Stopped by for a quick bite after Kualoa Ranch, just a few minutes south from Kualoa Ranch ticketing. We saw the whole chicken on bbq grill outside the restaurant on our way to Kualoa Ranch. 2 staff members were grilling the chicken in the heat- dedicated! They were nice too. The inside of the restaurant is actually clean and well-kept, which was unexpected based on their location and exterior. Nice and cool inside with many tables to dine at. They have restrooms towards the back of the restaurant. You stand in line to place your order, and then you can to-go or dine in. We ordered the whole huli huli chicken (doesn't come with sides unlike the half chicken plate), teriyaki rib eye beef plate, and the garlic shrimp. They give you the option to cut up the whole huli huli chicken into 4ths, 6ths, or 8ths(?), which is convenient. The chicken was well-cooked, very tender, and delicious! The teriyaki rib eye beef was OK- very thin. I wouldn't order this specific plate again. The garlic shrimp plate was delicious! I think the garlic shrimp here is much better than Giovanni's or any other place- very succulent and well-cooked. I also liked that they give you the option to keep the shell on or off, which is nice. The mac salad was good too- has little cucumber slices in it. Huli means "to flip over" which is exactly what we used to do when cooking the chicken. At Yummy Huli Huli Chicken, the chicken is more rotisserie over a pit. It's great to see the chicken cooking fresh and I think it adds to the charm. Inside the restaurant is very nice and new. There are lots of tables and it's really clean. The chicken is absolutely wonderful. My Dad and I shared a half chicken plate that had a scoop of rice and Mac salad. We both enjoyed it so much, we bought a whole chicken to take to our home and another whole chicken for my friend who just raves about this place. Service was great and full of aloha. You see, on this Veteran's Day holiday, we originally wanted to go to Kim Chee #1 as they are closing for good on 11/15/25 after 45 years in business. However, Deborah P. texted us advising the restaurant is closed on Tuesdays as they arrived early and saw their business hours posted on the door. This is also noted on Yelp, where I failed to check. The group text asked for suggestions for a replacement of venue so I did a search via Yelp for restaurants in the 96744. I wanted to follow Auntie (aka Nadine C.) in trying businesses we've never been to and came across YHHC. I saw that none of us wrote a review on here so I replied in the text to come here. Located in Coral Kingdom, YHHC was offered at their snack bar which was located in the back of the business but since 2020 when the pandemic took place, management strategically relocated YHHC to the front of the business where people can witness the smoke from cooking a Hawaiian staple, where chickens are butterflied in half and roasted over kiawe wood. Cooking the chicken requires 30mins, and the smoke attracts people and can be easily found when driving along Kamehameha Hwy. Bonus points for ample parking at Coral Kingdom. We arrived one by one and it was just after 11am where there were some people already eating. Menu is simple here where the options are limited to Huli Huli chicken, teriyaki beef, garlic shrimp, kalua pork with cabbage and fried fish plates. Huli Huli chicken and garlic shrimp are also offered as a side dish and you can also order the garlic shrimp with or without shell and regular or spicy. When ordering, you can order via kiosk or order at the counter with a staff. This was my first time here and needed human interaction so I stood in line and waited for my turn. I didn't see any combination options so I went #piggystatus by getting a Huli Huli chicken plate and a side of regular garlic shrimp with shells on. Plates come with a scoop each of rice and mac salad but for an up charge I got double mac salad. After paying, I was given a number and was advised my number will be called. The dining room is large with great air conditioning circulation. We sat down and waited for my number to be called. For those who order Huli Huli chicken, you got your food immediately as it's premade. But for Peter Y. and myself who ordered garlic shrimp, it's made to order so we waited about 10min before being called. After snapping photos, it was finally time to dig in and I was famished. THE VERDICT: I appreciated my food was temperature hot, the way I enjoy it. The chicken was tender, moist and flavorful. It came with a small container of dipping sauce which wasn't to my liking. It resembles teriyaki sauce, which most likely appeals to the out of town foot traffic. The garlic shrimp was tasty. It was plump and juicy. The shells were soft and I ended up eating shells and all. The shredded cabbage on the bottom soaked up the butter garlic sauce that was absolutely delicious. So why not 5-stars from me? The mac salad was not to my liking. As a local boy who enjoys mac salad, Best Foods mayonnaise is not used here. The seasoning was also off for my palate as I'm not a fan of sweet mac salad. I took couple of bites to confirm that this style of mac salad is not local style. We looked around and didn't see any other locals eating at YHHC. Everyone else during our stay of over one hour were tourists. That probably explains why I didn't come across any of my Yelp friends when scrolling the reviews prior to selecting this venue. As we left the restaurant at 12:45pm, it was quite packed with many families dining in. Impressive. Service was above average. The floor staff were very friendly. However, the counter female staff seemed a little overwhelmed as she almost made an error by not giving me my food but caught her error just before holding my order on the counter waiting for someone else. I showed her my receipt and confirmed it was indeed my order so she released my plates to me. Overall, a great find due to my negligence and will keep YHHC in mind next time I take out of town guests around the island. I really liked Yummy Huli Huli Chicken! It was super hyped up on TikTok and I decided to add it to our Hawaii itinerary! Right when you come to the establishment you will see them grilling the chicken outside and the atmosphere is great. When you walk inside, there is has lots of seating! The wait time was long but reasonably so and the service was okay! The food was very solid, one of my fav Mac's I've had as it is not too liquidy and has just the right amount of flavor! The chicken is tender and flavored well- the sauce that comes with it pairs super well!! We got the half chicken plate and shrimp plate! The shrimp was super garlicky and I loved the flavor!
