On August 23, 2026, at approximately 12:00 p.m., my colleague and I visited one of my favorite restaurants, Bonefish Grill (#9411). I have always enjoyed dining at this location. The food is consistently high quality, made to order, generously portioned, and offered at an excellent price point. Equally impressive is the service--the staff consistently makes guests feel welcomed, appreciated, and valued. On this particular visit, however, I experienced an issue with my meal. I ordered the Butterfish, one of my favorite dishes, but unfortunately, it arrived cold. I brought the matter to the attention of our server, Mo, who immediately took action to resolve the situation. What happened next is the real reason I am writing this review. The Culinary Manager, Mr. Thomas Johnson, personally delivered the corrected meal to our table and offered a genuine and sincere apology. He explained that he takes full responsibility for the quality of the food served in his restaurant and acknowledged that my meal should never have been served that way. He also assured us that it would not happen again. What impressed me most was Mr. Johnson's willingness to take complete ownership of the situation. He could have simply allowed our server to return the corrected dish with an apology and considered the matter resolved. Instead, he personally came to our table, addressed the issue, apologized, and ensured that we were completely satisfied. He also graciously removed the dish from our bill and provided us with a coupon for a complimentary appetizer on our next visit. WOW! The purpose of this review is not to highlight a mistake--mistakes happen in every restaurant and every business. What distinguishes an exceptional organization is how its leaders respond when something goes wrong. Mr. Johnson's response was an outstanding example of leadership, accountability, service recovery, and genuine customer care. Mr. Johnson did not make excuses, shift responsibility, or leave the situation for someone else to handle. He owned it, corrected it, and went above and beyond to restore our confidence and ensure our satisfaction. That is leadership. Mr. Johnson exemplifies the level of customer service, professionalism, accountability, and compassion that is too often missing in today's service industry. I was already a loyal Bonefish Grill customer; after this experience, I am a lifelong customer! I sincerely hope the executive leadership team at Bonefish Grill sees this review and recognizes Mr. Thomas Johnson for his outstanding leadership and commitment to the customer experience. They closed down my local Bonefish, so when I saw this one, I got excited. The location in Southlake Texas was one of our favorite stops for happy hour. It was also one of the Dad approved places when he visited. I am sad it is gone. I stopped in for happy hour and sat at the bar. They took their wine options off the HH menu, so I branched out and tried one of their specialty cocktails, a coconut crush. It was very pretty, but I didn't get a lot of coconut off of it. It mostly tasted like pineapple to me, and was very sweet. I also ordered the Ahi tuna wontons. THIS was why I was here and I was excited. A few minutes later, I was told they were out. At that point, I just decided to go back to my original dinner plans and called it a day, here. The service was just ok. The drink was ok. Being out of my favorite appetizer was a bummer. Came here while in town for the CIAA football championship. It was my first time actually staying in Durham. I stayed at a hotel that was in walking distance to Bonefish. So as soon as it opened i was there. My friends and i were one of 3 tables in there. Our waiter Eric was great. Made some suggestions like the cauliflower omg it was so good! I do not like steamed cauliflower or even raw cauliflower. But this made me order to go lol. The chowder was good with crab meat on top. The crab cakes were mainly filling and i forgot this being from MD i rarely order crab cakes outside of my home area. My friend got the espresso martini which was filling and she definitely enjoyed. This is my second or third time eating at the Bonefish Grill. We you walk in you walk to the host/Hostess podium you either get a waiting time or let them know you have a reservation. I personally just go to the bar if it's just me or someone else with me to be served immediately. The customer service have been great since my very first visit here but the manager made things right and I have no complaints whatsoever. The food is amazing here. I ordered the signature pasta with shrimp. It come with bread as well. I also ordered Bang Bang shrimp appetizer which is so crispy and delicious. I've ordered filet and shrimp dinner which come with 2 signature sides are you can upgrade to the premium sides for $4 more which is so worth it. I got the creamy risotto and the glazed Brussels sprouts. The desserts I've tried here were the lava cake and the chocolate creme brulee. The desserts change up frequently so you'll never have the same thing. I highly recommend this place. This is a definite go to for me when I am in the area. SYOY! :) read more

This was our first time eating at this restaurant. The waiter took our order and brought our drinks. He brought the soup, then salad. The soup was good. The salad was terrible. It was the regular side salad. The lettuce was getting old and brown. The heats of palm had a very strong vinegar taste. It was so strong, it upset our stomachs. We picked all of the bad pieces of lettuce out and put it on a plate with the rest of the hearts of palm. We told our waiter about it and he told us that whoever did them must not have tasted it and it was too strong, he would let the kitchen know. Normally, the manager would come to the table to inquire, but nobody came to the table. We ate some of our meal, but we had to take it with us because our stomachs were upset. Granted, it's been a little while since I've been to Bonefish Grill. I recall loving the imperial crab dip. Not so much tonight. Chips were broken, heavily seasoned, very bitter to taste. The dip was inconsistently warm, with the scallops and half the shrimp being cold to the touch. Clearly it sat under the heater and the assumption was made the burned cheese was considered a cooked dish. There was some red redemption with the fish and chips... until all of the greasy fish on top of the fries turn them to a macerated and oily mess at the bottom of the plate. Service was OK. Nothing to write Home about. Not her fault about the quality of food, but definitely wouldn't be a bad idea to check the quality before putting it on the table. After getting g food, signaled waiter over less than a fourth of the way through our food. Asked for boxes so we could pack up our food to take home. We had gotten tired of fighting flies that were constantly landing on our food. The waiter was apologetic. Last night I was very disappointed in my meal . My dolphin fish ( not the mammal ) was overcooked to the point it was indistinguishable from fried chicken. The portion size was 1/2 to 1/3 the size of what I would consider to be normal . I have caught and cleaned this fish . A dolphin filet is normally twice the thickness of what I received . I had a cup of the corn and crab chowder that was just okay. Lots of corn, even more potatoes, and very little crab, plus a very thick broth. My wife and I dined here for our Valentine Day date, but a few days later, to avoid crowds. As always, the Bang-Bang Shrimp was on spot and a one-item wonder! The fried shrimp was piled wonderfully high on a completely submerged (not even visible) bed of delightfully fresh, crisp shredded romaine lettuce. My wife and I both ordered one of these appetizers each for each of us. To follow up, we ordered as our entree the "fish and chips." That, on the other hand, was far less than spectacular. Don't get me wrong: the presentation was well done--it was an attractive dish, on its surface! That said, I suppose, if (what seemed to be) one-inch-plus of thickly breaded dough batter (not corn meal) hiding comparatively small strips of fish inside these three pieces of fried fish, along with a very small (albeit quite yummy) portion of fries is your thing, then this is perhaps a winner. However, my wife and I do not at all favor breaded fish; but prefer cornmeal or nothing. Why I did not think to ask which way this fish was fried before ordering it, I am not sure--but I sure wish I had. I suppose that, with typical "Fish & Chips," this method of flour battering is no doubt more common than that of using corn meal. Still, honestly, this dish was overkill on the batter: it looked nice, but tasted less than such, to us, anyway. Thus, we were both disappointed with this entree; and wish we had ordered nothing but the Bang-Bang Shrimp, period. Now, that said, there was nothing at all wrong with the food, any of the items, or the service. All of the items were aesthetically arranged, and quality food. The fish was very fresh tasting. Of course, the shrimp was delectably crisp and hauntingly delicious! Overall, this was a delightful meal! However, if "Fish & Chips" is your inclination, be sure to decide which type of breading you prefer on your fish--and be ready for seemingly far more batter than actual fish. If you like that type and degree of batter, you might be in for quite a delight. As for the Bang-Bang Shrimp, I do not see how you could go wrong, no matter your tastes! My wife and I came here for date night, but, the lackluster experience really left a bad taste in our mouths. I'm not sure what we expected from a chain restaurant, but that's what we got. The best part of the meal truly was the fresh bread and dipping oil. Our drinks were a let down. My old fashion fell flat. I wanted to have a stiff drink and felt like I just got stiffed, while the sangria was super sugary. Probably had a trainee at the bar. Needless to say, this place isn't worth dropping $85 for a meal! How is the mac and cheese a premium side??? There was nothing premium about it. There was just a sprinkling of bacon on it. My father and I went to Bonefish Grill for dinner after a long day at Pinehurst Golf course for the U.S. Open. Dad had a gift card to use, so that was the deciding factor. We arrived around 9:30 pm, which was late, and the restaurant was not that busy. We were seated, and our server Eric, greeted us a few minutes later and took our drink order. It appeared that Eric was the closing server for the night, because he was busy with other tables, and it took him 15-20 minutes for him to bring us our drink order. It was a good portion for two people to share. I ordered the Parmesan-crusted Rainbow Trout with steamed broccoli and garlic whipped potatoes for my entree. My father ordered the Cod Delight entree. We loved them very much! The rainbow trout was cooked to perfection. My father loved his cod delight. Eric did forget to bring us bread in the beginning of service, so I had to ask for bread. He did bring it within a few minutes. The ambiance is beautiful and gorgeous with very attractive lighting and colors throughout the restaurant. Overall, the dining experience was good, but the service was lacking a little bit from Eric, but he was busy with other tables, so I can understand his situation. Slow service and average food. It wasn't too busy, since we ate a late dinner on a weekday. But they were short staffed and disorganized with the assistant system. My main waitress told us 3 times that she asked her "assistant" to bring us bread, but he kept forgetting I guess. My waitress was also bartending as well, which props to her because I felt bad for her running back and forth and all over the place. We got the bang bang shrimp for starters which had a pretty good flavor. For entrees, I got the salmon with broccoli and coleslaw, but they apparently forgot my coleslaw and just gave me broccoli. We've enjoyed the Bonefish franchise for years in Charlotte. Today we ate in Durham. Like everything else, the prices were noticeably higher and goodies noticeably less. Bang bang shrimp was very good and as expected. I had the Bonefish House Salad with scallops instead of shrimp. Last time I had it there were three hearts of palm stalks, now only two slices. And a couple of olives and tomatoes. The dressing is still yummy light and flavorful. My husband got the Bonefish pasta special which sounded good, but was pretty blah in flavor. I like that Bonefish has their employees wear the chefs' jackets but for the love of God, clean and press them for the employees. Our server's jacket was filthy. That, with the piercings, was a bit hard to swallow. He brought our dinners out before we'd even started our appetizers which made us feel a bit rushed. I had the Linguine del Mar special. That was good but not quite as tasty as I hoped. We shared risotto and potatoes au gratin. All items come with bacon and breakfast potatoes. First the service was 5/5. I ordered the Grand Marnier French Toast Sticks. I should have tasted them before adding syrup. They were very sweet...so sweet I couldn't eat them. I also expect cinnamon in French Toast which I didn't taste any. Potatoes were great; crispy, hot, good flavor. My plate was missing bacon. 4/5 However, my friend got bacon on his plate. He ordered the Crab and Fontina Cheese Frittata. It's an egg soufflé with cheese and lump crab meat on top and inside. 5/5 Bloody Mary's and an Expresso Martini are offered by the glass. Mimosas by the glass or you can get a bottle of Prosecco with a carafe of orange juice. Shareable pitchers of Sangria and Margaritas that the menus says has 3 cocktails per pitcher are also available. There was the option to order from the regular menu but we came for Brunch. It was hard not to order the Bang Bang Shrimp though. I was still hungry only eating bacon (which I did get eventually) and potatoes. Limited hot tea options also. I am extremely optimistic Bonefish will improve on the Brunch menu. I strongly recommend giving them a try. I'll be back when they add more Brunch items or I'll order from main menu. This chain has gone way down hill. I genuinely enjoyed bonefish experiences in the past but the last 3 or 4 visits have been way below average on both food and service. I stopped in around noon for lunch last week and sat at the bar which typically gets fast/friendly service. Bang bang shrimp is the standard for bonefish appetizer now that they have completely removed the seared tuna app. Unfortunately all the breading was falling off and just not like it used to be. The salad I ordered was fine but came out 10 minutes after the shrimp even though they were ordered together. Bartender was friendly but non-existent when I was ready to pay before getting to my next meeting. Overall the experience does not make me want to go back. read more
