It is very random and eclectic inside the restaurant. It is either neurotically or chaotically decorated. You decide. You have claw machines, a British telephone booth, a bear brick painting painted like Iron man next to a neon "good vibes" sign and a large comfy sofa in the front in case you want to take a nap after eating their delicious chicken. Placing all judgment aside based purely on the aesthetic environment, this place makes some slamming soy garlic chicken and some tasty fries! That's all you need to know. Service was pleasant and the one gentleman seemed to be hustling bringing out people's food to their tables or calling out their numbers. The lady at the register kept the line moving. It wasn't busy when we initially ordered, but then there was an influx of customers out of nowhere! Initially I thought the price was kind of steep for 6 pieces of chicken but then I saw the size and they are huge! I added a side of fries and a drink and it came to a total of $17 and some change. If you dine in there are free refills. One of my friends came back to our table with a mini cup of ice cream. Apparently they have a freezer of ice cream and popsicles that are complimentary! So that was a nice added touch! They offer military discounts! Just show your ID! I asked. Not too soon after, I heard a gentleman that had purchased food prior to me comment out loud that he wish he knew that earlier. I just always try to ask wherever I go, the worst they can say is no. ‍ I don't go to Chesapeake often, but if i'm ever out this way, I would definitely stop by again. The entrance is a bit confusing when driving up. While it faces the main street of Battlefield Blvd you have to turn at the traffic light and go behind another building that's adjacent to it, just make sure you don't overshoot and miss the turn. This place seemed to have a lot of not so great reviews or were a mixed bag, but I figured it was at the point of I'm just going to figure this out myself and experience it. Ok so I ordered take out via grub hub but I've passed this place many times and it always looks empty. The food came quick and looked appealing, there was also an abundance plates were heavy. The fried chicken was very crunchy even after the delivery but I do live about 6 mins from this place. The issue with the chicken was I could taste the butter or honey - it taste like plain fried chicken - want bad at all. Just not what I ordered, although I can see the honey in the bottom of the container... the chicken wasn't sticky, but a little greasy so I guess that may have been the butter. hush puppies was a 1 super basic, tasted from frozen. The spring roll also A 1 wrap way to thing more like and egg roll, and didn't come with a sauce, also didn't hold up the crunchy. Finally the hibachi I added extra onion, zucchini, and added cabbage ... love the grilled veggies thank goodness I did as you will see from the photos veggies were minimal. Chicken was good like a 4 and the steak was a 1, very bland and supper chewy, it was the worst cut of steak, in my experience with hibachi you can upgrade to filet there were no options to upgrade the meat add extra sauce nothing, only add or remove veggies and your choice of starch. I happened to be driving by and stopped into this Lava Korean fried chicken and Teriyaki spot. Service was good and they say hello as soon as you walk in. The Korean Fried Chicken Wings with Yangnyeom sauce was excellent!! The presentation with the green dried herbs on top of the wings was adorable. I was underwhelmed by the Chicken Teriyaki, the sauce wasn't amazing and in my opinion not worth it. I won't be getting that again. The inside of the building has eclectic decor that is sort of Asian inspired but there is also 2 random claw toys to one side. Overall, I recommend coming here to try the wings, they are the bomb! They have a rewards program of some type - haven't been there enough to figure it out. read more

Tried this place out for the first time and they didn't disappoint. We tried the honey, lemon, and soy garlic spring onion. I think the soy garlic was the best, honey was a bit too sweet for me, and the lemon had a slight kick of spice. Loved how they allowed us to get all flats for the soy garlic and the crunchiness was perfect. The wings also were a good size and not tiny wings. Place was pretty slow and was able to get to go and still enjoy the crunchiness. Seems like they just recently opened. read more

The one time I come in to get my normal order but wanted something different, I get an attitude from a rude cashier. I mentioned a picture that I saw of something that was being advertised there and I wanted to try instead of my regular order. She said it's not there. Ok, I get that but that attitude was unnecessary. And then I go to get my normal order proceeding to say what it was at least 3 times when she kept trying to put in another order for the flavor I didn't want. When I got my regular order, I definitely didn't taste the flavor that I normally do and it was smaller portions. It makes me not want to come back. The whole 45 minutes from deciding to eat in the same song played over and over again not changing. "I'm so sick of the song ... " and hearing the game go off there were no good vibes with this visit, food or music. KFC and Popeyes have better tasting coleslaw as well. The guy with the glasses is nicer working here. read more

I got lemon honey chicken and garlic soy and it was so freakin good. I got a dude of their spicy chili wing flavor so I can try and it was actually spicy . The guy at the front counter was super nice , and helped me pick flavors, restaurant was clean . This place needs more business! They have seafood boil and hibachi also . Was it good? Was it bad? It was neither, it was just eh. Service ok but it only took 5 minutes to get out 6 pieces of wings. The soy garlic had no flavor of garlic or soy, it was just sugar. Would I come back, probably not but I think everyone should just try it. read more

Dry! I ordered some sort of cheese chicken tender. It was coated in cheese powder similar to Cheeto dust. The fries were dusted with the same. The two tiny cups of whatever dip it had were not enough to help it. We also ordered plain tenders and unbelievably it doesn't come with any sauce. We had to order that separately for another $2. We also got the teriyaki chicken and rice. The rice was dry and you barely get any chicken. As far as portion sizes go, you're better off going down two red lights and hitting the Panda Express. Quite a disappointment since I had high hopes for this place. The only bright side is it shares a parking lot with Freddie's so you can go next door for custard. read more

We stopped at Lava the other night for our first ( but surely not the last ) time. Since we hadn't been there, we asked what the most popular chicken wings were. The gentleman said it was their garlic soy wings. We got an order of those and an order of hibachi shrimp with the fried rice option. Both were brought to our table quickly and both were delicious. The garlic soy wings had just a hint of heat and the sauce was excellent. The hibachi had fresh veggies and the shrimp were medium size and cooked just right. We can't wait to go back! read more
