Tonight for dinner we were seated right away and Thomas was our waiter. He was great, making sure our drinks were full and we had everything we needed. We had spicy Korean tacos, a salad with sesame ginger dressing, shrimp shumai, and boneless chicken in the sweet Thai chili sauce and steamed rice. The spicy Korean tacos were too hit for my son so he ordered the boneless chicken. Thomas had his order out in no time. The food was delicious. The salad was enormous! And that was some of the BEST dressing I've ever had. After dinner we went to the movies and after the movie got out we went back for some Mochi ice cream We love this place!! We drove around for 45 minutes looking for a new place to eat, and landed on Bonchon Korean Fried Chicken. I ordered 10 wings 1/2 & 1/2 the server then explained the menus are a little out of date, there's a 3rd flavor Sweet Chili sauce. I chose the 2 originals, Spicy & Garlic/Soy. We also got an order of Shrimp Shumai, and our server suggested fried as opposed to steamed. We'd never had shrimp shumai fried, so we got them. Also since I was having wings, I ordered seasoned fries to go with them. The fries were out in just under 5 minutes a full 3-4 minutes prior to the rest of the food. In fact, out before silver setups & napkins. We asked for them and some small plates which were quickly supplied. Surprises, the fries & wings were battered. It didn't say that anywhere on the menu, but I liked them more than the wife did even though we mostly don't like battered fries. The wings came out and for $14.50, seemed a little small. I thought the spicy were great and the heat built. Julie didn't like the hot, but the garlic/soy were tasty, just after a hot wing, you can't taste the garlic or soy. They seemed to just be plain in comparison. The wings come with a side of cole slaw which helped ease the burn. We will order the shrimp shumai again, as the sauce they came in was delicious. We will not however have them fried again, it was just too much fried food for one meal with the wings & fries. We got 8-10 shumai so that was nice. All in all a great experience. read more

I think this specific Bonchon location goes above and beyond for their guests. Our waiter knew the menu word for word, always checked on us, and never pressured us to order or hurry with eating or paying. The chicken wings are always good, as well as the popcorn shrimp that they have. These are my go-to orders so I can't speak for the rest of the menu. However, my sisters say that they love the chicken katsu. Will definitely be back here. read more

Went to revisit this place after visited when they first opened before they got their beer/wine license. This location is closer to us in Nocatee than the one at the Town Center. The owner had messaged me from my last review updating me that they had acquired their beer/wine license which included Soju, so I told him that we're SO THERE!! so took the family back there this past weekend. The wings were exquisite as usual - crispy, flakey, and done just right. The Kim Chee was not as spicy as we're typically used to, but still refreshingly tart and not too salty. The COLESLAW was my great surprise! as a fan of regular coleslaw with my southern BBQ orders, I was pleasantly surprised when they came out with theirs coupled with the wings - I almost wanted to order a pound of it TO GO, it was that good!! On the Soju offering, I was a little surprised that they didn't offer the regular Soju, but flavored ones instead - Mango, Strawberry, Peach, and such - I'm more of a purist, but had the Strawberry one for lack of my preference. Not bad - a little too sweet for me, but it'll do. I will note that my daughter's Katsu seemed a bit over done and dry - we might have caught them on a bad day, since normally it's not dry at all and done just right. Alright let's see, me and my girlfriend were so amped to try this place and from the second we stepped in we were so disappointed. For one, the young lady who took us to our table seemed to have been in a horrendous mood. Didn't greet us, and there was no warmth to the "welcome". She seemed to have been annoyed from the previous guest she was helping and let it bleed into our experience. She asked how many, we said three and she collected three menus and walked away. I looked at my girlfriend and simply said "I guess we're following her?". After being seated we did have an admittedly great server. A stockier built gentleman who was very kind and very helpful. We were disappointed that when we asked for a sauce on the side we were told they weren't allowed to do that and even the server had previously gotten in trouble for getting sauce on the side for his own meal. Seemed kind of silly, considering there could be ingredients in the sauce that someone at our table may have been allergic to, and it was a shared item. While the food was rich in taste, and our server was fantastic, the initial impression of the girl who sat us, and the idiocy of not being able to get sauces on the side was enough for us to not want to return. It may seem ridiculous that the sauce thing was a big deal, but the way they described it it's like they think you're going to take their sauce, reverse engineer it, and open your own restaurant. The server is really the only reason there is a second star in our experience. All in all, we won't be returning. Mochinut across the parking lot is way more affordable, friendly, and an overall better experience. read more

I love KFC (Korean Fried Chicken) so I was immediately drawn to Bonchon (named after those little side dishes at Korean restaurants). So getting straight to the point, yes, the fried chicken and the claim to their fame is delicious. I've had all drumsticks or just wings in all their flavors and they're all winners. Plus having pickled daikon instead of french fries is great to contrast with the greasiness of fried chicken. Unfortunately, they also serve food besides fried chicken and that's where the quality begins to become inconsistent. Now, Bonchon advertises and sings praises of its chicken, as it should, but they never mention; "Come try our sensational Bulgogi" or "Everyone's raving about the Dolsat Bibimbap!" So yeah, the other entrees definitely taste like someone knows the ingredients and recipe (plus they're super popular recipes) but there's no depth. It's not terrible by any means and it's serviceable but not where I'd recommend eating traditional Korean food with better portions of meat I must say. My verdict: Want KFC? Definitely come here, it's addicting. The quality is what you'd expect from an up and coming Food Chain. But.... Want a korean meal that's isn't fried chicken? Pass this place and treat yourself to one of many traditional Korean restaurants. read more

Always a to go order for this place. Best to eat their chicken when it's freshly cooked. Eating it as leftover is not as good. Always like their little sides. Their Japchae is simple compared to a mom and pop korean restaurant but good enough to satisfy your craving. I have also tried their buns which is ok. The meat is not tender so when you bite into it, you ended up eating the entire meat and left with some of the bun. Their to go service is quick and easy. I really like Bonchon and will randomly crave their chicken. I am one of those weird people that doesn't actually like a lot of bread so needless to say I don't like tons of breading on my chicken. Some how Bonchon does really crispy chicken without serving you a sliver of chicken in a mountain of breading. This most recent craving of Bonchon chicken came while my husband was out of town and my dogs were being super extra so I ordered takeout. Luckily I live very close to Bonchon so my food was very fresh when I ate it! I ordered the half and half chicken strips with half soy garlic and half plain, the spicy chicken tacos and shrimp shumai.... Trust me I had leftovers. The spicy chicken tacos were actually my favorite but boy are they spicy. I actually often get a side of pickled radish in order to combat some of the heat. The chicken was sooo crisp and light, it also reheats in an air fryer really well. I wasn't a huge fan of the shrimp shumai but I am also not a huge seafood fan so I was kinda playing with fire ordering it. All together I would absolutely recommend Bonchon in particular this location, the food is always good and when I have eaten there the service has been very good. The only small downside is that it is a bit on the expensive side, personally I think it is worth it on an occasion. read more

Fast and delicious Korean fried chicken wings! Like seriously fast especially if you are in a rush. We live less than ten minutes from the location and our food from order is usually to us in under 20-30 minutes if we just order wings. Our server was nice but the only issue we had yesterday was we had to wait almost 20 minutes in our table before anyone check on us. This branch in particular is right beside a cinema, so we're trying to get early dinner before going there. Had to do some shopping with the wife and found this place and thought it looked different. I know my wife likes to try different thing, but she can't eat chicken due to allergies. We found enough menu items to give it a shot. We ordered some appetizers just to try some different flavors. We ordered the edamame and the takoyaki. I would not suggest the takoyaki. The smell was a bit much and I think it was some sort of shaved shrimp on top which appeared like it was moving and smelled horrid. The edamame was good. My wife ordered the bibimbap and I ordered some chicken strips as well as some seasoned French fries. Both of these dishes are ok. I wouldn't say they were excellent, but they were good. I appreciated the all white meat chicken and my wife said here dish had a bit of the flavor left over from the shrimp shavings. I don't want to bash a place for myself trying different foods. I like the atmosphere and the service was good. The food we liked was good. I had been to the Bonchon in Town Center, but this was my fiance's first time to Bonchon. We decided to pick this as our date night restaurant, so we went one Friday night. It was crowded, and there was a long line of big groups to get in, but since we had our dog with us we were able to immediately get seated at an outside table. It was fun to sit there and watch the people go into the movie theater and hang out outside. The service was a little slow, but considering how busy it was, it gave us time to relax and enjoy each other and the dog. Our waiter was friendly and helpful, and he helped us choose the boneless chicken, chicken fried rice, and the coleslaw. When everything came out, there was plenty of food for the two of us. The boneless chicken is double fried and extra crispy, but it is tender on the inside. The coleslaw was creamy and the perfect portion. The chicken fried rice was good, and there was plenty of it. I called Bonchon to find out why they canceled and the answer they gave me was because I requested to put the sauce in the side which they do not do. If that's the case then why the heck do you have as you special instruction. Furthermore, you can always call the customer to let them instead of just canceling the order and charging the credit card. Not good customer service. DO NOT RECOMMEND. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Honestly, I was not impressed for how much we spent. If you're local to Jax you may have heard of Hawkers. This place gave me the same vibes, shareable options and they gave you your dish as soon as it was ready. Service was awesome, however I was very disappointed that they did not have cups with lids or togo cups for the kids. As a mom of three under 5 this is very IMPORTANT to me. However, we're ALL here for the chicken review. Their soy garlic chicken was greatly flavored and had the perfect crunch to it. I was just disappointed about their chicken sizes. A medium order of their signature fried chicken is 10 wings and 5 drums for $30. We received two maybe three decent drums sizes. Everything else was a drumette and wingette. I've eaten at Bonchons before and this definitely was a first. My husband and I love Bonchon. We first tried the restaurant about six months ago and have been there several times as well as takeout. Their potstickers are cooked the best I've ever had anywhere.
