I had the 'bNg' burger, which came with a fried egg, 1000 island dressing, jalapenos, sharp cheddar, bacon, romaine lettuce, grilled onions, and tomato; the burger was okay, but it seemed as if the grilled onions and the sliced tomato made the burger really wet; also, the burger patty itself was very soft in texture, which I was not a fan. Love this place. Get an egg on it for sure! Burgers are out of this world. Kimchi fries are really good but I can't finish an order even with 5 partners! I wish they had a childrens menu, but I guess it doesn't really matter to pay full price for a two year old when you're already paying for 5 adults. It's a little cramped in there but it works when you're hungry and want something that's a little different than your typical burger joint. I actually enjoyed this dish. Kimchi fries was doused in a bit too much oil. You cant actually taste the unique flavor enhancing qualities of Kimchi because they clearly fry the kimchi on the same grill they use to grill the burgers. Really glad my friend from the West Coast told me about this place and we both met up here two weeks in Chicago. From the outside the place is very inconspicuous, I would have walked past it without noticing if i wasn't going there specifically. Inside their walls are lined with awards and newspaper mentions, so you know it's a good place. Between the three of us, we ordered the bNG, Loco Moco and Kimchi burgers, Kimchi fries and Bibimbop w/ shrimp. The Loco Moco was my favorite burger of the three, but they were all awesome in their own right. If I had to nitpick about something, it would be that the kimchi wasn't spicy enough, but it was still a great burger. Everyone has their preferred level of spiciness, so it would be hard to please everyone. The Kimchi fries were loaded with flavors. Again, the kimchi could have used a bit more kick, but other than that, I wouldn't change anything on them. I would have even enjoyed the fries on their own as their batter was terrific, so having all those other ingredients made for a great side to our meal. This is definitely something I've been craving since I got back. The Bibimbop was a refreshing dish in that it didn't leave you feeling heavy afterwards. The fresh vegetables were perfect, as were the fried shrimp. This is a great choice if you're not in the mood for burgers. We got to chat with the owner for a bit and he really seemed like a stand-up guy. He's always looking to improve on things and trying new recipes, so I'd definitely return whenever I'm in Chicago to try all of his other menu items. I can't say enough. The food's always been good, the delivery has always been timely, and even without what I'm about to share, bopNGrill gets 5-stars. But if I could give them 10-stars, I would. Here's why: I ordered some food for delivery. Along with my food, I ordered a burger for my dog. My dog is approaching the end of his life, so I wanted to get him a special treat. I only mentioned it to bopNGrill because I needed to be sure that the burger had no onions (onions are very toxic to dogs.) The food arrived quickly, hot, fresh, and delicious (as expected), but they also included a note of condolence detailing the care they took with my dog's burger. They didn't just "not put onions on it," they prepared a special patty for him (apparently they ordinarily season them with onion powder), made sure it was cooked well-done, and they packaged all the components separately, "in case your pup doesn't like veggies." Turns out, Henry really doesn't care much about lettuce. He liked the tomato, though! And of course, he loved his lovingly-prepared burger. After seeing this place on Triple D and Chicago's Best, and my friend raving about it - we took the trip up to Rogers Park on a Tuesday after work. Getting there wasn't a problem - we drove from the Loop, but parking was a beotch. Next time, i will take the red line. Place is nicer on the outside, and inside, than I expected. I guess I thought it was going to be more of a dive. It was modern with comfortable chairs and tables. We got there about 6pm, and the place was pretty empty, but did fill up fast. My friend insisted I get the umami burger, kimchi fries, and philly egg rolls. But, they only sell the philly egg rolls on the weekend. They did have Florentine egg rolls that day - which were AMAZING! Four of us split 2 orders of the kimchi fries. I was not a fan. I couldn't get past the smell or the taste the kimchi left in my mouth. The fries themselves were good - and I would get plan or just cheese next time. Portions are huge! We ordered 3 of the eggrolls, which are not what you'd expect. They are split in half, like wonderful boats of goodness! Cheesy, spinachy, ooey-gooey-yumminess! The umami burger was good. The flavors all blended and the toppings were what made it. The beef wasn't the best quality, and it is very greasy. Make sure you have a ton of napkins, because the juices will be flowing. I love the suburbs. There's hardly any traffic. You don't get frustrated searching for parking. And everything is 15-20 minutes away. However, Bop N Grill is worth sitting in traffic for. Parking in the area isn't too bad either. The cuisine is more modern. It's like eating dishes served in a hotpot without the danger of burning your fingers because food is served in a convenient to go container. I ordered the bulgogi rice bowl and kimchee fries. Bulgogi rice bowl was phenomenal! The meat was extremely tender and it was served over sticky rice and a small salad on the side. They give really great portion sizes in terms of rice to meat ratio. Not only that but the prices aren't too bad considering what you get and the amount of work it probably takes to put that much flavor into an 8x8 box. Moving on to the kimchee fries-I love cheese fries but these are a breed of their own! Yes there is cheese but there's also bacon, green onions, other veggies (I think? I can't really remember) and of course kimchee. One thing that irritates me about getting any type of smothered fries is that it gets sloppy. Sometimes you can barely get a fry out without looking like a 5 year old. But not here...the fries are food art. You can eat a fry, have all the flavor AND still look like an adult while eating it. My criticisms are: 1) without warning the fried egg came with a runny yoke. Had I known or been given the option, I would've requested it over-hard. 2) I ordered no bacon on my burgers, but it was clear from the taste that the egg or maybe the patty was cooked with the bacon grease or next to the bacon. Not sure if I just ordered the wrong menu items or if my expectations were too high because of all the hype. I've eaten here twice now and my feelings towards the food are eh. I like the atmosphere but I think the prices are a little too high for the kind of restaurant this is and the food has underwhelmed me both times. First time I was here I ordered a loco moco and was kind of disappointed. Nothing was wrong with it, but I feel like I would have been better off eating at Aloha Eats if I wanted a loco moco. Second time I had an actual burger and that was better but I'm still not sure if it was worth the price. Definitely recommend ordering burgers here as a lot of my friends have the same "eh" feelings towards a lot of the other menu items. Also, kimchi fries. These things get SO MUCH HYPE. Once again I'm not sure if it's just me, but I thought the kimchi fries were just a huge sloppy soggy (emphasis on soggy) mess. The mushroom duxelle and burger meat were truly delicious but the sun dried tomato confit took away from the umami flavor I was trying to experience. I truly believe that this was one of those cases where there is too much of a good thing with such a large list of ingredients. If you are in the area, definitely stop by. They are not kidding when they put a limit on those Bulgogi eggrolls. They are only available FRI/SAT/SUN and once they are gone, they're gone. Luckily, they were still available on a Sunday afternoon, but during our visit the "sorry we're out..." sign went up. Wow! The eggrolls were really good, and I can see how lots of people would gorge themselves out on them. I had just split one with JW, and between that, the burger and kimchi fries, I was pretty much done. I have a love/hate relationship with kimchi. After all the raves about Korean burgers, I had to go for myself to see what the hype was all about. I live in the city, so I made the journey up here with two of my friends. It's like a fast food joint, you order your food and they'll call your number out when your food is ready. You grab your own napkins, utensils, condiments, and table. One of my friends and I got the kimchi burger (kimchi, fried egg, cheese, bacon, mayo, and cabbage) and my other friend got the umami burger (truffled mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, mayo, bacon, and gouda.) We also got an order of kimchi fries to share. The kimchi burger was really greasy, it was dripping everywhere. But omg...this burger was one of the best tasting burgers I have ever tried. The meat was juicy and not overcooked while all the other ingredients complemented the burger well. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the bun. Maybe next time I should sub it with a pretzel bun. I didn't enjoy the kimchi fries like I thought I would. It was smothered with bacon, kimchi, cheese, and onions. I thought there was too much going on and way too much cheese. Overall, I enjoyed my food and experience at Bop N Grill. Pretty chill atmosphere with great food. I came across this place from Food Network Channel last week so we checked it out Saturday afternoon.
