Last week, two colleagues and I met at BoneFish Grill in north Tampa for dinner. Tia greeted us as our server for the night. It was a quiet evening. One of our colleagues expected the Bang Bang Wednesday night special. Tia wasn't familiar with the special. She had started working there less than a month ago and hadn't heard of it, but she gladly offered to check for us. Shortly, she returned to give us the news that the Bang Bang shrimp special is offered daily during Happy Hour now. We ended up ordering from The Land section of the menu. One person ordered Lily's Chicken, another ordered the Half-pound burger and I ordered Fontina Pork chop for the very first time. I asked her if it was possible to order the porkchop well done and tender at the same time. She gave a great big grin and said of course we can do that! And let me tell you, the chef nailed it! The chop was extremely tasty and tender even away from the bone. Thanks chef! Tia provided excellent service throughout the evening! She was very attentive, glancing at our table to anticipate our needs. We were really surprised that she had only worked there for such a short time. This is probably the first time I've sat at a restaurant since March ,before the quarantine and social distancing. I was very impressed by the protocols that they took to make sure all the patrons felt safe and the employees healthy. The tables were spaced out and they had obviously taken some furniture out inorder to space everything( I've eaten there a few times before ) . All the employees had masks on. Flipping Fantastic. To be completely honest I came here because they have an off the menu crème brûlée. IT is to die for!!. It isn't always on the menu... You must ask your wonderful server. We had Jake ... ( from Bonefish) We loved Jake.. he was terrific, on top of everything. The service was outstanding. We started with the Imperial Dip .. A blend of shrimp, scallops, crab in a cheesy delicious mixture that makes you want to lick the sizzling cast iron pot clean. I had the bang bang shrimp tacos comes with a set of 3. They were a kick to the taste buds and I loved every bit. My husband loved his Imperial Cod the broccoli was perfectly cooked with garlic butter drizzled on top and the mash potatoes were spoon licking good. My favorite thing as you can guess was the crème brûlée. The blackberries and the little bit of whipped Cream on top just made it even more enjoyable. Here's the story on the first Friday evening after we reopened in Florida. It was that weird time when the restaurants were kind of open but not dining out friendly yet due to all the stipulations of social distancing and you can eat out but not really vibe everywhere. It is kind of a frustrating time for dinners and restaurants alike. After attempting to dine at then striking out at a nearby Vietnamese restaurant (still take out only), we the Beans of four were irritated and needing a really good dining out experience. We saw Bone Fish Grille's outdoor set up from Dale Mabry, so we pulled in. They are ready and open, you guys! Not just the patio but also inside too! And socially distanced. All the staff were wearing masks and taking precautions. They had printed out menus and paper table clothes. Everything measured and spaced out with 'X'! We were immediately seated at a covered section of the patio and greeted with Delila. And let me tell you, Delila was a pure delight. She was warm, personable and so prompt and good with service. She gave us extra bread, condiments and kept us company. We ordered 2 kids meals and 2 entrees: his was rear sealed tuna entree and mine was the daily special if saucy shrimp with cheese, olives, sun dried tomatoes and, and..magic juice (secret chef ingredients)! Everything just went along better than the blended ingredients of smoothies on my bread. Oh and their bread! I didn't realize how much I missed well baked restaurant bread! They also gave housemate pesto for dipping. And I had to order hand crafted cocktails. I haven't had good ones since like my birthday in early March! Their pineapple martini had me dreaming of times when I used to live in Hawaii. Sweet, genuine, and breezy. Then I had my second cocktail, refreshing mango White Sangria which was lighter and less alch-y. Overall, Bonefish re-kindlef the long lost dining out experience by giving us the food, service and hospitality. This restaurant name like we need to eat like a cat and left the fish with bone and head. Fortunately, the chef is kind enough to fillet for all the customers. Personally, I like whole fish to eat and left only the bone. With that said, their brand is to have good seafood. I always have good respect for this restaurant. We start with corn chowder with lump crabmeat. The chowder is great. However I would suggest sautéed the crab meat which will make this soup more superior. Our entrée are the grilled red fish. This very good dish. It is not in the regular menu. Redfish is bit harder to catch. The meat definitely is nice and good. It is accompanied the string green bean and crawfish etouffee. This is very excellent dish. Our next entrée is sirloin and crab cake. I like the crab cake but the sirloin is average. It come with two side and I have crab fried rice. Again, the crab meat need to include in the fried rice while they stir fry. Not added with broil lumb crab meat. The service is great. It has seamless coordination. read more

We've gotten Bonefish a few times delivered during the shutdown, and one pickup. I highly recommend delivery over pickup. Each time we order, I get the family bundle of Bang Bang Shrimp tacos. The meal is a good portion, packaged nicely. The salad is good, but not cut with a ceramic knife, so don't think you can eat the lettuce or salad the next day, it goes brown. I enjoy the cookies that come with the bundle. I do say don't go for pickup because while there is a drive up window, the line to pick up can get very long. read more

Rating 4.5. All in all for a Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. we had an enjoyable experience. The restaurant was so busy that they alerted us to the fact that the kitchen was running behind. We've come to know Bonefish as always a consistent restaurant of good food, services and ambiance. We ordered the bang bang shrimp and the calamari for appetizers for the table of 4. Delicious. Everyones entree was enjoyed. One had the 7 oz sirloin and crab cake. Truly 7 oz steak so don't have much appetite One person ordered the the poke and crab cake appetizers for their meal and my wife had the Fontina Pork Tenderloin. That brings us to my meal which was the mahi-mahi and shrimp meal which was over-cooked. The shrimp were well overdone but it was still tasty and with the butter sauce I got through it. The food was really good. We both ordered the Tuna Poke bowl. I don't know why, but they had every customer sat on one side of the restaurant. There was another whole area near the bar area they could have sat people. Just felt really cramped. The drinks were good. We had the crushed pineapple martini, and the smoked old fashioned. We came here to try the new bar bites drink and food menu. During happy hour the menu includes beef sliders and fried codfish sliders, fried artichoke hearts, and a cheesy shrimp dip for 6 dollars. The new drinks such as coral reef punch, blueberry lemon drop, tropical tiki martini and raspberry vodka collins are also 6 dollars. All of these items were delicious. The servers were cordial and provided very good service. Of course you can order any item from the menu to have at the bar. So, last night my family and I went for dinner and decided to sit out on the patio as it was a beautiful night. No sooner than our bread was brought out, there was a raccoon in the parking lot. It proceeded to cone into the patio and climb onto the table next to us! I grabbed my kids and ran inside to tell a manager and no one came to see us... We were relocated to an inside table and when I finally flagged down a manager, she laughed it off saying they know it's a problem...WTF?! If you know get trappers! And to think that's ok while dining is inexcusable... I guess we will not be dining here again anytime soon... read more

Been there so many times but will never be back.A cook was tearing the place up aND cussing everyone out. I called the place and the " manager" Jason told me the guy had bipolar disorder and would never be there again. Zero tolerance for this behavior the managing partner who told me he was "the powers that be" said please come back because this won't happen again.i go there weekly with 4-6 people and this incident scared my female companions so bad I had to convince them to go back because I was assured by the managing partner Jason that it was fixed. Image my shock when I walked in and saw the same guy walking in and my guests looked at me like I had let them down and lied to them. If someone employed by this place is able to literally destroy the place e and cuss everyone out and doesn't lose their job we can't feel safe there. Jason is a liar and a horrible manager and to the point a decade long patron will find somewhere else to go and I will tell everyone I know to stay away from bonefish and any blooming brand company just to have a great dining experience. I tried the cod with the shrimp and crab stuffing with the lemon caper sauce. Normally I like all of these flavors but this just didn't work for me. I will need to stick with the Seabass. I've been invited severa times to come here and just have never made my way, but FINALLY and I'm so pleased! I'm planning my next trip already. The aura is very simple and elegant. Clean and sophisticated but not super formal -- my kind of vibe. The seating was a little close but not too close for comfort. The lighting was dim, which worked for the scenario. Parking was pretty easy. There is no shortage of parking. Parking is free (in case someone wants to know). I ordered the 6oz Salmon, whipped potatoes and broccoli -- omggg! I mean that was one of the best meals. Very simple meal, but trust me, it can get messed up. My favorite thing about my experience was the drinks! I ordered my favorite "French 75" -- and initially the bartender didn't know or remember how to make it, so I was nervous. But omggg it was perfect! Like perfect! I had 3 of them! Bonefish as a chain is pretty good. This location isn't a favorite, but I'm not opposed to coming in once every few months for a lunch or brunch, since it's not too far from me. I prefer the South Tampa location for the atmosphere although parking here is better. The atmosphere and lighting in this location seems unbonefish-like to me. Maybe I need to come for dinner to feel differently. There are a lot of choices on Dale Mabry and other bonefish locations if there's something you really want on the menu. By the way, I know everyone raves about the bang bang shrimp, but my favorite appetizer at bone is Saucy Shrimp. Try it. read more

I'm a little late on my review, I was there for Mother's Day. I have to start by saying this place really didn't take care of us and we were 14. Let start by saying our waiter was super nice and attentive. The part where was just not worth it. So we got our table and we had no cover on our table. As picture below. All the tables around us had their cover and dressed properly around us. So we couldn't put our utensils on the table cause we didn't know if the table was cleaned. We notified and they said "we had to combine tables we don't have a cover". Mind same amount of group by us and they did. Second: the utensils were dirty on some of them. The waiter was super nice and was very attentive like I said and went out of her way. She is the reason I'm giving this place a 3 and not lower. Food was good but some of the plates came cold. I had heard of Bonefish Grill from my mother. It's a go-to place for mature hang outs and date nights. I went with my boyfriend for date night on a Friday night. Since we were really hungry, we went during the earliest time for dinner. Let me tell you that it was the best time because within an hour after 5pm it started to get packed. We sat in a long booth that could fit 6 people. It was wonderfully roomy. Our server was friendly and attentive, enough for a nice dining experience. Our table was lined with brown paper, typical at seafood places. Since we were really hungry, I ordered two appetizers. Always order the special, so I opted for the Lobster stuffed shrimp and the POPULAR Bang bang shrimp. Both hit the spot. The lobster stuffed shrimp came with 4 pieces in a hot skillet. It was creamy, crunchy, and delicious. The bang bang shrimp was mixed with a spicy mayo sauce topped with scallions. I like to top it off with a little lemon to cut the richness. Since the server noted that they're a "wood-fired grill fresh fish daily" concept, we opted for their fish. I ordered the Atlantic salmon with mango salsa (on the side so I can taste the fish plain-delicious and perfectly seasoned with salt and pepper) with whipped garlic mashed potatoes and their seasonal veggie-butternut squash. The other was Rainbow trout with lemon butter (on the side-still very delicious) and whipped garlic mashed potatoes and butternut squash. Everything hit the spot and was delicious that we finished EVERYTHING. Had I saved room for dessert I would have opted for the pumpkin creme brulee because Fall makes me go crazy for pumpkin. I do not love chains, but if there is one that I do love it is Bonefish Grill! We like this location better than the one closer to us in Wesley Chapel. They were remodeled last year, & there is more light, & the decorations are nice and fresh. Their outside patio is much bigger too. That is often where we frequent since it is dog friendly. They have lots of shade and fans too. We came here so I can get my fave seasonal entree - swordfish with pumpkin ravioli with green beans. My hubby got the calamari. Both did not disappoint. Their drinks are always good too. Last time I ordered a pineapple martini. This time, I just drank lots of water. Our service is good and always helpful. They do not have their bar bites menu anymore. That stinks, but hopefully a new promo will be coming, & we can all try it. We will be back here sometime for sure! read more

Bonefish Grill is doing an excellent job with take-out orders during the COVID-19 pandemic. We were so happy with our recent take-out order! This was our first time ordering from Bonefish Grill. We've never eaten inside. I was craving ahi tuna and wanted to try a new place. Our food was packaged really well and nothing was missing. I asked for extra wasabi and they included it. We ordered the ahi tuna appetizer, shrimp and scallops meal, and fish and chips meal. Everything was delicious! We only had one minor complaint. The white rice was cooked with cilantro. I came here a week ago and looking back feeling thankful that I did before the restaurant social distancing. This is a great semi upscale place to eat that won't put too big of a dent into your savings account. I decided to go for simple yet tasty today and decided to get a lobster tail (single) with au gratin potatoes for the side (which I havent had in YEARS due to mostku picking mac n cheese) and asparagus for some tasty veggie nutrition. For my drink I had a ginger mint lemonade. First off, it was pretty hot out, so I was so greatful for the the refreshing cold drink. I was surprised how crisp and light the taste was of the lemonade, not at all heavy hitting with sugar or overwhelmingly sour. Probably the best lemonade I've ever had. Dinner came ratherbpromptly after. I enjoyed the sweet tender lobster tail that tasted fresh and detached easily from the shell. The asparagus was nuce and firm, well seasoned in butter so it was a good light, yet filling companion. I live lobster, but U have to admit that my favorite part of the meal was the su geatin potatoes that I saved last. Dense and cheesy, I almost thought it was mac and cheese! Believe it or not I have never been to bonefish grill before this visit. We got a gift card as a wedding gift and decided to have a date night. For starters, I recommend making a reservation or putting your name in for their call ahead system. On a Friday night, the wait was at least 90 minutes. Luckily I took my own advice and did just that. I put our name in before we left and by the time we got there our table was about ready. The restaurant was very crowded even with the seating outside. The drive through was busy as well. This is a very high traffic restaurant. The dining room is pretty crowded if your not at a booth. With all the traffic, you would think they would expand the restaurant. The service was a little slow. It took a very long time to get our food. I tried their signature drink in the meantime. Their martini. It was very sweet and flavorful. For my meal choice, I got the salmon with jasmine rice and a salad. You can order it different ways and I opted for Asian style. It is a generous portion, and I didn't break my diet. Many people seem to like the bang bang shrimp. I didn't order it, because my husband can't eat shrimp.
