I don't know why folks have reviewed this place so low. I've been coming here for 9 years straight. It's funny I've never reviewed them before but no more delay! They deserve a shout out! Food: is finger licking good and very very flavorful! They have a range of dishes to cater to both vegetarian and non vegetarian palates! Good spice range as per your tolerance! We love their drumsticks and wings, loaded fries and tacos and everything on the menu really! Over the decade, we've managed to have almost everything off of their menu and not once have been disappointed! That's got to mean something and that's why we keep coming back! :) Service: We were yet again served by gracious Connor. Service is great! No complaints at all. Always patience with kids at the table, ready to answer questions on menu especially on newly introduced items! Thank you! Sarah was great too - was happy to correct the spice on one of our dishes that kids had ordered. Thank you! Ambience: sports bar kinda vibes & chatty and good floor plan! Restroom:clean and kept well always! Parking: big lot so never been an issue! Very very open and available any time of the day! All in all, highly recommend! Will always come back and still have the same good things to say about them! Consistency is such a gem of a thing to find among restaurants and they are one of the few ones! :) So thank you!

Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend this place if you are looking for delicious juicy fried chicken. Perhaps it was because I got this food delivered but my chicken was very dry and overcooked. The Soy Garlic and the Spicy Chicken both tasted pretty similar. Next time, I hope it will be better. The fried rice was delicious! The Kimchi was flavorful! And a PSA to anyone ordering, the chicken drumsticks are much meatier than the wings here! Soy Garlic Chicken: 6/10 Spicy Chicken Wings: 5/10 Kimchi: 8/10 Fried Rice: 9/10

Newly discovered Korean fried chicken place .. it was amazinggggg!!!! I had chicken wings for two back to back days from here.. I tried three flavors and all were great. The second day I ended up ordering some drums too which were a hit with my kid.. we got the soy garlic, the Korean BBQ and Yangnyeom. There is a subtle difference between all three of them so I honestly didn't know which was which while eating them but can honestly say that ALL of them tasted incredible. The lady who prepped my order was incredibly sweet and really helped me get my order ready. She even helped me get the right sauce as well as clean it up when it got messy. I know I am gonna be ordering from here soon over and over again!

I ordered a 20 pc strips .... Wtf is this trash
    Melissa A.

Extremely upset. I ordered 20 pcs strip and other items and they gave me this trash. I don't live near by so yea thanks. I'd like a refund . Update - they assumed I ate this to get my money back and I unfortunately did not. But thank you for this disrespectful comment and no help. Keep your free 10 chicken fingers and I'll never spend another dollar here.

    Italian breadcrumbs on fried zucchini

A few more visits since my last update, so adding new information for you. I noticed they got new menus during the summer. On one visit, in addition to our regular orders, we tried their japchae. Another time, we ordered the fried zucchini. Granted, they were nice big pieces of zucchini, but they seemed like they were better suited for an Italian restaurant. The seasoning was typical Italian breadcrumbs. I guess as long as you know that's what you're getting, they are fine. Garlic soy wings, rice, & fries continue to be our go to favorites.

We are closed on Christmas Day. Merry Christmas!

Does this place have lunch specials?

Hello! Currently we only have our all day menu. We do plan on adding lunch specials in the near future!

What kind of oil (peanut, vegetable, canola, etc) do they use to fry the chicken?

Hi kris! For all of our fried items we use soybean oil!

How does seating arrangements work here? Because all we've ever wanted is a booth but no matter the amount of people we come in and the business of the place.. lol we never get booth.

The booths are definitely the best. Can't definitely say for sure, but most restaurants are divided into sections and each server is responsible for his/her section (which could include tables & booths). My guess is it's just luck of the draw how…

It is a tiny restaurant nestled in between CVS and another business, I forget what. But there is a tree blocking their signage and the additional small stand-up sign barely draws enough attention to the location. Restaurant is small, but the service is prompt and friendly. You order through a QR code on the table and all mobile devices ordering from the same table will have their orders consolidated. Beef Udon stir fry is tasty, but as many have said, on the sweeter side. Loooooove the texture and chew of the udon noodles. Very springy, almost like korean rice cakes or gnocchi. Sake chirashi bowl was delicious too. Would be nice if the wasabi was on the side. My daughter loves sashimi but can't handle when the wasabi touches the fish. Too spicy for her. Freshness of the fish is good. It's not the luxury cut of salmon, but the quality is still very worthwhile. Can't go wrong with Cali Roll, sweet potato fries, and spring rolls (fried egg rolls). Kids gobbled them right up. My bestie also ordered a sizzling plate which she finished just as quickly. Definitely RECOMMEND this spot for small get togethers, party of 5 or less. They may not have much in sushi variety, but what they dish up, they serve with pride with modest prices. Cheers to the sweet woman who gave our kids lollipops after their meal. Pretty basic but friendly. I first came here to have Chicken Katsu. It was flavorful and the meat was tender. The sauce hit the spot and and satisfying. I plan to go back and try their sushi and ramen. The location is close to my home, which is a bonus for me. They are typically not very busy, i believe because most customers get their food to go. I did notice a lot of to go orders. Overall I think this place has great Asian food and great service. I plan to trey other dishes to get a better sense of their overall food experience.

It's a relatively smaller restaurant and seems to be family run, with friendly staff and good service. Big wine enclosure, a separate bar area. We started out with the quail appetizer, which was a little disappointing. The quail seemed overcooked, which I'd imagine is easy to do with such a small bird, but both the cook and flavor were nothing to write home about. Just too dry. I'm not one who loves to deal with the difficulty of eating something small with minimal meat, but am more than willing to if it's prepared well and tastes great, but this didn't meet either mark. I think a closer to correct cook would have helped a lot. However, the other dishes were very good. The tea flavored duck was prepared VERY well, nice cook and delicately flavored. Liked this one a lot. Some taro there as well for carb/starch lovers - also good. I would definitely order this again. The Salmon Wellington was overall good - I think it could have been a bit more seasoned, but overall, we still enjoyed it. I'd likely not order this again, not because it wasn't good, but I'd want to try other dishes on the menu. The mango panna cotta was overall good. Not special, but solid. We'd come back here again. The former because it seemed like they might be a bit pricey for what they are; the latter because most of my friends that have tried them have spoken relatively highly about what they've had. As such, while they've been on my list of bookmarks for a quite a while, I never felt very compelled to try them either. And yet, somehow, we've managed to make our way to the one here in San Jose multiple times now! Sitting right in the heart of Santana Row, this particular Ozumo makes for a great spot to grab lunch during a day of shopping, happy hour after a long day at work, or a Friday or Saturday date night. Unlike your neighborhood Japanese restaurant and their array of bento box combos, the menu here is more like an izakaya's, with a much more varied array of options to offer - small bites, ramen/udon, entrees, nigiri, sashimi, and a mix of classic and house sushi rolls. In addition, they also have an interesting cocktail menu, featuring a lot of staple drinks that are infused with Asian flavors/ingredients. -- HAZAKURA - Umami Gin, Sake, Luxardo, Sakura Vermouth, Orgeat Cherry Blossom Elixir, Lemon, and Greek Yogurt Not only did this sound really unique (first time seeing a cocktail with Greek yogurt in it), but it was pretty tasty, too! I liked how the overall profile was light, semi-floral, and super easy to drink. Pretty solid! -- TOKYO VICE - Arette Blanco Tequila, Grapefruit, Ume, Fresno, Lime, and Togarashi This felt pretty true to a spicy paloma, as the Asian elements were subtle, and tasted pretty good. It was hard to separate the ume from the grapefruit, but I liked their combined tartness and the spice from the Fresno chilies and togarashi. -- HANABI - Sliced Hamachi & Avocado, Shredded Daikon, Leeks, and Warm Ginger-Chili Ponzu All in all, this was pretty solid. The hamachi was flavorful and I liked how every piece had ikura on it. The avocado was a little firm, but it still complemented the fish well, as did the ginger-chili ponzu sauce. -- KYUSHU KARAAGE - Japanese Style Fried Chicken with Red Yuzu Kosho Aioli While I certainly wish the portion had been larger, the taste of this was great. Each piece was surprisingly big, the batter was crispy, and the chicken itself was quite juicy. -- BROCCOLINI - Grilled Broccolini with Sweet Onion Sauce and Sesame Seeds Ehh...I wasn't a fan of this one. This was described as grilled, but it didn't taste that way. Rather, it felt like it was sauteed and overcooked at that. By no means terrible, but I wouldn't get this again. -- KINOKO - Roasted Enoki, Hon Shimeji, and Oyster Mushrooms with Garlic Tamari and Chives Aside from how the enoki mushrooms felt a little overcooked and stringy, this dish was pretty good! Loved how the mushrooms has a slightly earthy taste and how the garlic tamari added a nice umami. -- AGEDASHI TOFU - Crispy Silken Tofu with Kabocha Squash and Shiitake Dashi This was great! The tofu was silky and I liked how the batter didn't fall apart nor get gummy. The kabocha was good too, but the highlight for me was the shiitake dashi, which I wish every agedashi tofu dish had. -- SAKE YUAN YAKI - Grilled Salmon with Citrus Soy Glaze & Yuzu Togarashi Maybe it's just because I had a bad one just a few nights before, but I liked this one! The edges had a nice char, the salmon was super moist, and I liked how the glaze had a touch of sweetness and acidity. -- HAMACHI MANGO HAND ROLL with Soy Paper It was a little surprising to see this was left unwrapped, but this was no less delicious! The slices of mango weren't super juicy, but they were fresh, the rice was well cooked, and the hamachi was terrific! Across each of the visits we've made here, the service has been pretty good. Every server we've had has been welcoming and attentive (yet not overbearing). What's more, orders typically seem to come out relatively fast regardless of how busy the place is. As much as I enjoyed the vast majority of what we've tried, though, I do wish that the portion sizes had been larger, particularly the Hanabi, Karaage, and Agedashi Tofu. That being said, it was hardly shocking to see given how Ozumo is nicer than your average Japanese restaurant (and it's Santana Row of all places). In any case, it wouldn't stop me from coming back, despite how there are so many other restaurants nearby that I still want to check out. Or, at the very least, finally visit their original spot in SF to try their sushi offerings! All in all, THREE AND A HALF STARS rounded up.

Just never got around to working a review before. Went early on a Saturday evening recently and was surprised to not have to wait. We split a Bibb lettuce salad that was simple, refreshing and perfect. A tiny pea fritter was the very definition of a small bite, and while it wasn't what I expected, it was crisp and tender. Grilled artichoke was one of the best I have ever had. (Just wish they had been explicit on the menu that it was a half a grilled artichoke). Cocktails were up to their usual high standard -- rye Manhattan for the BF and clarified milk punch for me. I don't get out much these days and I rarely drink alcohol, but is $20 a lot for a cocktail? Or is that normal now? They were great though. BF got the ribeye with morels, which was perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender. I had the burger, which was more exciting than it sounds, dressed with a wild combo of veggies, cheese and bacon while still managing to be harmonious and fresh tasting. Side of fries were crisp and tasty, though not as perfectly hot as I would ideally wish. Because the burger was late coming out, or server (Bernardo I think?) comped us an amazing little dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt, along with the butterscotch pudding that we ordered. The pudding didn't have the strong butterscotch flavor that I hoped for, but the vanilla ice cream stole the dessert show. OCK isn't a place I can afford often, but I still really like it. I appreciate the creativity of the dishes, the quality ingredients, and the bar. And the old-school shopping center vibe of the Pruneyard is low key festive and garden-like. The interior of the restaurant is kind of standard-industrial modern, but nicely so. Oh, and their glassware is super nice.

All dishes were sub standard save for the squash flower fritters. Milk punch and other cocktails are still worth the visit. Additionally the patio space at night is unmatched in terms of a cozy and perfectly intimate dinner experience. Our server Katherine N was outright hostile and messed up our order on top of having a really rude and unprofessional attitude. Bummer. This used to be the best dining in Pruneyard but its sister restaurant Be.steak.a, as well as Luna and Marafuku Ramen make OCK's bib gourmand look more than undeserved. The rest of the wait staff is lovely, and we look forward to some improvements in the menu intentionality and execution as well as said outlier staff member, as this restaurant has been a favorite in our family for over five years.

The menu online and what we got slightly differed. At first glance the options feel limited to a typical Thai restaurant, but we loved everything that we ordered! My parents are hard to please, and also loved the food!! -Dragon Balls (5/5): deep friend minced chicken with added flavoring. It was really good! Could have used a side of sauce, but it disappeared quickly :) -spicy eggplant (5/5): I love eggplant dishes and this one did not disappoint. The spice was the right amount and didn't feel over the top. Since it's a side, it's a smaller portion -pad see ew (4/5): they warned us that they ran out of the wide noodles so we got thinner noodles, but the noodles had a toughness to each bite. The sauce and chicken were great -pad grr pow (5/5): I have never tried this before and we asked to make it spicy with tofu. I really loved it! It doesn't come with a side of rice -crab fried rice (4.6/5): I'm not a huge fan of crab but my husband raved about this rice and the butteriness of the crab. It was seasoned pretty mildly, so if that's something you like, it's one of their popular dishes! Overall really loved the food, the outdoor seating! Service is a bit slow on getting us plates before the apps, etc. But I would absolutely come again!

Disappointing Experience - Won't Be Returning…read more We really used to enjoy coming here--in fact, we were here exactly two weeks ago and had excellent service from a different waitress (who we didn't see tonight). Unfortunately, because of how we were treated tonight, we won't be returning. We arrived right when they opened at 4:00 PM today and specifically chose to sit outside at a table for six to stay in the shade. There were three of us--two adults and a child. The restaurant was not busy at all; in fact, it was completely empty except for us and one other person. Shortly after we sat down, a woman who appeared to be the waitress (or possibly the owner) began opening the top shades, exposing the tables to the direct sun--the exact thing we were trying to avoid. She then asked us to move to a smaller table. I asked if she could please pull the shades back over so our family wouldn't be stuck in the sun, but she refused. Her excuse was that she needed the shades open for when they turn on the patio heaters later. It was 81 degrees out, so forcing us to bake in the direct sun for heaters that weren't even needed made absolutely no sense. What made this double standard even worse was that the only other customer there--a woman sitting alone at another 6-seater table just waiting to place a to-go order--was completely left alone. There were plenty of seats outside the actual dining area she could have used, yet she wasn't asked to move or bothered at all. There was a very easy solution for us: the waitress could have just separated the two-seater table from the four-seater, allowing us to stay put out of the sun. Instead, she chose to target our family with a rigid ultimatum to either move to a different table in the direct sun or sit inside. The weather was beautiful, so we wanted to stay outside, just not sweating in the sun. The rigidness of her refusal, her bizarre excuse, and the clear discrimination in how we were treated versus the other customer in an empty restaurant left us feeling incredibly uncomfortable. Ultimately, we opted to just leave. It is incredibly disappointing to go from such a great experience two weeks ago to being made to feel so unwelcome by this individual. Good customer service matters, and we will be taking our business elsewhere.
