This place is very good if you don't go after a Nationals game. The food was amazing and the cocktails were well made. However, because we went after a Nationals game the service was horrible. After we got seated it we had to go back to the hostess and ask for a server. Don't order cocktails b/c it took forever. Also, two things we ordered didn't arrive. One wasn't even on our receipt. I've heard so much about Bonchon from my co-workers and finally got to see what all the hype is about, and let me tell you, the hype is real. Hubs and I shared an order of the half and half wings and they were delicious. The soy garlic was my favorite though. We also shared an order of fries which were delicious and a hearty serving. I was drawn to this new location of Bonchon by a friend who is a great fan of Korean-style chicken. Our waitress greeted us promptly, and as first time guests, she explained the many chicken varieties as well as her recommendations. The menu is solid enough with a variety of dishes but also contains the bare basics: wings, drums & strips. The two sauces (soy sauce & hot and spicy) leave a little to be desired, but the crunchy double fried layer on the chicken is quite flavorful. The price is moderate for the quantity of food. Additionally we ordered the salmon avocado roll, which as explained had a slight fishy taste but was light and delicious. But be weary that the lunch Specials "DO NOT" apply during a baseball game. Our family has been here a couple times, and we love it! It has a lot of kid friendly food, and it's generally not crowded. The servers and manager are so friendly. We get wings and drumsticks--non-spicy for the kids. Also chicken strips and the seasoned fries. I wouldn't call it a budget place. For our family, it's a special treat, but still very convenient. This branch is just as good as the others. It was kind of a ghost town on Friday during dinner. I just got take out. You can call ahead. They aren't as busy yet as other locations, so they had my 5 piece drums ready ten minutes after I called. I wish the spicy was spicier though - maybe I should ask next time... After hearing things about this place we decided to go check it out. Customer service was ok. We had a new server who was accompanied by one that has been there longer. They started off well, but after we received our food they were pretty non consistent. We sat there for while for someone to come by to give us our checks. I watch the new server continually go over to one of the tables that was there for a while to ensure cups were filled and if they needed anything. We didn't get that same type of service. Bonchon is a favorite for me regardless of where I am...however, Im giving this location 4/5 stars because how service was extremely slow. We had to constantly ask others servers for refills and to check on our food. I'm assuming our server was either new or just not feeling being at work that day. Went to Bonchon Navy Yard yesterday after the Nats game and everything was great. I've been to quite a few of the Bonchon's in the area and Navy Yard did not disappoint. Ambience was great even though the Nats couldn't pull it out. 1) Drink selection - quite a selection of draft beers. The Port City Whit was excellent and I was surprised at their liquor selection especially the Japanese Scotch Whiskeys. I think I counted 4 2) Appetizers - the fries are amazing. They kinda taste like Funyun's but in a great way. Salmon ball is really good as well. Will try the mandu next time. 3) Food - Chicken was on point which was expected, but the Bull Dakk (chicken with some rice cakes and a cheese in a spicy red sauce was ridiculously good.) Super spicy but you can't stop eating it. The bartenders told me that you can actually take the chicken into the game. Can't wait to get back down for another game and eat some Bonchon.. read more

At first, I did not get why everyone goes on about Bonchon. I agreed that the fried chicken is unbelievably crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. But it basically tasted like good Chinese food, especially the Asian soy garlic sauce. But several days later I was still thinking about the flavor of the spicy chicken. Many visits later, I'm a confirmed addict. I get the chicken combo with spicy sauce and a side of cooling white rice. I live only two blocks away so satisfying a craving is easy enough. I always carry out. I do, however, find their ordering system of tell YOU when your chicken is ready annoying. But if that gets me the best product, I'm okay with it because, again, I live a short walk away. Don't bother with the salmon ball. It's got very little flavor. If you like salmon balls, get the one as Sticky Rice on H Street. read more
