The ube pancakes are the main reason I keep coming back for breakfast. I always add the extra blueberries because they pair so well with the ube. Even though they look rich and super sweet, they're actually incredibly light and perfectly balanced. They're fluffy, not overly sweet, and I can easily finish the whole stack because they're just that good. I also tried the prime rib loco moco. It was decent, but my prime rib was a little on the tough side. Next time, I'll probably stick with the classic hamburger steak instead. The Denver omelette was amazing, though. Scrolling through my recent trip to see if I missed any reviews to be written. How did I not write one for YogurStory? I first discovered them back in February when I was craving ube pancakes. There's a lot of places claiming to offer the best ube pancakes so I thought to give it a try based on the reviews. There was a bit of a wait the first time, where you can join online. But it was too bad. I am SO glad I did because WOW. Wow wow wow! I was NOT expecting the pancakes to taste this freaking good. Don't let all the sauce deceive you into thinking it's just a box pancake mix with a lot of food dye. Also, it appears to be really sweet with it all coated in purple. But, TRUST ME. It was love at first bite. I nearly finished it all by myself but decide to share with the fam. The coconutty sweet potato taste was legit and natural tasting vs covering your tongue in an artificial taste. Absolutely looooooved this that when I went back home in search of Ube pancakes, there was none. So during this trip back for the 4th, I needed to go back for those pancakes. This time, there was no wait. It was around 1:30 on a random Monday and we were seated right away. I already knew what I wanted (obviously) but Hubs read my mind and ordered the short rib kalbi benny (as they were sold out of their corned beef hash). I avoided this place for way too long because I thought it was a frozen yogurt shop. Turns out they serve breakfast, lunch, and more. I was seriously impressed by food and service. Went with a group of 10 and we made a reservation a day prior. The portions are huge and absolutely worth the price. Everything we ordered was excellent. It's definitely the kind of meal that makes you want a nap afterward, but it's so good you'll have no regrets. We decided to go early and there was already a line! The wait was about 20 minutes. We are small people so we ordered Ala cart. We love corned beef so we both ordered it. The serving was two generous portions shaped like burgers. It had a crunchy exterior and while it was very tasty we were disappointed that it wasn't homemade corned beef. Still worth ordering. I recently went and there was a half hour wait so went to the look at the new businesses across the street in the old Ross to kill time. There was 3 of us so went shared the ube pancakes, and each got our own dishes of prime rib loco moco, kalua pig eggs benedict, and kalbi kimchi fried rice. My first time trying YogurStory! I know, I know, kind of sad this place has been around for a while. I've heard good things about them, but never actually had a chance to try them until recently. We came here for brunch, and ordered the eggs Benedict. One was the classic eggs Benedict with fried rice. The other was the smoked salmon eggs Benedict with hashbrowns. Food was very good. I was surprised at the quality of the egg Benedict. We had also ordered hot coffee and an iced coffee. Service was a bit slow. Iced coffee was brought out, but nobody brought out my hot coffee. Our food then arrived, but we weren't given any utensils in which to eat it and it took a while to flag down our waitress for us to get utensils as we stared hungrily at our food. Atmosphere is a casual diner type feel, but was clean. Note this place gets busy very quickly. Recently stopped by Yogurstory and had a great experience. We went on a weekday around 2pm and were one of the few diners, which made for a relaxed visit. Heads up, they stop taking orders at 2:30pm. Hawaiian Loco Moco (5/5): Huge portion with a patty that weighs close to a pound. Juicy, savory, and paired perfectly with over easy eggs and a rich house-made brown gravy with hints of red wine and garlic. Fried Rice Upgrade (3/5): Paid an extra $4 expecting the House Special fried rice with bacon, kalua pork, Portuguese sausage, and egg, but mine seemed to be missing most of those proteins. Still had a strong garlic flavor that I enjoyed, but didn't match expectations. Corned Beef Hash Benedict (5/5): One of the best I've had. Crispy, well-seasoned corned beef without being overly salty, paired with perfectly poached eggs, mozzarella, and hollandaise on a crisp English muffin. We went with the Tater Tots for our Starch Choice which were erfectly fried, not oily, and no frozen aftertaste. A great side. Overall, a great brunch spot with both quality and portion size. We decided to celebrate Father's Day since we've had brunch here in the past and have enjoyed it. We already knew it would be a long wait so we joined the waitlist via the Yelp app. It did take a bit longer than usually due to today's occasion but we still stuck through. After being seated, we waited about 5mins until we had someone take our order for drinks and food. The wait time to just get our water felt like 10mins. We wondered where our plantation iced tea and coffee were, but we decided to still wait- the teas came about 5mins later. No coffee in sight 5mins later, so we flagged down a waitress to let them know, and the coffee came within 5 seconds. Our food all came at different times- we're a group that likes to wait to eat until everyone's meals arrives, so this was a big let down for us. We ordered two prime rib loco mocos, a pork belly oinker, and the pastrami panini w/ fries. The prime rib loco mocos came first- arrived to our table 30mins after we got our drinks. The pork belly oinker arrived 10mins later- while the pastrami panini was nowhere in sight. We were finally able to flag down a waitress (since it was so busy), and asked about the pastrami panini- this is about 10mins of just sitting at our table without touching our food. She went in the back and almost 1min later came back out and said they were just finished plating this dish. Unfortunately, when my mom touched her sandwich and fries, they were cold. Panini was not even fully toasted- when we think of paninis, it's pressed, but even the cheese was cold. We were going to send it back, but we were hungry after waiting a long time. After eating about a quarter of our meals, our waitress came by to ask how everything was. We brought up the concerns of how cold my mom's meal was- she offered to fry and heat up her meal; my mom was fine with the panini as it was, but wanted hot fries. The waitress put in an order of fries for us- it came about 15 mins later.. we were nearly done with a good portion of our meals by then, and my mom was waiting with half of her panini untouched so she could eat it with hot fries. Sadly, the fries weren't hot, and barely even warm. Understandably, it was Father's Day and it was a bit busier than usual days, but no staff came by while we were waiting for our drinks/meals to arrive. It was also hard to flag down a waitress. We honestly had no clue who our assigned waitress until we were nearly done with our meals- the staff that took our orders in the beginning was the hostess trying to help where she could. Second time here, and it's just as amazing as the first! If I lived in Hawaii, I'd be here all the time. The ube pancakes are hands down one of our favorite things on the menu. They're light, fluffy, not too sweet and the portion is huge, so they're great for sharing... unless you want them all to yourself! They seriously keep you full for the rest of the day. Contrary to what one might understandably assume from the eatery's name, YogurStory is no longer a simple yogurt shoppe. In fact, on the day of our visit, I didn't see any yogurt listed in the menu offerings. They have, though, become a beloved destination for both locals and visitors alike as one of Honolulu's hottest breakfast/brunch Asian bistros. Nestled in the heart of Honolulu, although the restaurant offers free parking in their on-site lot, spaces are limited and tend to fill up quickly, so be prepared to wait for something to free up or to opt for metered parking on surrounding streets. The venue's spacious interior welcomes guests to a brightly lit and clean space for dining. YogurStory's menu serves aloha fusion fare, blending Hawaiian flavours with Asian-inspired twists. I have been here a few times and it has not once been a disappointing experience. The 5-star show is the Ube Pancakes. The five-layered fluffy pancakes smothered in Ube cream is worth every hype. You may think it's super sweet, but it has the perfect balance and not too sweet at all. I would definitely come here just for this. We have been here several times and the food usually hits. But the few times from January until now, it's slacking. It's so disappointing. We ordered takeout from YogurSotry on a Saturday morning around 10 AM. When we arrived, there were a big line waiting outside...so glad for the takeout order and not to wait. Got our pancakes, a side of hash brown, a side of Portuguese sausage and went home. Each pancake order came with 3 pancakes: big pancakes that I was only able to finish half, it all came with two generous jars of Ube pancake sauce, sweet but not too sweet. We really enjoyed the Ube pancakes. It was soft, moist, and when you pour on the Ube sauce. It was thick and creamy sweet...really hit the spot. The two sides that we ordered, hashbrowns in Portuguese sausages were equally delicious. We will be back!
