I've loved Bonta Gelato since I came here for a Yelp Elite event last year. The flavors are unique and delicious, the service is excellent and there's always a friendly face to greet you, and it's just a cute little shop with lots of seating and good music. I mainly rate it a 4 star because the texture is more like a soft ice cream than gelato, and it doesn't quite make it to the level of my favorite gelato place in Portland on quality and flavor. I do, however, have a lot of frozen dessert in this city and I will not turn down a delicious cup of Bonta Gelato.

Came here on a whim, was not disappointed! I got the lime cream and raspberry gelato and it was so good. There were a good assortment of flavors to choose from. Service was quick and the employee was friendly. Cute gelato shop in downtown, walking distance to a lot of different things.

Deeeelicious! We tried brownies and coffee and Mayan chocolate. Both were so good and the portion size is very generous. We will be back. Great service too!

The counter person was extremely patience. So many people got 2 and 3 samples. They had coffee chip oat milk Gelato. Refreshing and tasty.

I've walked past many times and when I saw their LONG list of dairy free options, I had to stop in. Sampled the matcha and was hooked! Got it paired with the Mayan Chocolate. The staff was incredibly friendly and bubbly. It was very clean and if I had time, I would have hung out a while. Will definitely come again!

The gelato at Bonata Gelato is delicious. The staff lets you sample different flavors before you purchase. The taste is delicate and creamy (little to no ice crystals). There are not many unique flavors, but the few "standard" ones that I tried were well done. I ended up getting the orange blossom and poppy seed, which was very bright and had no acidity. A small container actually holds a lot of volume; they really packed it in! There is a large, indoor, casual sitting area at Bonata, which I love at ice cream places. The prices are a bit on the higher side, but not much different from other local ice cream places.

I came across this gelato shop through an online post stating that a famous Bend, OR, gelato establishment had opened a new Portland outpost. So while visiting Portland, I decided to check it out. It was worth the stop. They offer a good variety of flavors and the pricing is very reasonable. I tried their Lime Cream & Raspberry and Orange Blossom & Poppy Seed flavors. Both were unique in taste and had a good flavor profile. The lime cream was tart and the orange blossom was smooth and subtle in taste. Both were creamy. I got a small cup which came with two flavors and they loaded it up. Check out this gelato shop when in Portland and in Bend.

Chilled silky smooth so creamy so delicious Bonto gelato. New in the Pearl District across from Armory theater and down the street from a bunch of eateries to scoop up a creamy gelato dessert, after lunch or dinner. Many flavors to choose. And great convivial space inside to spread out, kickback, meet up, scoop up and lick up lip smacking creamy gelato whipped up from Bend Oregon dairy. Love the Mayan coconut, spicy chocolate and coffee!

Really excited to see Bonta now in Portland! We had been numerous times out in Bend and finally got the chance to check out their new location. It's actually quite spacious inside and they've done a nice job designing everything. The gelato itself is great and they are generous with the portions which I appreciated. Went with the cookies and cream and strawberry. Will definitely be back more once the warmer months roll around. Our scooper was very nice and offered us numerous samples which is always helpful. Thankful to have another ice cream spot in the area now that Ben and Jerry's is gone.

A new gelato spot from Bend! Space is big and open. They got a few fun flavors to choose from, some were a miss though. But the ones that are not are the Straccaitella, Orange Cream, and Strawberry! Some of the better gelatos I've had around here. Will definitely be back for more.

Phenomenally flavorful gelato! Every bite has an interesting flavor profile. My favorites are the the salted chocolate, salted vanilla and Marionberry Sorbetto. There are 2 different chocolate flavors here with very different flavor profiles. So if you'd like a more rich and classic profile, I'd go with Salted Chocolate. Mayan chocolate has a spicy aftertaste. The atmosphere is modern with clean lines, yet it still feels warm with mural art in the background. There's ample seating space. It's a great place to bring a date, friends or solo. Fantastic counter service.

    Salted chocolate and roasted strawberry

The flavors are so good! The lemon gelato and roasted strawberry was so good. The orange cream was very refreshing. Everyone killed their cups quickly. Wish we could bring some home.

I wasn't even sure I was at the right place, thought they were still transitioning from one location to another. Until someone who shared the kitchen popped out. I was told that I should order online and come by for pick up, and was strongly urged to do so because these cheesecakes were really good. When I saw that they were doing a contactless store front, I knew I had to go. This was my opportunity to try it. I texted the owner to ask if the flavor I had my eye on was available. I was halfway there before the owner responded that they had one slice of pandan cheesecake left. There are multiple forms of payment with a card reader, and various apps to pay with online which made this a breeze. The owner Kiana, even popped to introduce herself which I thought was so nice! The flavors here aren't your typical strawberry, chocolate, peanut butter cheesecakes, even though she does offer some variation of them. There's pandan, ube, lemongrass, ginger mango, passionfruit, matcha, guava, pineapple raspberry, and I heard she even cooks up something with the pickle brine from the other business that operates in that kitchen. I thought this would be one of those situations where the food won't look like the picture. The pictures are obviously styled, they look stunning. Nope! The food looked just like what was on Instagram. I am a long time lover of cheesecake, dare I say it's my favorite of the cakes. The condensed milk ube mirror glaze was a lot thicker than I thought it would be and held its form. It wasn't runny and goopy. Loved that it wasn't a sticky mess. The crust was very very thick, I've always wanted more crust on other cheesecakes. On the description, it says it's "jasmine scented almond shortbread cookie crust" slightly saltier than most crusts I've had, but still very enjoyable. I've only had the traditional graham cracker crust and I'm afraid this almond shortbread crust has ruined all other cheesecake crusts for me. I have been disappointed at a lot of places using pandan, because the flavor just wasn't there, not Muse cheesecakes though. Pandan was present indeed. I would have loved if it was a little stronger, but I think that would have overpowered the cheesecake. Each component of the cheesecake are so different and complex on its own. They come together in delicious harmony to make this beautiful slice. I grew up with a lot of Vietnamese food and pandan has a very special place in my stomach.. heart! I've never seen jasmine used outside of tea and condensed milk outside of Vietnamese iced coffee. Kiana definitely has a way with these ingredients and she's a cheesecake goddess! I really can't wait to try the calamansi, Ube, and whatever else is getting cooked up in this delicious kitchen.

Durian cheesecake!!!! I am Vietnamese-Cambodian and durian is my jam. I love its pungent goodness in all forms -- pure and un-doctored straight from the prickly shell, ice cream, smoothie, topping on mashed avocado dessert and now.. CHEESECAKE! ohhh my goodness. My heart. I have returned so many times and buying extra slices (possibly buying out her supply for the week...) to share with my family and friends, who have all raved about the cheesecake from here. Durian isn't her only flavor though. She has so many creative flavors and I've noticed she's had comfort flavors from different cultures. To top it off, the owner, Kiana, is a wonderful lady. She is a one woman team and is kicking butt at her game from what I've gathered in the short time I've known her. She could be dead tired, but always has a smile on her face. I almost forgot to rave about her TARO BURGER on a vegan bun. I don't know how frequently she makes them, but if you see it being offered, do yourself a favor and get it. The portion is quite large so be prepared for leftovers. Unfortunately for me, my carnivorous sister gobbled the other portion of my burger right up and didn't even miss her meat. It comes with a vegan mac salad on the side. I am not one to enjoy mac salads usually, I think it's due to the mayo (not a mayo fan), but I actually liked this version. I forgot to take a picture of the burger before it all got inhaled. Sad face.
