Some of the best shrimp Alfredo I've ever eaten!!! My husband and I both had pasta dishes. I had the Alfredo (fantastic) and he had the jambalaya pasta. The jambalaya pasta was also excellent. Our friends picked this place to eat authentic cajun food when on a recent vacation, unfortunately the authenticity ended there. My first impression was the empty restaurant and my second impression was the missing smell of cajun food cooking??? One should always beware of a restaurant without the enticing smell of whats cooking in the kitchen. Because I was leery I ordered a cup of the gumbo and a side of coleslaw, the gumbo tasted bad and old and reheated and frothy & on its way to being slimy. The coleslaw watery and rubbery. Nice small place to grab some food while in Denton. I ordered the catfish jambalaya. The other party ordered a catfish and fries. The service was quick and courteous. My dish was good not great. The fried catfish was better than the jambalaya. The place was clean as were the restrooms. The staff was great. The catfish seems to be the winner here along with the coleslaw. Some of the best food here in Slidell. Every time we order, Guy Fieri from Diners, drive-in and dives tv show comes to mind. He should add Bonnie C's to his list of Resturant's to visit. I LOVE Bonnie C's! Anytime my son and I want a 'homemade' meal we go straight to Bonnie C's. He usually orders the gumbo - he loves it, but I'm not too crazy about it. I love the turkey dinner. Found out about this lil' joint in Slidell through combing yelp for a pre-swamping lunch. Our server was Alex, she was very welcoming and knowledgable about the menu. Luckily we made it in on a thursday so we could order the White beans and rice special served with a porkchop and cornbread. The porkchop was extremely tender and moist, the outside had an awesome crunch with the perfect ratio of pork to breading. The white beans were so flavorful, topped with a pork sausage, filled with ham along with other various porky morsels. The crawfish pies were awesome. I love the sweetness of the pastry shells and the filling was super flavorful with lots of crawfish. The worst meal I've ever had in Slidell. Freezer burned sliced deli roast beef on top of a poyboy, asked for something else. Got a fried shrimp platter, jumbo shrimp not butterflied, poo line still in the shrimp, batter not sticking to the shrimp, a $8.50 Bloody Mary that tasted like straight Worcestershire sauce. This place came highly recommended, and the food was good enough. I had daily special, meatloaf, with mashed potatoes and greens. I wanted to follow up with the bread pudding, but no one came back to the table. I travel for work, and often eat by myself. I generally overtip because I know the server could make more money with more than one person at the table, and I really overtip if the server doesn't treat me like I'm not worth their time. After my food was delivered, my server checked in on me one time. After that, I was completely ignored. No drink refills, no chance to order dessert. About 15 minutes after I finished eating, I began to look around for my server, but she was either nowhere on the floor, or rushing past me. I tried to catch the attention of the other server, but she pointedly turned her head every time she walked by my table. I did everything I could to indicate I was ready for my check, even set my card out on the table. After another 15 minutes, I decided to just leave some cash on the table and go. I had no idea how much my check was because the special wasn't on the menu. As I was pulling the cash out of my wallet, my server finally noticed me. She was very apologetic, and processed my card quickly, but it was a little too late by then. I will be in town several more weeks, but I will not go back to Bonnie C's. read more

I've been there a few times trying to give them another chance, but it's time to stop. The Monday special normally tastes like someone burned the beans. My food has always been lukewarm at best. The owner came over and she was very nice. We ordered drink and started looking at the massive menu. I learned from gordon ramsey that a large menu is never a good sign. I think this place might be a diamond in the rough and has not been discovered by many folks in Slidell. At least that is what is was to us; but not after tonight. We have drove past this place on numerous occasions (it is on Front Street with the 3 wheeled motorcycle in front) and we are glad we made the decision to stop by there tonight. We were recently told that the "C" in Bonnie C's was for Copeland (as in Copelands Restaurants and Popeyes) and confirmed the same tonight. The Copeland family flavor/quality is undeniable. Atmosphere is very casual, food is very reasonably priced and the food quality is outstanding. If you are looking for an uppity place to impress associates; do not go to Bonnie C's. However if you are looking for a place to bring good friends or family that has food that will blow their socks off; this is the place. My struggle was deciding between the fried chicken, the chicken parmesan and the open roast beef. The open roast beef was the final decision and it was a winner. Tender roast beef debris in a thick brown gravy over a piece of po-boy type french bread and mashed potatoes. Also included was a greens mixture that was uniquely spiced and converted me from a being a non-greens eater. My wife had the Tuna and loved it (it was seared perfectly- rare) and while I also thought it was good, I would lean towards the home/southern style cooking items as you can get a good piece of tuna at other places but if is hard to find this type of well prepared home/southern cooking anywhere. For most folks, this is not the type restaurant for that special occasion or that one night out. This is a type restaurant for folks that eat out often, appreciate good quality food and want a good solid restaurant to be on their top five (or maybe top three) list of places to go on a regular basis to relax and choose from numerous items that are all going to hit the spot. First impression is that parking is not the greatest, you park on the side or behind then go through the forest of dips and holes in the gravel. While waiting for our food we got these Orange muffins, they were freaking good, i wished i ordered some to go home and snack on. I ordered the Surf & Turf burger with cornbread dressing and mac & Cheese my wife ordered seafood platter and we had friends dinning with us but i can't remember what they got. My burger was so freaking juicy i had to eat with a napkin after i kept squirting juice on my shirt, the combo of fried shrimp on a burger was awesome best of both worlds. The sides were very good, we ordered another round of them because everyone kept sharing. The cook sent out some extra fish because he didn't think my wife got enough, i thought that was pretty cool of them to do. I ordered food from the Menu Express delivery service which is an amazing service and I got Spaghetti and meatballs and requested 3 extra meatballs from Bonnie C's. So, an order of Spaghetti and meatballs is $10.99, Not an outrageous price at all and I asked for three extra meatballs. Not an outrageous request. But to get three extra meatballs, Bonnie C's charged me $9.00. That's $3.00 a meatball!!! And the aren't even that great tasting! I will never order from this restaurant again. I was excited to try the new menu at Bonnie C's. Me and my sister had dinner on Saturday. We walked in weren't greeted or seated, so we sat ourselves down at a table. We got our own menus and TWENTY MINUTES later after I went up to a server and asked "Can we get any help " finally a server came and took our drink....well at that time our whole order. Once we ordered everything came out pretty swiftly. We had the onion rings as a starter and were good. We both were adamant about trying the Bonnie's fried chicken, which we did because of the description stating it was 'like maw maw used to make it '........well I can't say it was, the chicken was heavily battered and I tasted no seasonings or flavor, only breading. That was a disappointment to us both but not to mention the sides were tasty. I just wish my baked macaroni didn't seem like it was scraped out the bottom of the pan. Bonnie C's Café is great place to stop an have lunch after visiting downtown Slidell, Louisiana. My 1st visit here was just before the start of the Krewe of Slidellians Parade on Jan 25th, 2015. We established our parade viewing location and took a stroll to the downtown area in search of some good eats. It's a little restaurant with a bar. There's a life like statue of Elvis as soon as you walk in. I was greeted by the staff and was asked to sit anywhere we pleased. My wife and I plus 2 kids chose the booth closest to the entrance. A staff member promptly attended to our table with menus and eased our minds with "Your waitress will be with you shortly." Sure enough she was, she took our drinks and we continued to view the menu. There was plenty of delicious southern foods, it was hard to choose. I didn't see any shrimp or grits so I wasn't able to add this location to my search for my favorite shrimp and grits place. I ordered the Surf and Turf Burger, which is a burger with fried shrimp and remoulade sauce, a side of fries and a n extra side of pasta with alfredo sauce for the kids. My wife wasn't too hungry so she ordered a side salad and macaroni and cheese. We also ordered the "out on the bayou" drink, which was made of Malibu Rum, Blue Curacao, and pineapple juice. The items are a little expensive side to be an everyday lunch joint for me but the food was delicious. So it'll be a great meeting spot to try new items on the menu with out of town friends and family. I didn't use the restroom this visit so I cannot comment. The atmosphere was pleasant, not loud, a good amount of people and kids in the place. The place looked cleaned and maintained, the menus were not sticky nor was the table and booth.
