Finally went back to this restaurant. This time I ordered the Tilapia Imperial (Tilapia stuffed with other seafood like shrimp, etc). It also comes with two sides of your choice. I ordered the Jasmine Rice and Sweet Potato Mash. The whole dish was delicious. I also had a couple martinis. The Ocean Trust Tropic Heat, sweet with a little heat from jalapeño. And the raspberry martini, sweet and seemed alot stronger. Both were good but the Tropic Heat was much better. If you like Fish definitely go to this restaurant. Bonefish microwave is more like it. I just ate there with my family and we were seated in a booth next to the kitchen in the bar area. We ordered our food and I was watching the kitchen. I noticed that there is one person at the end of the line closest to the dining area that kept putting plastic bags into the microwave, taking them out, cutting one end and putting them on a plate. The servers then removed the bag and threw them into bin under the counter. I now see this microwaved food coming to my table. I ordered Scallop and Shrimp Scampi Filet Mignon, I did not see the Filet cooked but the bag that came out of the microwave was definitely my scallop and shrimp scampi. I complained to the manager and the manager said it is just the vegetables that get microwaved but I did not have vegetables on my order and later the manager admitted that it was the scallop and shrimp scampi that was in the bag microwaved. I don't pay restaurant prices to get microwaved food. read more

I've been to Bone-fish in Broward county FL many times, always a good experience. Now, having recently moved to IL and discovering this location VERY close to where my Girlfriend lives over in the Algonquin Commons I figured it'd be worth visiting. WRONG! The food was overpriced, under-cooked, small portioned and repeatedly messed up. I was so upset I even had to send a plate back as it was simply awful. (Lobster Roll.) To further the already ruined experience our server wasn't very polite, nor was she very knowledgeable about the menu. I could tell that she hated us being there through the glare in here eyes just above her very forced smile. $65 we left still hungry, annoyed and very unsatisfied. I will not be back to this location, and as a result of my experiences on that night, I'll also probably never dine at another Bone-Fish. Exercise EXTREME caution if you plan to dine here. read more

Let me start from when we arrive. We were seated in a nice table. Our server came over & we ordered Drinks, which were a glass of wine. Server came back 7 took our appetizer order, which was the" Bang Bang Shrimp" ,this which was very spicy ,but very good ( you need to order this). We proceeded to order off the special for 2 menu. We ordered the Bistro Filet,each of us. we asked the server what came with it,& he said Salad, Main course, & 2 sides. When it came out we only received (1) salad.We asked if we were suppose to share the one, we were told my the Manger that we were suppose to get (2) salad's & apologized, for the mix up. We were starting to eat out salad's when the Main Course came out! They should have waited for us to finish out salad first. My wife ordered both sides the same ( Both Broccoli), i ordered the Broccoli & the Rice. When it came out her Broccoli should have been " Twice" the size of mine ( which mine was large),but it was the same size as mine, even tho i also got my rice as the 2nd side. The Manager came over to our table & corrected the problem with another side of Broccoli for her. She complemented us for the Shrimp ,which we didn't want her to do, but she insisted. All-in-All, the Filet was awesome, & the rest of our dinner was very good. Quite frankly, I'm not sure why we don't go here more - we went when it first opened, were happy then, and returned now - about 5 years later - and, once again - happy! (Oh wait - I just remembered - fussy children. That's right - the boy has now decided seafood is good, and it's opened up some options for us.) Based on price, it's comparable to Red Lobster - however food wise, this is a better choice, for quality, taste and fewer deep fried items. It was a week ago - so having a hard time pullng what we all ate out of my brain - I do know son had a fish stuffed with seafood, and loved it. (I had some too - was delicious. I had the rainbow trout with lemon butter, and hubby had scallops. Everything was perfectly cooked and tasty. Decor is pleasant, wait staff were perfect. We enjoyed our selves. The restaurant does seem to be a bit more "restaurant" than "bar" (though I think I did spot a loung area on the other side). It seems to be a bit quieter in atmosphere than some of the other restaurants in Alqonquin Commons - so if you want to be able to chat with the people you are eating with (as opposed to yelling over loud music, cheering sports crowds and/or mildly drunk people) this may be a good option. I went to Bonefish last week and at first I was not impressed as it took 7-10 minutes for someone to initially greet my friend and I at the table. However the waitress and the owner were very apologetic and bought the first round of drinks on them. I thought that was a very nice touch! Overall the service was really good though. The pomegranate martini was amazing and the filet was also really good that I had. The bang bang shrimp for an appetizer was highly recommended. That was excellent! This place used to be good the first few years it was open, then the quality of the actual food just went to crap. Pretty much now just pre-made food from a warehouse that they microwave, and it's crap. The last time I was there the "food truck" never came so they had no hamburgers for anyone. I ordered the lobster grilled cheese which was supposed to be served with a bisque never happened. Instead just really bad tasted sandwich with freezer burnt lobster served with an off-paired soup. If their "food truck" isn't coming on time then it's time for the restaurant manager to go to a local produce dealer and get some fresh ingredients. There are plenty of grocery stores nearby. Terrible service, small portions, there were four of us, the server forgot to take one of the orders, when she came back with our drinks, we had to ask her to take the last order. She forgot one of our salads, My wife order the salmon with two different sauces, We asked for them on the side, they put both on them on the Salmon, The bill came, NO PEN!!!!! Went here with friends for dinner. Wasn't extremely hungry so went with appetizers. Bang Bang shrimp were highly recommended and they were great. ALWAYS love calamari and that was a BIG disappointment. Seemed like they really skimped on the calamari and tried to cover that fact up with red peppers, peppericinis and a BIG bed of lettuce. Yes, this place has always been a favorite. Quality atmosphere, quality, service, and equal quality food. Reasonable prices for fun foods that won't disappoint no matter what part of the menu you're looking. The waiters are knowledgeable about the menu and are always willing to converse. Bang Bang Shrimp (5/5) --- It's probably the best shrimp appetizer in the face of the earth. Way better than any shrimp cocktail you will ever waste money on. It's flavorful, it's crispy, and it's just plain friggin' good for your soul. Fresh Raspberry Martin (4/5) --- I mean, it was an overpriced drink that tasted like bitter Gatorade and a little fizz. It's exactly what I expected, and I got what I ordered. Crab-Crusted Cod (5/5) --- It's par for this restaurant. Quality cooked fish, solid breading things. Side of Sweet Potato Mash and I don't remember anything else. My mind wouldn't let me process anything other than how tasty it all was. Overall, I just don't see any reason to give this place anything less than 4-5 stars. I mean, it's not a "5-star Restaurant ", but it's a restaurant that should be given full credit for what it does. I paid about $50 for two appetizers, two drinks, and two entrees. Granted, I did have a voucher for a free entree and a coupon that I used together, but it's worth it to have the food at least once, especially with their complimentary bread and sauces. My wife and I were on our way home and we decided to try Bonefish Grill out based on the reviews from yelp. We were greeted at the door and asked if we had reservations? We didn't and we were seated at the center row of tables, the only ones seated in that area. It got busier and filled up a little later, but if you like a booth, make a reservation! We had the Edamame with sea salt and green tea for our appetizer, which was tasty. My wife had the Lobster Roll, which was ok and I ordered the seared Ahi Steak, which was very good. We were out doing some shopping in Algonquin Commons. I found Bone Fish as being close to where we were, so we decided to give it a shot. The appearance of the restaurant made me think that we were very underdressed; however, we saw several others dressed casually. The décor is very upscale, and there is a large bar area. The prices were slightly high, as one would expect from a seafood restaurant. Upon looking at the menu and considering the reviews, we ordered the crab cakes, the tuna sashimi, the bang bang shrimp, and the pecan crusted rainbow trout. The bang bang shrimp was the first to arrive at the table. It has to be one of the best shrimp dishes that I've ever had. The sauce and the seasoning were phenomenal! The arugula salad also added a wonderful contrasting texture. Next, came the crab cakes. They were a little softer than the average crab cake, but they were very good. There was plenty of crab, and the sauce that accompanied it paired will with it. It was a little spicy, which was great. The tuna sashimi was fairly good. The sauces went well with the tuna. I did find the sesame crust on the outside to be a little bit dry, but it did not ruin the dish. Finally, the rainbow trout arrived. I immediately noticed that it was slightly overcooked, but not terribly so. It did not have a pecan flavor at all; the crusting could easily have been bread crumbs. I found the seasoning and the sauce to be somewhat mild. The only thing that contrasted the pungent taste of the fish was the sporadic basil leaves on the top. I would not order this dish again; however, I would not call it bad. If you love the taste of rainbow trout, this is the dish for you, but it is a bit pricey. Our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was nice. We will definitely be returning, mainly for the bang bang shrimp. I would also highly recommend this place if you are a seafood fan. It is probably the best seafood available in the region, considering its land-locked condition. read more

We moved several years ago and don't get to Algonquin as often as we would like to. We visited Sat night and had an incredible time, as usual. The bartender was awesome. Our cocktails were made perfectly. We had 7:00 reservations and were seated by 7:10. We had a middle of the room table and everything was perfect. We ordered a Bang Bang shrimp appetizer and each ordered the seafood risotto special. Everything was cooked perfect and the food was delicious. Well where to start.......oh yeah. THEY WILL NO LONGER HAVE THE CRAB CORN CHOWDER... Corporate has redone the menu they added a porkchop at a fish restraunt added lobster bisque which was decent at best. Add removed the chowder. The food was very disappointing all the way around. Fish and chips were very greasy and my father had one piece that was under cooked. Kids meals were way overcooked and almost to hard to eat. Well their fries were good. I love this place because it's always a good experience. They really know how to cook a piece of fish. They execute it perfectly every time. I love that I can have seafood and my husband can have beef or chicken. We loved our server tonight (named Katie) and the entire staff is always so pleasant and hospitable. Another date night success! One tiny flaw... the vegetables that came as our side dishes were under salted, but that was an easy fix. I was told a good place to good for appetizers was Bonefish Grill. Having had a mediocre experience at best in another location, I was skeptical. I thought, what the heck, it's only appetizers, I'll give them a second chance. Glad I went with the flow as I was very pleasantly surprised. We had the Imperial Dip - which is a blend of shrimp, bay scallops, lump crab, Mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses, served with seasoned house-made tortilla chips. Very tasty. Not sure if it's because it was take out but the sirloin and crab cakes was a rip off. $20 entree for hardly any food. Only thing that tasted half way good was the garlic mashed potatoes. Great atmosphere and outstanding food. My husband and I decided to go to this location for dinner and we were afraid we would have to wait for a table. We were pleasantly surprised to be able to be seated right away. Our server was polite and attentive, and we never felt rushed. It was an enjoyable and relaxed atmosphere that we both really enjoyed. Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer was a no-brainer for us, and it came out super fast and was hot and delicious. I chose the Atlantic Salmon with the Asian Pan sauce for my entree, and I am so glad that I did because it was absolutely perfect in every way. It is a new favorite for me. The only thing my husband said was that he felt his shrimp in his entree was a little overcooked, but it was nothing so bad that he felt he needed to complain. Pro Tip: If you are a member of Costco, you can purchase $100 gift card packs (four $25 cards) for $80 at Costco. What I liked: *Complimentary bread and herb pesto. The waiter offered to refill the bread. Twice! I'd give this place 5 stars just for that. *Wait staff was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without being annoying. *The Bang Bang Shrimp is deservedly popular. It was a great sharable for our table of 4. *Portion sizes were not overwhelmingly large. That might be a negative for some, but I don't want leftovers and I don't want to eat so much that I'm uncomfortable. *I had an issue* with my meal and they took care of it right away. The managing partner even stopped by to apologize and offer a complimentary soup or salad while I waited. *Atmosphere is dark and quiet and it's easy to have a conversation. Other notes: *The sides weren't anything special - clearly the focus is on the mains. *My wife ordered the Atlantic Salmon with herb pesto and I thought it was the best entree of all that we ordered. *Deserts were good. We got the donuts and the chocolate creme brûlée. *I had an issue with my meal. I ordered the Ahi Tuna steak cooked pan seared rare. When it arrived, it was obviously fully cooked through. I pointed it out to the wait and without a work he took it back. A few moments later the manager came over and apologized, offered some free food (which I declined because who can eat all of that). The waiter returned very promptly with my sides so I could have something to munch on and in about 5 total minutes I was served a perfectly cooked tuna steak with a fresh load of sides. My husband and I visited The Bonefish Grill in Algonquin last Saturday to celebrate our anniversary. It was very crowded (many families celebrating Mother's Day) , but we got a nice table for two all the way in the back. Laura was our server and she couldn't have been any nicer.
