This place has some interesting food options. The concept for their food is stylistically American fast food, but there is a strong Korean emphasis on the making of their dishes. We ordered the umami burger ($9) and bibimbap ($8). Hubby had a slightly difficult time locating items that were vegetarian-friendly. After all, he couldn't just order a burger like I did. The truth is that they don't offer the veggie burger option. If you've had the Korean bibimbap from a Korean restaurant, you could probably tell that the bibimbap here was modified to cater the American audience. The dipping sauce they used was similar to the sweet-sour sauce for egg rolls at an Americanized Chinese restaurant. It was nothing wrong to make such change; I just found it a bit odd. On the other hand, my umami burger was quite tasty. The truffle oil elevated the entire burger to another level and gave it a "sophisticated" taste. I know most citizens in this country are carnivores, yet there are a few exceptions like my husband who is a vegetarian. It would be nice and thoughtful if there are some vegetarian options for people like him. The primary reason why I render three (3) stars is the price point; I felt it's quite expensive for an independent fast-food joint. I forwent the combo option and just got the burger. Otherwise, we would be spending more than $20 for just two (2) entrees. The city of Chicago is a very competitive market for small businesses. If there were a middle eastern falafel place nearby, I would have gone there instead of coming here for dinner. Since the majority of population here is college students, they should be way more sensitive in searching for lower price point on food in the neighborhood. read more

I'm really glad that this placed opened up. I myself love Korean food and restaurants (bbq and homestyle) but find it hard to find good service with said restaurants. Now, BNG isn't a traditional Korean place - it's more of Asian Fusion run by a younger guy. Perfect concept and spot, especially being across from Loyola. I've been here a few times over the last few months, and my favorite dishes are: +++ Korean BBQ ribs: tender and marinated so deliciously. Comes with a small side of kimchi and a bed of salad with thousand island-y sauce. +++ kimchi fries: I don't know what it is - something as simple as fries, kimchi, cheese, bacon and chives... HEAVEN. ++ Umami burger: there is something about the combination of the mayo, sun dried tomato, gouda, etc. that made me feel like I wasn't even eating a burger... it was an amazing party in my mouth. Must try! + BBQ Chicken : ordered when they were out of the BBQ ribs. I'm not a big fan of chicken too much, but this was a generous portion of chicken as well as tasty (not too dry). Let's see... Drove from Schererville, IN specifically to eat at this particular joint. Definitely wasn't disappointed. Would I make the drive again? Probably not. But would totally have a bite if I happen to already be in the area. I inhaled the Bibimbop with Bulgogi... very good. My Donald had the Kimchee Burger... also good but I believe we could do better at home. Lucas had the Unami Burger... delicious. We also tried the Philly Bulgogi Egg Rolls and the Kimchee Fries... they were a smidge better than okay. My husband definitely enjoyed these more than I did. Then we ordered two small drinks. Our bill was a whopping 52 something! So... the food was tasty for sure but a bit pricey for what is offered. Now the food delivery time from order to pick up was a tad long that just means it's cooked fresh from the ground up! Kimchee fries are the bomb! It was amazing, the food was really good and it was my first time trying that place, really delicious

This is my second time here and I can say that it will in no way be my last! Tried the Philly cheesesteak eggrolls filled with bulgogi beef for the first time and they did not disappoint. One order of two eggrolls that were split in half and drizzled with cheese sauce (like the kind they put on nachos at the stadium I think) was enough for the six of us as they were very rich and packed with flavor. An order of chicken katsu could've easily served two people with an enormous blanket of crunchy fried chicken breast draped over white rice and the standard sides of kimchi and thousand Island dressed shredded cabbage. It was served with a teriyaki sauce in a small lidded container. Forgetting the perfect mixed plate order I had the last time I was here this time I again looked to have the spicy option and ordered the bul dak plate with spicy stir fry chicken. What I forgot was that it is resting on two scoops of white rice with the standard sides of kimchi, small side salad thousand Island dressing. It's just not enough lettuce and too much rice for me. Should have gotten the same combination as before - with the bul dak chicken on top of the bibimbap plate. It's a much healthier and interesting dish because it has no rice, has a lot of mixed greens and the addition of a fried egg on top of the meat with stir fried (or were they marinated?) carrots and jalapenos on the side. The Bavarian burger on the pretzel roll was tasty but for me lacked spice. Kimchi french fries were quite the bomb. It is a bit of overkill in the calorie department so don't order it if you are really watching your weight or if you are only one or two people and don't want to get grossed out if you finish it. All in all this is a great place just look at the menu and make sure you ask for substitutions if you don't want something specific on your dish. It might cost you a dollar to make the switch but it's well worth it. read more

There's no point in going anywhere else in the city for your kimchi fries fix. The fries are super crispy and addicting. I have been spoiled by this place and expect my fries like that all the time now. The gooey cheese and the sautéed kimchi on top is a game changer. The acidity from the mildly spicy kimchi goes so well with the crunch of fries and cheese mixed all in there. Lot of love went into this item. When available, you MUST try their Philly cheese steak egg rolls. I've only been able to try it once twice due to the fact that's it's always sold out each time they have it available again. Almost makes me wanna place an order on hold just for myself. The establishment has always been clean and the variety of menu items is great. It caters to a variety of different diets out there. Like this place portions and food are good. However recently, I asked for a well done burger. They gave me a pretty much raw. It was bright pink on the inside like only the literal outside of the burger was cooked. The salad has a sweet poppyseed dressing which balances the heat really nicely for me. I often get lunch delivery from here because it comes really fast and travels well. Man... I've had this place bookmarked for years. I try to avoid anything east of Western, as I'm a snob when it comes to traffic and congestion. It had bacon, lettuce, tomato, onions, cheese, and of course, beef patties. The beef was cooked to a perfect "medium" and my gawd, one of the best burgers I've had (yeah, I'm looking at you Au Cheval). Other peeps ordered the Kimchi fries, which I'm not a fan of kimchi at all, and this was no exception. But the fries also was drenched with cheese, and my healthy butt said to heck with it, and I scrapped-off the kimchi and went HAM. I tried also the chicken tatsu, which was fried chicken tenderloins, with rice and some katsu sauce. It was OK. Then finally, I also tried the bbq chicken rice plate, which I liked better than the chicken katsu rice plate. But yeah, overall, awesome food!
