Wayback Burgers earns my "Rembarkably Unremarkable" badge. I'm in town for work, and some of the local staff suggested heading to Wayback for a quick lunch. Walking in, ordering can be done either via the digital kiosk or (my preference) in person at the register. At the suggestion of the friendly staff, I got the CLASSIC BURGER COCA-COLA COMBO. A Classic Burger (two beef patties, American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mustard, and Heinz® ketchup) is paired with a regular size French Fry, and a 22oz Coca-Cola Beverage of your choice. I watched as the cooks placed fresh not frozen beef patties on the flat top grill; which is always nice to know your meal is prepared at the time of ordering. Wait time was about 4-6 minutes, which isn't bad. Make no mistake, this is NOT health food! The grease is seeping through the wax paper, letting you know you're in for a calorie bomb. The beef patties have a semi-smash burger texture. The edges are crispy, while the meat towards the center stays moist. Typical toppings complemented the burger, with the lettuce not being soggy. Fries could've been more crisp. After wolfing down the meal since we needed to head back to the office, I was ready for a nap. If you're in this part of Edmond, and are looking for a reliable burger joint, Wayback is a good choice. My classic burger coke combo with tax was just under $15. read more

This is the first time I have been back here since new owners took over and I have to say I'm very impressed. The food was excellent and I was really impressed with two young ladies who were running the show tonight. My family came and we had four distinct and different burgers and each one was made just as we wanted. I also appreciate it on how the bacon cheeseburger there was so much bacon. They were definitely not chintzy at all and I'm always impressed when every bite has a good amount of bacon. My wife who is gluten-free just got a lettuce wrap with her burger and definitely enjoyed it. Overall, the new changes are definitely worth another trip. read more

If you like grease, this is the place for you. My wife and I ordered takeout from there today, with the idea to eat at the park. The restaurant was so smoky from grease I would have turned around had we not already paid. By the time we got to the park two miles away, the grease from the burgers had soaked completely through the bag and had left a grease smear on our new leather seats. The guy at the register compared their food to Sonic and he made a valid point. It was nothing special and some aspects were kinda gross. Everything was sticky and dirty. Their cheese sauce is cheese whiz and had hard clumps in it so not great. The Bergers were okay, super small and kinda soggy, even half the price would have been overpriced. The guy automatically rang us up for combos even though we just asked for one fry to share Their bacon is as thin as paper and flavorless as well. Burger was disappointing. Patty had almost no sear on it. Combine that with unseasoned, cheap, flavorless beef and you've got a loser burger. So many burger joints smash beef these days for that nice even sear. But here the beef is packed very loosely and there is so much oil on the griddle they are basically fried. No good. I had their onion rings and fries as well. Onion rings were super greasy inside, overcooked and hard outside. I'm not a fan. Fries were unspectacular for fresh cut. Wayback is fast casual with counter service, burgers fresh and cooked to order. So don't expect them to be fast. Especially with only two people working. Going to update my review from several months ago. Might even be a year or more honestly. Our last experience was fantastically horrid. This experience was refreshing. They have obviously down something to change gears and get more with the customer service program. We were greeted immediately upon entering and the staff member behind the counter was ready in good time to take our order. He was friendly and able to offer selection choices and side options. It was busy so we did have to wait for our food. As long as the atmosphere is pleasant I don't mind waiting. Music was playing and it was current and not "old fogey" stuff. Although we could definitely hear the music it was not too loud. Our food was brought to the table hot and fresh. The taste was as it should have been with no bad surprises. read more

I would say they seemed short staff, but there were 6 employees behind the counter. When our name was finally called, the food was cold. No employee acknowledge the wait time. The roads are icy and I'm refusing to go outside until the temp is above freezing, so DoorDash it is... last night they closed early due to the ice. So I decided to try again today. I was actually extremely impressed. The prices Are very reasonable. The food was fresh. The grilled chicken sandwich was one of the best I have had. And the "wayback gold" sauce was amazing. Overall, I really liked it. We will have to try it in person. The only reason for the loss of a star is because I specifically stated that I wanted no ice in the soda and there was ice. I don't know if they were having an off day, but it was my first time ordering at Wayback and it was an awful experience. There was (what seemed like) only one person ahead of me ordering but I ended up waiting 30 mins for a burger and fries. The staff seemed distracted and disorganized. I saw one of the workers after handling money at the register, touch the buns with his bare dirty hands. I called him out on it and proceeded to watch how they cooked my order. They had forgotten my order of fries so by the time I had gotten my order, and so I waited again. The fries were hot but the burger was cold. My wife and I had dinner at Way back burger. I had the Cheesy and wife had the Philly burger. The we shared the Mac and cheese bites. If you looking for fast food crew Steal these guys. The 3 gentlemen that were working werevey polite and helpful. Some of the best.. Ok.. now for the food. I am perplexed here. VERY greasy but also very good. My cardiologist would not approve. So I'm placing an order at my favorite burger place. it's local and I've probably went there at least 25 times in the last year. I consider myself a regular. so when I placed an order today and started with my basic order I got met with a new voice belonging to Ariane, I started off with one of the most basic restaurant questions "what's the wait" I got Met with one of the combative responses being "that's not how it works" excuse me?? When you go into a restaurant and are about to order I think you would wanna know how long you would have to wait! I have a short lunch break I don't have time to wait 20+ minutes for a sandwich not including the drive. So I ask the basic question of how much is the wait? I'm expecting 10 minutes or less. Instead I get met with a snappy response. Whatever maybe they are having a bad day. It's ok it happens. I go on to place my order, and since my name is spelt unique after I'm done ordering I go to spell my name, I am RUDELY interrupted and have my name spelt wrong. I tell the woman "you interrupted me and spelt my name wrong" and then continue to spell my name so I can completely the order I then hear a grumble and then hung up in face. I was ready to pay. I go here alot. And I've done the same process with multiple other people with no issue. Instead I get hung up in my face. That is horrible customer service. I tried to be understanding and instead I have to inconvenience myself and go eat somewhere I didn't wanna eat. Unprofessional and unbecoming. Not a great first impression. The two employees seemed disorganized behind the counter. It took a couple of minutes for someone to take our order (there were no other customers) then it took forever to make three burgers, 1, mac and cheese bites, 1 onion rings and 1 small fries and 2 shakes. While the burger was "ok", the bun was cold and my bacon cheese burger was just a cheese burger. Missing bacon. When the food was delivered, my meal was missing the fries, and they forgot to bring them out until I went back up to ask for them. Good Basic Burgers Wayback offers good basic burgers and fries. Better than the big chains. You can pick your toppings and the burgers are tasty.
