This is sort of "part 2" to my review of my July 4th movie going experience. As we left the theater in Manville on that brutally hot day, my old friend abruptly brought up the fact that he still owed me a meal for driving him up to Paramus a few months ago so he could buy a used car. At the time, he told me he'd buy me dinner for helping him out. I told him he didn't need to buy me dinner. If I can help someone...friend, family member or acquaintance...I'll do it out of the goodness of my heart, not because I'm expecting a recompense. He insisted he was buying me dinner. Being that it was July 4th, and I doubted any restaurant would be open, I was suspicious that his offer was a conman's grift to get out of buying me food. Then again, he had brought it up. I felt guilty for doubting his sincerity. We drove to restaurants in Gillette and Basking Ridge. All closed. We went to Gabriel's Fountain in Martinsville, where we had previously eaten. We saw people and assumed it was open. As it turned out, they were only serving ice cream, not regular food. I love ice cream, but given I had eaten a tub of popcorn, a box of cookie dough candy, and a Coke just an hour or so previously, I wasn't really in the mood for ice cream. Truth be told, I wasn't in the mood for food period. But I thought I could down a bowl of soup somewhere and relieve my friend of this burden of "payback." So we soldiered on. Miraculously, a diner was open in New Providence. My friend didn't want diner food. In Murray Hill, we found an open Chinese restaurant that looked relatively cheap. My friend didn't feel like Chinese food. He checked his phone and said there were 3 restaurants in Summit that were open for business, and they had good reviews. At that point, I just wanted to go home to my air-conditioned domicile and crash, but...we continued on. In Summit, 2 of the restaurants he had read about on his phone were closed. The 1 that was actually open had a line in front of it a half mile long. I said, "I'm not standing on line in this heat for anything. Let's just go..." "Look, try the main street! There has to be something open!" On Summit's Springfield Ave., we parked on the street (no parking meter tolls on this holiday). Some people were out and about on the street, and some places actually did look like they might be open. In spite of his earlier expressed antipathy towards the partaking of Chinese food on this torturous (weather-wise) evening, my friend steered us through the open doors of Blossom Asian Bistro. The restaurant is spacious and modernistically furnished. We were seated and after 1 look at the menu, my friend said, "I can't pay for you tonight-- not at these prices!" I knew it would be pointless to remind him of the cheap prices at the Murray Hill Chinese place he had rejected, so I didn't. And then, I don't know what weird impulse took hold of me--- I wasn't really hungry, I didn't have a lot of money on me, and eating a massive amount of food like I was still 20 years old can set my increasingly precarious digestion absolutely and embarrassingly haywire, but I decided to order a meal in addition to the soup. Call it the "Imp of the Perverse," or maybe I'm just a gluttonous food addict. I thought, "I can fast tomorrow." Service was friendly, prompt. We both ordered the Chicken Wonton Soup, and I was pleasantly surprised. The broth was tasty, not salty, and the wontons, light and delicate...not at all like the doughy, heavy ones that I'm accustomed to (which I still love in spite of their doughy heaviness), were delicious. I ordered the cheapest item on the menu (can't remember what my friend ordered, but he liked it, whatever it was). For me, it was Sesame Chicken, described on the menu as "white meat chicken fried with lotus flour in sweet tangy sesame sauce." I'm not sure what "lotus flour" is, but the dish was served with brown rice, and I enjoyed every mouthful. The food was fresh, prepared with real care, and was eminently enjoyable. The prices were expensive, but then this is Summit. I think it comes with the territory. And the food was very good. Sometimes (oftentimes) you do pay for what you get. If I have a negative to offer, it's that the temperature inside bordered on being uncomfortable. The Reading Theater in Manville had felt like an icebox, but at Blossom, I was 1 step away from breaking into an unsightly sweat. I didn't, but I thought at these prices, the place should be cooler on such a brutally hot day than it was. Given my previous consumption of popcorn and candy, I wasn't in the mood for dessert (or maybe it was my stomach indicating to me, "I've been merciful so far today, but you order dessert now on top of everything else you've eaten, and I really AM gonna embarrass you! Big time!"). We paid and left. I promised my rebellious stomach I would fast the next day. And did. Definitely recommended. When I'm flush, I'd like to come back and try 1 of the more expensive dishes. With a dessert. read more

Finally had the opportunity to have a dine-in experience instead of takeout. And - wow! The dining areas are spacious, clean, and colorful. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and super attentive. Their menu inspires you to want to order so many dishes! Their hot and sour soup was one of the best I've had in a very long time. The food is served very hot and portions are truly fantastic. We were able to take leftovers home which heated up just perfectly. I would always opt to eat in and enjoy the atmosphere and friendliness. I loved sitting in one of their booths. I was back home for the weekend and I always request to go to Blossom Asian Bistro! Their food is always super tasty and fresh! This time, we decided to get chicken and broccoli with the soy ginger sauce. We also got the basil beef. My sister ordered sushi! The beef and chicken dishes were super delicious, and I like how they put a ton of meat in these dishes. Sometimes I find places put a ton more veggies than meat, but there was a perfect amount of both. The restaurant is also very welcoming with great ambiance, and they really decorated for Christmas which was nice to see. The bathrooms are also super clean. The service here is also fast, and our waitress was timely and made sure to take care of us and check once we got our food. My family looks forward to coming back here again! read more

We had a great time coming here and dining outside. The service here is amazing and very fast to get your food. We ordered a hand roll, sesame chicken, and udon vegetable noodles. Everything was great but we definitely recommend the salmon hand roll and udon noodles! read more

The cashier and waiter, Cindy I'm pretty sure her name was, was very rude during checkout. We were paying with Apple Cash, and I didn't leave a bigger tip because I'm a teenager and didn't have extra money left on my card. After seeing that, she threw the pen at my friend, acted disrespectfully, and slammed the checkbook down. There was no reason to treat us like that over a tip. At least we came to your restaurant and paid for our food. The food was okay not the best and the restaurant itself was nice, but the attitude completely ruined the experience. The staff seriously need to work on how they treat customers. I would not recommend going here if this is how customers are treated for not leaving the amount they expect. read more

Poor food quality, and poor service. The food is not fresh. Took some food home and because it was poorly packed it destroyed my clothing.

Easily seated with no wait. The restaurant is very large. I did like that it was more Asian fusion. You can just get the best of each place. Thai tea was great. Perfect. Salt and pepper calamari: so light and yummy Sesame chicken w/ brown or white rice: it was good. I couldn't finish it but there was a lot of sauce. Also lightly fried. The place is giant with lots of seating, especially booths that fit parties of six comfortably. We ordered the mango tango roll, fantasy roll, dumplings, and the following sushi: salmon, yellowtail, fluke, mackerel, and octopus. Dined in for a weekend lunch with my family on a friend's recommendation ! Great interiors and well thought out and spaced out booths. We ordered Basil veggies, Scallion pancakes and a Japanese lunch box with Chicken teriyaki. The portions are good and flavors are definitely authentic. The only point I would call for attention is the staff. I definitely did not feel welcomed. In addition to the food, people enjoy dining experience due to the hospitality. Blossom is a great place! I always order our so can't comment on ambiance. However I eat from here at least 2x a month. Pros: food is fantastic depending on what you order. In my opinion stick to appetizers, sushi and a few menu things. The best in my opinion are: Beef satay appetizer-- great Shumai -- standard but good Avocado salmon roll -- fantastic Rainbow roll -- fantastic Bangkok beef amazing Anything w brown rice is great too. Can't go wrong w their sushi it's $$$ but epic. It's also nice that if you want wine you order it at the same time. Nice! Cons: They try to do too much. chicken teriyaki is literally the worst I've ever had. Dry chicken strips. Gross! Pad Thai is a yuk too. Go to a Thai place. Here it tastes like ketchup. Updated review - I will order from here for sushi only. The sushi is excellent and fresh! I order cucumber avocado, sweet potato tempura (yumm!) and spicy crunchy tuna roll. Highly recommend the sushi! My husband likes the shrimp tempura roll. read more

I ordered a Pad Thai lunch special. The noodles were thin, not a traditional Pad Thai noodle. There wasn't much chicken, and it was a bit too saucy. I don't have super high expectations for a Thai dish from a restaurant that isn't Thai, so I thought this was just OK for $13. It was hot and ready quickly. This restaurant took cheap Americanized Chinese food and decided to sell it at a premium because their presentation is better than slop. Scallion pancakes for 10 dollars? You realize that is a 2 dollar street food. General Tso's Chicken for 23 dollars? 15 dollars for two tiny duck spring rolls? What?! And it isn't like the portions are large. They serve like high end restaurant small restaurants but their flavors and ingredients reeks of the usual cheapness that these foods usually are made of. None of it was worth it. If you want food like this, do yourself a favor, go to any cheap Chinese restaurant. You'll get the same flavor but larger portions. read more

I am sure we did not order the most popular dishes but we ordered what we were hungry for and that was good. Service is very good. Waitress was excellent. Tables are cleared immediately. Place is decorative and spacious. Tables are nicely positioned. Cloth napkins a nice touch. Food was above average. We ordered sesame and General Tao's chicken with brown rice and white rice respectively. The food was good and hot when it arrived at the table. Lotus flower is a nice touch. I ate the flower too. I can only speak for the sushi here which is good. I get the take out 3 sushi lunch special of spicy tuna, spicy salmon, and eel avocado which are all good. They use small bits of tempura batter in the spicy salmon and spicy avocado. It does come with salad however the dressing does not come with the typical orange/carrot colored dressing. The dressing they give almost takes like mayonnaise which I don't particularly like. read more

This restaurant is very calm and beautiful inside. Good for large parties as well! I love that every table comes with good quality hand sanitizer!!! So important! The menu is with a good range of Asian cuisine variety. My sushi roll (Autumn of New Jersey) was very delicious! I wish it had more crunch with cucumber or something but oh well. My husband and I came here because we were around the neighborhood during lunch time and parked right in front of this restaurant. So glad we did! They have great lunch prices and give good portions. We started with the miso soup which was amazing, then the seaweed salad (which was perfect and nutty!) and for mains we did the shrimp tempura roll lunch special and the beef pad Thai. Everything was on point. It was delicious and we still had leftovers. Only thing that I wish they would change is substituting the California rolls from the bento box, but other than that. I give this place an A+. read more

We came here because I was craving sushi and outside eating. Seemed super popular and I love Summit. It was much more expensive than I thought. Even more than NYC prices! I also didn't appreciate how the appetizer for the lobster spring rolls looked much larger in size on the menu photo than in actuality. That was a big letdown for 17 dollars. A delightful addition to Summit's restaurants. I like that they have Sushi, Thai and a little bit of Chinese on the menu. Would come here again, and recommend this place. Food: delicious, and arrived quickly. The bistro was not very busy, with about 20 customers there total. We got the Salt and pepper appetizer, which was done well. Both entrees we also delicious. Service: we were greeted and seated promptly. Server was on top of it all night. Top notch service. Quality: clearly they are aiming for high quality, and they take it seriously. Worst over priced Chinese food Asian Food ever!!! Purchased Bangkok Beef which very chewy and not that flavorful, the four season mixed just spicy and sweet also lacked favor. Forget about the vegetables fried rice which seems like the bottle of soya sauce was empty and they just had enough to rinse the bottle to add to the lack of color fried rice. I went there for lunch the first day it opened. Everyone was very attentive. Very clean and nice environment. I got the beef satay and beef teriyaki bento box. Everything was delicious. Miso soup VERY generous size and so yummy. My only slightly negative comment is the teriyaki flavor was not what I expected... tasted too much like a curry and I was craving a different flavor so I couldn't finish it. I work two doors down so don't worry I will be back! I also went there for dinner to celebrate my dad's birthday and everything was delicious. My dad saw a picture in your menu that he really wanted because he loves seafood but unfortunately it was not offered however!, a gentleman who I think is the manager or owner came over and offered to have the guys make something similar for him. How this place has 4 stars is beyond me. Not only did it take forever for delivery but it was subpar to say the least. The cold sesame noodles? Meh. Chicken wonton soup? Flavorless. The chicken lettuce wraps were a joke (see picture). The worst offender was the spicy crunchy tuna roll. Somehow it managed to be both greasy and flavorless. What kind of Asian fusion place can't make something as basic as a spicy tuna roll? Not to mention how ridiculously expensive they are for food that's not worth the price. Never again. read more
