the first thing I have to mention is that when I arrived through the revolving door the hostess wanted to seat us at the booth closest to the door, even though there were multiple tables in the other room. I thought that was a bit odd, regardless of their reasoning for doing so. our waitress was very friendly but incredibly absent-minded. she forgot bread, never filled up our water and brought the wrong portion sizes for two of the meals. the appetizer (bang bang shrimp) was great, as was the sea bass with mango salsa. overall, everything was good but I wouldn't rush back. My wife and I met friends at Bonefish grill tonite for dinner. We were looking forward to a great evening. Our reservation was for 6:15 pm and we were right on time. The hostess who seated us appeared to have an "attitude" from the beginning. We didn't know which person standing around at the desk was our hostess. She finally made herself known and did the head shake, or eye roll, as we followed her to "our" table, set for four and ready. Our dining partners did not wanted to be seated in front of the restrooms in the corner and we made it known this was not acceptable. The hostess said it was our table and made no attempt to seat us elsewhere, however there was another table available that was suitable...away from the corner and restroom entrance. This hostess clearly was put out and did not want to provide even the minimum of a warm and friendly experience. She said we'd have to get back in the reservation line. I then said we were not going to stay and walked toward exit To leave. We passed the hostess desk and another woman who apparently "assigns" tables attempted to reseat us after learning of our disappointment. A very minimum effort...not friendly. We were then seated elsewhere and ordered dinner. I will say the meal was served a bit later and it was delightful! All our dinners were good and we spent the remaining time enjoying ourselves. Too bad our initial seating experience was very disappointing. Food, wine, atmosphere deserves the full five stars. Hostess service hardly deserves even three stars. read more

I don't know how many times I've been to Bonefish and every visit has been a pleasant one. last night, my wife had the Chilean Sea Bass and I had the Alaskan Cod. Both were very nice but the Sea Bass was awesome. It was cooked to perfection (slightly rare) where it melted in your mouth like butter. Jeremy was our waiter and it was he who recommended the sea bass. He exhibited an in depth knowledge of the menu and the wines. Great job! read more

You go to this place totally for the food and nothing else. I had grilled seabass, lobster tail, scallop, and salad. It's amazing that they have fresh seafood here! Tasted awesome. But if you want to have a romantic date or a dressed-up dinner, this is a wrong place. I was turned off by their use of paper as table sheet! Yes! No (good) comments on that. I've been wanting to eat at the Bonefish Grill for a while. Me and my family finally decided to go. We arrive on Saturday 3/16/19 and were greeted with friendly staff and our waiter, Percy, was flippin fantastic!! The food was reasonably priced and very delicious. Very disappointed. We arrived on a Sunday for lunch and waited an hour after our order was taken before it our meal finally arrived. We asked to speak to a manager and were told one would come by but no one ever did. At one point our server stopped at our table and told us that our meal would be just a few more minutes. But twenty minutes passed and she never came to our table again. When the food did arrive, it was excellent. Hence, the second star. But I've experienced better. Went there for a coupon special on three choices of entrees: Baja Fish Tacos, Fish and Chips, or Bang Bang Shrimp Tacos...went with Baja and the Arctic Char entree. Both were excellent. The arctic char, which I've never had, was seasonal and described well by our server, so I tried it. It's a great meal. Fish was prepared well--flaky, moist, seared and delicious. I wasn't a fan of the side, but I could've swapped it, so my fault there. The baja tacos were also very good, three sizable tacos, good portions of fish in each, and delicious too. I would recommend having the mango salsa on the side rather than served as is, because it's strong and can overpower the other flavors in the taco. All in all, great meals and the price (especially after the coupon) was definitely affordable. Service was also solid--he was friendly, knowledgeable, and on point with the table. While the food itself was delicious, I would beg two things of management: First Scharr dinner rolls can be kept in your freezer/fridge. In 2021 there is no excuse for not having a gf bread option. Second, educate your wait staff! When we said we were Celiac and our waitress still adked us if we wanted biscuits, you look like fools. We were in on a Thursday night at 7:30. Not overly busy. The service seemed very slow, bringing drinks, refilling water glasses, never offered another drink, taking dishes long finished away, etc. The atmosphere was very good even sitting in front of the doorway to the kitchen. The scallop and shrimp combination was very good. The signature Opah dish, nor so much. The crab topping was mayonaissy and the sauce drizzled over top tasted like Big Mac secret sauce and very greasy.ugh. Noone at the table was pleased. Wow! We were incredibly satisfied with the flavors and the service. I had a smoked Mahi Mahi and my fiance had the Scallops & Shrimp. Both were cooked perfectly and the Garlic Mashed Potatoes were better than Grandma's! To top of the excellent food, the staff was incredible. Great place for seafood in KC. I went here on a Sunday for their brunch. This happened to be the same Sunday as the big game. My girlfriend and I started with an appetizer of the Cod sliders which were part of their all day happy hour that day. The sliders were cooked just right and the little bun they came on was as fresh as could be. The slider was full of flavor and a must try when you stop in. Then as a main course I had the tuna steak and eggs and it did not disappoint as it was cooked to perfection and had a slight smoky flavor that was just right and not overpowering. This was a special day for my girlfriend as it was her birthday and she had the filet and lobster eggs Benedict which was amazing as she let me try her breakfast. The manager was great as was our server and they both wished her a happy birthday. The manager came over with a hand written birthday card and a small box of truffles with a card for free bang bang shrimp on our next visit. For two consecutive years, I've been among a party of eight to attend an extravaganza meal that this restaurant offered for a fundraising auction. In other words, our entire group so much enjoyed our first experience that we bid - and won - the item a second time! Our abundant meal included a sampling of all the signature items and many others; the quality of food and the service was every bit as good as we anticipated. But I'm posting this review for one reason. As a non-drinker, I feel compelled to to mention how meaningful it was for this restaurant to offer a respectable alternative to NA beer or a soft drink. Seriously, how hard is it for someone in the creature comfort business to recognize our human desire to feel included? Toasting dinner mates with my glass of "Blackberry Smash" (delicious by the way) was so much more dignified than a boring club soda or soft drink. One would think this isn't rocket science yet even today, offering an alternative remains uncommon in even among the most so-called upscale eateries. Good show Bonefish Grill! We ordered Easter dinner from the Leawood Bonefish, which was advertised as Mahi,Mahi, shrimp, bacon macaroni & cheese, Caesar salad, bread & dessert. I added an order of Bang Bang shrimp to this, to be picked up. Here's what we got: Salmon, scallops, broccoli, mashed potatoes & dessert. We don't like salmon, the scallops were fine, the broccoli was barely edible, the mashed potatoes were the best thing on the plate. I realize these are extraordinarily times, but I never would have ordered this meal had I known what I was getting. I'm not a big complainer, but I was very disappointed in this meal. This restaurant is one of our favorites. We have never had a bad experience here. It is always very crowded so wait times should be expected, but there is room to sit and stand by the very large and nice looking bar. Well what can I say. We made reservations so we were seated promptly. Our waitress was attentive, knowledgeable and quick. That was the best of our visit & the reason for the 2 star rating. I wasn't pleased with white construction paper has a place setting however I quickly got over that. The bang bang shrimp...a overly sauced, crust falling off mess!!! It taste like French dressing was poured over it and served. MY OPINION the crust is the most important part of the dish. Parker Patron Margarita...only order this is you want frozen flavored water, because thats exactly what I got. When the waitress asked did I want it replaced I told her no but she insisted and brings another one and dog gone it, it to taste the exact same. I'm not a big drinker but when I do have a drink, it's always something girly, fruity and refreshing. If I say it taste like water, something is truly wrong. Both times they got it wrong and had the audacity to charge me for it. The Pad Thai Shrimp...crunchy...why are the noodles crunchy??? Smh! At that point I was done and thereafter any time the waitress asked how we're done, i nodded my head and said ok...What's the point of pointing it out again, the meal from beginning to end was not worth the $130 spent. I had the Kobe burger (a must try once) and it was definitely on near the top of best I ever had and around $13 dollars it would be one of the best deals on their menu. I was there last week for a Linking Professionals Womens luncheon to benefit SafeHome. First, I ran into sitter issues and was going to have to cancel, but the owner of the Bonefish Grill along with the Diva hosting the event were more than accomadating regarding my preschooler. Needless to say he tagged along and was excited to see the ins and outs of a restaraunt prior to opening for business. The owner went above and beyond making my preschooler comfortable and allowing him to tag along and answering the many questions a curious preschooler has. On top of that, I had the tilapia filet with the marmalade, potatoes, and dessert. All of which were incredible. Most definately recommend. Most definately will go back. Bonefish had been our favorite restaurant. So naturally with COVID-19 we wanted to find a way to support them by ordering takeout. Not a good experience... I tried to place my order by calling them from 4:30 to 5:30 on a Friday afternoon. No luck, either the phone was never answered, or answered, put on hold and forgotten. So I went there thinking it might be better. There was a short line, everyone keeping their distance outside. Determined to get my order in I called again, waited over 12 minutes on hold, and then a guy comes on and says "thanks for holding, we're too busy to take your order, please call back in 25 minutes, then hangs up on me!!!" Wow. So much for supporting your local restaurants. It will be a long, long time before I go back, if ever. read more
