I came here on a weekend around 0930 with a large group. Wait time was about 15 minutes. I ordered the vegetable omelette which was good. I liked how they used the cheery tomatoes and fresh ingredients. It was perfectly cooked. I ordered the side of hash browns and liked how it wasn't salty. The only thing was that hash browns were lukewarm in the inside. This restaurant is pricier than other breakfast places, around $30 for breakfast and coffee for mine.

Very solid breakfast spot. The item that keeps me coming back is the liliko'i pancakes. I've tried all the other popular breakfast spots but this one hits different. The food is above average and usually I go with the loco moco but decided not to this time. But definitely try their loco moco. I believe the kailua location is the original location and looks better than this one but, this location no need for a wait. Was in the area and decided to try this spot coz of the reviews. The reviews held up, [[HIGHLIGHT]]really good food, service and island ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Came in on Sunday at 0745 and we beat the rush. Had a wait around 0820. Had the secret menu moco combo. This tasted really good. Just wish it had more corned beef hash. The pancakes were cooked very well...fluffy, buttery and just delicious. The portion sizes are huge. We went with our servers recommendation to order two main plates savory and sweet to share amongst 3 of us. This with two sides of hash browns and bacon worked great. We ate it all and weren't over full. Highly recommend this.

This place was pretty decent. I messed with the Lillikoi pancakes but I was expecting it to be a bit sweeter and less sour. Came here for a Saturday brunch an hour before closing, surprisingly it wasn't busy. Service was prompt & we started off with lilikoi pancakes, loco moco, and French toast. The pancakes were amazingly light and fluffy. The loco moco gravy was the best on island I've had so far. We wanted to sub white rice for fried but they ran out since we came so late in the day. Came for the sunrise special, specifically likikoi pancakes. Food is solid. It's kind of pricey in my opinion for a breakfast. About $20/ person before tips (lilikoi sauce is +$3, used to be +$2). Gosh the brunch here was sooooo delicious! Was just what we were lookin for, classic Hawaiian brunch wit incredible pancakes! I'll be missing the Lilikoi pancakes until I return. Cored beef hash was out of this world. Parking lot is lie $2-3 i think. Not bad! They all have a great drink selection both alcohol and non alcoholic.

She was very attentive and gave us recommendations on her menu favorites. I got the lilikoi pancakes and the moke nui omelette with hashbrowns. The hashbrowns were crispy and not salty at all. I really enjoyed it. The lilikoi pancakes were SO good! I honestly loved this more than the omelette. It was light, fluffy, and not overly sweet. The server recommended it, so we just got it to try and we were so surprised that we loved it. I would definitely order this again.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Smallish, unassuming spot. Ambiance reminds of a slightly updated local diner feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The breakfast menu provides plenty of options - sweet, savory, and local favorites. Loco Moco with optional fried rice sounded delicious. The gravy was very good, fried rice was a great adder, and the burger patty was flavorful. Service was good as well. Although I didn't try them, the pancakes were quite popular and looked really good. N*joy!

Great yummy food, highly recommend. Wanted to try a new place for brunch, saw the yelp good ratings. Came about noon. Had to wait a little bit for a table for two. Coffee was good, nice start. Omelet was very tasty--the accompanying Hashbrowns were without exception some of the best we've ever had. They were at least 2" high, fried just right, crispy (not burnt) moist potatoes--cooked perfectly. The cinnamon French toast was delicious. Will definitely come again. Parking is metered parking on the street, did not take too long to find a spot. Sure would like to try their pork hash--next time, have to come early.

Had a late breakfast at around 1130am. Decided on Moke's Bread and Breakfast in Kaimuki. I enjoyed a different location before. The music playing is loud. The menu is a little smaller than past menus. The lunch salads was appealing but I decided on breakfast. The description of the homemade corned beef hash sounded great but what I received was a pinkish looking patty. I took a picture of what the corned beef patty looked like when broken open. I was hungry so I did eat it but it seemed to be ground up and reconstituted into a patty. It did not look like it came from a brisket. It has a very salty taste as well. I did add shoyu to my rice without tasting the corned beef hash first. Eating the corned beef with the toast did balance out the salt with the bread. The service was courteous and helpful. There was no waiting time. We were seated in a spacious table. Liked the various photos of Diamond Head Crater with various cloud and shadows. Good ambiance in the restaurant.

NEW GO TO - Love this place! We had the Loco Moco with fried rice and an extra side of Portuguese sausage and boy was it delicious. Over easy egg on top of a beef patty on top of fried rice and gravy all around. The only thing I would change is the beef patty, it was very thin and small.... otherwise, it was great. And the Portuguese sausage was very tasty! Would I go back? YES!! read more

A not too secret spot. We were here for a late breakfast and they were plenty busy. Very casual and mostly locals. You gotta want it. A hike up steep stairs and about 10-15 min wait for a table. Boy,was it worth it. The Liliko'i pancakes were light and fluffy with an amazing sauce. I took half-hone and they were great snack the next day. Hubby had the Sunrise breakfast. That biscuit totally made it. Good coffee. Absolutely adorable server. There was no waiting for anything. We will revisit before we go home. It's that good. read more

Bad breakfast experience. At the time that I went the restaurant wasn't super busy. We waited about 30 minutes to get our food. Pretty standard fare, so no pics. Ordered my Portuguese well done and it came with no caemelization...just heated up. Didn't take it back because we just waited too long and didn't want to spend half our morning there. Hash browns came out burnt--not crispy, just hard: Eggs and ham were fine, but rye toast (one very small piece, btw They used to put two slices on the plate, now just one) was hard as a rock and barely buttered. Couldn't use it to absorb yolk. Bummer. Lilikoi pancakes were good, not too sweet. As for the service, it was ok but the waiter was kind of a jerk. Also, make sure you hit "custom" for the tip: They set the setting to start at 19%!! Like I said, bad experience. read more

Rumor has it - best lilikoi pancakes on island And the rumors are true! When worked in the area, a few of my customers mentioned this place. Bookmarked for later! Yelp BFF and I were in the neighborhood and noticed the wait wasn't too bad, so we popped in for brunch. I ordered the lilikoi pancakes and Yelp BFF got one of the stuffed hashbrowns (it peeked our interest) Service is a bit slow because there was only a couple of people working, so be patient. The pancakes were super fluffy and drenched in delicious and creamy lilikoi sauce. I'm in heaven! The stuffed hashbrown is essentially an omelet wrapped in hash and cheese. This spot is great for breakfast if you're driving around the area. I got the Loco Moco, which had really good gravy flavor, and the lilikoi pancakes, which were drizzled with an amazing lilikoi sauce. Honestly, the sauce tastes like you could put it on anything and it would make it taste good. Great service and vibes here. Definitely a spot worth trying if you're around the area. read more

Just go here ok? Come on now. Just look at the pics. Look at that combo loco moco. We had to get it with the meat eaters on our table. It went super well with the pancakes and my sister got the veggie omelet which was equally delicious. There was a little bit of a wait, but not that long and it keeps us posted really well. It is a small restaurant, but it was clean and cozy . The weight staff was very kind and came to check on us often even though the restaurant was packed I would definitely come back again, and I wish that they were closer to where we live! read more

I was really disappointed with this experience. Bread was almost rubbery. Tried to take a bite and couldn't bite through it. So I didn't eat it. Corn beef hash looked like cat food, and tasted off. Eggs and has brown where good. Waited 30minutes which I didn't think was bad for some local places. Also our server had his back to us for most of the time and never checked on us. We had to go up and ask for our bill then go up to get the card ran. read more

We were craving breakfast food this morning and decided to come to Moke's! We went around 10am and thankfully there was no line. My favorite dish was definitely the Lilikoi Pancake! It pairs so well with their black coffee. I love the zestyness and refreshing notes from the sauce on top! Also the pancake was fluffy and warm too. As for the hashbrown I wasn't a huge fan of it and the main reason for that is because 1. It got cold really quickly and 2. Once everything got cold fast everything became soggy and stale.. Overall, Would I come back? Yes! I would love to try their other pancakes and honestly their coffee just pairs so nicely with the sweetness. And service was great as well. Came here after completing diamond head and I'm glad we did! We got here prob by 7:30am and we had no wait time. Probably after 15min the place was packed. My daughter got the basic traditional breakfast and I got the Loco Moke with fried rice, it was soooo good! We had a number of loco mocos this trip and Moke's has the best gravy for sure. The steak was cooked perfectly and really made this loco stand out from all the others we've tried. We also got the lilikoi pancakes and the sauce was soooooo flavorful and buttery, just wish there was more of it! Stopped by here after visiting the KCC Farmers Market as hubs wanted someplace to sit and eat. Been a while since we were last here. Short wait for an inside table when we arrived. We both got coffee and my boyfriend ordered off the secret menu online - The Jeff. The portions are huge, we could have split something! Omelette was good, hash browns were crispy but a little cold. The food first, it was ok. Nothing to wait 45 minutes in line for. Loco moco - patty was good but gravy could be better. 2 eggs over easy with bacon and biscuit. Biscuit was more like a scone than a biscuit but it was good. Corned beef with hash and eggs, it was ok. Mokapu omelette was meh at best. Lilikoi and Mango pancakes - both were pretty good. It's just a breakfast place with nothing that is amazing. Now to the wait, they seem fully staffed but just extremely inefficient. They are nice but tables left uncleaned while they chat it up. No issues with the food, but the staff is lacking manners. It almost feels like they don't care. Walked up and signed in for a table for 3 and I saw there was an empty table so I figured we would be seated pretty fast. I'm then told to wait in their "waiting room" around the corner with an attitude even though I was perfectly fine standing where I was. I would have had no issues waiting in their "waiting room" if they explained they didn't want us standing where we were standing for a reason. And of course we were even seated in the empty table I saw when we first arrived... Save your money. They don't care about your business or their customers. I would much rather eat somewhere where the people actually care about their paying customers. read more

Second location, just as good as the first. The staff there are so warm and friendly. We celebrated my mother's 92nd birthday. It sure did not disappoint. I ordered my usual corned beef hash, easy over eggs with hashbrowns and dark rye bread. It was delicious although I think the recipe for the corned beef has changed but still very delicious. Also the Lilikoi pancakes which is a staple for every table is still very light moist and delicious. You can find this little cafe in kaimuki ~ parking in the 11th Avenue municipal parking lot. This place does get busy, we got there for breakfast but also serves lunch too, a few tables outdoor as well as indoor. Great service and a clean place! The food was really delish. Husband had the Hana Koa Rice Breaker, which is one of his favorites as its smooth and pairs well with honestly anything. Entree: You will be missing out if you don't get the lemon risotto. I ordered it with the prosciutto and it may be one of the best meals I've had in Hawaii. The zucchini is done two ways in it: diced to be mixed in with the risotto and thinly sliced and grilled on top of the risotto. The panko crumbs on top really solidified the plate for me as top tier as risotto can get to be boring to eat after a few bites as they can lack texture, but not this risotto! Every bite was a journey and it was a very filling meal. My husband ordered the Korean steak and said it was better than some of the local steakhouses we had gone to. Our friend ordered the spaghetti carbonara and enjoyed it as well. Dessert: We were encouraged to try the Rocky Road ice cream and decided it was a must have when you visit. It was creamy, rich and delectable. We also opted to try the dessert special of the evening which was a Lilikoi cheesecake with a chocolate mousse. The Miss: Tried the French toast and... meh. It looked great on the plate but tasted dry and definitely didn't live up to the level of the other dishes. Might've just been an off day or a matter of personal taste, but I'd skip it next time.

Yes, the prices are higher and portion sizes are smaller than what you get, but it's for the view and entertainment. Our servers were attentive and were very good about refilling our water cups, which I really appreciated. Henry Kapono was great, and after we were done with our meal, we went out to the patio to join folks who were enjoying the music. People were dancing in front of the stage area, socializing with other guests, and enjoying the wonderful weather, drinks, and music. What more can you ask for when you're visiting Hawaii? :)

There's just not any reason for less than 5 stars. Everything has been good. The Service, Taste and the price is Kailua. ....This is my review.. Owning my own restaurantS and coming from an area with an abundance of places and variety of restaurants is that there are so many different tastes. Even the wait wasn't that bad. What most likes and dislikes seem to focus on is personal taste and not what the Chefs ideas are, meaning what We are used to. Think about it, how does a new try become a favorite? Unfortunately, there isn't one place that is for everyone. I read reviews all the time and sometimes wonder where they actually eating at the right place. read more

Ordered to go, service was friendly, food was affordable priced. We ordered "made fresh from whole brisket" corned beef hash... the corned beef has same consistency as the canned stuff. Very disappointing pulling it apart looked like canned tuna with potatoes mixed in. Our hash browns were unseasoned and had no texture almost like cooked on a dry griddle. Our ribeye on the local Moke was decent, tender cut of meat, gravy was standard local moco brown gravy. They did get our over easy eggs right on all 3 plates which usually doesn't happen. Fried rice was ok, just tasted like black pepper.... For $45 it was a lot of food but I threw half of it away. read more

Lilikoi pancakes were amazing! Melts in your mouth. But after like 7-10 minutes, if you don't eat fast enough and the syrup dries out you'll need a glass of milk.
