    Salade Niçoise

The bistro was a major letdown. It was busy with the Saturday lunch crowd, but no diners were waiting for a table. I seated myself at the bar. The bartender repeatedly asked if I needed the wine list, but I politely declined, opting for iced tea instead. I accepted the complimentary bread with my lunch. For my main course, I chose the Salad Niçoise. As I sipped my iced tea, I noticed the second glass, also garnished with a lemon slice, was meant to be a refill-- warm tea only, no ice. This saved the bartender from leaving the bar. Later, he returned with the bread and its condiments. Despite not having napkins or utensils, the olive oil came with a spoon to mix the ingredients. I used this spoon to pour the oil onto the slices. When the Salad Niçoise arrived, I reminded the bartender that I needed utensils. He promptly grabbed napkin and utensils, but his distraction seemed to have lasted a while. Later, he mentioned that he had forgotten the salad dressing. Despite the restaurant's busyness, the bar remained relatively quiet. The bartender was not busy preparing drinks. There was even an opportunity for the manager and bartender to have a conversation about a customer, falsely believing the ambient noise would have muffled their discussion.

Great environment, super friendly server. Feels like you are sitting in French. However food is a little bit let down. Escargot need some salt Mushroom with pastry is way too salty Duck is too sweet and no salt no flavor Steak was just okay

I've come here a few times over the years and always have a lovely experience. Warm, inviting bistro feel, tasty food and great service. Authentic French restaurant and an experience as close to France as you can get in the Plano area.

I have enjoyed Lavendou over the years. It is elegant but relaxed and service is excellent. On this last visit I started with the dinner salad, which is nice because it has feta, olives and cucumbers in addition to the standard lettuce and tomatoes. I tried the scallops and tomatoes and basil for my appetizer. This was a disappointment because there were only 2 very small scallops. For $17.00, my expectations were higher. For my entree I had the sole with lemon butter and chives. It was light and fresh and perfectly broiled. I love that Lavendou has my favorite Chardonnay, Sonoma Cutrer, in half sized bottles.

Lavendou Bistro Provincial: A Taste of France Hidden in North Dallas "Some restaurants transport you the moment you walk in. Lavendou is one of those places." Every city has a restaurant that locals quietly treasure, a place you visit again and again because it makes you feel at home and somewhere far away at the same time. For our family, Lavendou Bistro Provincial in Dallas is that place. It is one of my mother-in-law's favorites, which means anytime we are in town, this charming bistro becomes a must-visit. Located in a simple strip mall that does not reflect the magic waiting inside, Lavendou is the definition of a hidden gem. If you drove by without knowing what was there, you might not think twice. But the moment you step through the door, everything changes. The atmosphere shifts, the noise of the parking lot disappears, and you are suddenly surrounded by the warm colors and rustic charm of provincial France. It is the type of restaurant that reminds you why dining can be an experience rather than just a meal. Ambiance and Décor Lavendou has an inviting elegance that never feels stiff or formal. The décor is beautifully curated with hand-screened Pierre Deux fabrics, soft lighting, and touches that reflect the countryside of southern France. It creates a cozy environment that calls to mind long lunches, quiet conversations, and meals meant to be savored. What makes it even more memorable is the way all the elements work together. The space, the service, the food, and even the gentle background music create a sense of transport that very few restaurants achieve. Menu and Drinks Lavendou's menu is rooted in authenticity. The first glance tells you that you are in for an authentic French dining experience. Dishes celebrate the lighter fare of southern France with flavors that are thoughtful, balanced, and beautifully presented. Susan always goes for the lobster bisque, which is rich, silky, and deeply satisfying. My preference leans toward the French onion soup, which was flavorful and comforting, though I personally would have enjoyed a few more baguette slices to bring even more texture into the dish. It is one of my mother-in-law's favorites, which means anytime we are in town, this charming bistro becomes a must-visit. We never skip the escargots a la bourguignonne, which arrive bubbling in garlic butter with French bread ready to soak up every drop. It is one of those simple pleasures that remind you why classic dishes become classic in the first place. Food Quality For our main courses, Susan ordered the Sole De Deuvers with crabmeat, which she could only describe as outstanding. I selected the Gambas et Coqilles St. Jacques en Mille Feuilles. The presentation was stunning and set my expectations high. While the flavors were excellent, the scallops were a bit chewy and the shrimp slightly overcooked. Knowing the talent in this kitchen and having dined here many times before, I consider this a rare miss and fully expect to give this dish another chance during our next visit. Dessert at Lavendou is an event of its own. The Grand Marnier soufflé is a must order. Light, warm, fragrant, and decadent all at once. We have also enjoyed the chocolate soufflé on prior visits and can confidently say Lavendou excels at ending the meal on a high note. Service Service at Lavendou is exceptional. Friendly, gracious, and attentive without ever feeling intrusive. You can sense the pride the staff takes in the experience they deliver. Owner Pascal Cayet is known for his welcoming presence and dedication to every guest. You feel cared for from the moment you arrive until the moment you leave. Value and Pricing Lavendou provides a dining experience that feels special from start to finish. Pricing reflects the quality, care, and craft behind every plate. From a value perspective, you receive every bit of what you pay for. This is a place to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, or simply a meal with someone who appreciates great food shared in a beautiful setting. Overall Experience Dining at Lavendou is like stepping into a moment of the French countryside without ever leaving North Dallas. It is warm, comforting, elegant, and memorable. The combination of atmosphere, authenticity, and heartfelt hospitality creates a restaurant that stays with you long after the last bite. The Culinary Duo Rating: Lavendou remains one of the very best French dining experiences in the region. If you have not been, this is your sign.

Beautiful setting for high tea! My friends and I went for a bridal shower and totally had a great time. This is your chance to dress up ladies and gentlemen! Great for small or large groups and for those who especially love tea time-the gossip and the actual tea- and for those who love snacking! Food is made fresh! They have various options of pastries, soup specials, sandwiches, charcuterie boards, and so much more depending on the season. It's so beautiful and dainty on the outside and inside and the assortment of displays are gorgeous too. Service was amazing too. Staff really paid attention and tended to you and your needs. I'd love to come back again. Till then, let's sip!

A friend brought me here for my birthday and it was wonderful! We decided to do high tea(must make reservations 24 hours in advance). It was a lovely experience. I wasn't sure if I would get full but I actually did. I didn't realize it was a full restaurant and next time I will plan to eat off the full menu. We got a glass of wine after the high tea (they have a large selection) Staff is attentive and I love the decor. I'm glad to have found this hidden gem and will be back! Add it to the love list

We set up a surprise baby shower for high tea and loved it! The food was great, service was super friendly, and the vibe was so cozy. They also cater to vegetarian options & have a full bar. We are definitely going back

Very chocolately chocolate cake - the coconut only adds confusion...

Lavendou's atmosphere is French country bistro, the food is provides a trip around France - October is Choucroute from Alsace - and the service excellent - very experienced waiters who know the menu, the wines and also their customers. The choucroute special is a pris fixe of frisée salad with lardons, choice of Chou - sauerkraut with meat or with seafood or red cabbage with pork chop - followed by a choice an excellent plum tarte or delicious french chocolate cake made weird by making it a German chocolate cake - adding the coconut doesn't make it European but Texan, where the German chocolate powder company got started... always a delicious dinner!

French Onion Soup, Foie Gras, Mussels, Escargot, Seafood Fettucine, Salmon, Rack of Lamb, Roast Duck, Chocolate + Raspberry Souffles I don't know if my expectations were just super high, but I was altogether unimpressed with this meal. The restaurant is cute and bustling and nicely has a lot of parking. But the interior was so noisy I could not hear the person next to me, and we were repeatedly having to shout our orders since the waitstaff couldn't hear us even standing right next to us. The French onion soup and escargot were pretty good! The mussels standard and fine. Foie gras was okay, I prefer it cooked over chilled but it was fine. But then the entrees. Oof. Everything was so heavy and so overly salty and very...just okay. The lamb was cooked very tenderly, but the sauce was so overpowering. Probably my mistake for ordering a pasta here, but the fettuccine was weak, thankfully the seafood pieces in it were decent. The salmon in my pasta and my mom's salmon entree were much too overcooked and very dry. Duck was okay. I think I discovered how much I just generally am not a souffle person because these looked fantastic but wow I did not like either of them. The people I was dining with seemed to enjoy them fine though so it's probably just a my own personal bias thing. Oh the bread here is excellent though! So that's a nice saving grace.

Food is great, from appetizer to dessert! Geraldine, our server, is amazing. The ambiance is very homey but classy. This is not our first time here, we just keep on coming back.

    French High Tea
    Lindsey C.

Came here for High Tea with a friend a while back and absolutely loved it! The High Tea is served with English breakfast tea (other tea selections available upon request), finger sandwiches, mini pastry plate, tea breads, scones, cream, butter, and jam. Overall, everything tasted pretty good and we had a wonderful time. I especially enjoyed the scones (tastes so divine once you add the cream to it), and the tea breads. The pastries were delicious and from the finger sandwiches, I liked the chicken salad sandwich the most. All the staff were super friendly and accommodating. They also have plenty of parking.

She was informative told me the entire history of the restaurant and has a true passion for what she does The food absolutely makes! This is literally transported me back to the oceanfront on the seashore. The best lobster I've had since the area! I loved that they actually had their proper migonette served with oysters that were chilled and properly shucked... I spent twice the amount of money, a big name and this almond pot defend and restaurant and teach all of them! Rolando was our server he was attentive & gave us good service. We ordered cioppino & rainbow trout grilled with mashed potatoes & corn as our sides. Trout was finely prepared nicely grilled & seasoned. Loved the corn with chipotle seasoning it went very well with the fish & potatoes were good. But Cioppino was not how it's usually prepared the broth seemed very light , seasoning was not up to the mark & the mussels were ok ... had better mussels in other places... it's a seafood place so we were expecting nice juicy mussels but the meat in clams & mussels were extremely small.... That was a let down... we did take the leftover broth to have it later but it didn't tasted good ( turned very sour) so threw it away... Maybe it was one of the off day but we felt disappointed... will try something else if we visit again.

I really enjoyed the American cuisine here--great food and a nice atmosphere overall…read more I ordered the French onion soup and the Reuben eggrolls. The French onion soup seems to be popular here, and as soon as I saw that buttery-looking pastry puff baked on top, I knew I had to order it! It was definitely hearty, with plenty of onions (which I love). However, it was a bit saltier than I prefer. I do wish there were an option to substitute the onion soup with a chowder, like clam or corn chowder. The Reuben eggrolls were surprisingly good! I'm used to traditional Asian eggrolls, so I really liked this creative twist. The house-smoked pastrami, sauerkraut, and melted Gruyère cheese worked so well together. They tasted amazing with the spicy Russian dipping sauce (which I appreciated wasn't too spicy). It was such a flavorful and memorable dish! I'm glad I gave it a try.
