This is one of my favorite spots in Barrington! The food is so delicious and they have a great menu. Lots of different options -- something for everyone. Last time I went I got The Barrington and a salted caramel oat milk latte. The service is pretty fast and there is typically plenty of seating. It was my friend's birthday and I wanted to take us somewhere new for breakfast. It is in a plaza, which made parking a lot easier. When we arrived, we weren't sure what their system was in terms of ordering so we observed for a little and figured out that you place your order at the counter and then they bring the food out to you. They have a comprehensive menu - sandwiches, burritos, omelettes, breakfast plates, salads and soups - and the best part is that they serve breakfast and lunch all day. My friend ordered the huevos rancheros and I ordered the BP. I was a bit disappointed with my "choirico hash" since it was more of potato and chourico chunks mixed. However, the bacon was yummy, with the perfect amount of crisp. I ordered sourdough as my bread, my eggs were perfectly over medium, and the potatoes were soft on the inside but crispy on the outside. However, I was a bit jealous of my friend's huevos rancheros. The presentation was pretty but the combination of flavors was excellent. The bean patty was soft, and well seasoned. The avocado was ripened to perfection, the potatoes were good, and I loved the chipotle aioli so much I ordered a little side of it for my potatoes. I would highly recommend the huevos rancheros for a balanced, colorful, and tasty breakfast. Since it wasn't too busy we got our food after about 10-15 minutes. They have a few tables outside under the shade for 2 people each, but there are more options inside. The bathroom is cute. Their staff is friendly and efficient. read more

My friend who lives in Barrington brought me as part of a tour of the town. The coffee here (from New Harvest) is INCREDIBLE. Probably the best coffee I have had in months. I am very devoted to Starbucks but I'm definitely returning here over Starbucks anytime I am in the area. I had a large soy latte which was served in a delightful large mug similar to the French bol, but with a handle. I also had the feta frittata which was a good portion size and tasty but could have been warmed a little longer. The gluten free apple cider mini donuts were highly recommended by my friend and were amazing! Would definitely recommend these! Their bathroom is weirdly claustrophobic-y and small but the cafe ambiance is nice and I did appreciate that they had a nice purse hook in the super tiny bathroom. Tucked in a not-so-noticeable strip shopping center that we call Prince's Hill, this farm to table joint has an interesting collection of breakfast and lunch fare. The space is open and clean, reminding of barn theme trendy food places. Came here for Sunday brunch. What do I do when you roll out of bed? Coffee! The coffee was very good here. Thank you for that. I tried black bean huevos rancheros. This is a good vegetarian option and not bad rendition of meat based cousins. I thought the seasoning of the black bean burger was spot on. Not too salty, not too spicy. As you can see from the photos of the cold prepared food platters, there are few other choices. Stopped in for my Iced Coffee and stayed for brunch. My wife got the Watermelon and Goat Cheese Salad, which she really enjoyed. I got the Eggs Benedict. I substituted he Kale for Avocado (at their suggestion when I said I didn't want the Kale). The eggs were poached correctly and had a great yolk run when broken. The Hollandaise was a spicy Avocado version which was great. The chourico Sausage was flavorful and added to the overall taste of the dish and it was served on great wheat break from Olga's ( love the collaboration with others). read more

Service is quite good, ambience is nice. Perfect little cafe for a coffee and treat. Their lunch menu is very limited...about 4-5 different types or sandwiches, 1 type of soup, and 3-5 salad choices. The first time here they got my to go order incorrect and unfortunately I didn't realize it until I get home. I didn't have the time to go back and say anything, but mistakes happen, I'm not offended on it. I had a BLTA(vocado) sandwich the last visit. I didn't find it mind blowing to be honest. The bread is solid, avocado and tomato fresh, the lemon aioli felt a little off to me. I think I'd prefer just plain mayo (and I'm sure I could ask for it this way) in the future. Needed a bit more bacon, the sandwich wasn't very substantial. Overall it was Fair to Good, somewhere between. The potato salad side I found to be "meh", potatoes were a little too hard for my liking, the overall flavor was fine though. The bathroom needed cleaning but I'm not going to take away a point for that, they were busy as heck during my visit. Service: B+ (due to the wrong order on one visit) Atmosphere: A- Selection: C+ Quality of Food Items: A (they really shine here, the tomatoes were perfect!) Ya ya ya it's in bougie Barrington and this cute cafe admittedly has bougie pricing. But. During COVID-19 this place at first reluctantly became my go-to lunch spot and then I learned about the existence of baked apple cider muffin donuts (TO DIE) and then huh how did I not realize they had a loyalty program to ease the pain of my $20/day lunch habit!! Some of the baristas here still need proper coffee training but hot damn is the food always always always good. Even tho my wallet still complains. Black pear is supportive of local businesses like Knead donuts, Wayland bakery breads and others as well. Always kind service. 5 stars, unreluctantly. We stopped by here for lunch today as we were looking for something a bit different and a bit healthier. I decided to get Antonellis Grilled chicken sandwich which had avocado, tomato, bacon, arugula and lemon aioli on Olga's sour dough bread. I have to say it is probably the best sandwich I have ever eaten! That lemon aioli is so good, I wanted to buy a bottle of it to take home! It came with a side chickpea salad which was also pretty good. My wife had an omelet with a side of toast and fruit. I didn't have any but it looked pretty good. I also got freshly squeezed orange juice which was really good. Plenty of pulp, just the way I like it! I had the Antonellis grilled chicken which has, or should have, - "herb roasted chicken, avocado, bacon, tomato, arugula, lemon aioli, on Olga's sourdough" They were out of bacon, "because of a busy day" , which was fine with me, and I wouldn't think twice about, except that I read the same line in someone else's Yelp review for them. So does this happen often ? They warned me ahead And offered to take two dollars off each sandwich for the lack of bacon and as I said I was fine with that because I'm not a big bacon fan anyway and the sandwich sounded like it would taste good without bacon. I wasn't crazy though that the sandwich also didn't have arugula on it . And I wasn't told about that ahead. They replaced the arugula with mixed greens which normally is fine but, I would've liked to have been warned ahead because I was deliberately not ordering any sandwich with lettuce because there's presently a recall on romaine and other types of lettuce And I really didn't want to take that risk I was hungry and I didn't find out until I was home so I ate it anyway. The flavor of the sandwich was tasty but I think it would've been better with the peppery arugula So the flavor was good and it would've been a delicious sandwich with the right ingredients If it wasn't for the fact that the grilled chicken must've been grilled well ahead and reheated and was dry and chewy I had my choice of a chickpea or a quinoa salad with the sandwich and I got the chickpea salad It came in a tiny sample cup and was not bad or good it was just fine. We ordered two of those sandwiches that come with chickpea salad and two iced teas and the bill came to $40 with tip ( And that was after they took $4 off the price of the sandwich because they didn't have bacon) So it would've been $44 I think that's a lot for dry chewy chicken read more

Homegirl was the muse behind the Good & Plenty candy. It was originally called Homegood & Plenty but was shortened for advertisement purposes. Yo girl still gets her life time supply though. Every Halloween is a free for all at Homegirls Chateau. While a fan of the sweet, Homegirls is truly a savory gal. And when it comes to breakfast, she could eat it for every meal. For a sophisticated woman it may shock you to the core to know that Homegirl has a hometown pallet. She wants the neighbor hood greasy spoon to serveeee. She doesn't need lattes and lingonberries to be impressed. She just wants good and hearty food. Homegirls appetite is a junkyard dog in a pure breads body when it comes to eggs and bacon. Now that you have been prefaced, the Black Pear was a bit froofy. It was charming and up to date and a quaint cafe rather than a greasy spoon. But Homegirl was VERY concerned that her petit exterior would be judged resulting in a petit plate. Now Homegirl fasted for this meal. She didn't add resistance bands to her Pilates tape to go cheeseless and meatless. She ordered the egg sandwich-bacon, egg, and cheese on a brioche bun with every intention of throwing it down. Another reason Homegirl chose the classic combo was due to price. Most choices were $10-$13, the sandwich was $8. Homegirl is just used to getting a giant pancake, 2 eggs home fries and raisin toast for less than that. Don't think that yo girl is struggling though, she's just got cheap flavonoids. The sandwich was great. She really can't complain about the sweet brioche bun, egg and bacon. Homegirl will say that she wishes some more affordable options were available for a hearty bite. The black pear is great for what it is, a Pinteresty cafe serving craft cappuccinos and croissants. It's just that Homegirl doesn't do caffeine and French breads all day. She eats eggs with salt and pepper. Home fries and ketchup. Orange juice and raisin bread. Homegirl is a pancake away from getting her loyalty card stamped for that buy one get one free meals.
