Split scoop vegan and Cookie Monster
    Shae B.

We were offered samples as it was our first time. I was pleasantly surprised by the split scoop of mango coconut and pandan. It felt like a double and it was vegan! Hubby enjoyed the Cookie Monster. Quaint little shop right off Williams and Fremont.

KULFI! I love you so much. I have been here at least 15 times and always rave about it to friends and family. Anyone who I've brought to try it always feels the same way that they have the most quality ice cream there is. It is the most creamy and flavorful ice cream I've ever had. The staff is always so patient and encourage patrons to try all of their fun flavors and all of their seasonal items. I'm so happy they recently opened a second location. The sweetest husband and wife duo who own the shop deserve all of the success. If I had to choose a favorite flavor it is the UBE but you can't go wrong with any of the flavors, seriously.

You can't enjoy a Portland summer evening without a scoop of ice cream. I spotted the line outside Kulfi in North Portland and figured it had to be worth the wait. I went with the ube, and it absolutely delivered, creamy, flavorful, and not overly sweet. Sadly, no photos. I was too busy eating the ice cream. Friendly staff, street parking, and a perfect stop on a warm summer evening.

This has been on our list to try out for a long time now, we finally made it. Six stars! I think this was the best ice cream I've had in all of PDX. Everyone was so nice. You know when you are waiting in line and those people in front of you try a sample of every flavor, and it's so annoying... that was us. There wasn't anyone behind us. All the employees seemed happy and shared their favorite flavors with us. I think every flavor was amazing. I'd like to know who created this ice cream and flavor options. I'd like to give you a round of applause! The flavors we settled on, even though we wanted to order many more were: black sesame cookies n cream, and I got golden milk, my wife got vegan pandan. I also tried the pandan and it had such a good flavor, especially for vegan. I know that sometimes that really isn't at the same level. The vegan flavor has a delicious coconut flavor. We also did some reading on the differences with Kulfi... less air, no churning.... More condensed and intense flavor. Oh yeah! I also saw they were baking their own honeycomb for the golden milk, wow! Where else can you get that? So happy we tried this place.

After lunch we walked over to grab ice cream. The staff was so sweet and let you try as many flavors as you want. The flavors are unique and worth a visit. It's just not something that I would go out of my way get unless I was in the area.

I got a mango coconut falooda during their grand opening in Beaverton and it was delightful- refreshing and *not too sweet*. I'll have to come back to try their different ice cream flavors, I loved how creative their flavors were and that they used a lot of Asian flavors! Friendly service, am so happy they're in town and I'll definitely be back.

My new favorite ice cream spot in Portland! Super nice people, amazing interesting flavors, and a nice little shop vibe. Highly recommended!!!

I only have one thing to say, "GOLDEN MILK HONEYCOMB." Per the menu, "Earthy, turmeric ice cream with warm spices and swirls of house-made melted honeycomb." This has GOT to me the best flavor of ice cream I have ever had, but I LOVE honeycomb ice cream. The black sesame Oreo was good, if you enjoy those two flavors, you would enjoy it. I think the flavor was more sesame heavy than Oreo, but good nonetheless. The thing is, as you could tell from the pic, the golden milk flavor was UNDER the black sesame and I did not understand that I did not really enjoy the sesame UNTIL I had the golden milk which is FANTASTIC!! It is such a splendid flavor! I should have purchased a container of this flavor! Passed this place because I had dinner at EEM (a Thai spot in Portland) and this ice cream shop just so happened to be on (or around) the same block of the restaurant. I saw the awesome South Asian forward flavors on the menu located outside and HAD to give this spot a try!

My ice cream here was AMAZING! I loved all the different and unique flavors they had! Also service was fast and they didn't rush you when deciding which flavors to get! I would go again!

Best ice cream place we stumbled upon when visiting Portland! We never would've expected to find this place until we were looking up desserts in the area. They have some of the best flavors here. We were in shocked with every bite how much flavor could be infused in the ice cream and how it can be so creamy. The flavors here are so unique that we wanted to try them all! We got the Cookie Monster, saffron pistachio, and ube. I thought I found a really good place in Washington for ube ice cream, but this place takes the cake for that. The ube flavor really comes out in this ice cream and was able to remain a creamy texture. Ube was our favorite, then the saffron pistachio, and last but not least the Cookie Monster. However, even though we put Cookie Monster last on our list. Omg it was so good still! We will be back here soon when visiting Oregon again!

We were looking for dessert after lunch. We found this place. I ordered Ube, but I did try other flavors. It was creamy and ton of Ube flavor. My brother likes his coffee flavor ice cream. My nephew got a scoop of ice cream and a cookie n cream bar. The cookie n cream bar has a whole Oreo cookie embedded into the ice cream. Service was friendly. There are few tables inside. Street parking.

Discovered this place when we went to Black Cat Custard Cafe and they were closed. Super happy that happened so we could try Kulfi. There was a line out the door when we arrived. They let you sample the flavors. Lots of different sizes to choose from. I went with the split which is two scoops of two different flavors. I couldn't decide between the Thai Tea or Ube so I got both. The Thai Tea tastes exactly how I wanted it to. It reminded me of my days drinking milk Thai tea but without the insane sweetness. The flavor was just right. The Ube was flavorfully rich. Both ice creams were dense and not loose liquidy. I will miss these ice creams dearly. You can get a kids scoop or a bar on your birthday if you join the free rewards program. Parking is a little tough since it's a crowded area but they don't charge for it. We were lucky and parked on the street nearby once and in a neighborhood the second time. 5 stars if more seating and shade is added. In the afternoon the sun hits the store and you will be in the sun. You can buy ice cream by the pint. If the flavor you're looking for isn't in stock they can scoop it into a pint for you.

I love salt and straw but I think this place is so much better and flavors are so unique. The ice cream itself is creamy and flavorful. This time we came here we had the seasonal flavor - lychee rose and strawberry. The lychee was so refreshing and has a really strong lychee flavor with it also being creamy. Their permanent flavors are also really good. Last time we got the pistachio saffron which we also really enjoyed.

If I was a billionaire, I'd invest in this shop to open a second location by me in Maine. Small batch and homemade, these ice creams are luscious and delicious. They are not sickly sweet, and they don't need to be. They really let the flavors shine on their own. The thai iced tea is my favorite flavor, though the fresh banana is up there too. This trip already I have visited once IRL and later I ordered a shake from them for delivery to my hotel, which was great! No drop in quality there and they drew a cute little note. The service has always been amazing throughout the years. Got to meet THE Miss Oz herself one visit too! Scoops or in shake form, it's a must visit when we find ourselves back in PDX!

The vibe appears to be one of modern appearances, with old-school "ice cream parlor" ambiance (50s and 60s music is what is played, and I appreciate this). Variety of flavors is wide, and there are fresh cookies available. Prices are on the high side (location, though), the interior is very clean, and staff is very friendly and helpful. The cookies were disappointing, but not bad. Ice cream was on the better side of average, but is nothing groundbreaking. I definitely recommend stopping in for a fun experience if you're in the neighborhood.

Ok.... disappointments in order of appearance with the disclosure, up front that we were visiting them in their last 30 minutes open.... having no intention whatsoever to eat our treats there but also figuring we'd have time to try stuff, get stuff and be ok. First disappointment - we both really were looking forward to trying, and assuming we would be eating the flavor they've been promoting - peanut butter butterscotch. Sounds so good right? Well we wouldn't know, because both the gals behind the counter almost mocked us for even thinking that they would have it available. It was a weird flex... truly they didn't even have a marker for it or language saying they were out of it - they just said it was not available in a weird way. I asked permission to try a few flavors... and gal number 1 give me an enthusiastic yes , which I appreciated. I'm sorry but I always want to try so many things, realizing that with each try, most flavors are too much - or would be too much if I got an order of it. I try to only taste 2-3 but almost always end up ordering the one I don't try which is vanilla (yep, that is how I roll). I tried the boysenberry which was incredible but, too much. I then tried the mint chocolate and confirmed I still don't like theirs (I had forgot it very punchy mint, more like mouthwash than fro yo) but I always try it because I keep hoping they will change the recipe. Soooo... gal 1 went away leaving gal 2. It genuinely felt like we just got handed to the bouncer... I honestly felt afraid to try anything else because she immediately was very aggressive... like "What else" isn't a question but an order to GTFO. This intensified as my friend had questions because she's vegan, so making sure things are vegan and she was curious about getting a shake - more going for a blizzard situation. Gal 2 started lecturing her about flavors saying she was interested in too many (because M&Ms & vegan butterfingers apparently ate a ridiculous ask?). She was also saying it would be chunky - isn't that the point? My friend asked if she had had a shake there and was given a very stern NO. It was just a bit insane... like, I appreciate you are maybe wanting to close early but WOW. I said , I just want vanilla thank you... and I figured I would just order Oreos on top - again, simple. She then lectured me that they don't have that and was trying to add cookie dough... ummm... have you had an Oreo? That is a completely different flavor, texture and thing .... and no... I started asking if there was any fresh fruit or something and she seemed confused at the question... I walked almost to the register and saw marion berry compote. Yes, that's all please angry person... my friend took her time ordering while I practically ran out. I was just super uncomfortable. She had perfect eyebrows I really wanted to compliment her on but it has been a bit since I felt such strong GTFO vibes. I assume maybe she had a spicy customer before us earlier but eek. It's so true about every encounter. I'll definitely remember this one as being pretty unpleasant. My friend joked that gee, her shake was delicious even though it was apparently made with pure hate.
