Walked in thinking it was the Korean fried chicken I had in Korea and I was so disappointed. Not only was I disappointed but also my entire family. It's important to note that my husband and I have traveled throughout the metro sampling various food items from each Bonchon location, and the Maple Grove location is by far the best. However, we have consistently received poor service leaving us to consider walking out and returning the food. Last night we took a family member visiting from out of town to this location to try for their first time Korean fried chicken. We specifically asked three-times to have the food "extra-wet" but it came out dry on most of the chicken and some pieces were actually cold and had not been fried cooked to order, but well in advance. I want to give this location a better rating, but feel that service and food quality is going downhill fast. Please judge for yourself and use this rating as a guide to making an informed choice on where to spend your hard-earned money. As for my family and I, we've agreed to try the Maple Grove location one more time and if we don't get the food the way we request or service is lacking, we're done with Bonchon in Minnesota. read more

I've gotten food here maybe 3 times now - twice delivery, once pickup. What I like: 1. The japchae tastes pretty great 2. The fries are really great and well seasoned. Definitely enjoyable 3. The inside is really nice and clean as well. This store is located in an upscale neighborhood. Probably great for groups of 2-4. What I don't like: Price on some of the items are a little expensive for what they are. Fries could be like a buck less and I'd feel good about it, japchae a couple bucks. The servers try really hard. It's not their fault that corporate planned poorly & didn't gauge for popularity. There's just no room for anything there. Not relaxing w choice of music or tv's fitting a room 10 times the size. Constantly packed when we've been there. The menus are half the size of a table for 2. Food is ok. Too salty in some dishes. I ordered the tacos from here. Would have been delicious if they didn't just fill it with basically all lettuce and only a few pieces of meat. They seem to not want to give you any meat. My husband and I went there to eat lunch. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated quickly. Staff was friendly and made our first time experience there great! We ordered wings, bulgogi fried rice, and bibimbap bulgogi. Food came fast and tasted very fresh! Several lady servers came by to fill our water cups. We were there for 30 mins and our water was filled up 3x. They made sure we weren't ever low in water. Came back and check on us to make sure everything was good. I had to pack the bibimbap home in a container, as I'm walking out, an employee saw me and immediately ask me if I wanted a bag to put my container in. I didn't need one since it was only one container. But it's the fact that they noticed and offered. Love this place and for sure will go back! read more

Good chicken, bad service. I went in for a to go order and the cashier gave me the rudest stare when I did not tip on a to go order. Then I ended up having to wait over 50 minutes for my order to be prepared. During those 50 minutes I saw multiple orders with ticket time stamps 20 minutes later than mine get made first before my food and I even saw a group of 4 dine in come in 20-25 minutes after I ordered and they got their food before mine. All I ordered was a small combo chicken and takoyaki and somehow multiple orders that were called in after mine came out first. So overall the food is good but the service is terrible if you don't tip on to go orders which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1. read more

Waited SO LONG for this place to open! So delicious! I've never had authentic Korean fried chicken, but this is exactly what I imagined it to taste like! If you're not familiar with Korean friend chicken, KFC is a lighter batter than American and double fried for extra crunchy goodness. 10/10 recommend the sweet crunch wings! I personally felt like this place was overrated. The fried chicken is amazing-no doubt about that. However, everything else was very bland and the portions weren't all that great for the price you pay. My boyfriend and I ordered 5 dishes and we left feeling unsatisfied with the flavors. We ordered fried chicken, chicken fried rice, tteokbokki, takoyaki, and pork buns. Takoyaki was probably the worst thing we ate. Very soggy and had a weird taste to it. The bonito flakes were all over the place and wasn't even a garnish, which really killed the taste of the takoyaki. Tteokbokki was spicy and didn't have much flavor to it. Chicken fried rice had barely any chicken in there and portions were small, very bland taste. Pork buns were better than the other dishes. It had more flavor to it than the other recipes, but I didn't care for a second bite. Again, the fried chicken was amazing. There's nothing I would change about that (besides the price of it). However, everything else we tried was not that great. I'd just like to mention though that all the food came out quickly and our server was nice. However, I won't be coming back for a while.
