Well this review fell apart before it ever had a chance of beginning. A friend and myself walked into Bonfire on a Sunday night with plenty of open seats inside, at the bar, and outside. The friendly hostess let us self-seat at the bar outside. After initially being greeted by the not overly busy bartender and given menus, the entire 4th quarter of the Giants-Cowboys game played out and finished without her ever returning to take a drink or food order (20+ minutes). We then left and headed down the road to Colony where they actually understand service. It's a shame too since the rave reviews on here made Bonfire sound quite appetizing. read more

Hands down the best restaurant Iv'e been to in awhile. The foods are amazing. We literally cleaned our plates of. Hahaha. Our hostess and staff where super nice and helpful. Went today for lunch around 1:30pm. We didn't get out of there until almost 3:45. Food was awesome! Service was slow. Overheard server saying they were short staffed and another apologizing profusely as their kitchen and bar was behind on orders. Chicken nachos were delish! If you don't like sour cream ask for it on the side as it's loaded! Same with jalopenosz Kids chicken fingers and fries. His fries were over salted in comparison two others had fries not anywhere close with salt. Guacamole Burger my daughter loved! She said it was really good Fish tacos were great fresh and love they aren't fried. Park wings lacked flavor on some of them they just tasted like fried wing. Some tasted like garlic and parm. Margarita was on the weak side but tasty. Service was really lacking. Server came back not once to apologize for the delay or explain or refill drinks. Between nachos and our main cours we had about an hour...when she came back she only brought one refill for one person. Had to patiently wait h til almost after meal was done for a refill. Asked for napkins for the nachos and had to wait u til we were leaving to get them. Mainly to clean up the table. After having many wonderful meals at their other restaurant across town, my wife and I were anxious to give this one a try. We got there just at 11:30 AM and we were greeted by the waitstaff and shown to a table. Our sever was Megan, she was very friendly and attentive to us. After seeing the menu online beforehand, we both knew that we wanted the Soft Shell Crab "Po Boy" sandwiches. They were delicious, with a very large, breaded crab on a bed of shredded lettuce with remoulade sauce and a tomato slice. This was presented on a fresh Brioche roll. An added bonus was the fabulous baskets of fries that were served alongside the sandwiches. I've never had fries like this before, it's as if they were thin slices from a steak fry but somehow they were also puffy. Very unusual and quite delicious. read more

I met here with friends for lunch and everyone enjoyed what they had. I had the fish and chips - the chips were pretty extraordinary but the fish, while well cooked and fresh, was lacking flavor. The lettuce wrapped tacos looked amazing and the people who had them enjoyed them very much. Took my grandma here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Wanted to sit outside, they have a walled patio, but not all the tables have an umbrella so we would have been baking in the sun. Opted for an inside booth. Host was nice about our indecision. Place was about 1/4 full. We both got Jalapeño margaritas which were a little watered down. My grandma got the soft shell crab sandwich which was huge. She enjoyed it. I got the southwestern corn bowl and wasn't super impressed. The corn tasted like it was reheated from frozen (kind of chewy), the grilled chicken on top was also kind of rubbery, and the jalapeños were super spicy (all the seeds left in). Loving this new addition to the neighborhood! I have been twice now and have been impressed both times. Both times we sat at the bar outside. I love the open-air concept and the garage doors. I love to be outside as much as possible, and it's great to have the option to sit at whichever side of the bar (inside or outside) that you want. The first time I had fish tacos. I asked if I could substitute French fries for the rice and the server said it was no problem (thank you!). This was a great decision - the fries are awesome. Crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. The fish tacos were also delicious - I cleaned my plate. The second time we had some wings. They were also very good - crisp and flavorful. This is truly a "menu hit or miss" restaurant. In my trips there (yes multiple because the atmosphere and service is amazing) I've had the nachos, watermelon salad, crab cakes, flat bread and I tried the wings twice (I wanted to give them another shot). Watermelon salad is absolutely amazing. Everything about it is spot on. It's my go to there. The nachos were horrific. I'm pretty sure they use canned chicken on them because it looks and tastes like tuna. Skimpy toppings and stale chips. Their flat bread I've had twice (they change them weekly) and both times they are home runs! The crab cake is "ok". The flavor is good however, $14 only gets you one and they use shredded potato as a filler. The potato almost overpowers the crab. If they used a little less potato I think it would help. The wings! So disappointed because i want to like them but I have tried twice now and they are no bueno. The flavor of them is good but they are so mushy and soggy inside. I'm not sure if it's the wings themselves or how they cook them but they aren't for me. I like my wings crispy. Their drinks are amazing! The cucumber cooler is my favorite! All in all it's a really nice place with a super cute comfy woodmont vibe but the prices are a bit high and you can't venture away from the few things on the menu that are "ok". read more

A very nice addition to the woodmont area and the food is relatively good as well. We typically go with friends and enjoy ourselves on the patio. I like the bar layout where it is both inside and outside, I think it adds an openness which helps it to create that upscale beach bar vibe. At times it can be busy, and I have no problem waiting to get my food or drinks. However, at times it would be nice to be acknowledged and have the bartender say I will be with you in a few minutes versus me waiting for over 10 minutes to get a beer at the bar. I will state a majority of the time the service is much more prompt, but there have been a few times where the wait period did not correlate with how busy they were. Again all and all a good time for food, friends and conversation. If you have not checked it out yet; you definitely should. read more

I feel so bad giving this restaurant such a poor review as I have been to both the Bridge House Restaurant as well as the Founder's House Restaurant here in Milford and as they are all run by the same owner and they are both FANTASTIC!! This was my first time trying Bonfire. I expected more quality I am used to at their more expensive restaurants. My Husband was disappointed with the amount of steak on this steak sandwich. For $15 it was all bread and everyone raves about their fries here our were soggy and not crispy as they advertise. They were inedible. I'm sure people will blame this on the fact I picked up but I live around the corner and wasn't late picking up. On a positive note my Bonfire burger was delicious but it was not cooked medium rare. Peanut butter cake was delicious. There are far better burger/casual places close by here, unfortunately I will not be back. Such a shame as I love the other two restaurants they own. Obviously you have to spend a little more for quality I guess ! read more

Came on a Saturday night with a group of 4. It was busy. They said about a 25-35 min wait. So we went to the bar to have a drink. About 10 min after sitting at the bar our table was ready! We ordered the buffalo wings with Gorgonzola to share. They were so good! We ordered the twin lobster rolls, land and sea app, fish tacos and the bonfire burger between the 4 of us and everyone loved their food. We will def be back! Solid lunch. Parking is limited - we were there on a rainy day and parking was tight. I would think on a beautiful, sunny day it would be a problem finding a spot. My friend and I both had burgers. I had the Holy Guacamole burger and by friend had the Bonfire burger. The guac burger was good - would I call it "Holy Guacamole"? not exactly. It was well cooked, high quality burger with a small cup of slightly brownish guac on the side. 7/10. My friend loved the Bonfire burger. At first he was concerned about ranch and bbq sauce but went with it and was pleased. Fries came with the burgers and were good. Have eaten at Bonfire Grille twice since moving to Milford from Cheshire, and both times have been excellent. First, their wings are outstanding; I love their BBQ Dry Rub, while my partner, who enjoys spicy food, loves their Habanero Bonfire Blaze wings. Along with their wings, Bonfire Grille's Fish And Chips are fantastic, although their house slaw leaves something to be desired. For improvement, I'd recommend more mayonnaise (make the mix more wet than dry) and, perhaps, some celery seed. Finally, their Key Lime Pie is great, but their All American Pie needs a lot of work on the crust, as the crust was flat, almost store-bought tasting, rather than rich, layered, and flaky with a hint of salt. Overall, I'd say come for the wings and Fish And Chips, stay for the outside view of the ocean. read more

The new menu is full of tacky Caribbean dishes, such as fruity pebble coated chicken and waffles, pineapple chicken, and overly loaded sweet Sauce. More of an Asian bistro than anything else. Much better options on the old menu and the new menu takes a lot of my favorites out of play. Prices are a little expensive as well for the quality, with the exception of happy hour. read more

Bonfire never disappoints! Still loving the beachy, fun vibe a year later. The bartenders are always on point with their drinks and service and always make it a fun night out. If you're around this area, whether you just dropped off your kids at Yale or on your way to either NYC or Boston thru I95, this is your oasis. My wife and I were looking for a nice stop and decent meal, away from the route 1 choices. Found this place, thru yelp and was not disappointed. Tried the crab cakes and the bam bam chicken and waffles and was sold. Parking is sparse but I think you can park on the streets. Service is top notch.
