I've been to Lanjie several times and each time it hits the spot. We went when it first opened so all the stations were fully stocked and ready. I usually stick to only hot pot because grilling and hot pot at the same time is too much for me. My go-to broths are herbal or pork bone. The broth is always flavorful and tasty and comforting. With the sauce station, I can customize my dipping sauce as well as adding it to the soup to bring it to the spice level I like. My friend got spicy sichuan, which she can handle the spicy. It is also good but I would go with Korean seafood if I wanted medium spicy. I like the many food options they offer which even includes shrimp with or without the head and snow crab legs. The revolving veggies and noodles are so convenient and fun. I like to get in my leafy greens - they have bok choy, lettuce, napa cabbage, snow pea tips, and water cress (when they have it). It is also nice that they offer different flavors of ice cream in a cup or waffle cone for dessert. Perfect ending to a meal. Love coming here! I always end up wanting both kbbq and hotpot so having both is always great! Workers are so friendly! I enjoy their sauce options, seafood selection, and veggies/enoki mushrooms. They also have a variety of soup bases which makes it easy for everyone. I personally got the miso this time around and my boyfriend got the pork bone broth. Amazing!!! We had such a wonderful experience. It was mother's day we did 3 Adult Hot Pot + BBQ and two kids Hot Pot only. This was my second time at Lanjie, and was equally as delicious as the first time! Admittedly, it's a little overwhelming the first time you go to a hot pot, but once you've got it down, you're good to go. This place is kind of neat, they've got a vegetable conveyor belt, a buffet line with all kinds of sauces, meats, seafoods, a few selections of fruit and ice cream. For $40, I think it's a pretty sweet deal and as a bonus, the service was great both times. The staff were very patient and do well at explaining the process. The tables tend to get cluttered with a lot of bowls and plates, but again the staff were quick to keep everything pretty tidy. The seating is kind of odd in some instances because only the people closest to the conveyor belt can pull things off. So if you are at a table of six, only the two closest can reach the belt. And you do have one large table for 14, which was more than enough room for a big group. The only downside is the conveyor belt is on the outside of the room, but since you have to get up to get your proteins anyway, it's not more of a walk to get them. We absolutely love dining here. The variety here is incredible, and there is truly something for everyone. My personal favorite is the beef bulgogi, along with all of the fresh vegetables that come around. I especially love the bok choy and zucchini. We also got the beef short ribs, which were tender and flavorful, as well as the beef brisket, which was equally delicious. One of the best parts of the experience is the fully stocked sauce bar. There are so many options to choose from, and I love creating my own custom sauce to pair with the vegetables. I usually make a rice bowl with my favorite sauce, vegetables, and some of the grilled meats. My boyfriend had the spicy szechuan soup base with ramen in addition to the BBQ, and everything was outstanding. They also offer beer and wine, which was a nice touch. First time at a hot pot BBQ for me. We walked in and were greeted by a very nice gentleman who I assumed is the manager or owner. Right away my eyes were feeling watery due to the smoke from the BBQ's at the tables. The man offered to sit us at one of the tables where there was less smoke, which I really appreciated. Our server explains the procedure. If you're new to hot pot like I am you choose your base which is your soup. That's the biggest decision. I've also posted a picture of the all the different bases. You can also get hot pot and barbecue, which is what my husband did . I only got hot pot and that was plenty for me. I first chose the red curry base when it came I wasn't really happy with the flavor, but that was just me. I had tasted my friends and she had the Tom Kai I really liked the flavor. Our server was happy to switch it out for me. It did take quite a while. She was very busy with a lot of different tables. Procedure is- You heat your hot pot up with a little knob on the table which is a stove. Once it's boiling you can add your items that you've chosen from the buffet. I chose noodles, shrimp, scallops, and several other items. There's a lot to choose from on the buffet. Most of the other proteins like beef, pork and lamb are for the barbecue. The restaurant also has a conveyor belt going around where you can take your vegetables. I really enjoyed the hot pot but honestly, I could only eat one bowl of soup even though it's all you can eat. It's very filling. My husband had the hot pot plus he cooked his meat at the table on the barbecue. Once you get the hang of it it's easy. My husband and I both enjoyed it but said that if we really want a big bowl of soup, we would not go back there because it's just too expensive for what it is. if you're a big eater and plan on going to the buffet several times, then this is probably a great place for you. This was my first hot pot/bbq combo, though I've done each separately before when traveling in Asia, where you order a set combo of meat vs an all you can eat setup like this. Each has its merits, the benefit of this being you can make your own combo and if you're hungry, it's a better value. Four of us, including an 11 year old, ate with soft drinks and tip for $195, so it's not inexpensive. The food quality, though, was high overall, and the options were extensive. Many seafood options, lamb, beef, chicken, and pork plus loads of vegetables and noodles. The broths were all flavorful - at our table we tried the miso, pork bone broth, tom yum, and red curry. The kids enjoyed the food and the experience, and we did too. We would definitely return, but not too frequently due to the cost. This is the newest BBQ and hot pot in Jacksonville. New, meaning the location or the building itself is brand new, not an old business that was just changed to a new one. So it was spotlessly clean! We have been here twice and both with large groups, so we were always seated at an area where it is more private with our own server to take care everything for us, except get the food from the buffet. I like this type of BBQ place where we do not have twait for the server to bring us the meat! In some restaurants, you can only order 3-4 meats at a time. Sometimes the wait is longer which is not beneficial since we still have to cook them and there is a maximum time of 1.5-2 hrs eating time. We just did the hotpot, but they have a wide variety of broths, catering to vegetarians, spice lovers and haters, and everyone in between. The buffet area is easy to navigate meats on one side, mushrooms, veggies, and noodles on the magnetic conveyor belt, and fruit and desserts on the other side. I was super impressed by the seafood selection, more namely the crab, clam, and mussels. I was surprised to see oyster too but I was too scared to eat it because I don't really wanna eat anything raw from a buffet table. The meats were pretty frozen, and so it broke apart easily, but it was still pretty good. I was also actually really surprised about how much I loved the shu mai. They basically had everything I wanted to eat. The only thing was I was hoping they had the fish balls with roe inside, but not a big deal at all. The sauce bar wasn't lacking anything either, and I love that they give you a bowl as a saucer because it made it easier to dip your food. Entering and exiting the restaurant is basically a long walk around a border half wall. I only had the Korean bbq as I didn't want to fill up on liquid (hot pot). Service was good but all they're really doing is refilling drinks. They have a conveyor belt circling veggies and those seemed pretty minimal for options. You can add those veggies to your hot as well as grill them so that's pretty cool but nothing really special. I did appreciate the larger than what I'm used to grill and simple controls. Your typical fair of marinated beef and pork. They had salmon and shrimp as well but the salmon was cut so small, it doesn't do well on the grill. Another cool thing they have is a sauce bar - again think Mongolian - which you can use to enhance your grill and hot pot experience. More of a 3.5 stars but not quite a 4. To be honest, this was one of the most mediocre experience I've had at a Hotpot place. For the price that I paid I expected a lot more selection of meat, seafood, and quality of service. What I do like about this is that it's located in the heart of St. Johns County a newer Plaza and the restaurant fairly new so it is very clean. However, I have high expectations for the taste of the broth I selected which was Tom-yum flavor. After I used up the broth to cook the seafood, our waitress refilled my broth with just hit water & made the remaining of my broth tasteless which was very disappointing. The conveyor belt with veggies & noodles is a nice touch for convenience when selecting your side dishes. You have many different soups to choose from vegetable is the only gluten-free one and that is OK, because then you have an array of vegetables, proteins and starch that are gluten-free to add to this delicious soupbase. Not only is the soup out of this world, but then they have shrimp, steak, all sorts of different proteins that are also gluten-free. It's quiet in there, spacious, I love the concept of your own table where your soup base goes and you have your own grill right there. I initially ordered the Korean Seafood soup base (pictured). I was hesitant to try it in case it was too spicy for me but the waitress said she would swap it for another choice if needed. We have been waiting since we first saw the sign "coming soon" for Lanjie Hot Pot & BBQ to open and now that they have I have been there twice. You can get all you can eat Hot Pot and Korean BBQ for $37.99! Once seated you have a number of options for your hot pot which I have been getting Spicy Szechuan and it's legit. If you eat those Szechuan Peppers/Peppercorns your mouth will go numb. They really have just about everything you would want for both Hot Pot and BBQ. I will say I a big fan of the Hot Pot but if I had to go with what I prefer it would be the BBQ. My go to are the Beef Bulgogi, Short Ribs, and what I must have missed my first this there are the Lamb Chops. They are the best. The Lamb Chops are also thick enough where you can get them cooked to a perfect medium rare. If you're going to come here you have to try all 3 for sure. Plus that's also what on the best parts is all the options to try. Another one of my favorite parts is the sauce bar. I'm a real sucker for a sauce bar. They have a number of recipes for sauces you can make but I always like to make my own. They also have a conveyor belt throughout the restaurant with veggies, noodles, and anything else you would like to add. Don't forget about desert either cause they have a flavor or ice cream for everyone. The seasoned meat is perfectly seasoned and flavorful. The unseasoned are perfect for soaking in the flavorful broth of the hot pot. Also the black pepper beef is definitely my favorite That does mention even scratch the surface of offerings from the carnivore section but that would take all day to tell you about. Make sure you hit up the extensive sauce bar. Add spice or different flavors to your broth or use as a dipping sauce. You can make your own mix or follow the recipes they have. Finally, they have the noodles and veggies on a rotating bar that circulates the tables and is constantly being restocked with things like rice cakes, lettuce, cabbage, sweet potatoes, mushrooms of all types, udon, rice noodles, ramen, zucchini, carrots, onions, and so much more. This place was incredible! We did the hot pot and BBQ. So much variety and boy did we eat a ton. We selected the miso and Korean seafood for our hot pot. The Korean seafood was really flavorful. I added veggies; spinach and broccoli. On the grill we cooked shrimp, scallops, steak, and three other meats. There was so much to choose from that we are looking forward to going back to try some of what we missed. We were so stuffed but decided to stuff ourselves some more with ice cream. I love hotpot and got pretty excited learning that there is a new hot pot place closer to where we live. So I dragged hubby to try it with me as soon as I learned about LanJie Hot Pot & BBQ. If you've been to other hotpot places, it's very similar. Read no further because they work the same. If you are brand new to this, it may be a bit overwhelming. We sat next to a table where four young ladies were not sure what to do but had a great time with the server's assistance (kudos to them for trying something new). This is an all-you-can-eat hotpot & BBQ. You can choose to only have the hotpot, only have the BBQ, or do both. We did both because we wanted to try them. The key is to explore with all the ingredients, but only cook what you can eat. Try a little bit of each items to see whether you like it or not to reduce food waste. There is also a time limit so check with your server so you are not surprised. For hotpot, choose your soup base - We picked Spicy Sichuan. It wasn't very spicy for us and the flavor is good. If you are not used to spicy, there are other soup bases to choose from. Then pick up any veggies you like from the conveyer belt rotating through the entire restaurant and pick up whatever protein you like from the buffet of raw ingredients. You can ask the server on what are the cooking time if you are unsure (or they list it in their FAQ on their FB page). Don't forget to create a sauce to your taste at the sauce bar. From the service perspective, for a new restaurant that still have a few things to iron out, it is pretty good. Some awkwardness & pacing issue from the server but those are minor and will get better over time. Overall, Lanjie is very similar to other hotpot places we have tried.
