I just had breakfast here. I had the ham, Swiss , tomatoes crepe and it was excellent. Comes with salad and a slice of pineapple. Daughter had the steak, portabella, mushroom crepe and she thought it was pretty good. I have to mention there decaf coffee was on the money. Had to get one to go cause it was that good. Small seating area that is casual... not at all trendy like a previous review suggested. Dishes served on disposable kitchenware which is kind of wasteful, but the crepes were filling. I love crepes. Alot. My bf had lived in Montclair (on the same street as Bonjour Montclair) and it took us 10 months to realize this magical place was there. The first time we went we tried to eat in. The place is small, and there were no seats. We decided to do take out. It took forever for the cashier to take our order. We ordered an egg, cheese, and ham crepe as well as a turkey, goat cheese and pesto crepe. Both were delicious, but they were not really homogenious (this is the issue I usually have with crepes). One bite would have egg, the other ham, you get the picture. The crepe batter is great. The second time we called ahead and once again had a breakfast crepe with egg, ham, cheese, as well as a proscuitto, mozz, tomato and pesto crepe. We had them sub in spinach for tomato. It was FABULOUS. The crepes here are great... My only advice is that if you are taking out, call ahead, otherwise you will be waiting forever. I grew up eating REAL grandma's crapes, So, I know when it is a good one. The place is small and always busy. Their crapes vary from "Ham and Cheese" to a "dessert" kind. They can customize crapes too. I rarely order sandwiches there, but each time they were good too. They have fresh squeezed juices and can blend combinations too. It is good for "to stay" and it is good for "to go" meals. Kids love it. It is sooo crammed that it could be traumatizing for introverts. I mean it! I have been searching for an excellent crepe in the area ..ever since I've tasted the lovely to go carts of crepes walking the cold winter nights of France. I don't think I've found it yet. First off this little nook is very casual not at all what I expected it to be. Also service was rather slow. Don't be fooled they serve you! We sat outside which was quite an experience. The table next to us had dripping water falling from the awning. But the worst part were the hundred of so little fruit nuts that the squirrels above us in the trees were nibbling on. Our plates, drinks, table, and food had many of these little nuggets but this happened half way through our meal. We worked through it with little bops on the head and shoulder. I ordered the banana, strawberry, chocolate nutella crepe which was quite large. It was served on styrofoam plates with plastic utensils. The taste was so-so. I had high expectations. Also had a strawberry smoothie which was yummy and fresh! Friend had an omelette with spinach and portobello + croissant. He enjoyed his meal. His croissant looked delicious. My first time at this place as suggested by two friends. I was craving a good crepes and I walked in. The place is small but luckily found a small table. This place specializes in crepes and I checked out the menu. Lots of choices but I always order my favorite: nutella and bananas and strawberry crepes. What hits you upon entering Bonjour Montclair is a sumptuous and heady aroma of chocolate and fresh fruit, cheeses and enough other things to get you salivating like Pavlov's dog. The atmosphere inside is close with the heat and sounds of cooking and other patrons. Outside seating provides a pleasant, relaxed setting when the weather favors. Where this crepe hit the fan, however, is when it comes to consistency of the service. Over a dozen visits, it is still unclear to me whether to order from the counter or wait to be helped -- funny enough it seems to be the same person doing both jobs. Additionally, upon my last Bonjour experience, I waited close to 40 minutes for my food and ultimately had to approach the counter to remind them of my existence and potentially (ineffectually) speed the process. Another point of contention is that despite being a sit-down restaurant with breakfasts upwards of $9 and often significantly more, you are still served your meal on a styrofoam plate. Now, there is something cool and casual about this that I might really dig under different circumstances. But at the same time I don't want to worry about leaking nutella all over the place when I should be enjoying it. Was lucky to stumble onto this place and it turned out to be a real find. It's rare to find a decent crepes place and I was really surprised to find one here in Montclair. Might have been the French accents from the proprietors but there was a real authentic feel here. They had a huge list of savory and sweet crepes but also a build-your-own section that would allow you any concoction you can think of. They had lots of options for add-ons. Since it was morning I went with the breakfast crepe with eggs and made the addition of prosciutto and mozzarella. I created my own Godfather crepe! I made me an offer I couldn't refuse. It was really hearty and satisfying. It wasn't a dainty crepe by any means. The staff was very friendly and inviting. "Egg and cheddar on wheat. Egg and Swiss on white." This rang through my head as I ate a delicious cinnamon and sugar crepe served on a cheap styrofoam plate and plastic utensils (not even the durable plastic). The tableware seemed to complement the decor: walls were lined with cheap dark-stained, plywood with matching tables to finish the drabness. The poor guy, who seems to be a regular, was trying to order. "Egg and cheddar on wheat. Egg and Swiss on white." He repeated it three times to the girl at the register. She just wasn't getting it. He had to repeat it two more times to the manager type guy (mtg) who the customer was sure the mtg knew of the usual order. I was already feeling uneasy before I overhear mtg ask the cook,"Whose egg and bacon?" The girl at the front didn't seem to respond. Mtg tries one more time,"Egg and bacon?" "That's mine" I interrupted. I couldn't take it anymore. I shoveled the rest of my crepe and flushed it down with the bitter macchiato, which actually had a nice milk foam. In NJ/NY, strong , bitter coffee is actually passable considering the amount of sugar and cream we put in. Many other coffee drinkers, especially those who drink it black such as myself (usually), might not appreciate it as much. I grabbed my coworker's food and freshly squeezed OJ, both of which she later said was delicious, and headed along my way. Had I just opted for takeout, this place might have gotten a higher score. The food is good (save for the coffee), although its appearance and staff would have you thinking otherwise. And it's more expensive than its lone dollar sign would suggest. read more

We got lucky and got seated right away, however, it seemed like the wait was not too long for those waiting. The food was really good and the service as well. I ordered a smoked salmon, goat cheese, tomato, onion, and pesto crepe. I'm a sucker for goat cheese so the decision was easy. The crepe was delicious and they did not skimp out on any ingredients. My friend ordered a fresh strawberry nutella crepe. The strawberries were fresh and you can never go wrong with nutella. Their portions were HUGE. Both my friend and I could barely finish a whole crepe...but we did because it was too good and we couldn't resist. I will definitely be returning to try their other crepes. Maybe it was a bad day. Anywho, the lemonade was kick-ass...you must order a large and I couldn't help but laugh when they gave us our food on paper plates with plasticware. Found this little gem while on a bike ride, and I must say the fresh fruit crepe was amazing. The crepe was the perfect thickness and the fruit was super fresh. I wasnt a total fan of the apples, but that is solely my own taste buds, other than that the pineapple on the side is super fresh and the taste is just amazing. Definitely worth the ride and most definitely will be stopping there again. Only gave it 4 stars since I dislike the location, it was so noisy outside at like 11A on a Tuesday, the garbage truck, the 18 wheeler delivery truck, the train... it was a mishmosh of sounds. Probably could have avoided that if I sat inside. I can see it being super nice on a weekend morning. Also had a latte, and it was just perfect, the right temperature and consistency.
