early on Sundays so I ordered DoorDash from here to be delivered 5:50pm. I played my order 3:30 and it arrived 5 minutes before my scheduled time. Wanted to try something new off Yelp with good reviews so I went with this. Next time I'll skip DoorDash and go get orders at the restaurant myself. That way, I don't get lukewarm food at best. Both orders came same temp. Must've been made at least 30 minutes before driver picked it up. My son liked the fish sauce because it was straight up sweet from the sugar in the fish sauce. I do want to provide this honest update. This has nothing to do with the food quality but more of the restaurants "policy" and how it's routinely conveyed to us which kinda makes us not want to eat here but we do anyways because of the food and hence -1 star. The restaurant closes at 11pm. Most places that want to cleanup or shut down the kitchen typically have last call at closing or 30 mins prior to. This place is 1 HOUR before closing. Crazy! My family came here as usual just about 10pm and they were hesitant to let us eat here. Place had only 2 people at one table. I was reminded that it's 1 HOUR before closing is last seating. Next time I come here 5 mins before this time and still the same speech which makes us feel not wanted as a customer when you keep hearing this. 10 mins after is another couple came in, same speech and they were able to sit down. 30 mins later 2 guys come in and same speech and was still able to sit down and eat. Whether this is the true restaurant's policy or not, it gets very old hearing this and really detracts from the dining experience. If this is actually the way it is, they need to put a sign at the front door so people are aware but I still find this to be absurd. read more

HOT Com Tam was delicious! We came in today and tried a bunch of dishes: the hủ tiếu, bún chả, lemongrass clams, and egg rolls. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. The passion fruit juice was refreshing, and the aloe vera with chia seeds was perfect with the meal. Ordering on the tablet was super easy and convenient, and the customer service was the best. One of my favorite little details was the table condiment with ginger it was so good I kept picking the ginger pieces straight out of the container. Tried this little Vietnamese spot near my house and honestly... I'm glad we did. The food was super yummy. We visited during pretty slow hours on Labor Day and the service was just okay. Food (5/5) - Good concept letting customers customize their own com tam plate rather than listing 10,000 different combinations on the menu. Flavors were on point, portions were alright, probably the best com tam i've had in the area. Just a bit on the more expensive side. I ordered the grilled pork and viet sausage, and everything was good quality even the sides. Service (3.5/5) - As mentioned above, visited at a slow time and still had pretty sluggish service, which was countered with great food so it wasn't a huge deal. HOT Com Tam is probably one of the better cơm tấm places I've eaten at recently. The cơm tấm is a choose your own adventure here. You can choose up to 4 things ($15.49) from a laundry list of items. For $15 bucks, you can create the plate of your dreams. For mine, I chose my favorites: chả (steam egg cake), tàu hủ ky (tofu skin shrimp cake), nem nướng (Vietnamese sausage), and thịt nướng (char broiled pork). I must attest that everything was quite tasty. The tàu hủ ky in particular was excellent. It was meaty and neatly wrapped into the tofu skin. Delish. The thịt nướng also had a really nice char taste. I felt like the nước mắm was a little watered down, but I think that's a matter of preference. Don't sleep on the apps - the fried wontons and fried shrimp rolls ($5.99!) were excellent starters to our lunch. 10 out of 10 dining experience even if the tablet situation is a little wonky. There are square tables for four seaters surrounding the perimeter of the restaurant and a couple of extra long tables to connect the middle. And like most Asian places, there are a TON of flat screen TVs that have Vietnamese commercials and shows on repeat. One of the favorite thing about this place? It's clean. Service - the workers were really nice and there was this little girl (that I assumed is maybe one one of the workers daughters) who ate dinner with them too. So cute. You order via a table side ordering screen and your order promptly shows up in front of you! Food - anything is good. Everything rice dish is newly packaged and placed in front of you for consumption. I thought the pork was really good and I actually got the bbq pork where not a lot of places serve. My son ordered com tam w/ bbq pork and egg rolls, and I decided to be risky and ordered the bun bo hue. Both dishes came out quickly and exceeded our expectations. I ate here before with my mother on 3 other occasions. This time I was on my own. The restaurant nice open and very spread out so you're not right next to another party. The AC was nice. There was a lot of TV on all direction showing Vietnamese cuisine but I rather have a game on. The table has generous helping of condiments, pickled jalepenos garlic, chili paste and chili oil. Tables and condiments container were clean. Utensils were metal spoons and chops sticks which was nice. You get 1 napkin. So restaurant gives you what you need and avoid waste. Waiter gives me an ordering iPad that you order and send it directly to the kitchen. I debated over Bun Rieu or bun Bo hue. I got Bun Bo Hue. It was very tasty. Good amount of meat but not enough noodle. Little bit more would be perfect. The veggie were just enough for the soup. I would prefer extra, I'm not sure if they would charge for extra.
