Love me an independent cafe located in a small town with locals and passer-byers filling the chairs and booths, giving one a sense that the "food must good"! This place fits that profile pretty well. We walked in and heads turned to see what was coming through the door and after a moment blank looks turned to smiles and we were greeted and seated. After checking through the menu it was decided that we would eat here and glad we did. I ordered the New Mexico breakfast - tamale, Chile relleno, beans, tortillas, and topped with two eggs. I asked and received both the red and green Chile sauce. The green was full of flavor and had a little kick, the red was a deep flavored sauce, not to spicy. My friend had a cup of oatmeal and a Chile replenish with green sauce, and basically licked his plate clean! Service was good, the place was busy but Haley managed to treat us very well and attend to our needs and wants, despite the restaurant being out of a few things, namely champagne to make the mimosas :( In summary, good food, friendly atmosphere, good service, fair prices. read more

This is definitely a local spot for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The staff was younger but super friendly. The prices were good. I did takeout and it took a bit for what I ordered. I would recommend this hot restaurant for sure. read more

Service is spot on. Very friendly and polite. I came for a late breakfast. Got the huevos rancheros. Different take on a classic. Came with shredded beef and beans. Choice of red or green chile. It was really good. Also came with a large portion of hashbrowns. Will stop for lunch next time I am in town. read more

Had breakfast this morning. Didn't get any photos unfortunately. Service was ok. Had to get up three times to ask for items and waitress was scrolling on her phone. The host or drink person wasn't very personable and kinda snappy. The eggs were good and fresh. The potatoes seemed Luke warm and possibly cooked previously and kept on the flat top or not warmed well. Toast was stale very stale. Coffee is good. The interior is nice. Just slow going g restaurant. This doesn't reflect on dinner. Service is still sub par but the food for dinner is amazing. The red and green chili are amazingly delicious. I would stay away for breakfast though. Total 2/10 for breakfast. read more

Been two years since here; server took drink orders and asked if we wanted chips and salsa. We also asked for water. Second server asked for drink orders and we told her we already ordered. Gave her food orders. We never got drinks, chips, water or setups. Had to ask the busboy for those. Second server said drink orders were never put in so she ordered them. Chips came with no water or setups so asked again. Drinks finally came after about 20-25 mins. Food came and the tortillas around chimichangas were so tough you couldn't saw through them so we picked the meat out and ate just that. The server was so busy chatting with her regular friends that she never came back once to ask if everything was ok, if we wanted anything else, and more importantly for the owners' income, if we wanted another drink (where they make their money!). Even cashing out, the checker and our server were at the counter and never asked about our service and food. In fact she took a call and continued her conversation, totally ignoring us, so we walked out. Something has definitely gone very wrong with this place and we'll never be back. read more

We've been frequenting Booga's for over 30 years for either breakfast or lunch. Great food but it's gotten too pricey for us. Plus we each had a domestic beer with lunch and 2 beers were $12. Really? A 24 pack is $20 and you charge $6 a beer. Price gouging. read more

Food is some what bland with no real spice to the dishes but it's not bad. If your looking for non Mexican, Mexican food than this is your spot. The main cook is a genius if they would only let him add his flavor to the food. Ask him for his home made chili! That's the real secret . read more

Food and service were both ok, I had a 15-minute wait before I was sat down by a very young child, maybe 12 years old. After another 5 minutes or so, another young girl came and got my drink order. I had a 16-oz coors light and a water. I was shocked to later find out this young girl who took my alcohol drink order, was only 13. I felt mortified for giving her my order, knowing this was illegal. The food was worth the wait. I won't go back to an establishment that promotes the illegal act of hiring a CHILD who is underage. read more

We stopped at this local spot after going to Lyman Lake. I ordered a cheeseburger & hubs ordered combo plate of Bean Tostada & Cheese Enchilada w/ green sauce. Burger was good. Nice, juicy & seasoned just right. Unfortunately, my fries were a little under done for my liking. Hubs enjoyed his food - "it's a bean Tostada & enchilada, really can't mess it up." One of the worst dining experiences I've had in my life. Staff seemed totally disorganized. 20 minutes after we ordered they told my wife they were out of steak and she would have to order something else. She ordered two eggs because she didn't want to hold up the meals for everyone else. They never came. Coffee never came. They apologized and said they'd bring some no charge. No creamer offered. When I finally went and got some we realized they gave us all black tea. Tortilla given with Mexican breakfast was 3" diameter...and only one of those. Come on! How cheap can you get! Prices on menu were wrong. Higher than on menu. Apparently there was a sign on the door. I didn't see it and nothing was said when we ordered. I could go on and on but I'm out of space. Waitress was cute and friendly and apologetic so she got a fair tip because I felt sorry for her. I'm a local for 30 years and that's my last time. Poor management, no respect for food, restaurant was near empty with very few to-go orders but it still took 45+ minutes to get our food. The gas started last night and is still going strong this morning (with many, many bathroom stops!). WAY OVER PRICED. THE ONLINE MENU IS INCREDIBLY INACCURATE! Our server was nice and I felt bad that she seamed to be trying hard, without the backing of management or kitchen. DO NOT ORDER THE 8-LAYER BURRITO. First, it was a very small burrito. Second, it was over $11! Third (but most important) it was literally (LITERALLY) the worst burrito I have ever eaten. It was mostly warm iceberg lettuce, and I had to look to see if there was even meat. It was as if they had boiled it, without even salt. It was a flavorless sponge material. The side salad was more shredded iceberg lettuce with a few small diced tomato pieces. I am not sure their cooks have every eaten Mexican food but if they have, that just makes it all the more pathetic. The strongest and nearly only flavor was the sour cream. My girlfriend's tacos weren't much better. We were incredibly hungry, it was our first meal that day (late dinner) and she couldn't even get past the first one. The meat (again) tasted like it was canned boiled chicken. Her beef taco was obviously a quarter of an unseasoned hamburger patty. Her mom had an enchilada with barely any cheese, and canned beans... Equally as disappointing. Now for the appetizer. We were offered fried zucchini and mushrooms. It wasn't on the written menu and no price was mentioned. HOLY. COW. What we got was a SMALL handful of fried pickle chips, mushrooms, and string cheese bits. This school lunch quality fair was nearly $12.00!, which we didn't find out until we got the bill. There was also a City tax on top of the heavy prices, leaving us with a $56 bill (after they took a few dollars off for the mistakes, and after a 5% military discount, and not including the tip for our server, who really was trying) With so many other options to choose from, even in such a small town, don't do this to yourself. Friendly Staff, Decent Food... So this will be a short review... I had the 8 layer burrito and it was decent, good food, nothing exciting. They give you chips and salsa complimentary which is cool. The salsa isn't like what I make at home... A pretty standard out of the bottle style sauce with no chunks and not a ton of flavor. The kids working here were all polite and did a good job. I really wish I could give it 5 stars, since the food was great! However, the service was quite bad. We almost felt like we were a bother to the staff. We were brought the sauce and chips but no bowls for the sauce. When I waved one of the waitresses for help, she said "just a minute " and never returned. I finally had to get up and go ask at the desk for the mini bowls. Our main server was polite. So, if you like great food and don't mind mediocre service, than I do highly recommend this place! read more

Food is good but dagum, they up charge on small stuff like ranch and sour cream even they don't list it on their menus. I hate being nickel and dime especially when it's not listed on the menu. I was told that it's their protocol and they had a meeting about it and have to charge. I'd say steer clear for this reason or anticipate paying more than you expect. read more

Excellent food! Excellent service! All on a Monday night. A very large party of locals, over 20 had just come in before us but the staff were still very friendly and attentive. Several staff checked on us and let us know they would be with us soon, but quickly got us water and an excellent Margarita. Chips and hot sauce were delicious as were the enchiladas and green chili sauce was to die for!!! All in all it was an excellent experience and we will definitely go back again! We went around back to the cantina which looks like it's been recently upgraded with new tables and chairs. It is small and quaint and a more intimate experience than the main dining rooms. The bartender was nice and friendly and efficient. The drinks were delicious. We ate and obscene amount of chips and salsa. The burritos were to die for. Excellent food and service!!!! read more

We used to enjoy Booga Reds, but they have really gone downhill. My favorite had always been their taco salad. It usually had fresh ingredients, and fresh, hot, ground beef. The last time we were there, the lettuce was warm and browning. But the worse part was the "ground beef." The "cook" decided to use a leftover old, cold, hamburger patty, chopped into big chunks. IT WAS AWFUL. The waiter offered to replace it, but I was so angry I told him I didn't trust the cook. Plus, they are very high priced for what they are. I was surprised at how good this restaurant was. We stopped for breakfast and I had the Huevos Rancheros and my partner had the lumber Jack special. We both really enjoyed our food. The portions are big. I'm picky so I asked for no meat, no onions, no flour tortilla, easy green, and my eggs over medium. It came out exactly the way I wanted it. I don't think that has happened at any other restaurant. I'll definitely return to this place if I go through Springerville again. read more

One star because the food was good, but the service was terrible. We had to flag down a server to take our food order while watching other patrons that sat down after us get their orders in. Then we had to flag down our server to get some chips and salsa, and a 3rd time to get a drink refill. The only time the server came to our table on his own was to bring us the check. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told that there wasn't one there! When paying my check, I asked who was responsible for the place and I was told one of the female servers was, but she was busy. I wasn't going to waste anymore time! I don't get to Springerville often, but when I do I always want to eat at Booga Reds and I USED to rave to others about it. I reckon that won't be the case anymore. read more
