This restaurant is located right by the arena. I was very excited to come here and try something different. There is limited metered street parking and commercial garages within a reasonable walking distance. They have an adequate-sized dining area to sit and eat in. My interaction with the staff was very limited, as I placed my order at one of their two kiosks. I was disappointed that they were sold out of many of their items. I ended up ordering the Traditional Pork Burger and Taiwanese fried chicken with Mumbo Hot Sauce. I got a Honeydew Milk Tea to wash it all down. It took about 20 minutes for them to prepare my. It felt like forever. I really did not like my food. The chicken was rubbery, and I did not like that they only came with dipping sauce and was not already covered in it. I was not a fan. The burger was not really good either, and I wish that it had come with some barbecue sauce. After I got some of my own barbecue sauce on it, it tasted much better. My boba milk was awesome, though. It was delicious and really hit the spot. I would come back for just one of those. All things considered, my meal here was ok. I really wanted to like the place, but it fell short of my expectations. Stopped by at around 8:30 PM for some later night takeout snacking: Spicy Cold Rice Noodle - chewy rice noodles with crunchy bean sprouts, shredded cucumber, and fried bean curd. With hot sauce, sesame and peanut sauce. Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but it you like this kind of dish, this version will satisfy that craving. Pork Burger - it's a little unfair because the only other time I have had this was in Taiwan which was probably close to the pinnacle of what this dish could be. That being said, even without the Taiwan reference point, this dish falls flat primarily due to the bread. The inside texture of the bun is like a non-porous English muffin. The outside had no toastiness/char to it. It's always a little perplexing to see the signature dish of a restaurant have no "wow" factor. Tried Bonkers recently and overall had a phenomenal experience. The Dry Hot Pot with beef was the standout of the night. I liked this place. The food was good overall. I ordered the traditional pork burger with cilantro, green pepper, chili oil, and onion. As a drink, I had the classic milk tea. The only complaints I have are that my burger wasn't warm. It was tasty, but it wasn't warm. I would also like it if they played more traditional music. Oh my goodness, this was the surprise of our multi-city trip! We stopped in to try their Chinese pork sandwich/burger. In all honesty, we both said that sandwich may have the best single item we've ever eaten. The bread is crispy like phyllo or scallion pancake and the pork is so juicy and flavorful. It tastes as if they've spent days marinating and stewing their pork - such complex, delectable flavor. It really is that good. We enjoyed it so much that we checked out of our hotel late so we could wait for them to open and order it again. Well worth it. Though if you do dine with Bonkers, don't expect friendly customer service. Their staff doesn't seem too happy to work there or serve you so I recommend ordering online and taking it to go. The food was slightly over salted, but not unbearable. The taste was good on everything ordered, including the pork burger featured at the top of their online mobile page. However, the pocket bread for the pork burger was mostly rock hard. Seriously, could not continue to eat it without potentially chipping teeth. I had to throw away half the bread unfortunately. I don't know about their burgers as I did a TooGoodToGo, but they are probably good. Got boba tea without the bubbles and I actually prefer without the bubbles. Also popcorn chicken asian style. Staff is friendly. A high and/or drunk person came in. Not sure if he actually ordered anything. Everyone kept their distance and the restaurant staff handled the situation well. Everyone stayed calm and went about their day. No one said anything to the man nor did he say anything to anyone else when I was there. Area is typically like a small fast food area for the city and one bathroom for customer use which is reasonable for this establishment I think. I don't remember the last time I was in DC's chinatown. Looks like a few places were added/changed and it seems to be a blur of asian language offices and fast food type joints. The place reflects a piece of the neighborhood. I feel like there used to be a sit down place and that they haven't been able to survive the rent costs or they felt more fruitful to move to the suburbs.
