They place a big precedent on take out orders, if you walk in and order, be prepared to wait much longer than you need to. The food is good, not great, but Spicy isn't very spicy at all. So I decided to check this place out... located in Union Center. Parking is street or there is a parking lot noted behind the building Inside was more spacious than I would have thought. Tables were dressed up with table settings. The only thing is that the floor was sticky and made noise when walking on it. So this place has a lot of photos of the wings etc... I decided not to try the wings because I'm not a wing girl. I don't like eating off bones that much so honestly I don't do wings justice( in general) I decided to try the salmon avocado ball. Eh, I love bonchon but this place is always horrible with their service. we always end up waiting a good 30minutes to hour for our food and the tables are always dirty when we arrive-given there's always only one person working (HIRE MORE PEOPLE). Food is good though when it does come out (and I know it says it takes 30 minutes to prepare the food since it's fresh, but still... because it takes about 10 minutes for them to notice us, we're usually here for a good hour and half to two hours to sit, order, and eat). When I am in the area, I make an effort to stop in and get my Korean fried chicken fix (I migrated to South Jersey). I must say that the quality of the food had gone down, as well as the portion sizes. My husband and I ordered the Chicken fried rice, Japchae, and an order of Soy Garlic boneless wings. For starters, the portions of rice and Japchae were smaller than usual. Not to say that I can't afford to miss a portion or two, but unfortunately, the prices did not adjust with the size. And the CHICKEN! Ugh! Such a huge disappointment. It was so overcooked, the outer crust flaked off in large sections, leaving behind a flavorless, dry product. I struggled to eat it since I had already spent my money, but even that proved to be a harrowing feat. I focused on not choking instead of savoring the food. The fried chicken's really moist with a crunchy, puffy, and glistening coating on the outside which delightfully cracks upon biting like a crème brulee. The Medium Combo of 10 wings and 5 drumsticks was quite sufficient for 2 people, especially with fries or some other sides. About half of the chicken in the Combo had a satisfying "soy garlic" flavor while the other half was adequately spicy. The Seasoned Fries were excellent with a crisp flour coating, garlic-parmesan seasoning and a good sprinkle of parsley. It came with a skimpy amount of slightly spicy mayo. About the other stuff- the Takoyaki (fried octopus dumplings) each had one tiny piece of octopus covered in a whole lotta dough. I want to start off by saying that I usually love Bonchon! However, today's batch just was not it for me and I am severely disappointed. I went to school in Boston and would go to the Brighton location very often. The drumsticks here are tiny in comparison, over cooked, and under-sauced . The chicken is actually very dry. I know that it's double fried as part of the technique but something is very off. This could be an off day so I'm open to coming back but, honestly I don't see myself doing so. Service is also kind of slow. Our waitress was a nice young lady but she was the only one serving the dining room while also working in the back on take out orders. If I could give this place zero stars I would. This location is the absolute worst. The chicken came out so dry and tough it was basically inedible. I should have checked Yelp before placing the order because it's apparent this place doesn't know how to cook their chicken. So many bad reviews. I called to get a refund and the kid who answered the phone was so rude. The manager wasn't much better. Wanted me to drive an hour to return their shitty chicken to get a refund. No thanks, not worth my time. They agreed to issue a refund if I sent a picture of the dry chicken so he could "show the kitchen." The manager actually tried to give me one of his employees cell phone number to text the picture. I'm not kidding, he did not put me on hold and I heard him ask the employee. Eventually was put on the phone with someone else and received an email address to send said dry chicken photo. After all this they didn't even issue a refund for the full amount I spent on chicken. Not to mention we requested coleslaw as the side option and paid for extra coleslaw. Not in the bag when we got home and was told they were out of it. So maybe let your customers know and not charge them for something you know wasn't going into the bag?? I can't believe this location is still open. This was our first time actually dining in at a Bonchon location and never knew they had a large menu of the usual Korean items. This location had actual table service which was nice . Our waitress Ursula was super nice and very attentive. We ordered up wings , Bulgogi Udon , Korean Bulgogi tacos were amazing I loved the sauce they used on it . The only reason I'm giving this location 4 stars is the long wait for food (comes roughly 30-40 minutes after you order). I"ve ordered nearly everything on this menu and I highly recommend the basic 'soy garlic' wings. All items are fairly priced except for the appetizers- you can get 30 wings for $23. However, I must say the size of the wings you get varies greatly upon that day- I've gotten huge wings here but I've also gotten wings half that size. Also the appetizers and sides are on the expensive side- in my opinion the only one worth getting is the salmon ball.
