I like the decor and ambiance of this restaurant. Especially love the cushioned seats which were so comfy. Our server was very friendly and informative but not around when we were ready to order and ready for the check. We started with the grilled octopus and local hamachi crudo. I'm not a big seafood person so these appetizers were not for me but my husband loved both. I ordered the bucatini amatriciana and thought it was good. It has a spicy red sauce with red onions and bacon. My husband ordered the wagyu hanger steak (medium rare). The center or the steak was medium rare but the outer edges of the steak were burnt which overpowered the flavor of the meat. We shared a bottle of Moscato wine (La Caudrina). It was sweet and delicious just the way I like my wine. They charge $20 to take the bottle home or $30 if you want to drink it there ($10 corking fee).

Great ambiance, especially since it's not overly packed on a Tuesday. They have a good assortment of happy hour apps. Everything was good including the service. Check out my pics of the food! Deserts are a must!!

I visited this place with my girlfriends and our respective kiddos for a pre-Mothers Day celebration and was absolutely blown away by the experience. Our server, Anais was simply amazing - providing great recommendations when it came to drinks, very patient with all the kiddos taking their time to order and checking in on us every now and then to ensure we were never without food or drink. We tried a variety of appetizers - the roasted tomato focaccia, the burrata w/tomatoes and olives, fried squash blossom, cucina meatballs and truffle herb parmesan fries. For our entrees we had a few orders each of the artichoke and spinach ravioli, bucatini amatriciana, short rib mafaldine, chicken milanese and fennel sausage pizza. And to wrap up- we tried the chocolate budino (my fav) , the basque style cheesecake, the tiramisu and gelato.

Visited on 3.14.25 Overall a very cute spot, great ambiance. 2 of 3 dishes ordered were amazing. Would definitely be back. Food: Short rib mafaldine - was a miss. Had a burnt taste to it. Short rib was tender and pasta cooked well but that burnt taste overpowered the entire dish. Would not order again. Rigatoni bolognese - AMAZING. They ran out of rigatoni but we subbed out to a different pasta shape. No matter, that sauce and the ricotta dollops were divine! Would 1000% order again. Tiramisu - delicious! Super light and tasty. One of the better ones we've had in San Diego. Would definitely order again. Service: Good service. They were attentive and manager came over to let us know about the rigatoni outage. She was sincere and offered a great alternate shape. We had a limited amount of time for dinner and we were able to be in/out on time!

Went there to celebrate Mother's Day. It was really good experience. Food quality and quantity was perfect and service was really fast and host gave us enough time to explain about the food in detail. Pasta is must try and pizza is the best I have ever had, thin crust with full of flavors. I would recommend this place and would definitely revisit whenever I get chance.

Such a beautiful atmosphere for a dinner after the racetrack! I was a little concerned about it being too loud for our group but I asked for a quiet table and they definitely accommodated that request! The service from the hostess to the waitress and everyone in between was great. The grilled octopus was better than I expected and the short rib pasta was beyond incredible! They also have gluten free pasta that everyone else at the table said they couldn't tell it was gluten free (which is a good thing trust me!). The others had the burrata and pasta bolognese and raved about it! The parking lot can be a little crowded but super easy to ride share.

Superb! With a feel of walking into a food kitchen market and seated in the main dining room that's bright and welcoming space. The tables made us feel like seating at an elevated farm to setting. Service was so well done that we didn't think they were there but they were. Thinking about the grilled octopus still brings back fond memories of the char, roasted flavors. Amazing. Burrata was sumptuous. Meatballs can't say anything bad. For mains, the short rib mafaldine was divine from the richness, seasoning without overwhelming and makes me take my time to appreciate all the flavors. The clam linguine was perfect but I'll have some more short rib please! Enjoy!!

    Delicious meatball- awesome sauce!!

Meatball ~ AWESOME!!! Awesome sauce too!!! Taylor - great server - super sweet!!! Kind and caring! Atmosphere was quiet and pleasant. Great place to unwind from traffic!!

We ordered the short rib malfadine and rigatoni bolognese. Both came out very quickly and were delicious. I loved the pasta shape of the malfadine, and the short rib was very soft. I don't usually like bolognese but this had a citrus flavor and was delightful (maybe even better than the short rib pasta) with pockets of ricotta. Definitely recommend trying it if you are in the mood for some fancy pasta. They also had a prix-fixe menu special for Christmas which I wish I could try (but it is ending soon). Hopefully I can try one of their other set courses in the future. Went on a Sunday afternoon and it was totally empty. Happy Hours are only on certain days.

Inside an upscale shopping plaza with a Whole Foods and boutique style stores, this small restaurant chain mixes a funky design aesthetic with a fun, lively atmosphere as well as a wine shop where you can find interesting wines of the world. Bonus on buying retail and drinking on premise. Very friendly staff - many came to say hello. We visited during happy hour which offers some discounts on wines, drinks and a few menu items. Meatballs - nice. Served over polenta with marscapone which was rich and creamy Chopped salad - under seasoned, could have used a bit more ooomph. Mussels - nice broth, well grilled bread to accompany. We enjoyed the people watching and the hospitality. Will be back to try wines and some of the entree items!

    the persimmon drink was amazing!

Two Visits - Happy Hour & Late Night…read more 1st Visit - After reading the reviews for the Postino Del Mar restaurant, I suggested trying it for happy hour to a business associate whom I was meeting for the first time. When I made the reservation, I asked if it was possible to find a place that wouldn't be too close to the bar, as I didn't want the typical happy hour noise that might make it hard to hear one another. And they delivered! My business associate got there before I did and asked how I reserved such a prime spot! She was seated right next to the outdoor fireplace! We decided to take advantage of the $7 glasses of wine they offer until 5pm for happy hour and asked our server, for a suggestion on something to nibble on. She immediately went to the bruschetta board and said we could pick four different types to make up our board. Not only were they a delicious delight, but the fact that arrived pre-cut made dividing them up much easier! Our server treated us to a dessert - hot donut dots, which came with tasty dipping sauces. What a sweet treat, literally and figuratively! 2nd Visit - The next time I returned it was to join some family members who were there dining but because I had already eaten, I just joined them for a drink. So this time I got to sit on the inside, which was just as enjoyable. We had a server who was training another server and they both did an outstanding job. It was a first visit for my family members and they were really impressed with what they had eaten and the service. So whether dining inside or outside, the atmosphere is wonderful, the food offerings are delicious and the service is top-notch! I can see this easily becoming a local go-to place when trying to decide where to go with friends.

Restaurants are way too loud in general, but some things are outside their control. Playing music too loud for people at the same table to have a conversation is not one of them!! The servers were polite and understanding, so I don't think we were unusual in walking away. Also, the Postino website does not allow you to complete their online survey--at least not if you are giving them a poor rating. I tried several times and concluded that they have it set up to prevent you from submitting a sub-par review. Not really interested in constructive feedback, I guess.

I tried to explain that my mother does not speak English very well, but instead of handling the situation professionally, Hope accused me of being rude, told us to leave, and threatened to call the police. Her behavior made both my mother and me feel very upset, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. She also stood very close to us and made physical contact by touching me, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. No customer should be treated this way. We came to your business hoping to enjoy ourselves and receive good service, but instead we experienced rude, aggressive, and unacceptable treatment from a manager. I hope senior management will address this situation seriously so that no other customers have to go through the same experience. This was my wife and I's second visit since the change in ownership, and the first time we forgave them thinking they would get it together. But we did wait a couple of years before we came back. So I made a reservation on a Saturday evening at 6 and we arrived on time. The table we were offered was a very small 2 seat right at the host podium, on the patio. Looked pretty quiet so I was a little disappointed, but ok. So the evening starts ok, we get our drink order in and an app. Just after our wine came they said sorry, can we take your table? They were rearranging for a large group expected later. So we held everything in our hands or laps while they dragged our table away. Good news is they brought a slightly larger one. Ok, still hanging in there. But now for the next 20 minutes they are dragging solar heaters around, moving tables, and in the process, ignoring us because they have all this to do. But our dinner eventually comes and the rearranging is done, but the large party starts to arrive. Turns out, of course, our server was their server. So things slowed WAY down for us but we did get a dessert order in, which was to be accompanied by a glass of port we were to share. After 10 minutes the dessert came and the server clarified with us we only wanted one glass. Affirmed. They disappear for 20 minutes to serve the big group. So our dessert included ice cream, it's starting to melt, we are trying to hang on...and after all this time our server comes over to tell us they are out of port. Now we're 30 minutes plus after ordering, that's pretty bad. So now we eat our dessert, really not enjoying it because of the service. Finally, waiting for our check, the owner comes over. It's been almost an hour since our dessert order. He apologizes profusely that there was a misunderstanding...they do have port...then with a flourish he produces a glass and says it's on the house. We would have sent it back but I think we were a little shocked at unaware he was Tone deaf to the situation. Three hours. $350. Miserable experience. Goodbye Sbicca, we miss the old.
