So I was happy to find this place. , Dined in around 2p, so restaurant had a couple of other diners, and server set us immediately and was able to answer a few question before we ordered. Decided to get the bowls which included, rice, protein and a side.. of course we got the Puerto Rican rice, roast pork and fried pork, and plantains. I wanted tostones, but unfortunately it was not available and then I found out the sad news after I asked if they didn't have plantains. I was told that the owner planned to close up shop on Sunday Sept 21. How sad! Decided to then order rellenos papa's and some.mofongo, as I would not get another chance unless I go daily the next 4 days. Everything was good as I remembered. I'm hoping the owner will be able to find another space. It's a cute little dining area. Lots of takeout orders and more diners came in for later lunch, I wonder if they know the place eas closing.

I always pop into this restaurant to eat when I'm in town, and I always seem to order the same thing... I ordered the pernil, which is roasted pork, arroz con gandules, potato salad, and trifongo. The roasted pork was so tender and delicious. I got some of the dark meat pieces, which are my favorite. The trifongo definitely wins the taste test. Trifongo is a Puerto. Rican dish made with green and sweet plantains and mashed together with pieces of fried pork and Chicharrón. My food was so delicious and yummy. I had to leave some of it on my plate, so I wouldn't go into a food coma. As always, the service there is on point and friendly. The host and server does not miss an opportunity to make sure to check up on you and provide water, or whatever beverage you're drinking. They're very sweet and run a pretty efficient shop. The cooks really I did themselves this time! The restaurant is always cleaned... The wait staff is always on top of cleaning the tables, and making sure everything is orderly. The bathroom is also clean. The restaurant has an open kitchen concept, so you can see the cooks in the back, preparing the dishes, including mashing up the plantains to make the trifongo. If you are in town, you must try this place. I recommend the roasted pork and the fried chicken. Of course, if you're looking for something on the smaller side, you can try the trifongo. Be patient though, if they are particularly busy, you may have to wait, and they may be out of some things. Over the years, I've learned to ask what they ran out of. Enjoy!

New York Rican happened to be very nearby, super convenient (a food truck) and turned out to have some really good "Puerto Rican, Dominican & Cuban food, New York style". It's also a type of cuisine I miss. There's not a lot of options in the Bay Area, compared to Miami or the Bronx. Huge kudos for using REALLY fresh ingredients, down to the lettuce and tomatoes. Reasonable prices too. I'd definitely return for these reasons. The Mofongo with Pork was a standout for sure. The mashed plantains of the mofongo had a good texture and a slight garlicky flavor, which I liked. The deep fried pork was excellent with a nice mixture of fattier and lean pieces. So moist. The deep fried pork could be an entree in and of itself. REALLY good. Also available are grilled chicken and shrimp, but I generally stick to the original style of dishes. The Tripleta Sandwich was good too. It's a manageable size hand-held size with steak, chicken and pork on a very fresh roll. There were a few bits of steak that were a bit hard (maybe over grilled), but with the plenty of sauces they provide, you can barely tell. Everything is packaged well too, so no need to worry about spills or messes in the car.

Rich, perfectly seasoned dish with fresh seafood, saffron rice and tasty Latin spices. It's a must try if you're visiting! What truly made the evening unforgettable was the incredible service. We were celebrating a birthday, and without us even asking, the team surprised us by bringing out a dessert with a candle. I was holding up my phone to shazam a Maluma song playing from the speakers. One of the servers came by to tell me the name of the song in case the shazam app couldn't figure it out. Fantastic customer service! From start to finish, we had a blast: the food, the ambiance, and most importantly, the people. I can see us coming back to try more dishes sooner vs. later. Cheers!

Fortunately for my…read morewaistline, Martin and Evelyn's taco truck isn't near my house, because if it were, I'd be a Grande Gordo in no time. I debated between the torta and the tacos, but since this was our first date, I played it safe and ordered the carne asada tacos. At $3.25 each, they're street taco-sized in theory, but the mountain of perfectly seasoned carne asada spilling out of them told a different story. I actually had to ask for a fork just to finish what escaped onto the tray. The tacos came loaded with fresh cilantro and red onions and tasted far more gourmet than their humble appearance suggested. The red and green salsas were both excellent, but the real star was their pico de gallo-style salsa. It had a slightly fermented tang that instantly reminded me of kimchi, and I found myself putting it on everything. This was my first visit, but definitely not my last. Next time, I'm skipping the internal debate and going straight for the torta.

They have grilled chicken (pieces or whole), tortas, sopes, burritos, tacos, churros, nachos, huaraches, tostadas, birria ramen, quesabirria, pizza birria, menudo, mulitas, asada fries and ribs. Meat choices include lengua, asada, pastor, buche, birria, pollo, cabeza, and chorizo. You can find them on Craig and Simmons. In the same parking lot as Chevron and Lucky 7's bar. They're grilling meat on site so you can them hot and fresh and it smells delish! I got their 3 birria taco combo that comes with garnish and consommé. Tender meat that's flavorful on its own. Dip it in the consommé and it's just absolutely amazing! Service was friendly and fast. They are proud of the food they serve and it shows. Pricing is very reasonable.
