We love Ahgassi Gopchang. We don't live in Los Angeles, in fact we are over 400 miles north. But whenever we're in the area, it is a must stop for our family. We enjoyed the Large Beef Combo. There were 5 of us, but my grandaughter is a vegetarian. The meat, all the sides, the service, the atmosphere, everything was perfect. As for my grandaughter, she found plenty to eat that allowed her to enjoy the experience as well. I would recommend Ahgassi Gopchang to everyone. At least try it once. The service, however, was outstanding and definitely one of the highlights of our visit. If it's your first time visiting, finding the entrance can be a little confusing. We parked on the street and spent a few minutes trying to figure out where to go. For anyone visiting, it's much easier to enter through the parking lot, where the restaurant entrance is located. Ahgassi is hands down one of the best Korean bbq places around Korean Town. From the free side dishes to the dipping sauce and the high quality meat, you can't beat Ahgassi anywhere else. Their sauces taste amazing and their egg soup is something I always get here. It is another one of those spots where the employees cook for you rather than you cook for yourself, so you can focus on eating and chatting with friends than cooking yourself. They have ample amount of seating, but their booth seats are a bit uncomfortable compared to the chair seating, but other than that I would recommend visiting here at least once. read more

I was very excited to try Ahgassi Gopchang since I heard it was BTS favorite restaurant. We came on a Friday night at 6:30pm and it was not busy. We still used the valet parking which was $4 cash or $5 Venmo/zelle. We also booked a reservation on resy just in case. I also liked how the banchan was different from other Korean bbq places. The banchan actually hit and was seasoned very well. Quality of meats was also good. The combo also came with a kimchi soup and soft egg. My gripe was the service. Our server seemed very unwelcoming and it made me anxious to ask questions or for simple things like a napkin. As a party of two, we just got the ahgassi combo and mountain tripe fried rice to share and it was good amount of food. The combos all come with a stew and steamed egg. If I could give it an 0, I would. Our waiter, Yuna wasn't very attentive. Everyone else had their waiter there, checking in on them, often there for a while cooking a set of meat. There was a point in time where she completely disappeared for 20 minutes and came back without a word. She looked irritated and bothered. Brisket (first meat) was cooked perfect. Then she cooked our steak for about 5 minutes and then was finished. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to work but she didn't ask us how we liked it or if it was to our liking. It was almost completely raw in the center. There was people sat even after us who got all of their dishes, ate and left before she was even done cooking our meat. My biggest problem was when she started cooking the pork pieces and pork belly. She cooked it for an about 10 minutes on a low flame. When she offered it to us and said it was done for us to eat, it was pink and basically grey. No color or brown to it at all. We had to ask for our pork to finish cooking even though it shouldn't have been given to us like that to begin with. We felt mistreated honestly. Every other waiter was attentive, fast and communicative with their tables. We observed that she would even laugh and smile with her other tables. The beef stew was a bit on the salty side for us, so I recommend some rice with it or maybe add a bit of boiling water. They'll come by and set it on the grill, leave you to chill, and come back again to mix it up or flip it etc and they'll let you know when it's ready to eat. I've had Ahgassi Gopchang saved on my list to try for a while now, and hubby & I finally had time to venture into K-town to try this past weekend. We thought we beat the crowd by arriving a little before 6pm on Saturday, but there was already a ~30 min. wait. KBBQ set-up is similar to BaekJeong (if you've ever been), where they have combos or can order a la carte meats and they do all the cooking/grilling for you. Hubby & I weren't really in the mood for intestines this day, so we just ordered the Ahgassi combo w/ Brisket, Rib Fingers, Pork Steak (shoulder meat) and Pork Jowl (or choice of Pork Belly). All combos come with a Steamed Egg and choice of Stew (Kimchi, Soybean Paste or Tofu). Both of us enjoyed the Steamed Egg and Tofu Stew (comes w/ seafood - clams & shrimp). All of the meats were good, but the pork steak was just okay. Hubby & I did feel their meat portion was a little less than other a la carte/combo places we've been to. Their banchan and sides were interesting, not the typical side dishes from most other Korean places. Ordered a bottle of Rice Wine (Makgeolli) to pair with our food. I might return to try the gopchang, but for normal non-AYCE KBBQ meats I think I have other options I can go to closer to home. Restrooms are clean, but stuffy! Service is quick once you're seated. Do your research before deciding to eat here. The restaurant is known for their organ meats. If you're not interested in eating intestines, go to a different kbbq spot. I learned the hard way, never cheat on your favorite kbbq spot. I really wanted to try this place and came here on my birthday. Similar to some reviews, the service was very unwelcoming. It was also if they were in such a rush to get us out of there even though the place was empty and it was still early in the evening. They didn't pace the cooking of the meat. And service was done in 35 minutes with the check brought to us even though we weren't finished eating. The ambiance made it hard to enjoy the overall experience. Got the beef combo.
