It came with the wrong dressing at first, but since it was on the side it was an easy fix. My salad was just ok. My husband had the bison burger and said it was excellent. Food was okay, my steak was over cooked for medium-well which was pretty disappointing. Service was not much better, I had a waitress , and mind you not to be that person but we were the only African American group in there and we had a Caucasian woman named Alissa as our waiter. You can kind of tell she didn't want to deal with us and kept asking if we needed help with the menu and it was with a attitude. She then sent out a African American waitress to let us know the card declined which I felt was wrong and uncomfortable. I found out that it was because the separate meals at the table we were paying for , she charged the cards wrong then tried to complain how complicated it would be to reverse but we insisted. In Durham for the weekend, a million places to eat we typically don't go out of our way for chain restaurants when traveling but being that we had never tried Ted's why not right ! First you have your steakhouse charm and I'm okay with that . Service top notch never an empty glass but not over done. The manager brought the O-rings out and said you haven't had them until you've had these and let me tell you did not disappoint whole sweet rings great batter perfect fry and a horseradish dipping sauce. Ted's Montana grill always good steak specials. Tonight's was Delmonico steak with wedge salad and a side of asparagus. The steak was delicious done to medium with a beautiful pink warm center. The wedge salad was very fresh very crispy the way I like the wedge salad to be. It had a nice crunchy texture and plenty of bacon bits and blue cheese crumbs. The asparagus was grilled and served with a touch of garlic and olive oil. Our server was prompt and friendly with out being intrusive. Our granddaughter had Ted's famous grilled cheese. She devoured the entire sandwich along with her fries. We ordered a side of the delicious onion rings for an appetizer. The granddaughter entertained us with her run down on school today. Three of us came here for dinner on a Sunday night. We called ahead to get " in the cue" and still had to wait quite a while for a table. There were empty tables but we determined there was not enough wait staff. After we were seated we had another long wait for someone to come to our table. The waiter who finally came barely spoke and never once smiled or was pleasant. I asked for the usual cucumbers they give and was told they ran out. About 45 minutes later he came carrying 3 bowls and said everyone was asking for them! Our food arrived in a decent amount of time. We started with bison nachos that were just ok. We all got bison burgers . Sides were onion rings and fries. We ordered an extra side of broccoli but never got it. All the burgers were good and the onion rings were huge. We had to ask twice for the mustard, ketchup etc. This is the only place we know that has bison and we have been here many times. This is the first time we have had bad service. He took the time to explain everything to us and told us what people ordered a lot of because it was our first time there. I've not been here in a while so thought I'd stop in. Sat at the bar (my usual) and Katie immediately s jerked over to get me settled in. She asked my name and never missed calling me by it. I knew I wanted the slider plate, but let her guide my cocktail selection. All I said was "not a fan of whiskey.) She recommended their house marg, since they make their own syrup in-house. It was solid, and of course went perfectly with the sliders & rings. Since my last visit, they've added WiFi, so I could sit at the bar and update articles between chats with Katie and huge mouthfuls of food. After the marg, I asked for another recommendation, and she suggested the Paloma. I make mine with Fresca, but theirs are made with Fever Tree grapefruit. It was good, but I'm a little heavier with my spirit pours than she is. This was very precise. Tasty but not a lot of kick. The decor of the place is semi rustic (I mean, the buffalo head is still there!) and the soundtrack went from Darius Rucker to Linda Ronstadt to John Denver, so if you didn't like a song, you'll love the next one. The music is very, very subdued, which makes for good conversation. I need to come here more often. And maybe try more of the menu. It all looks good, but I go here when I'm craving sliders. I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience at Ted's Montana Grill! This restaurant was recommended to me by my Lyft driver earlier in the day. From the moment I walked through the door I was greeted with hospitality and care. They weren't busy when I arrived, late (around 8pm on a weeknight). They promptly brought over some complimentary pickles. I ordered the balsamic blue salad with steak for $20. It was a generous sized salad with a good amount of sliced steak. It wasn't the most tender steak I've had, but it was tasty and hit the spot. The salad had iceberg, romaine, spring mix, cucumbers, tomatoes, very good bacon and crunchy onion straws. The first impression wasn't the best as the host stand was vacant and it took a good 4-5 minutes for someone to come and seat us. It was around 7:30 on a Monday night, so the restaurant wasn't exactly slammed. But I've been a Ted's fan for years and I wanted to try this location now that I'm living in the Triangle. I always love that the bowl of complimentary thick cut pickles is brought to the table. I ordered the Avalon bison burger, cooked medium, and it was done perfectly. It was topped with a bacon onion jam, Gruyere cheese, garlic aioli, and arugula (I omitted the bleu cheese). A little messy, but hey, ain't nothing wrong with that. I got the mix of fries and rings for my side. I like how thick the onion rings are cut and also that they come seasoned with salt and pepper in the batter. Fries needed a little more salt and pepper, but still very good. On my recommendation, my friend had the bison chili. With a side salad, it was $18, which seemed a little extreme. But she enjoyed the food very much. The server did a good job at keeping our beverage glasses refilled and was patient when my friend had to retreat to her car to find a credit card. The rings were worth the visit alone, with the "horsey sauce" on the side, and the garlic mashed a close second. The burgers were very good, prepared as requested, with fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions along side. For a pretty empty restaurant about an hour before closing, the service was on the inattentive side. Looking forward next visit to doing a side-by-side comparison of bison vs beef on their menu. Never tried bison but I like it (from here anyway)! I could tell it was slow cooked and had been marinated as the flavors were amazing and it was very tender. Our broccoli and mashed potatoes came out cold, even when we sent it back though. I wish there were two crab cakes to share but it was delicious nonetheless. I ordered my food at 2:55 pm. At 3:30 my server comes back and asks me what I ordered. He offered an apology and a quick turn around. We sat in a booth and the booth and the floor around it are actually quite nasty and haven't been cleaned in a while. What prompted this review however was the longest hair ever in my food. I don't do hair. We told our waitress and although it certainly wasn't her fault she was contrite. Said she would tell her manager and that's the last we heard about it. Never saw or heard from manager and we paid our full boat for the dinner. Couldn't finish our meal due to being grossed out. Won't be going back again. Consistently Disappointing, Profuse Apologies don't really compensate for poor food and slow service. We had. 6:45 RESERVATION, waited 30 minutes to be seated, over an hour to get entrees. The most expensive steak on the menu, $39 Delmonico Bison was 50% FAT & GRISTLE. Sorry to gross you out but consumers should be forewarned of SLOW KITCHEN and UNACCEPTABLE STEAK QUALITY. Server was excellent ! She was cheerful, articulate, and seemed practiced at PROFUSE APOLOGIES for the long wait and tough fatty steak. If the kitchen is that backed up the restaurant should inform the customer up front, not expect 1.5 hours WAITING time, letting the customer make the choice to go elsewhere. If the restaurant is understaffed and behind because their priority is a '20 Top' the customer should be informed, NOT LEFT HANGING. NOT the first time for poor service and mediocre food at this particular Ted's. We've had good experiences at other Ted's. Notice: I NEVER USE INFLAMMATORY OR RUDE LANGUAGE when I take time to write a REVIEW. I just state easily observable and verifiable facts and sometimes photographs (sorry for gross unchewable meat pics) 1/2 Star because of nice hardworking server. Kept us informed reasonably well, she can't control kitchen after all. We always go to Ted's for their "burger salad". Or meat loaf with mashed potatoes and roasted broccoli. Always reliable and good service. The atmosphere is casual but staff make it feel a bit classy. Full bar and nice bar makes for a lovely drinks and appetizer with friend or colleague. Booths offer intimacy too. Fits lots of occasions. I ate here a few weeks ago with family, when we were in Durham to visit Duke Medical Center. The restaurant is in a nice shopping center, and the decor and vibe of the restaurant are really nice. Food was excellent - I had the Big Sky grilled chicken salad, and the other members of our party had Bison Meatloaf dinner and Ted's Bacon Cheeseburger. My only complaint was that service was really, really slow every step of the way. Slow to get drinks, slow to take our order, slow to get our food, and slow to get our check. I think we'll give Ted's another try when we visit Durham again. It may just have been an off day for our particular server. read more

My burger was medium well. Waiter offered to replace, but given the original delay, and fact that u was quite hungry, I decided just to keep it. The 50% onion tings-50% French fries were only 30% onion rings. They were not freshly cooked. Leftover from lunch & refried. Hard & overdone. Crust was too crusty to eat. On the other hand, the wife's salmon, while not outstanding, was OK. I'm nearby often for work and after putting in my day, it's always nice to stop into Teds for a fine meal. They are always consistent and have a great group of staff they always provide exemplary service and delightful meals. I typically start with the crab cakes that are real lump crab, a guacamole that I'm not a fan of , bad t I do enjoy the kale salad. I love me some Buffalo meat and the filet is always cooked exactly as ordered. If you like onion rings give them a shot, they are huge and perfectly seasoned! I also found my bison ribeye excellent, as good as traditional beef yet always happy to eat bison as it has fewer calories. Also had a very nice flavour. I found the onion rings a little disappointing, too breaded and not enough flavour. The problem with this location, and why I may not return, was cleanliness. The air vents were covered in mood, once we noticed it, we found it difficult to focus on the food. Not just one vent, all. Not just a little mold, it was gross.
