Not my usual seven stars. I was kind of let down. The free sample table was empty and just had a sign that said "durum bread" and nothing out but crumbs. There was only one person in line in front of me and two workers helping them. Another worker was putting together a to go pastry order. No one acknowledged me waiting. The customers eventually walked away and so did the workers. Another worker came out and immediately went to take the man's order who just walked in. No one asked if I had been helped and when I interrupted her to tell her I was waiting to be helped, she looked at me as if I was the rude one for saying something. It was a strange experience. The seven stars on hope and Broadway are sooooooooo much better. read more

You can't go wrong with seven stars. This location has parking and is super easy to get to. The staff I've interacted with have all been great. Prices are posted with the breads. The pretz au chocolat is being served and it's delicious. I wish it wasn't so light on chocolate or that the chocolate was dispersed better but it's still delicious. This is a great spot to pick up tasty bread. Their pastries taste good as well. They have kouign amann, a flakey, carmelly pastry that's rather uncommon, and it tastes great! It's also a great spot to meet with friends and colleagues or get work done. It's typically quiet on weekday afternoons, in my experience. It's located at the old Runford Baking Powder factory, which adds a nice historic charm to the place. They also have a little patio out back, where there is also more parking! What happened to this place? I used to love the almond croissants here, but I came back recently, and the almond croissant was sad and flat, like someone had sat on it. I would recommend this Seven Stars location if you are driving as it actually has off street parking. I would also recommend ordering online as it gets just as busy as the other Seven Star locations. The staff are friendly,knowledgeable, and prompt. The meal portions tend to be on the smaller side and the prices are in line with similar artisan style bakeries around the state. I would recommend trying the cold matcha latte mixed with vanilla and almond milk. I would pass on the Breakfast Sandwich. Like me, I found it to be a little bland and just ok. The gingerbread cookies however are worth making your A1C climb a few notches. read more

Can I give this place 7 stars? To begin with, the inside is beautiful--it has the loft feel with the exposed ceiling and brick walls so it makes you feel at home. There are window seats with a good view of the neighboring apartments and a nice patio with outdoor seating as well. The pastries were excellent, but my favorite was the cheese twist and almond croissant. They were all unique in flavor and you really can't go wrong with any selection. This was my first time coming but I will definitely be checking out their other locations. The only critique I have is that it is a little pricey--each personal pastry can range anywhere from approximately $2.50-$5.00 Update: I had to go back and try the cheddar cheese scone and I think this was actually my favorite. I agree with some of the other reviewers. This bakery used to be really good but in the last year I find that the pastries are burn. Too dried out and way overpriced. I just get coffee there now. Flour bakery in Boston had some of the same pastries and they were a couple dollars cheaper and alot fresher. Not dry and burnt. This has been a common problem here for the last year. I have been to this place and brought friends here more times than I can count. It's a little pricey, but I figured that was a combination of the in house baking and paying their employees well. The staff is excellent, I have never had a bad interaction. Recently, I found out that they lowered the staff's wages to $9 once they say how substantial tipping was during the pandemic. It seems that they spin it as a position that pays $15/ hour when they're only paying $9- they count on customers who think they're tipping above a living wage for excellent service to make up the rest. This is a large business with 5 locations and a distribution deal with Whole Foods, not some small local business trying to get their footing in the food service industry. The hourly wage for these employees is way below other RI cafes. The owners should be absolutely ashamed. They made a big show of accepting the union (I remember seeing the post and applauding it), but that was all for show- they're still not willing to pay their staff what they deserve. It seems they want to cash in on looking like a business that values their staff without ever actually doing it. Disgusting. read more

Fortunately for me, Seven Stars is a short walk from my house and on my way to work. If I'm feeling fancy on a Friday, I'll pop in for a chai latte or a coffee and a ginger biscuit. Their baked goods are delicious. The aforementioned ginger biscuit is a perennial fave. I also like their granola scone. My husband has tried a lot more variety and always lets me steal a bite, so I can vouch for the lemon cake (decadent but worth it), savory breakfast quiches, and cinnamon rolls. Their coffee is strong and seems to please even the toughest coffee snobs. The chai latte is perfect, and their iced mocha latte is great, as well. Everything I've ever had there has been great. The space is wonderful both inside and out. Sometimes the line can get fairly long (and slow) on weekend mornings, but it's always worth the wait. My only beef with Seven Stars is that they don't have WiFi (at least not the last time I checked). I'd so much rather go there to do work (as opposed to a Starbucks), but maybe they don't want people camping out there all day for work. I don't know, but what I do know is Seven Stars is a neighborhood fave! read more

Like their other locations, you're guaranteed to get friendly helpful service in a welcoming environment. This particular location is inside a mill, and has beautiful large windows. The general layout makes me feel like I could stay here for hours working! Their coffee and lattes are delicious {they use New Harvest coffee out of Pawtucket}. And their treats are delicious. I highly recommend the quiche! They rotate quiche flavors daily, and it is out of this world. Even if you have tried quiche elsewhere, you have to try theirs. The crust is buttery and delicious! What a wonderful new location! The last time I was in RI, Seven Stars still only had their crowded Providence location. This new location is just perfect. Nestled in a historic brick building with plenty of parking, seven stars is an ideal place to meet a friend for coffee, lunch or brunch. Their menu revolves around their freshly baked goods. Although at first, the lack of egg-dishes threw me off, the sticky buns, scones, breads and other home made delights make up for it. There is a display case with juices, local Narragansett Creamery yogurt (dressed with Seven Stars house made granola) and pre-made sandwiches. I enjoyed their mulled cider (a fall special) and a sticky bun. I also sampled the yogurt and granola, tried a sip of coffee and bit into a pretzel. Everything was simply wonderful. The sticky bun was sugary, sweet and delectable! I wish I lived here so that I could visit more often! read more

I really like this location - the fact that it's less than 5 minutes from my house and NOT in Providence, with lots of parking is just a bonus! I have come here on a few coffee dates and have always enjoyed the food, beverage and atmosphere. My most recent visit I purchased an iced coffee and a freshly baked ham and cheese croissant - both were excellent. They have a variety of tables (2 tops up to larger, group sized tables) to sit at and I have always just found it to be a comfortable atmosphere full of polite clientele. The fact that they offer recycling along side their trash receptacles is pretty cool. If you like tasty bakery items (pecan rolls, mini quiche, ginger biscuits, scones, danish) give this place a try. read more

When I came in, Seven Stars was advertising their Irish soda bread (which looked wonderful, as did all of their baked goods) and the London Fog, my favorite drink. So of course I had to nip in and try the drink, and what the heck, also decided to try their hazelnut-chocolate biscotti. The combination was very good, especially on the grey day I ended up here. I asked a couple of other patrons how the bread and sandwiches were, and everyone seemed happy with their food, though I wasn't personally able to try everything on the menu. Biggest complaint - how is there not WiFi here? I love talking to my companions and I like public spaces encouraging real conversation...BUT I think it's crazy that a cafe would not offer this service. Despite really liking the biscotti, and really liking the drink, I don't know if I'll be back because this is kind of a big deal. I am only docking the place one star, since their drinks and baked goods are tasty. But for me, cafes are places to get work done typically, and that's a major issue. I can't say I'd want to park myself here, which maybe is the point of their lack of internet. However, for me this is a big oversight. I'll be back if they are able to remedy this. read more

I've only been here for the iced coffee and pastries, both being good. They also sell some sandwiches and breads. The iced coffee is very strong, and it's served black, where you fix it as you like. I've received my iced coffee on occasion with iced coffee ice cubes, which was a really nice and a different touch. The pastries are made well, and the several I have, were all good. Plenty of seating inside and when the weather is nice, you can sit at one of the outside tables. read more

I am occasionally a customer of Seven Stars on Hope Street in Providence because it is near where a friend lives. Now it has come to East Providence which is the city where I live. I was there on the third day since it opened. I always like Seven Stars for bakery items such as their focaccia bread, ginger biscuits or raspberry squares. The new third location of the bakery is very cool - it is in a complex of buildings called Rumford Center which includes loft apartments and office and retail space still under construction. It seems it will be very nice once finished. Rumford Center is a national historic landmark because it is where Rumford Baking Powder was located. They have enlarged photos to make murals on the wall and it adds a lot of character and charm. read more

Yo girl just got back from filming her latest music video. You see Homegirl was first discovered by Usher on YouTube. Homegirl was greatful for the offer but knew others needed the opportunity more than her. Justin still sends Homegirl thank you cards to this day. Now filming had forced Homegirl to stay as fit as a fox. She didn't dare cheat on her diet and jeopardize the chance of a couple pounds costing her a couple £ (pounds). Mhmmm. She keeping her money green baby. However on the last day of filming yo girl decided to pick up some goodz from seven stars. Like Lil' John, Homegirl decided to leave the Jag and take the Rollz. For months the stacks on stacks in homegirls wallet would send her flashbacks of a flaky croissant with buttery layers. Yo girl waited in the car until she saw somebody walking out because there's nothing worse than touching dirty door handles. When she slithered her way in past the quickly closing door the aroma of coffee, butter and sugar bumped her nostrils. Homegirls fat cells were quaking. The only thing she cared about was that cinnamon sugared bun. Yo girl took her left hand and proceeded to point to it. She gotta let the fellas know her ring finger valued at 4 mil. People be thinking yo girl is a vegetarian with these Karats. Homegirl knew she had to return back to set. More than her will power broke after picking up her pastries, she done broke a pump! Homegirl knew that pair from wardrobe was on its way out so she gave her heel a little twist to secure herself a fre$h pair. Yo girl was hobblin' to her ride and she believed her blood sugar was crashing. She took single, glorious bite of her bun and its sugar kissed her glossy red lips. Buttery layers slid down her throat. Homegirls eyes dialated. She started having flashbacks to 8th grade prom. Her dress wouldn't zip. Her concealed pimple face sucked in with all her might with no avail. Homegirl wore a dated wool sweater over her frilled ball gown. Homegirl couldn't deal with the flashbacks. She brp brpddddddd down the street til she hit 90 and threw her cinnamon roll out the window. She is not yet strong enough to take on the roll. She returned to the movie set and told her staff that the bakery ran out. Yo girl be calling the priest because she needs to confess. Homegirl will get the strength to take a second bite one day. Next time she'll bring her skinny friends. She'll give them some lattes with heavy cream and the fattest pastries money can buy. That way yo girl will only grow a little when they grow a lot. read more

Plus, supporting a local business will make you feel so warm inside, just like their coffee and baked goods do. They are community focused and give back. Try anything, it's all that good! My faves are the ham and cheese croissant, kouign amann (it took me months to remember how to pronounce this amazing treat. If you're too nervous to try and pronounce it, just use your finger and point, they're used to it ), ginger biscuit, and cinnamon roll. Seven Stars never disappoints! I live a few blocks away from their Rumford location and not only is it a great location, but the customer service is great. Every time I go, I feel welcomed! It can be busy at times, but when it is, the wait is not too long at all. It can be slightly on the pricier side, but personally it is worth it! I don't go a lot, so when I do I like to treat myself. It is a great place to study. I also enjoy catching up with friends over a cup of coffee here. They have a good selection, I recommend their hot chocolate and raspberry bar!
