Came here during the Yelp Elite event and this was my first time at this location. We talked to a waiter and he didnt know about this event so his manager had to help us out. Got the small combo, fired shrimps, rice, fries, and choice of tea drinks. I chose half and half for the wings, soy garlic and spicy. I didnt expect it was that spicy so couldnt finish them. Overall, the wings tasted really delicious, crispy outside but juicy inside. I dont really like our drinks because they were made straight from syrups. Service was really friendly, always be around if we need anything. This place is really big inside. Nice decor and good vibe for having chickens and beers. Takeout order for Japchae and fried chicken. Disappointed that this location did not offer Chicken Katsu. Japcae - The beef was tough, probably as the result of being overcooked. The dish was, imo, over sauced. Portion was small for the price. Fried Chicken - Ordered the small soy combo, but was pointed to a special that consisted of 6 wings, 3 drumsticks, and 6 boneless wings for $3 more. The gotcha moment was it did not include coleslaw or radish (like a normal combo would), would I like to add it? No. The wing and drumettes were dry. The drumsticks and boneless wings were moist. I've been to many other BonChon locations ... and this is the worst ever! I asked for the chicken strips and they said that food cost went up so they don't offer them anymore! So, why are they on the menu? I believe the franchise owners are just too cheap to actually hold the quality experience expected. I was forced to get the boneless wings and they were way over cooked, dry and they don't know how to make the soy garlic sauce. Terrible food and definitely won't go back to this location... I chose the radish. - What I got: Nothing. This place isn't cheap so not to get what you ordered is highly disappointing. Taste wise the "spicy" is a slow looong burn so don't try to be a hero. The fries were so crispy and it was just perfect! We also ordered japchae and I thought it was very flavorful. The combo chicken wasn't bad. When they say spicy, bonchon doesn't lie! They catered for my niece's birthday party and I, along with my other relatives, were impressed! They delivered individual boxed meals for each person. The chicken was great! Everyone complimented how good the fried rice was! Even the little ones (toddlers) ate the fried rice. I particularly liked the pickled daikon because it added such a refreshing taste to the chicken. Very good chicken AND excellent customer service. Last Sunday, the two gentlemen working were very helpful and were more than happy to fulfill my sauce obsession. The chicken is so good. My family wanted wack ass Buffalo Wild Wings, and I actually convinced them yo get Bonchin and they loved it! Loved the family style. One downside was that the food was cold. I guess waiting for all of the family style food made a lot of the food cold. The rice was amazing portions and delicious. The cold slaw was good, fries were delicious. I do wish it was all hot, had to reheat. What was weird is that they kept saying they were waiting for the fries to cook, but the fries were also cold when we got home (we live 7mim away). However, I'll keep the 5 starts cause it was very good and my family was very happy and no one was left hungry. My sis got the sliders, which were very good! What's funny is, my favorite thing to order here is the house special fried rice with chicken or beef. It's one of the best fried rice dishes in South San Jose and they make it incredibly well. I have been few times to Bonchon that located in Sunnyvale, however this is my first time tried out this location. The mall wasn't too crowded when around 11.30am during new year eve. And Bonchon opened at 11.30, but that time Bonchon not opened yet, so we go for walk and came back. We are family of six, so we ordered fried calamari, half half combo chicken, strips, bibimbap and japchae. The fried calamari taste different from other places. I like this appetizer, the batter was different. For half half, first I tried spicy chicken drumstick, it's so so so spicy for me, this is way too spicy compared to Sunnyvale. So I don't really like it. I only can have one of it. And then I tried the non spicy, it's okay and just a little oily. The japchae was good, it has some beef and vegetables. I was satisfied with it. The staff services were quick and fast responded. The table itself has attached the round thing that you can press on button for call, bill and drink function. Fell in love with Bonchon in NYC and happy to see it land in Almaden Valley. Coming from NYC, I'm super impatient as well so one big trick is to call and order ahead. Order at least 45 minutes ahead because the kitchen can be that backed up. But once all the chicken is in your hands, ENJOY. I particularly like the soy garlic with both drumsticks and wings. I always get the japchae as well. It's good to get noodles in the mix. Per adult, I'd say 6 pieces of chicken and you'll be pretty full already, especially if combined with beer. Solid spot overall. I just got into the Korean fried chicken game, and I'm addicted now. I think I eat something like 10 fried chicken drumsticks every other day. This place is one of my pipe lines. The chicken, particularly the chicken fried drumsticks, are incredible. This place is a little pricey, but they make up for it with flavor. Their customer service is pretty good too. I'm usually helped out by a very polite and helpful gentleman at the front. They seem to be overworking him a little bit, but he's still very helpful and very polite. This is impressive considering the type of world we live in right now (Covid pandemic/ Karen's). This place has definitely contributed To my weight gain during this past year. Came here with my coworkers to enjoy some Soju and grab a bite to eat. We were seated rather quickly, but our waitress ended up spilling a drink on our table. She tried to clean it all up without us having to help her, but she made it worse by pushing the water all around and causing it to leak from our table. My coworker just told her that we would be moving to another and she finally agreed. We weren't in the mood for an actual meal, so we ordered the chicken platter with bowls of rice. Our food came out a good time and the chicken was one of the best I've ever tasted. We got spicy chicken and it was delicious. I usually have a high tolerance for spicy foods, but this chicken had my mouth on fire! Along with our food, we ordered strawberry watermelon Soju. Our host was kind enough to give us an extra pitcher of Soju because he messed up on the flavor. He was also very attentive after we had to switch servers. He checked up on us a few times to make sure our drinks were filled. In terms of the decor, the tables were a little rundown. We had to place napkins under our table to keep it from rocking back and forth. But that did not stop us from enjoying our appetizer and Soju. Our nightly struggle is what to have for dinner. If it's not Asian or Mexican, it's usually some place at the Plant. I'm constantly racking my brain for some place new or different because I get tired of eating the same thing. The gf was super surprised when I suggested chicken wings because I've never suggested that before. There's something about eating batter and skin that doesn't sound like a sensible meal but today I wanna give it a try. She suggested Bonchon to which I agreed since it's new, different, and still relatively close to home. We had a slight problem finding it since the Yelp location was slightly off so we were circling the shopping center before finding it on the other side. The address leads you right to Planet Fitness but it's actually on the Walgreen's side. Upon entering, we were immediately seated and our perky server Natalie greeted us. We really wanted to try the wings so we ordered the medium but we also wanted to try the fried rice as well. I noticed the service bell on the table so what a great opportunity to try this out. When I pushed it, I didn't hear any bells so I thought these people has hearing like a dog. I looked at their neck and didn't see a shock collar so was really intrigued at how they were notified so when Natalie came up, she explained how her high tech watch buzzes and tells her which table is requesting service. The fried rice was just about the right portion for two people to share. It was cooked well and hit the spot! The chicken wings/drumsticks were also a really good portion for two to share and the spicy had a nice kick without being so spicy it would burn on both ends. Natalie is such a bubbly server and when she realized we were Yelpers it put an extra pep in her step as she pranced away to check on our food. She's truly adorable. I have co-workers who are Korean and they bring their version of it and doesn't compare! It was sweet and spicy, plenty if vegetables, meat, and noodles. There was so many levels of flavor. Also, we had the soy garlic wings, we couldn't get enough! We ordered a small, which comes with 5 or 6 wings and ordered another order one after eating 1 wing. It was crispy and juicy inside! You can get crispy-crunchy wings, boneless wings or drumsticks that almost seem battered instead of breaded. They come in two flavors, spicy and soy-garlic. The chicken is moist and flavorful. I think the spicy is good, but not very spicy and the soy-garlic is my favorite. The crunchy pickled radish on the side is nice. The fried rice is also very good. Unlike some of the Korean fried chicken pieces, the menu here is quite large. There are a number of interesting fusion dishes, side dishes, appetizers. There are convenient buttons at the table to alert waitstaff to the need for ordering, getting a refill or getting the bill. The interior is large and open and comfortable with a bar as the centerpiece. The service is quite good. read more

The meat was all white, breast meat--unless you get wings / drumsticks--and they were quite literally, finger-lickin' good. Jennifer, our server that evening, was amazing. She happily explained how everything worked and even provided us with suggestions based on our interests. She was quick, and checked back on the table often. Overall, it was a truly great experience. Good and quick service, clean restaurant, decent food. We ordered a large order of mixed wings and tteobokki. I love how crispy the wings are and how flavorful they are. However I felt like a few of the wings were a bit dry. I don't generally eat the spicy wings so I ate the soy garlic ones, but my cousin who did eat the spicy wings said that it was only mildly spicy. They have really good pickled radish in the side though that serves as a food palette cleanser, so even if your spice tolerance is lower, you can have the radish in between the bites to make it more tolerable. The tteobokki was really disappointing. It's one of my favorite Korean dishes ever, but the rice cakes seemed to be a bit over cooked and the consistency was off. I like my tteobokki on the chewier side but this one was just really soft. The sauce was also a bit sweet for my taste, but a good mild spice level that I did enjoy. I also wish there was more tteobokki in our order. Overall, the service was quick and pretty good however the food was a bit lacking. read more

Tried a large order of drumsticks/wings combo. Both sauces (soy garlic and spicy) were very good, although I found the spicy to be a little more interesting and unique. Although the chicken is a bit on the expensive side, it was of good quality and had a nice meaty texture, unlike chicken served in some places that is "pasty" and practically melts in your mouth. I was slightly disappointed that a few pieces were lukewarm and the entire order could have been more crispy. Two small bowls of radish that came with the large combo were good but nothing special. A pint of Blue Moon was reasonable at $5. Our server, Christine, was excellent and the restaurant was clean and energetic. read more
