Came over to have some drinks with friends after they got off work. Nice environment, very laid back. They have Happy hour and offer several drinks on special. I ordered a mule, which was very tasty and made just right and served in a copper mug. The lemon drop martini could have been better but it seems that craft beer is what this quaint establishment is known for, so, no real complaints here. The pizza was very good, fried pickles were yummy and the service was friendly and fast. This place was full, adults and kids alike.. very family friendly. This is one of my go to spots. Everything on the menu is amazing. Some of my faves are the chicken fried chicken, spinach dip, all their pizzas. They have a lot of beers on tap and a full bar. It's a bar with pizzas, other Italian food and some American food. MANY people love the place and for the life of me I can't figure out why, unless they're big drinkers and then this place charges too much for alcohol. You can tell it's loved based on the amazing number of cars in the parking lot. My picture doesn't come close to doing the lot justice. We came here about 15 years ago and never came back until a couple (this is their favorite place) invited us to join them here, probably three years ago. That night I was focused on friends and conversation so I have no memory of the meal. It amazes me how we can be such good friends with people who are ecstatic about things we don't like. We decided to give Boondoggles another try -- mistake! Let's take it from the top. It's dark. Not dark enough to grope your wife or your friend's wife but pretty dark. The servers aren't terrible but they're less than inspiring. Their real menu is not the same as their web menu -- you may as well not think about looking at that. Based on the web menu, we had decided on their chicken fried ribeye. They don't have it. I had chosen a backup of Italian sausage with rigatoni. They don't have that either. They have Italian sausage with penne pasta, so we got that. I'm not a big fan of penne pasta. Since we didn't find any other entree on the real menu we could agree on we ordered the pasta chips appetizer. It was okay with the marinara dip, but it was mostly filling without being satisfying. We went there because I could get a martini. There are only a few places in the Clear Lake area where you can get a real meal and a martini. I have never paid more for a martini that I can remember and never that much for such a stingy one. They charge you twice for a martini once for the martini and once more for something else, maybe the cold glass or pouring it, I can't remember. You can look at my picture to see how stingy it was. They really shouldn't put such a small martini in such a large glass -- it's like they want to rub in the insult. We won't be back unless the same friends insist and I won't get a drink and maybe I bring takeout from somewhere else. __ We've eaten out every meal for more than 30 years. read more

This is a fun neighborhood bar. There is a large outdoor patio and two-level indoor seating. They have a pizza oven and change the pizzas all the time. Inside There is a cozy fireplace and open-area seating which is great for groups or entertaining. Multiple TV's to watch sports scattered throughout bar and dining area. Pizza! I come here for the Pizza! more specifically I come here for the Tejas Pizza. It comes with Texas goat cheese, Chorizo, andouille sausage, onions, romano and provolone cheese. I like to get it with sour cream and jalapenos on the side, you have to ask for that, it doesn't just automatically come with it. It seems like it would be an odd combo of flavors but its really just so delicious. the dough is perfect and holds all the ingredients pretty well. Another thing I love from here is the appetizer dish, the Ceviche. Ill get it as my meal sometimes and not just an appetizer. It comes with Fresh shrimp, scallops, tomato, cilantro, onions, lettuce and its in lime juice and its topped with avocado, and served with chips. You can really tell that the seafood in it is very fresh. Its all marinated in the lime juice and it goes really well with the avocado. The Chicken Fried Ribeye is great too. its fried just perfectly and the breading sticks to the meat, it doesn't fall off like some places. It comes with this homemade Jalapeno and Bacon cream gravy and its heavenly. I always ask for extra gravy for the garlic mashed potatoes that it comes with. read more

Unlike others, I had some decent service from the Boondoggle's staff. However, the food was mediocre. I ordered a Reuben sandwich and pizza to go. The Reuben was average but considering the price, I thought it was kind of a ripoff. The pizza was the real disappointment. I brought it home for my kids and they wouldn't eat it. I was shocked because I was told they had some of the best pizza in the area. But then I tried for myself and agreed with my kids. Someone recommended Boondoggles to me so I really was expecting much more. But after reading some of the reviews, I can see I'm not alone in thinking that is place isn't very good and is way too expensive for what you get. Probably not coming back. read more

Disappointed. My Ultimate team has enjoyed a pint and food after playing since Boonies opened many years ago. Due to a change in direction they have decided to close the kitchen at 10 and the business at 11pm. That information was disseminated over the last few months and we were very understanding when approached. Tonight, we showed up at 9:45 and were told they already have called last call for the kitchen. It was a very curt comment and did not go over well. We managed to convince staff that it was not 10:00 and we were told previously the kitchen did not close till then. At 10:45 all the TV's we returned off and every chair turned over on its tables except for our table. Did we get service? Yes. Did we feel like we weren't welcome? That would be an understatement. Time to update as I've been here a few more times, and have sat inside and out. I've come here for happy hour after work, and for lunch. The food is fantastic...and the beer is always cold. Service is fantastic and the lunch specials are great! Thursdays lunch special is a chicken bacon wrap that is phenomenal! I get it with their chips, but you can get fries. But don't. The chips are made in house and are freaking delicious! You get a huge wrap, and chips for $7.52. That is amazing....and the price of a greasy fast food combo and this is so much better! The lunch pizza is delicious as well...a little pricier but still a great deal and so good! They have some of the best pizza around! I would come here for a date night, or a girl's night out, or just for whatever. Great food, great service, and cold beer. What more can you ask for? read more

Honestly, my favorite restaurant in the Clear Lake area, and well, ok, the world probably. I have no idea why I haven't written a review yet. Perhaps I didn't think I could do it justice. Best description of Boondoggles: I have never had or been with someone who has had anything that wasn't great. My favorite: Spicy Chicken Wings (16), basket of fries, and a cold beer. (get an extra cup of buffalo sauce for even more friendly fire) Why? Chicken wings: real chicken wings, not the tiny pigeon wings that Buffalo WWs gives you, but large thick, perfectly crisped and sauced. French Fries? Best anywhere in the world. Trust me. Texas Tuesday: $0.35 wings is even better Other greats: Wood fired pizza is amazing. Quattro Formaggio is my favorite. I've had the John Dough (pepperoni), Jambalaya (lots of stuff), Margherita, Robusto and Mediterranean and loved them all. Ceviche: delicious and fresh. Fried Pickles: good portion. Very good. Bruschetta: they've changed and it is very filling and full of flavors. Chicken Strips: kids love them and so do adults Fish & Chips: Slightly changing this part of the review. They had a very generic fish strips the last time I got it. It was not longer the very crispy, classic British fish with the dark brown bubbled battering that is so good (especially with malt vinegar). It was still good, but not the same. 40+ beers on draft. Great pub atmosphere with tons of TVs for sports, outdoor tables with bar and large flat screen. Don't forget Crawfish time. Great spice and portions. The Best of the Best. Love me some Boondoggles! UPDATE: (02/13/15) Just got back from taking my two kids to Boondoggles. Love. Got my classic 16 wings. Son got the kids pepperoni pizza. Between declarations of "greatest pizza ever" he shared a piece. Even for the kids they put the dedication of flavor and crisp crust. Same for my daughter's burger. So many spices and flavors from a (large) "kid's" burger and a perfect bun. Plus with my new metal stein, the Beer is somehow even better. read more

Hubs and I were looking for somewhere different to grab a beer and enjoy some grub, while discussing business strategies and plans. We opted to go to Boondoggles because I had never been. The place itself is extremely casual, which is cool because I was dressed liked a bum (it was my day off so that's pretty typical. LOL) I opted to get Goose/Soda instead of a beer, but hubs ordered some sort of apple cider. It was way better than either of us thought it would be, as these tend to be extremely heavy on the beer taste and tart. We opted to split a pizza. It was ok, but nothing spectacular. Again, just hanging out discussing our business and other random things. So that in itself made this a great place. Can't say I would be back for the food, but for the bar itself, most definitely! read more

Whaaaaat how in the world has this place escaped my radar for so long?? My friends and I frequently visit Chelsea Wine Bar, which is right next door to this somewhat sketchy looking place simply named "Pub" according to the only visible exterior sign. Lo and behold, this pub is actually Boondoggle's! A place I've heard mentioned frequently through word of mouth. Huh. Who'd have thunk it? Good selection of brews and ciders - they have Crispin on tap! I'm the furthest from a beer expert, so I'll leave that judgment for some other yelper, but there are certainly a loooot of options to choose from. The food offerings are definitely an edge this place has up on Chelsea. It's your typical pub food at a much more affordable price, unlike Chelsea with their fancyschmancy cheese/meat platters and panini sandwiches. (Don't get me wrong, I still love those platters!!) We found ourselves hungry for some real food so we finished our sangrias at Chelsea and popped by over here to Boondoggle's. Methinks floating between the two places is common, as I overheard some other patrons at Chelsea mention just coming over from Boondoggle. Can I just say that I love the fact that their pizza is oven baked?? Legit. Fried pickles were delish. I'm a fan of chips over spears, so stamp of approval from me! Fried mushrooms also good - comes served with your choice of ranch or country gravy (or both). Fish and chips - VERY generous portions! Fries were decent. My friend said he thought the fish were a little bland, but he's a fish & chip fanatic. To most people, it'd probably taste alright. Service seemed good. Our server was nice. She accidentally turned off the lights for our little corner of the room and, when she realized, she was super apologetic about it. Didn't even really bother us, as there was ample lighting around the rest of the place still. Shared parking lot with Chelsea. Hence the convenience of floating between the two. Definitely one of the better establishments in the Clear Lake/Seabrook area. My suggested game plan is to hit up Boondoggle's for snacks and other noms, then head over to Chelsea to get a glass or a pint and chill and sip slowly. C'est parfait! read more
