A Bristol institution! The line is usually long on a weekend morning, and for good reason - their bagels are so satisfying, fresh, and honestly just exactly what I want in a bagel. They have tons of options to concoct a breakfast or lunch sandwich on a bagel of your choice. Their coffee is delicious, too! I love their white cheddar cheese and will often order a sandwich with that and egg on an everything or the rare, coveted, absolutely divine Asiago bagels they offer. Truly Heavenly! I've never brought someone here for a cozy breakfast meal and had them not enjoy it. Great location, nice bagels, friendly staff, simple in-store system! We went to Bristol Bagel Works to have a bagel lunch after visiting Blithewold, which is about three minutes away. This shop has a great location, right in the center of downtown. The bagels were very yummy. I had a salmon, cream cheese, tomato, and capers sandwich. My spouse had a pepper turkey, cheese, and some other things sandwich. The kids had poppy seed bagels, toasted with butter. Everyone was happy! Some of us had brought water bottles with us, and others had drinks from the chiller case. You order at the register, give your name, and then they call it out from the counter to the right when it's ready. Very easy! Warm and welcoming staff! I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in the area. My one qualm with the bagels is that they use corn meal on their peels/board/sheets. Corn meal acts as ball bearings to slide dough more easily, but corn meal also burns easily! So, although my sesame bagel had the a great chew, it had a ring of burn on the bottom. I'd love for Bristol Bagel Works to try switching to semolina flour -- still great for the sliding, but it won't burn until a higher temperature! read more

Bristol Bagel was one of my go-to spots while attending RWU and even after when I lived in the area. I stopped going once I was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance, so it had been quite a while. Recently a friend told me they carry Udi's gluten-free bagels and said it was the best bagel she's had since moving here from New York. Of course I had to go back and try my old standby: the Willow Tree chicken salad with lettuce on a gluten-free bagel.It was served to go with a pickle (which I was told was quite good) and a bag of Lay's chips. It took a lot not to cry tears of joy today at Bristol Bagel Works. It was my first visit, and it will be the first of many! I'm originally from NY (like the area where they make a mean bagel) and for the past 16 years I've lived in New England I've been on a hunt for a local bagel that is just as good! I FINALLY FOUND THE PLACE. BBW uses boars head cold cuts (another win) and knows sandwiches get cut in half and served with chips and a pickle! Thank godddd! The quality of my bagel sandwich was out of this world. I was so incredibly happy. My coffee was just as good! I had heard wonderful things and nobody was exaggerating. The quality of their product is top notch. And the value for it was shocking! Their prices are super reasonable for the quality, the amount of food and the presentation. Let's talk service. Everyone here is friendly, personable, polite and helpful. I felt so at home---like i was a regular. They helped me pick out stuff that was perfect thanks to suggestions and asking what i like. I so appreciate businesses like this! The inside is stunning---their tables, the signage, the display of their beautiful bagels, the decor---everything. I literally was on cloud nine. I left with a bunch of bagels and some cream cheese to last me a bit, but i will be back, and be a regular (even though i live 40 minutes away) for sure! I was just having a regular day -- nothing out of the ordinary. I went to this spot with two friends, one Latina woman and two of us Indian women. We were just there to grab something quick. Instead, the man behind the counter -- the one who makes the bagels -- started yelling at us out of nowhere. He called us "teenagers," told us our words were "bullshit," and then told us never to come back. The tone, the aggression -- it was completely unprovoked. We were just standing there. I've been thinking about it all day. About how wrong it felt. I don't know if it was the color of our skin, or just the way we looked, but I can't shake the feeling that we weren't welcome there because of who we are. I've never felt so singled out, so small, and so dismissed in public. Please don't spend your money at a place that treats people this way. No one deserves to be spoken to like that. read more

Bagels and weekend mornings just go together. We were staying nearby at an AirBnb and on our last day, we wanted bagels and Bristol Bagel Works caught my eye. We came right before the morning bum rush for carbs - definitely try to get here before 10. I felt like having sweet and got the cinnamon raisin/strawberry cc, while my husband ordered the lox/cc on an everything. The bagels, while deceivingly small on first glance, had a pretty generous smear. Still not approaching the sheer volume of cream cheese that a NYC bagel place will slap on your bagel but this was the first time in a while that I had to dredge some of it off. I guess I'm becoming a little bit of a bagel connoisseur. I can't stop trying different bagel shops, and Bristol Bagel Works was the latest! I got here about an hour before closing on a Saturday and they still had a full selection of bagels. These are some of the best bagels I've had in RI: very light yet chewy and not bready at all. The prices are also very good, it's $1.30 each or $7.80 for a half dozen. They put plenty of toppings on every bagel (i.e. the everything and poppy seed didn't have any naked spots). They also have spinach bagels which I love to see. I only wish they have vegan cream cheese but it's understandable. Service was fast and friendly. We stopped in or lunch. There was a line up to order, but we snagged a table with no problem. I had an egg and cheese on a spinach bagel. My partner had one of the lunch specials, a reuben on an everything bagel. We were both pleasantly surprised. What can I say, I'm a carbohaulic! There is nothing, I mean nothing, more satisfying than a fresh baked bagel. I usually get a simple multi-grain with a cup of whatever soup is on the menu. It has never let me down in terms of feeling satisfied. My son is addicted to the everything bagel bites which are in a little pick your own basket by the register. So affordable and amazing! I can't believe I haven't ever reviewed this place! I've been coming here for years, they're really great. Friendly and hardworking employees, good food, cute place, average prices - there's really nothing bad about this place. They're taking lots of covid precautions, it's actually one of the best I've seen anywhere and even before covid they were always pretty clean. I will say, their bagels are a little on the small side but not anything tiny. Maybe get more than one if you're really hungry though. They have great flavor, great crust, are nice and squishy (that's what I'm always looking for btw - never a bad thing for a bagel!) and they're simply awesome. Highly recommend. If you don't believe that they're good, one of my best friends who is a born and raised New Yorker always wants to get bagels from here every time he comes out from New York City and that alone says a lot. Where do I begin? My friends and I were visiting Rhode Island and our airbnb was located in the town of Bristol. We woke up on Sunday morning looking for a place to get some bagels. Call me a New York City snob, but this play was very unsatisfactory. We ordered our bagels at the counter, and we clearly said our bagels were "to stay." After an excruciating 20 minutes of waiting for our bagels, we found that they 1) messed up our bagel order, 2) put our bagels in "to go" bags rather than baskets for dining inside. It seems like the workers here seriously take their sweet time to prepare simple bagels. Because our bagel orders took so long, our bagels were far from toasted. I asked for a toasted bagel and it came out cold. It also just seemed very odd to me that they would place our bagels in to go bags when literally all the locals before and after us got dining in baskets. Maybe they knew we were out of towners but I did not appreciate that. Work on your hospitality, work on your service, and work on your accuracy. read more

My wife and I have been coming here about once a month for six years. I think that's coming to an end, which is a shame since the food is pretty good. But the service, which has always been a little problematic, has really gone downhill since they reopened after a prolonged closure due to needing a new oven. The lines are ridiculously long and it takes forever (20+ minutes) to get your food. That's not really acceptable for bagel sandwiches. And really it's due to inefficiency of layout. During the closure they could've re-done things to streamline order-taking, food prep, and the biggest problem: payment. Instead it got worse. Last three times we've been I've had to stand there for 5+ minutes with my food, just waiting to pay for it. WTH? Today was the last straw. I know it was only twenty minutes to closing, but when there's a line of customers five deep, you shouldn't be doing any cleanup procedures. Instead we were left to stand at the counter for several minutes while someone eat ignoring us to windex some plastic display stand. Message received: you don't want us there, so we left. Again, the food is tasty. Coffee is pretty good, too. I wish they had more varieties of soups and served them on Sundays, but that's nitpicking. Bottom line: it's almost always tasty. But I can't recommend this place anymore, due to the atrocious service. read more

I love this place so much. Their garlic & chive cream cheese is fantastic. Put some of that on a spinach bagel (heated not toasted) and you're good to go. YUM. They are also one of the few places in town that actually has bologna and their bologna sandwich bagel is delish. I've been in here probably 20 or more times both for breakfast and lunch and have never been disappointed. I love their bagel bites, which are 6 for $1 I think. Add some cream cheese and you've got a pretty hefty breakfast. Also a fan of their cinnamon buns. They're giant and the frosting comes on the side, so you can do them up however you like. read more

This is the first time I have written a bad review for any restaurant. Usually when something goes wrong, most restaurants try to rectify the mistake for the customer. Not this time. I ordered 2 bagel sandwiches, one had sausage, egg and cheese, and also 2 extra bagels and a piece if cake. Paid the bill, didn't receive a receipt and left. By the time i got home, the bag only contained the 2 bagel sandwiches minus the sausage and the rest of the order was missing. It was 5 min after closing and no one answered so I left a message. Needless to say, never heard from them the next morning (granted I'm sure they were busy). I called and was asked immediately if I could hold and the phone was left off the hook forever!!!! I got into my car and started to drive down there from Warren with the open phone. Finally the girl came on the phone and said sorry for the wait!!!!!! After arriving they Had made a sausage, egg and cheese, the bagels and the cake, but charged me for the sandwich BUT WITHOUT THE sausage THIS TIME. Are you kidding????? After all the trouble they had the NERVE TO STILL CHARGE ME for the same sandwich only without the sausage which I had gotten the day before! Ridiculous! Will not ever spend another dime there.
