    Yogurt soju!
    Emily T.

I have finally found a place for blood sausages! Growing up in northern China, I'm absolutely obsessed with good blood sausages, I know that might turn some people off but yes, it's a thing people eat. This place really hits the spot. It opens until 5am, so it's perfect for you night owls out there. My friend and I came on a Thursday evening so street parking was easy to find. They also have a small lot in the back. We ordered A LOT of food for 2 girls, that included the spicy rice cakes and yogurt soju! The soju was served in a traditional tea kettle, and the entire experience was just great. I posted a quick video of the interior...so beautiful! The lights had such a lovely touch to the overall ambiance. Ooooo and what's quirky and cute about this place is that they DO NOT allow knives. Why you ask? Because they don't want people to get drunk late at night and make bad decisions. Love it!

Pork Pork Soft Bone Stir Fry (comes with rice balls)

This place reminds me so much of Dan Sung Sa but without the wait!! It also feels a lot darker and grungier, which I don't know if everyone will be into, but hey, I kinda liked it haha. The layout of this place offers a lot more privacy than other Korean bars in the area. You get your own like booth which makes it feel pretty cozy and it's not too loud. We got the Pork Soft Bone stirfry which was honestly really spicy but flavorful nonetheless. I liked that they give the rice balls with your meal! You gotta take the gloves and make them but that just adds to the fun. It was also a ton of food, so the price is pretty reasonable. The prices of the drinks are standard and comparable. My only real complaint about this place is the service isn't that great. It's a bit on the slower end, and they have buttons to call the servers, but there were two instances where we had to press it multiple times to get their attention. Aside from the buttons, they never came to check up on us or anything (which is actually fairly typical of Korean culture). Overll, not a bad option for a drinking spot in Ktown.

Review #062 - 2017 My last trip to SoCal was not a regular food adventure trip so I decided to stay in and just order via Yelp Eat24 delivery service, which definitely made me spoiled. Being that our condo is located in Koreatown, our late night Korean food choices was still plentiful. I placed an order at about 12:15 AM & my order showed up around 1 AM on April 5th, I guess it's considered a Wednesday, since it was passed midnight. My family seemed to really enjoy everything that I ordered, thank goodness! I was really impressed that they packed the order really nicely and it was still piping hot when it showed up at our condo. We'll definitely call for delivery again, if we decide to stay in and eat. The only downside is they require a $60 purchase to deliver, whereas most places only require $25 or less...but my family can eat more than $60 worth of food--so it's doable.

    Spicy rice cakes

Spicy rice cakes were good, service was quick, and the ambiance was cute and aesthetic. I was able to split one meal into multiple meals so the portion size is nothing to complain about. My meal also came with a spicy bean sprout soup which satisfied my hot soup craving.

I tried OdolPyo (Pork Soft Bone) 3 years ago, after then I am addicted to this menu. It is very spicy but you will want to eat more. There is several restaurant with this menu, but this house has the best taste. If you are a spicy lover you must try this menu. The ambient is very quiet so you can enjoy the conversation with your friends.

Dukbokki - super recommend! KailaYu.com or Snapchat: IamKailayu for more food adventures!

Tried out Bongsoongahakdang for the first time the other day and am obsessed with the Dukbokki. The potions were large and arrived at our table steaming hot and with a spicy kick. The Rice Cakes were perfect, firm to the bite but tender inside. We also tried the Pork and Kimchi and the Soondae. The Soondae was nice, fall apart to the touch. My girlfriend also ordered a fruit soju, I don't drink but she enjoyed it immensely, it came in a cute little tea kettle. We especially liked the ambiance and the big comfy wooden booths. Next time I want to try the Budae Chigae and Skewers!

I was really looking forward to coming here, apparently a super legit place where true Koreans go to drink. I thought it would be more shady-looking from the previous Yelp reviews, but DGM is much sketchier looking from the outside. The inside is also nicer than I thought, everything dark and wooden with cramped benches/booths. At some points though, it did feel super shady. The servers were not friendly like at most Korean bars, and didn't really talk. Just some people with baseball caps would come by from time to time. Couldn't quite put a finger on it, but seems like something is going on. The food was actually not bad, especially the budae jjigae, and the ddukbokki with boiled egg and ramen, but otherwise the emptiness and shadiness of the atmosphere meant that we weren't as rowdy or fun as usual. I wouldn't come here if you don't speak Korean or aren't with lots of Korean friends.

    Delicious Korean meatballs.

Always looking for new places to eat, so we came on a Friday night after a day of rain. So many places were packed, but this one wasn't filled until later into the night as we sat there. The tall booth setup and colorful lights hanging on the ceiling gives this place a nice intimate feeling that is great for a gathering of friends or your significant other. Not knowing what to expect, but always up for the challenge, we entered the restaurant feeling like we have been transported to South Korea. It is truly an authentic experience complete with a waiter that hardly spoke any English, girls mingling in Korean and drinking up their soju, Korean words all over the wall and nice K-pop music playing in the background. Luckily, the menu had English words in them. We tried our luck with the Korean meatballs, which was surprisingly amazing!!! They give you 6 large pieces with salad. Our fave dish of the night!! We also got the stir fry seafood udon, which we didn't realize was spicy, but it was still good. And we got the spam and eggs just because we wanted more meat to eat. The portions are large for family style sharing. The downside is that they allow smoking inside. If you're not a smoker, I suggest getting a booth by the front door. There wasn't any smokey haze, but we sat in the back and could smell the cigarettes after awhile. And if you're not Korean, it's best to just go in with the mindset that you're in South Korea enjoying a night out in the town. (Later on there were English-speaking staff onsite who are very nice.) Overall, I would come here again just to try out more of their delicious food.

I am a huge Food Network fan, so I like to try unique restaurants. From the street this place looks like a bar. It was dim with lights on the ceiling. There was no English name shown anywhere, but once you check-in on Yelp, you'll know where you are. With no English anywhere you can expect that there will be a language barrier. Fear not though... As long as the menu has English words you will be fine. You don't see the typical selections you would at a typical Korean restaurant and you won't get all the tiny dishes served in front of you before they take your order. What you do get is a pot of bean sprout soup. We ordered the Korean meatballs. It was love at first bite. The portions were large. That was surprising because you would think a place for downing soju would have small appetizer Tea Station style plates, but they were big enough for a meal...except there was no rice, but that's ok because I don't really eat rice. I don't eat spicy foods, so the seafood udon was spicy to me. This place is great for a date, but the bench is a bit far from the table. Felt weird at first, but after sitting there long enough you get use to it.

I liked it Hit the spot for a late Sunday meal. Friendly staff. Not much banchan as it was a bar but was still good. They need side sauces would be my only recommendation for improvement. Recommend the Pork and Kimchi

What seemed like a deceptively simple bowl was one of the most delicious and flavorful meals I've had - I'll be thinking about my bowl for a long time. I got the plain kalgaksu, mainly because it included pork potstickers. The anchovy broth isn't fishy (which I was concerned about), it's deep and full in a way that's hard to describe. It penetrates the noodles and potatoes well. The broth is similar if not the same between most bowl types. The cold noodles were also delicious, which a couple of my friends ordered. Quite large portions, as just about everyone had to take some home. They also have bibimbap if you're craving a rice based meal instead. I can't wait to come back - maybe not on a Saturday night next time so I don't have to look so long for parking!

I really wanted authentic Korean food that was not kbbq and not tofu and this place delivered! This restaurant is in a small strip mall. The strip mall has other Korean food options. They have a valet parking system of sorts but we didn't pay, we self parked. The attendant told us we were fine. It was approx 9pm when we arrived and also a week night. I have no idea how much valet parking is here. We were a small party of two. Upon arrival, we were notified they were out of RICE. Um..what?? That's a good problem (for them to have) but not for consumers. I feel this really limited our options to just soup. I honestly didn't want soup but there wasn't much else we could order. The bowls were large and came out piping hot. It was a satisfying meal and not too heavy. The price point was on the pricey side. Our waiter told us business has not been the same post covid. Some dishes are between $40-$60. I asked for a soup and they were able to make it less spicy. My friend got a soup with dumplings in it. He put a good amount of soy sauce to give the broth some life. Also, the banchan is on point. We asked for a refill and devoured the second portions. If you wanna impress friends with Korean food, bring them here! Its a casual place.

If you're searching for some of the city's best pork, then those in the know will bring up Ham Ji Park. For 2 decades, generous platters of pork ribs and pork neck stew decked every table. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.
