The menu has a few staples and a few seasonal items. They forage for the seasonal ingredients or work directly with local farms, we love supporting small local businesses! They also have a dairy free menu, so lots of options for everyone. Everything I've tried has been exceptional and super flavorful. You can really taste the flavor, even something as subtle as blueberry. They often have combinations of fruits and herbs which are fun to try. Despite loving everything I've tried, I get the same thing every time. I get chocolate and hazelnut, the perfect combination. The chocolate is dark and rich, but not too sweet. The hazelnut is nutty perfection (and I'm not really a nut person). The combo is absolutely divine - think nutella or baci. I always love coming in here! The flavors are so fresh, the whole experience feels luxurious. My all time go-to is the Stracciatella, which is worth popping a lactase every time. A very tasty fine establishment ran by in Italian, as it should be, with delicious and refreshing options. Today being in the 90s, or it felt like it, the fruitier flavors like the Marion Berry with basil and the melon with the yogurt, which taste like vanilla went well together, and I really love Italian flavor flavors so that basil and the Marion Berry was just a great taste burst in your mouth. I'm not a fan of the small yellow Italian so they had it was very bitter and it tasted like I was drinking orange peel.. so unless you're like really bitter stuff, you're definitely gonna like this. I'm kind of curious about the red one that's available and then there's an orange cola type one which I'm really curious about which I knew I should've gotten. This has been my wife's favorite gelato spot for years, at least a decade. Even while we were dating. Food: Sesamo Nero (4/5) Rich and nutty with a strong sesame and caramel flavor. It was not for me, but my wife really liked it. Bacio Blanco (2/5) This one looked very promising, and I really wanted to like it. It has a thick dark chocolate layer, white chocolate ganache, and hazelnut. I love white chocolate and I love hazelnut, but the dark chocolate was too strong and overpowered everything. Neither my wife nor I ended up choosing this flavor. Tangelo (2/5) It was okay, but the flavor was very light. After tasting Bacio Blanco, my wife could not even taste it. I could, but it was only a faint orange flavor. Hazelnut and Vanilla (5/5) My favorite go-to combination. Hazelnut gives that light Nutella taste, and vanilla balances it perfectly with any other flavor. Service: Taste testing is encouraged and very helpful when deciding what to order. Ambiance: Usually it is packed and feels almost like standing room only. We went late at night this time with no line and only about six people sitting at the few small tables. Service is always great when I've come in the past, I always forget to write a review! Lines can get lengthy esp during the warmer months, but lines move pretty fast. They always let you sample things and tell you all about what's in eat flavor which is so appreciated as someone who can't decide! Their fruitier flavors are always my favorite and safe to get when I can decide. I will say this time around there were less flavors than we usually see which was a bummer, but overall the flavor selection is still great. It's a small shop so be prepared to take your gelato to go and walk around and eat if there's no seats! There's plenty of cute shops around to do that and enjoy your gelato. ;) read more

Favorite dessert spot in Portland to this day! Kind staff, cute interior, and incredible authentic gelato that tastes just as good as the stuff in Italy (if not better). They have permanent flavors (favorites are the pistachio and hazelnut) and special flavors that rotate every few weeks. The specials are always so unique and delicious, this time I go the Cassata and Pistachio with tangelo/kumquat jam and they paired beautifully together! They also have rotating sorbets for dairy free people or for when you want something a little lighter. Can't recommend this place enough! The gelato here is fantastic. They only have a few well curated flavors, with some rotating flavors and some regular. Rotating flavors often include local flavors or fruit. They are friendly and fast. Best of all they're gluten-free. They can answer questions about gluten and so far have been safe for celiac. I'm so excited that this place has gluten free gelato. In a town with a lot of gluten free dessert, this is a must. They have nice seating inside, drinking water, and a restroom. They also have great seating outside on the street. Not really sure why I waited what feels like 47 years to try this spot because wow I have been missing out?! I will say I was enticed into coming here by way of the Eletrica and Pinolo collab re: the hojicha crunch flavor. But your girl did not wait in a 25 min line to just get a single flavor, it's a no for me dawg. My husband and I decided to divide and conquer with me getting the tiramisu and the hojicha crunch and him getting all three fruit flavors (strawberry, lemon, mango). I will say I appreciated the menu for having more than 1 non-dairy option because I definitely have lactose intolerant friends who would looove this place. Flavor wise, my husband, the self proclaimed "fruit boi", loved all of the flavors he got plus the two I had ordered. I will say I liked his but I am more of a chocolate/coffee girl so I definitely enjoyed my flavors more. The texture of the gelato was smooth, airy, and perfectly sweet without being overwhelming. We also could not resist the cases of gelato and absolutely had to take a pint of the hojicha crunch home. My only regret is that we didn't grab more since it is a limited edition collab. There are some seats inside with some chairs/tables outside as well though mostly a grab and walk kind of spot. Parking is street parking though you should be able to find something on the block rather easily. Service was super friendly and prices are very fair for quality. SE Division is a veritable mecca of sugar. I think this is good--in order to survive among the competition, each place has to be excellent and has to offer a unique draw. In Pinolo's case, the draw is authentic Italian-style gelato made with quality ingredients. The gelato was as good as any I've had during my visits to Italy, and there are a combination of traditional flavors and creative ones. There are also several nondairy options. Everything we tried was delicious. Service was a little brusque (not rude) because there was a long line, probably partly due to recent newspaper coverage of the place. The interior setting is very cute, and there are several outdoor tables as well. Serving sizes are a little on the small side, but you do get two flavors with the small and three with the medium, which is nice. Price is a tad high, but justified by the high quality ingredients. We'll be making this a regular stop on our sugar pilgrimages. read more

We recently tried this amazing gelato place!! They had good service, moved the line mostly efficiently but also let you try samples before you chose. There was a long line out the door and the location of the door is a little awkward, I think they haven't quite caught up with their increased popularity. Decide to try this out as it is a cute little shop off Division. Walking in, you could see the quaint shop and we were greeted with friendly faces. As it was our first time, we were encouraged to try every flavor and multiple times, if wanted. Met the gelato maker, who hails from Europe, who told us a bit about how he makes the gelato. The gelato was decadent and so smooth. Each flavor was very rich and could tell it wasn't airy. I typically like fruity flavors, but everything here was delicious. So so delicious! They have a standard menu of flavors with some seasonal flavors too! I love that the staff helps with samples and are knowledgeable about each one. My go-to flavor is the hazelnut one - and I get the "small" size so I can pair it with one of the seasonal flavors! (small size can have two flavors) Although minimal, the seating area is cozy.
