Never in my life did I expect to be the sort of person who buys freshly roasted coffee beans from a coffee shop - and here I am. This coffee is so good that it hooked a rookie novice coffee connoisseur like me therefore it only stands to reason that they are doing multiple things right. I'll do a bullet list of the things that I'm happy about. * There's an outdoor patio. A large outdoor patio. (I'm counting down the days until the weather allows this to be open) * They have classy and spacious bathrooms. It just makes me feel like they really do care about the comfort of their guests. * Coffee bean options are the same and yet there's always new ones also available. It's fun to try the new stuff but still get the old stand-by beans too. * Free cup of coffee when you buy a bag of beans. * They'll grind your beans for you (if you want). * The girls are ALWAYS super friendly. If one of them was having a bad day, you'd never know it. * It's literally on the bike path. * There's lots of seating even though it's not the biggest place, there always seems to be a place for me. * The packaging (flat black) looks super cool. I'm proud for house guests to see my bean bag because it will be evident that the coffee is going to rock just from how cool the bag is. * This is the only coffee I've ever been more than happy to drink with no additives (cream, sugar, etc.) * The baked goods change. They are different from week to week. This is great because there's limited space for them and I like to try new things. I like knowing I'll have options. (Although the later in the day - the fewer the options.) * Free Wifi (password is on the counter) The only negative for me is that I live so far away (west bay). But really, it's kindof a positive because I've already convinced myself that when it gets nicer out I'll ride several miles on my bike every weekend to get my coffee so it's a good motivator. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Borealis yet - it has become a part of my weekly routine! I have been drinking Borealis coffee exclusively since my first visit here. Their coffee is the best I've had in this state and has now become a regular thing we send to out of state family and friends. They also make an excellent specialty coffee beverage, carry an assortment of baked goods and offer a sunny, stylish spot to enjoy said coffee beverage in. I have not been when it is warm enough, but there is also ample outdoor space for the warm weather months. Also, super friendly staff! read more

Been here a few times. The location and the interior are great. The muted colors, dark wood, and white tile/solid surface countertops all work together. Easy access to the bike path is another plus. However, the coffee is pretty mediocre. Their espresso is a typical dark roast that requires a fair bit of milk and sugar to mask the bitter notes. Since it's all roasted on site, I hope they improve their roasting method, because right now it just isn't working. read more

Oh hell yes! I'm digging' this hip new coffee shop down Bullocks Point way. The fact that this is a restored train station makes it an instant 5 stars, but the new owners have done a bang up job making the inside warm and hospitable. I personally do not like coffee, but I always appreciate a good local coffee place. The owners are super nice and accommodating, and they make you feel like you're part of the experience at Borealis. Take a drive down to Riverside, walk along the beach or bike path and stop in and see these guys! read more

These guys have one of the best iced coffees! They do not up-charge for non-dairy milk (unless you're getting a latte or milk heavy beverage) The staff is always pleasant, the shop is always clean. Unfortunate for me Riverside is never convenient but I still manage to keep coming back. read more

This is a great new coffee shop. The beans are roasted to perfection, the baristas are well trained and friendly, and the location is superb. The fact that this sits right along the East Bay Bike Path only makes it more incredible. I love seeing new places pop up like this - it's well worth the stop. read more

This is quite clearly a locals spot. With people working on laptops taking up entire tables and not even having a coffee was slightly off putting. The donuts were phenomenal and i would absolutely return for them. The coffee however....left something to be desired and the dirty Chai tasted like milk and sadness. Again, the donuts were one of the best i have had in Rhode Island and they should 100% continue making them. Would give another go and perhaps try a different beverage. read more

I've now been here twice (it'd be more, but Riverside is a bit of a trek for coffee when you live in Providence proper) and both times my drinks (coconut curried mocha and Nutella latte) have been to die for- not too sweet and full of flavor. Really cute coffee shop which I stopped by while biking with great coffee and a strong hipster vibe. The iced coffee was great, and the coffee beans I bought to brew my own cups at home were even better. It was a nice place for a pick me up on the way back to PVD on the bike path, and it also seems like the perfect place to spend a lazy weekend morning. Definitely will be back to check out more from their diverse menu and maybe some of the board games. read more

A quaint, clean, place with delicious coffee! It's nice and bright in there and it's finally a place that is free from a TV in every corner. I love that it's in an old railroad building because it just adds to its charm. I got the maple latte and it was delicious and my boyfriend got the apple cider, which he loved as well. I'll definitely be back and try more off of their menu! It was $6 for the 2 drinks, which wasn't bad and we were able to enjoy them inside. Also, lots of free parking! read more

It's a tiny, beautiful shop and microroaster located in an old train stop along the bike path, handling five pounds of beans at a time for some top notch, elitist approved caffeine that's surprisingly thriving in East Providence - a city best known for it's soul-razing shopping plazas and preying upon geographically confused student renters. It might sound like I'm being harsh, but keep in mind the EP high school sports teams are called the Townies - and if that doesn't scream "give up" I don't know what does. They may as well replace the cap and gown at graduation with sweatpants and a bud light. I guess all this is to say that this business, with it's attention to detail, carefully curated aesthetic and fantastic product is a wonderful anomaly in a town where most people gladly bow to the dunkies overlord. read more

Just went in and decided to try the Spice Chai tea. Ended up getting the Vanilla Chai Tea with coconut milk. I am pleased with my order and cannot get over how perfect the temperature is for the hot drinks. Been here a couple of times when I am down in Riverside. Love the apple cider as well. read more

I love Borealis. The coffee is amazing. I hardly ever drink black coffee but Borealis really doesn't require any milk or sugar unless you really prefer it that way. It's smooth and not bitter at all. We have known Brian here for the past year and a half. This spot is the best. I truly hated coffee until I tried the in house roasts. Now I love it. I normally don't shy away from my usual cold brew, but there's much more than just that. Weekly events and delicious pastries keep us coming around.
