    Rows of groceries

My cousin used to live in this area and we would come grocery shopping whenever we planned to cook dinner. Located at the end of a strip mall, they have a full service store. Meat section, fresh veggies, frozen, canned items, sauces, cookware and cold groceries. They even have a small restaurant in the back that cooks Korean dishes. It does fill up quick and we usually end up ordering to go. They have maybe less than 10 tables and chairs, not ideal for large parties.

Delicious and affordable Korean food! Service is relatively fast and takeout/self-service style. The small space isn't flashy or fancy--but in a good way that makes you know the food's going to be great. The japchae and bulgogi were my group's favorites. Note: Water (and other beverages) is only available by purchase.

Been there couple times. Their food is really good! They are pretty good with their service too! But if you placing an order online this is their newest prices menu.

My friend had a drum lesson nearby so we met here for a meal beforehand. He being from Wisconsin could not handle any heat so I ordered the bulgogi and grilled mackerel. He tried 1 bite of the kimchi and immediately needed water‍. He loved the bulgogi so much he ate the whole plate. The rice was perfect and service was friendlier than usual. We browsed the isles afterwards and he picked up a few items. I'm glad I got to expose a rural small town Wisconsinite to Korean food but next time I'm ordering spicy kimchi stew.

This is hands down my favorite Korean restaurant in the cities. It is fresh, authentic, flavorful and reasonably priced. The ambiance is laid back. It's tucked into the back of a grocery store, so there's not much to it. The service is friendly and efficient. I can't wait to come back here!

Korean mom and pop shop with food stall inside. I stopped by here killing time after work before going to see a friend. The other reviews were pretty consistent with the experience of the store and restaurant and sets expectations. The store: has all the standard Korean grocery products from kimchi, gochujang, rice, etc. There is a small produce section, which if you're craving a certain Korean variety of radish or peppers: are available and not too pricey at that. The inventory does need some controls. There were products that were passed due and needed to be thrown out. Make sure to check the dates and inspect the goodies. The restaurant food: It is very traditional, and good assortment from beef to seafood and the rice bowls. I ordered the dumplings-mandu and stir fried squid-ohjingnu bokgeum. The mandu was fried right, but the filling was uninteresting. There was maybe tofu? Maybe some noodles. Typing this made me realize the only part I remembered was the crispy texture being on point. The squid stir fry is one my favorite dishes to order and their take was very traditional and standard. It's a sweet and spicy gochujang based sauce that's mildly addictive with a nice spice level- not MN though :P good assortment of veggies and squid. Comes with the banchan/ sides of steamed bean sprouts, fish cake, and kimchi and rice. Parking is plentiful since it shares a building with harbor freight away from the other part of the strip mall. Grocery buggies are outside to grab, but the aisles are a tad bit tight. If wanting traditional kick, good option to check out in the Twin Cities.

This hole-in-the-wall place is a must try! Their restaurant is located at the back of the grocery store and their food is always a hit- very authentic Korean dishes and street food. Just about every item on the menu is amazing. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 is because I wish there was more banchan (side dishes) to go with the entree. Custom service is just okay. The cashier lady does not ever smile at you.

I alway have a good feeling when there's a mini Korean restaurant inside a korean grocery store. So far, they've all tasted super yummy with a decent price. I feel like everything is family own to keep the price reasonable. There's a few tables and it can get busy. You order at the counter first and the menu is on the wall with pictures and names so you know what you get :). They give you a post-it note with a number and that's how you get called. Make sure you keep the note because they collect it when you get your food. I think they reuse the post-it . Black bean noodles- I was actually craving this dish to go get Korean food. Was a little disappointment. Didn't come with cucumbers or eggs. I honestly don't know if there's meat in this like other places. The portion is big so definitely shareable. 2.5/5 Seafood Pancake- delish with a good portion. Sauce is great. What's not to like? Highly recommend 5/5 Kalbi- this was juicy and tender. A good portion for the price compared to most or any other places. It is not overly cooked as you can see not burnt. Definitely good. 4.5/5 Sides- they give you a good portion of size. Each main dish get a large portion of rice too! More rice than any other places for togo lol. Perks of eating here is you can buy the side dishes to bring home along with other Korean stuff. I picked up a few things. Their kimchi is quite tasty as well. On a note, it's weird that they rip the big togo box in half to use it as a plate for some dishes as pictured. We didn't finish the pancake and because it was cut, there was no top to close. Went to ask for a new box but they only give out small togo boxes and says big one is not available. I get the concept of saving but maybe give the whole box or just put it in a dish and wash more? Just thought it was odd. Overall, love the food and feel. Will definitely be back to try other stuff as well and pick up more side dishes.

Fun discovery in Hiltop, MN. We spent time in AM at Top Golf and were hungry. Luckily this place was 10 minutes away. It is tucked in a quiet strip mall in a residential area. The grocery store is not too busy but as you go to the back of the store behold another world of people ordering and eating food. Menu covers the traditional dishes (e.g., black bean noodles, kimchi tofu soup, japchae, etc.). Prices were much cheaper but about $1-2 more from the photos on Yelp due to rising inflation. This was a fun experience. The food was plenty and made for a solid lunch.

I love a good mom and pop store and Dong Yang definitely lives up to the small Asian groceries around here in the twin cities. It has a great selection on all things Korean and more, and everything is priced pretty well! One thing I love about big Asian groceries is that you can eat and shop all in one stop, and Dong Yang is a mini version compared to markets like Hmart. We ordered the japchae and bibimbap and were able to shop for our groceries and also the best fresh kimchi around Minneapolis :) Our food came out decently quick and I was excited for some authentic flavors. The japchae came with a side of rice and bonchon, including fish cakes, bean sprouts, and spicy pickled veggie. It was way more food than we needed, but I personally liked the bibimbap more since the japchae was a little bit on the too oily and salty ide for me. I'm definitely going to have to return to try their other dishes on the menu!

This is a Korean grocery store next to Harbor Freight, with its own designated entrance. I almost walked into the harbor freight entry, mainly because I wasn't paying attention. You'll find most of your common Asian condiments, snacks, meat & etc but mainly Korean ingredients. I love that there is a dedicated aisle for all kinds of seaweed! You will also find premade side dishes, kimchi and pickled radishes. Located in the Dong Yang market is a lovely deli! Plenty of seating for such a small space. Ordering was easy since they had an overhead menu but deciding on what to eat is the hard part! There's a good variety of dishes including stews, bibimbaps, japchaes, short ribs, and gimbap! I got the Kimchi stew and Korean short ribs. I love that the kimchi stew came out boiling hot in a stone pot and with lots of sides! The sides are my favorite and the white rice is actually pretty fluffy, approved! The short ribs was sweet and chewy. I couldn't really bite it off and had to tug it a bit off the bones or into smaller pieces. Somehow I expected it to fall off the bones but maybe I'm wrong about this dish. Kimchi dish was ok, as expected with lots of kimchi and a few tofu but pairs well with the white rice! The food was good and the dish size was a good size and big in my opinion. Food came out quicker than I expected. Maybe because there wasn't a lot of people on the day I went, Sunday evening. Overall huge parking lot, friendly service and good portion sized Korean dishes! Will come back to try the other dishes! And yes both gender bathrooms in the back!

I forgot how much I love love love this place. They have a second restaurant in Arden Hills apparently, but the location on Central Ave is still my preference due to the proximity to my home and there are ample parking at the lot. The deli is always so good and you can't go wrong with ordering anything and everything on their menu. Everything I have tried tasted very authentic and delicious. The price is also reasonable. While you wait for your food, you can walk around their amazing grocery section with plenty of choices to make your own home cooked Korean meal. I picked up all the ingredients I needed for a tteokbokki dish. I also picked up a jar of their kimchi and replenished my soba noodles and ramen noodles in the pantry. Never leave the place with their freshly made kimbap as well. They run out quick so when you see them make sure to buy them for a snack!

The atmosphere is stylish without feeling pretentious, the music fits the space, and the service was outstanding. The server knew the menu inside and out and made choosing easy. The Shrimp & Fennel dumplings were light and fresh with a subtle fennel flavor, while the Chicken & Green Chili dumplings brought a little Serrano heat without overpowering the chicken. Decided to try Minari for my birthday this year. All in all, we were very impressed. The service is…read moretop-notch, as is the ambiance (both some of the best in the Twin Cities). The food is mostly good, although there is something missing still that could make this restaurant truly one of the best in the state. Still, it's a great night out, especially if you like Korean and/or Chinese food. Here's a rundown: The food: First and foremost, Minari has special menus to meet many dietary restrictions. Not just symbols on one menu, but different menus depending on your restrictions. That's amazing. We ordered off of the Dairy Free (DF) menu, which does include a lot of their dishes from the regular menu. The Szechuan Ribs were my favorite, they are exquisite. The KFC wings are good too, although they could have used a bit more sauce (I am used to Korean-style wings being pretty saucy). The pork jowl was good but did not have quite enough gojuchang flavor. The accompaniments that came with it were awesome, especially the sauces. The bonchon need some work; I would love to see more traditional bonchon, ours had a couple "fusion" type dishes that were a little too contemporary for us. The drinks: The Minari Old Fashioned was AWESOME, a great drink (and the rice cracker was great too). Highly recommend this. The service was some of the best in the metro. From entering (where the host stand will make sure you have appropriate menu(s)), to the server, who was perfectly attentive and very knowledgeable about every dish, including dietary issues, to the complimentary tea and birthday sparkling wine, I can't say enough about the service here. The only weird thing is the dim sum, I would actually just put the dim sum dishes on the menu and bring them out on demand. The ambiance was really nice, and the bathrooms were clean. The final thing I would say is that I think that Minari could benefit from making their Korean dishes a little bit more traditional...as I mentioned earlier, small touches like making the wings a bit "saucier," more gojuchang flavor on the dishes that feature it, and more traditional bonchon would all be great. Still, this is a phenomenal place to dine/drink in NE Minneapolis, and if you like Korean and Chinese food, you will not be disappointed!

I have had Korean BBQ here before as well and honestly I thought it was pretty decent. I ordered the bibimbap and it was very sloppily made with not enough ingredients. The japchae was pretty good as the vermicelli noodles were very flavorful. I would've preferred to see some more bell pepper pieces in it, though. My partner got the salmon roe nigiri, the agedashi tofu, and the soft tofu stew. They thought those dishes were pretty good. The agedashi tofu specifically, however, was a bit too soft in terms of its outer skin. We ordered beef bulgogi, spicy pork, pork belly, and brisket. I probably could have done without the brisket or pork belly. Brisket dried out super fast and the pork belly was a little too fatty. Also ordered gyoza, fried rice, black bean noodles, seaweed salad, and a shrimp tempura roll. All were delicious, but we ended up with far too much food for just two people. I…read morereally enjoyed and would recommend the red curry duck stew-- I loved the eggplants and bamboo throughout and the duck meat was very tender. The curry was flavorful but not too salty which I do feel like lots of Asian American/fusion dishes can become around here in Minnesota. The Hmong sausage was well seasoned and grilled and paired well with the sticky rice. The sausage reminds me of Taiwanese sausage but is heftier and more substantial. It was cool to be at the bar and see into the kitchen. Service was very quick overall and the bartenders gave some great suggestions for drinks. Tom kha lemonade - refreshing, somewhere between a tom kha soup and key lime pie almost. Was debating between this and the 3Leches botanical drinks (maybe one of these another time!) Overall would come back again but perhaps only on days when we are okay with splurging it a bit more. ;) The outside was nice but today was a bit too humid so it was nice we were able to get a seat inside. Definitely would be back when in the Cities for their cafe next door when they hopefully have more of their specialty pastries in stock (we eyed the coconut pandan croissant but they were out! Got some of the scallion danishes though excited to try those!)

Driving by decided to stop in to bb.q Chicken and give it a try. Very happy with our decision!…read more This is a Korean style chicken wing. They offer whole chicken, boneless and regular wings in 14 different seasoning, (Not all of the seasonings are available for the whole chicken) along with a big variety of sides. As we looked over the menu a staff member greeted us and let us look at the menu for a bit and then offered to answer any questions. We asked about a couple of the flavor options, they offered us a small sample of the seasoning to help us decide. We chose the small honey garlic wings and a small Gangnam style wings. A small is 8 wings, a medium is 16 wings and a large is 24 wings. The wings themselves are good sized. We also ordered the cheesling fries which was also a very generous portion. The wings were very crisp and hot when they came out. The kept there crunch through our whole meal! I was impressed that the breading didn't start to get soggy. The Gangnam Style was sweet and salty with a little spiciness. It was spicy for me, but very tasty. I would be able to enjoy a couple pieces but the heat would eventually get to be too much for me. The honey garlic had no spicy rating. They were a nice complement to the spicy option we chose. This is a small restaurant with about 15 tables. It's counter service and you get a number for your table. The only thing slightly negative is the floor is a little sticky. The food is worth the trip to this place!

Each portion was filling, and the food was hot and fresh! My least favorite thing was the seafood stone pot. I wasn't a fan of the sauce, the spiciness, and it having frozen veggies. I preferred the regular bi bim bap. I would recommend coming here!

One can always easily find something on their menu that they can also find in Korea at a random location, and this establishment also gets the flavor right, along with the small plates that complement the meal. Whether it's the stone pot bibim-bap or just the bibim-bap, mixing rice with the given meat and vegetables, along with some gochujang, made it authentically delicious. The seafood pancake was more plain than the kimchi pancake, which was to be expected. It had the perfect amount of seafood to not make either the seafood or the pancakes overwhelming in terms of amount. The kimchi pancakes had the right kind of saltiness that was given by the kimchi. Once again, authentically delicious. The galbi tasted amazing, and I think I could taste a certain amount of butter based on the type of oiliness and saltiness that the meat had. I could remove the meat easily from the bones, and the meat was easy to chew as well. I think the black bean noodle was the only item that I was more critical about, because it was a bit watery and the sauce was plain. However, it wasn't bad at all and I still finished all of it. Just comparatively, it was less tasty, and I have had better in Korea or China. Around this area of Oak Street, if people want to look for good Korean food, there are a few very good options, and this establishment is definitely one of them. I would highly recommend it.
